Osimhen likely to sue Napoli for social media mockery after penalty miss

Roberto Calenda, the agent of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, has issued a strong threat of legal action against Napoli.

This comes after the club posted a video that was perceived as mocking their star player.

Calenda expressed his concern, stating that the club’s actions had inflicted “very serious damage to the player.”

In a statement released on the messaging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), he strongly criticized the video shared by the club through its TikTok page.

“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” said Calenda.

He also indicated that the entourage could take legal action against Napoli in an effort to protect their client.

“We reserve the right to take legal action and any other useful initiative to protect Victor.”

Napoli’s official TikTok account ridiculed Osimhen for his missed penalty during their goalless draw against Bologna on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Following the match, the club’s TikTok profile posted a video depicting Osimhen appealing for a penalty and subsequently missing it, accompanied by background laughter. Additionally, another widely circulated video referred to Osimhen as a ‘coconut.
