    WAEC registers 460,611 candidates for 2024 WASSCE examination

    The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) which commenced Monday, August 19, 2024, has a total of 460,611 candidates, including 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools participating.

    It started in the aftermath of the completion of Visual Art Project work, which took place from August 5 to 16, 2024.

    Nonetheless, the examination period is said to come to an end on Friday, September 20, 2024.

    Meanwhile the 460,611 participants marks a 2.66% increase compared to the 2023 entry figure of 448,674.

    Additionally 1,000 centers nationwide are hosting students to write this year’s exams.

    Note that, WAEC has warned several Heads of Schools, Supervisors, and Invigilators to avoid unethical practices such as charged between GH¢200.00 and GH¢500.00 for assistance from invigilators, supervisors assigning teachers to oversee subjects they are currently teaching as well as enrolling individuals who are not their legitimate students.

    Furtherance to this, WAECcalls on all stakeholders, particularly supervisors and invigilators, to support efforts to uphold the examination’s integrity.

    They have as well encouraged candidates to strictly adhere to examination rules and be cautious of fraudulent websites that distribute fake questions.

    It is believed that these websites deceive candidates into subscribing to them, thereby distracting them from their studies.

    Court to continue Adisadel College assault case after WASSCE

    The court hearing the case of the Adisadel College’s assault has decided to adjourn the case until the accused completes his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

    The accused has denied assault charges levelled against him in the viral video case of assaulting a fellow student.

    Despite being on bail, the accused faces a challenge due to impending WASSCE examinations.

    During the proceedings, parents of the involved teenagers and the public attended, but the sensitivity of the case led to it being conducted in the judge’s chamber.

    His Lordship Eric Oheneba Antwi Boasiako, the presiding judge, adjourned the case to September 27, 2023, allowing the students to complete their final exams without interference.

    The incident, which occurred on June 30, 2023, involved one student strangling and hitting another student’s head on a metal bed, as shown in the viral video. The fight reportedly started over a sim card.

    The Housemaster of Quaque House have been suspended, and the students involved have also been suspended following the incident.

    After a visit by the Deputy Minister for Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a psychologist was assigned to the students.

  • We abhor Examination Malpractices – Wisconsin University to freshers

    Council Chairman of the Wisconsin University International College of Ghana, Justice Isaac D. Duose has cautioned the 3749 freshers who have gained admission to study various programs by the University to avoid cheating in Examinations.

    According to him, Wisconsin University International Collage of Ghana does not tolerate examination malpractices in any form and anyone caught in the act will be dealt with.

    Addressing matriculants at the University’s nineteenth matriculation ceremony held on Saturday, 1st October 2022 at the institution’s main campus at North Legon in Accra, Justice Duose explained that the University does not tolerate Examination malpractices in any form or shape because the University does not intend to give half-baked degrees to any student who passes through its walls.

    “We take strong exception to examination malpractices, since we do not and will not go to encourage you to use short-cut to get your degrees. Because if you get a degree here and you go out there to show incompetence, it will be a disgrace to the board, management, and staff of the University”, the Council Chairman of the Wisconsin University International Collage of Ghana reiterated.

    ”We want each and every one of you sitting here today to be our good ambassadors of excellence anywhere you will find yourself now or in the future”, Justice Duose added.

    “One thing I will like to leave with you is the importance of timeliness so that as you go on in life, you will respect time. Because respect for time is respect for everybody else you come into contact with,” he noted.

    The Council Chairman admonished freshers and continuing students to understand that there is no known magic formula for success. Saying what we do know is that those who have achieved true success have consistently displayed a couple of characteristics: Integrity, transparency, accountability, teamwork, and excellence in service delivery.

    These characteristics according to Justice Duose represent the core values of Wisconsin University International Collage of Ghana which the students should believe in and uphold.

     

  • Exam for law school cancelled due to question paper leak

    The entrance examination for the Ghana School of Law, which was supposed to be taken by prospective students today, September 23, 2022, has been canceled.

    The exam was canceled as a result of the questions being leaked on social media hours before it was scheduled to be written.

    The four paged leaked paper had two questions the candidates expected to answer.

    The Independent Examination Committee of the General Legal Council, which oversees examinations, decided to cancel the paper after careful consideration.

    This is the second time the Committee has cancelled an examination this year.

    In July 2022, the examination body cancelled a Civil Procedure paper scheduled to be taken by students of the Ghana Law School.

    This was after the copies of the paper had been circulated on social media ahead of the time it was scheduled to be taken.

    Meanwhile, GhanaWeb is informed that the cancelled entrance examination paper is scheduled to be taken later in the day.
