The founder and leader of the Power Chapel Worldwide, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, has prophesied a victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
During a prayer session for NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, on Sunday, July 28, 2024, Prophet Kusi Boateng stated that as long as Frimpong Kodua holds his position, the NPP will not face defeat in the upcoming elections.
“Once my son is the General Secretary of the NPP, he will never lead this party into opposition. I thought and prayed about it before coming to say it here,” he said.
Prophet Kusi Boateng has consistently predicted an NPP win and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s success in the 2024 elections.
In 2023, he foretold Bawumia’s victory in the NPP’s presidential primaries and his subsequent leadership of the country.
He also predicted the number of regions and parliamentary seats the NPP would secure.
“The NPP will surely emerge victorious in the 2024 elections; Dr. Bawumia will be their flagbearer, and he will win 13 regions out of 16, whilst the NPP will secure 153 seats to lead Parliament,” Prophet Kusi Boateng stated.
“Dr. Bawumia will secure 64% of the votes in the NPP Presidential primaries by winning 13 out of the 16 regions,” he predicted.

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, also known as JFK, has revealed what the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, told him when he informed him about his summon to the Manhyia Palace, by the Kumasi traditional Council.
JFK, who appeared before the chiefs and elders of the Ashanti Kingdom on Monday, January 22nd 2023, said that he received a notice from Baffour Kantankrankyi, the chief of staff of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to present Chairman Wontumi before the Kumasi Traditional Council.
The summon was in relation to some alleged derogatory remarks that Chairman Wontumi made against the Asantehene during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants in Manhyia South.
“I got a notice a short while ago that Baffour Kantankrankyi said I should call him. Truthfully, I called him. When I did, he told me to present ‘my child’, the regional chairman, before the chiefs of Ashanti kingdom,” JFK said.
However, when he called Chairman Wontumi to relay the message, he said that he was on his way to China and that he would show up when he returned.
“I immediately called chairman to relay the message, and he told me he was on his way to China and that when he returns he will show up,” JFK said.
JFK said that he then travelled from Accra to Kumasi to plead with the chiefs on behalf of Chairman Wontumi, out of respect for the Asantehene and the Asanteman chiefs.
“I was then in Accra, but because of the respect my party and I have for our Lord (Otumfuor) and the Asanteman chiefs, I came from Accra to Kumasi, and visited the chiefs, Nana Samaahene, Nana Ankobea and I sat with them and told them that I had already mentioned on phone that Chairman had travelled, but I also had to come and plead with them,” JFK said.
JFK’s revelation has confirmed the reports that Chairman Wontumisnubbed the summon from the Manhyia Palace, which has angered the chiefs and the youth of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Some of the chiefs asserted that Chairman Wontumi must appear before the Council, even if he would come in a wheelchair.
The youth of the Kingdom have also threatened to exile Chairman Wontumi from the Ashanti land if he does not apologise to the Asantehene and the chiefs.
The Kumasi Traditional Council has also reportedly summoned Chairman Wontumi, lawyer Maurice Ampaw, and the management of Wontumi Radio and TV over the comments made by the latter against the chiefs during a programme on the station.
The Chief Scribe of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has made it clear that Ghanaian lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has not been appointed as a spokesperson for the party.
Consequently, the NPP has distanced itself from the remarks made by the lawyer during his program on Wontumi TV over the weekend.
Frimpong stated, “The party does not recognize Maurice Ampaw.” This implies that Maurice and the management of Wontumi TV are solely responsible for addressing their broadcast, which has been deemed disrespectful to traditional authorities.
These remarks followed a summon issued to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, by the Kumasi Traditional Council over an alleged distasteful comment directed at Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which has angered Asanteman.
Before Antwi Boasiako could honor the summon on January 22, Maurice reportedly took to the TV station and denigrated the traditional rulers over the summon.
The Akwamu Division of the Council expressed dismay when the NPP appeared before the Council without Antwi Boasiako, stating, “Someone by the name Maurice Ampau has disrespected us on Wontumi’s TV station over the summon we issued to him today. He used unprintable words on us.”
