Pep Guardiola has sparked speculation that he might consider coaching in Serie A, mentioning that ” food is very good in Italy”.
The current Manchester City manager was previously linked with Juventus in 2019, but no formal approach was made, and Maurizio Sarri was appointed instead.
Guardiola has recently extended his contract with Manchester City until 2025 and achieved considerable success, including a Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble last season.
Therefore, there are no immediate plans for him to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The 52-year-old has, however, hinted that a move to Italy could form part of his future, telling those at the ‘Dialogues on Talent with Pep Guardiola’ event organised by the CRC Foundation in collaboration with the Vialli and Mauro Foundation for Research, Sport Onlus and the Guardiola Sala Foundation: “Juventus? They never contacted me. The food is very good in Italy. Would I coach them? I really like Italy; I often come on holiday.”
Guardiola has enjoyed success as a coach with City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, with one of the finest tactical brains in the business adding on to his philosophy when it comes to winning and losing: “People say that you learn more from defeat, but with victory, you live better.
Apart from everything else, balance is important. You have to remain calm when you win and don’t think it’s all a disaster when you lose.
Obsession is linked to passion; if you have an obsession, it means that you like something. Special talent is important, but it also requires many hours of work. Sacrifice is needed.”
