The Ghanaian film “EVOR” has reached a notable achievement by earning an Official Selection at The African Film Festival (TAFF) 2024 in Texas.
This film, addressing the delicate issue of domestic abuse, signifies the inaugural production by actress-turned-producer Sitsofe Tsikor through her production company, Rainbow Productions.
Sitsofe took to her social media to announce the thrilling news of the film’s official selection. The post included an updated poster for ‘EVOR,’ adorned with the laurel and the caption, “We woke up to such good news.”
“EVOR” unfolds the narrative of Dela, confronting a potential 20-year prison sentence for the demise of her partner, Kojo. The film delves into Dela’s odyssey as she grapples with past trauma, aiming to unveil the tragic cycle of abuse and societal apathy.
The title “EVOR” is rooted in the Ewe language, translating to “It is Finished,” symbolizing the emphatic conclusion of a consequential situation.
In an interview with GhMoviefreak.com, earlier this month, Sitsofe expressed, “EVOR is a work of art that we have put our hearts and backs into. We have made a film that would go a long way to change people’s thoughts, and we can’t wait for you all to see it.”
She also encouraged audiences to make sure they catch the film upon its release, underscoring that it would be a worthwhile investment of their time.
Boasting an ensemble cast of accomplished Ghanaian actors, including Adjetey Anang, Brian Angels, Fred Amugi, Pascaline Edwards, Abeiku Santana, Myna Otoo, Naa Ashokor Mensah-Doku, and others.
In its 9th year, TAFF places its spotlight on films and arts that champion African culture, address issues impacting Africa and individuals of African descent, or delve into African landmarks and historical figures. The 2024 edition of TAFF is scheduled to unfold in Dallas, Texas, from June 20th to June 23rd.