Kyeame Kwaku Wusu, a representative of the Council, warned the NPP against allowing anyone to disrespect what they had built over the years.
In issuing a final timeline for Antwi Boasiako to appear before it on Monday, January 29, the Council also demanded the appearance of Maurice Ampaw and the management of Wontumi TV.
The NPP assured that they would compel the Regional Chairman to appear before the Council, emphasizing that further excuses would not be tolerated.
Mr Frimpong stated, “We will dissociate ourselves from any other excuse he gives this time around,” after earlier conveying that Wontumi was sick and receiving treatment in a hospital, making him unable to appear before the Council.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has declared his unwavering allegiance to Asanteman, emphasizing that he would not exchange it for anything under any circumstances.
He expressed a firm commitment to defend and safeguard the Golden Stool and its occupant, rejecting any attempts by fellow party members to tarnish the dignity of chieftaincy and the traditional authority of Asanteman.
Affirming his loyalty, he stated, “I will choose Asante over NPP at any time.”
Mr Frimpong made these remarks during his appearance before the Kumasi Traditional Council on January 22, 2024, addressing alleged disrespect by the Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.
Accompanied by the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, Deputy National Communication Director Owusu Bempah, and regional and constituency executives, the NPP leadership intended to present Chairman Wontumi before the Council.
However, they cited his hospitalization for medical attention as the reason for his absence.
Consequently, the party was instructed to bring Chairman Wontumi before the Council on Monday, January 29, 2024, along with the management of Wontumi TV and a program host from the media house, Maurice Ampaw.
Justin Kodua Frimpong hinted at their strategy, stating, “We will tell him to come here next Monday, and we (NPP) will dissociate ourselves from any other excuse he will offer.”
General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has expressed his optimism regarding the party’s ability to remain united following the November 4 election to select the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
He believes that the party can reconcile its members and stay focused on its goal of ‘breaking the 8.’
Kodua made these remarks during an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story on Thursday, November 2. This statement comes in the context of the party’s efforts to prevent post-election divisions by requiring all four presidential aspirants, namely Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Francis Addai-Nimoh, and Dr. Afriyie Akoto, to sign a strict legal commitment.
This commitment means that these aspirants cannot resign from the party in case they lose the elections on Saturday. This decision was reached during a meeting between the National Council of Elders and the aspirants.
When asked whether the presidential aspirants have been genuine in their commitment to this undertaking, Mr Kodua responded affirmatively.
“Absolutely, from what happened today, it was very genuine and I can tell you that the NPP will come from this November 4 election stronger,” he said.
Following the signing of the commitment, Mr. Frimpong Kodua addressed the press at Alisa Hotel. He highlighted that the candidates have also reached an agreement to acknowledge and accept the election results. He further emphasized that the commitment will be rigorously enforced.
“The New Patriotic Party today has had a very successful meeting involving all the major stakeholders in the party including President Akufo-Addo and former President Kufuor.”
“At the meeting, all four aspirants were made to sign an undertaking to the effect that they would not resign from the party should they not win the elections. They have also signed an undertaking to support the winner of the primaries for the party to win the 2024 main elections”, Mr Kodua said.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released the resolutions of the National Council following their meeting last week concerning the forthcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries.
In a press release dated July 24, 2023, issued by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party clarified that all Presidential aspirants must sign an agreement with the party, pledging their support to the eventual winner of the party’s Presidential Candidate election/selection, in the event that they are not elected/selected themselves.
It reiterated that the Special Electoral College scheduled for August 26, 2023, shall be held at each of the 16 Regional Capitals and that each delegate shall be entitled to one vote, and shall cast his/her vote by secret ballot for only one Candidate.
“All Aspiring Presidential Candidates shall be given the validated Album for the Special Electoral College at least one month to the date of the Congress (i.e. not later than July 26, 2023),” it added.
