Newcastle United is reportedly considering a January move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to sources close to ESPN’s Rob Dawson.
City is anticipating offers for England midfielder Phillips in the upcoming January transfer window, as he has only started one game for the club this season.
Newcastle, looking to reinforce their midfield after the suspension of Sandro Tonali, is among the interested clubs, with Juventus and Bayern Munich also in the mix.
Phillips, a £43 million ($53.6 million) acquisition from Leeds United in 2022, is eager for regular playing time before the Euros in Germany next summer.
Despite his competition, he has struggled to secure a spot in Pep Guardiola’s lineup, starting just four games last season and one this season in the Carabao Cup.
If he remains at City into the new year, he will face increased competition with the return of Kevin De Bruyne from a hamstring injury.
