Video: Full match between Azumah Nelson and EU ambassador

Azumah Nelson, the esteemed boxing hall of famer, reaffirmed his enduring boxing prowess in a special exhibition match against the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly.

Held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena, this event was a highlight of EU Month celebrations and was aptly named “Diplo-Rumble: Empowering Youth Through Sports.”

The main objective of the match was to spotlight the talents of young boxers from Bukom while emphasising the role of sports in youth empowerment.

Despite being 65 years old, Azumah Nelson engaged in a spirited three-round bout with Ambassador Razaaly, demonstrating that age has not dulled his skills.

Both participants entertained the audience with their shadow boxing and playful exhibition of boxing techniques.

Following the friendly competition, the judges deemed the match a draw, underscoring the exhibition’s emphasis on showcasing skills and enjoyment rather than determining a winner.

The bout received high praise from fans, serving as a poignant reminder of Nelson’s enduring legacy in boxing and the positive impact sports can have on youth development.