Unhealthy comments
The National Council said it took a serious view of some unhealthy comments and utterances from some aspiring presidential candidates and their supporters, which do not auger well for the unity and cohesion of the Party.
“Accordingly, the Council, by this statement, reinforces compliance with the Code of Conduct for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections of the Party.”
“Any Aspiring Presidential Candidate, or his supporters, and party executives at all levels who act in contravention of the Code of Conduct, moving forward, shall be dealt with in accordance with the guidelines thereof and the Party Constitution.
It said all aspiring presidential candidates shall campaign on issues and refrain from levelling unsubstantiated allegations, personal attacks and vilifications against their opponents and that no aspiring presidential candidate shall undertake any activity that will polarize the Party along tribal, religious, and other factional lines.
It added that all aspiring presidential candidates should impress upon their supporters not to engage in any of the activities stated above.
An aspiring presidential candidate shall sign an undertaking with the party, committing himself to supporting whoever is eventually elected/selected as the party’s Presidential Candidate after the election/selection process in the event that he is not elected/selected.

Finally, while the Party wishes all its Aspiring Presidential Candidates the best of luck in the primaries, it anticipates that these rules and regulations shall be strictly complied with by all stakeholders, particularly the candidates and their supporters in the supreme interest of the party. Thanks.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to all regional executives of the party, instructing them to cease demanding unauthorized fees from parliamentary aspirants.
A statement signed by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong indicated that though the intentions of the regional executives may be positive, it is only the national executive of the party that can direct such charges and therefore called on them to cease such charges with immediate effect.
“While the national executive body acknowledges and appreciates the otherwise good intentions behind these decisions, you are hereby reminded that directives governing the conduct of elections of the Party can only be issued by the National Executive Committee, the appropriate body constitutionally mandated to do so.
“Accordingly, all Regional Executive Committees are, by this letter, directed to cease forthwith, the issuance of any directives on the conduct of parliamentary primaries unless and until same have been approved by the National Executive Committee in accordance with the Constitution of the Party.”
Below is the party’s full statement.
The attention of the national executive body of the Party has been drawn to various directives issued by some Regional Executive Committees to aspiring candidates on the conduct of the Party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries in “Orphan Constituencies”,
The directives include, but are not limited to the fixing of tentative dates for the conduct of the parliamentary primaries, and charging of ‘development levy’, among others.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that nominations for parliamentary primaries in constituencies where the party has no parliamentary representation, known as orphan constituencies, will commence on July 11, 2023.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, released a statement in Accra on Wednesday, confirming that this decision was endorsed during the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meetings on April 3, 2023.
According to Mr. Frimpong, the nomination period will conclude on August 10, 2023, with the elections scheduled to take place between September 23, 2023, and December 2, 2023, spanning several Saturdays.
“Nomination forms could be obtained at a non-refundable application fee of GH¢3,000.00 in a bankers draft payable to the NPP national headquarters in Accra,” he added.
Mr. Frimpong also stated that if an aspiring parliamentary candidate is unable to obtain the nomination form at the constituency level, they have the option to obtain it through alternative means.
They can appeal to the regional or national secretariat to acquire the form or download it from the Party’s website, www.newpatrioticparty.org, upon payment of a fee. This provision ensures that candidates have access to the nomination forms regardless of any difficulties faced at the constituency level.
“To successfully file a nomination, an aspiring parliamentary candidate must submit a non-refundable filing fee of GHS35,000 in a bankers draft payable to the NPP national headquarters in Accra,” he added.
The NPP General Secretary added that aspirant parliamentary candidates will receive a 50% rebate of the filing fees in order to encourage greater representation of women, young people, and people with disabilities (PWDs) in higher political offices.
“This means they will be required to pay a non-refundable filing fee of GHS17,500.00,” he added.
Mr Frimpong stressed that the party’s leadership will not deny any parliamentary candidate access to purchase the nomination forms.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inaugurated its presidential primary vetting committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rev. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye.
The vetting committee was established at the Party’s Headquarters on Friday, June 30, 2023 by Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the Party.
He asked the committee members to maintain a free, fair, and transparent vetting process while reiterating the importance of upholding the Party’s Constitution.
In line with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution, the Members of the Vetting Committee are as follows:
NAMES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND DESIGNATION
Rt. Rev. Hon. Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye – Chairman
Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta – Member
Mr. Stephen Abankwa Sekyere – Member
Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah – Member
Lord Oblitey Commey – Member
Lawyer Frank Davies – Member
Mad. Rita Talata Asobayire – Member
Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyeman – Member
Mad. Adelaide Ahwireng – Member
Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency and a member of the Vetting Committee, has been appointed the Spokesperson for the Committee. Mr. Evans Nimako, Director for Research and Elections of the Party has also been appointed as Secretary for the committee.
With just a few days to hit the election ground for the much anticipated National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential and Parliamentary primaries, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is urging their opponents to hold an election devoid of hooliganism or violence.
The General Secretary of NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong said the government wants a peaceful atmosphere and will not countenance illegality.
Mr Kodua Frimpong thus asked national executives of NDC to ensure all grievances raised by parties involved in the primaries are addressed fairly.
“We have also seen the injunction filed by Dr Duffuor, we are urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to have a critical look at it.
As a government, we are more committed towards having a peaceful atmosphere in the country, and we will not let people take the laws into their hands.
We want successful primaries, we don’t want any tension, hooliganism or any form of activities the constitution frowns on. At the end of the day, we want them to have credible primaries,” the General Secretary of the NPP stated in an interview with Citi TV.
Dr Kwabena Duffour who is a flagbearer hopeful of the party has filed a suit against the party following what he says are some discrepancies his team has identified in the party’s voters register to be used for the exercise.
In a writ filed at an Accra High Court, Dr Duffour indicated that the party failed to provide the required photo album register five weeks before the elections as stated in the party’s rules.
He stated that a partial photo album register was given to his team on May 4, a few days before the elections rather than in March when they had submitted a request for one.
“The Plaintiff adds that to their utmost surprise, upon verification, it was found that the number of constituencies on the hard drive given to his representatives was 220 in number as opposed to the alleged number of 228 constituencies indicated by Defendant,” he stated.
“The Plaintiff adds further that an initial verification of the said 220 constituencies on the hard drive given to his representatives by the 2nd Defendant established basic errors and inaccuracies that render the Photo Album Register inaccurate and unreliable for a free, fair and credible election.
Dr Duffour added that despite his request for a postponement of the elections until a full photo album register is secured, the party has failed to heed his request.
However, the lawyers for the NDC have urged an Accra High Court to dismiss what they say is a frivolous and incompetent case filed by flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor.
They also described the case as one not grounded in law.
“We submit that the plaintiff’s suit is incompetent and therefore ought to be dismissed in limine. Again, the plaintiff has not been able to demonstrate on the face of his pleadings and affidavit that it is just or convenient for the Honourable Court to grant the injunction that he seeks.”
On Sunday, February 26, President Akufo-Addo traveled to the Gonja Kingdom to partake in Yagbonwura Professor Tuntunba Boressah Jakpa I’s seventh-day funeral rites.
Sam Abu Jinapor, the member of parliament for Damongo, and Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the NPP, were among the dignitaries who accompanied the president.
The Overlord of Gonja Sulemana Tuntunba Boressah Jakpa I passed on 5th February 2023 after a brief illness.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Kodua Frimpong, has said that there will be special dispensation for incumbent Members of Parliament in the party’s upcoming primaries.
Kodua Frimpong says the era where certain MPs were protected and not allowed to be contested is over.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Angel FM, the NPP scribe said that no candidate will be allowed to go unopposed in the primaries.
According to him, this move is part of lessons derived from the 2020 elections where the party lost a number of seats to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He explained that even in cases where a candidate will not be contested, the party will leave the window for the declaration of intent and purchase of forms opened until the deadline.
He is confident that the practice will help instill unity in the party and prevent the acrimony that usually comes with such arrangement.
“For the parliamentary primaries, nobody will go unopposed. We will not protect anyone. We are not going to give any considerations. It will not happen. We will open the door for any member who qualifies to stand for the elections.
“If you work hard and the constituents express confidence in you that you should go unopposed, then fine. Even with that, nominations will be opened until closing date. The practice of protecting people did not help us in 2020. These are some of the measures we are implementing to bring peace and unity in the party,” he said.
He also disclosed that the party has opened its doors to some disgruntled members who left to compete as independent candidates in the 2020 elections.
Kodua Frimpong says that the party is determined to heal the wounds of the previous elections and go into the 2024 elections with a united front.
The party has set January 31, 2023 to decide on the date for its presidential and parliamentary primaries.
A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko has pleaded with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament to support in approving the yet-to-be delivered 2023 budget statement after its presentation.
He indicated that the the 2023 budget is crucial.
“It can’t suffer a fate similar to the 2022 budget and its revenue measures. It could completely derail negotiations with the Fund if not passed. Critical to this are its revenue generation measures. We plead the NDC joins NPP in this for Ghana,” he tweeted.
Thursday’s 2022 budget is crucial. It can’t suffer a fate similar to the 2022 budget and its revenue measures. It could completely derail negotiations with the Fund if not passed. Critical to this are its revenue generation measures. We plead the NDC joins NPP in this for Ghana.
Already, some aggrieved lawmakers on the side of the government threatened to boycott the presentation if Mr Ofori-Atta is the one assigned to present the document.
Member of Parliament for Asanti-Akyem North Kwame Andy Appiah-Kubi earlier served notice that the aggrieved MPs won’t be in Parliament to support the budget if Mr Ofori-Atta is the one to present the document.
The MPs believe that a new face should replace the Finance Minister due to the current economic challenges.
He told journalists that “We’ve gone back to (our demand for the President to) sack him now and therefore should the budget be presented under the stamp of the Finance Minister, we’ll not participate because as far as we’re concerned we’re never going to do business with him.
“And if we’re not going to do business with him, he does not participate in any process from the Presidency to the House. We will not participate in deliberations too.”
But at a crunch meeting in Accra on Tuesday November 22, the leadership of the party and the Majority group in Parliament in a statement co-signed by Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh and General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said “In the meantime, the leadership of the Parliamentary Group and the leadership of the party counselled the Honourbale Members of Parliamentary party to respect to the caucus communications channel , and to the largest extent possible, work together as one caucus unit. .
“Leadership of the party in this regard call upon the Members of Parliament to attend to all Government Business in the House including in particular the 2023 budget statement and economic policy and all connected matters.”
Justin Kodua Frimpong has tasked members of all Standing Committees of the party to put loyalty to the New Patriotic Party, NPP, above all other considerations.
Kodua was speaking on November 22, 2022, in Accra at the official swearing-in of all Standing Committees announced by the Stephen Ntim-led National Executives team.
“For various members of the committee, as you have sworn the oath, please, you should know that first and foremost, your first loyalty is to the New Patriotic Party and issues or matters that come before your committee should be kept at the committee level unless the party decides that it should come out,” he said.
In early November, the National Council of the party appointed members and chairpersons to serve on the party’s standing and ad hoc committees.
In a press release dated November 3, the appointment by the National Council was in line with the party’s constitution.
“Pursuant to Article 10(3)(6) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constitution, the National Council, at its meeting held on October 5, 2022, and upon further consultations with relevant stakeholders, appointed the following persons to serve on the Standing and Ad hoc Committees of the Party,” parts of the release read.
The appointed members are to serve on the party’s finance, constitution and legal committees; organisation; research; disciplinary and communication committees.
The finance committee will be chaired by Abankwa Sekyere; the constitutional and legal committee by Frank Davies; the organisation committee by Lord Oblitey Commey; the research committee by Osei Bonsu Amoah; the disciplinary committee by Kwasi Amoako-Atta and the communication committee by Nana Akomea.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has been spotted in parliament as the house considers a motion by the Members of Parliament on the opposition side for the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta as the Minister of Finance.
The National Democratic Congress MPs filed a motion in parliament on October 25, 2022, to be debated and voted on 14 days after its receipt by the Speaker of Parliament.
Upon the maturity of the period, the house is considering the motion moved by the NDC MPs, and they have hoped that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs would support their call.
This expectation is based on the fact that some weeks ago, some 80 NPP MPs took a historic stance when they called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to immediately sack Ken Ofori-Atta over his poor performance.
The MPs stated in their press conference that should the president fail to do this, they would begin boycotting government business in the house, including the reading of the 2023 budget statement and economic policy.
This call has since been placed on hold after the president met with the NPP MPs and urged them to give the Minister of Finance time to complete some pressing government business, including his IMF request.
But ahead of the hearing of the motion for a vote of censure against Ken Ofori-Atta, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, wrote a letter to its MPs, directing them to stay away from the vote.
In the statement dated November 9, 2022, the national leadership said that “While the National Executive body acknowledges the prevailing socio-economic conditions in the country and the need for urgent remedial interventions, it is our utmost position that the demand of the NDC-led Minority Caucus is ill-intended and aimed at derailing government’s efforts at resolving current socio-economic upheavals.
“The leadership acknowledges that the Minister for Finance is the leader of government’s negotiation team with the International Monetary Fund. Considering that negotiation with the IMF is nearly completed, the National Executive body of the Party strongly believes that the removal of the lead person spearheading the negotiation may adversely impact the progress made thus far.”
On the day of the vote of censure, the NPP MPs, led by the MP for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, stated in an interview that while they are bent on getting Ken Ofori-Atta out, they would not support the motion of the NDC MPs for a vote of censure against the minister.
“We are here to reiterate that, however much you heard us speaking that based on the intervention of the president, we will have to see the minister of finance do his work, read budget, see through appropriation and then the president will act.
“Over the days, we have heard the finance minister speaking and his speaking has influenced majority of us in the caucus, not only to state that we are back to the original position that we took, and that position is that the minister of finance must not be the one to read the budget, and must not be the one that would do the appropriation.
“We are here to tell you this morning that this will be very soon for you to see, the position of us and we are going to be positively defiant about that posture until that action is taken. However, we are not going to support the cause of the NDC in the chamber this morning.
“The cause of the NDC is premised on falsehood, propaganda and reasons that are not justifiable. Their position might look like ours but is not the same,” he said.
The presence of the NPP General Secretary in parliament is therefore believed to be a sort of ‘supervisory’ one to ensure that the NPP MPs go by the directive for them to stay away from the vote of censure to take out the embattled Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has urged his colleague MPs of the majority caucus to support a vote of censure against the finance minister filed by his side, the minority.
Sam George’s call comes after the national leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) directed all their MPs to abstain from a scheduled vote of censure targeted at embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The party has thus ordered the Majority Whips to ensure that no member of the Caucus participates in the exercise expected to take place today, Thursday, November 10, 2022.
The directive was contained in a November 9, press statement signed by General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
Reacting to this, the Ningo-Prampram MP said the vote of censure against the finance minister will be a test of honour for the NPP MPs.
He added that the action the majority caucus MPs will take will determine whether they are truly honourable men and women, myjoyonline.com reports.
“Today, it is a matter of honour. It is a matter of the title we so fight for. So, they (NPP MPs) must earn their title, today.
“This is a call to the 137 on the majority side. Earn your title. Else we will not call you honourable members of the rest of the term.
“We will refer to you by your regular names because you are going to show Ghanaians that you lack honour,” he is quoted to have said in an interview with Metro TV on Thursday.
“Ghana is at the crossroads today. Today Parliament has the opportunity to distinguish itself and ensure that we are masters of our own craft and ensure that we care about the people we represent,” the MP added.
