Greenwood wants no ban for Jude Bellingham over alleged slur -Reports

Mason Greenwood was reportedly “upset” by an alleged slur directed at him by Jude Bellingham but does not wish for the Real Madrid star to face a ban, according to the Sun.

The incident in question occurred during a Liga match between Real and Getafe on February 1, where Bellingham was captured on camera apparently saying something to Greenwood after a robust challenge.

Spanish authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, raising the prospect of a potential suspension.

Despite being affected by the incident, Greenwood hopes for the situation to be resolved without any punitive action.

Greenwood is reportedly eager to avoid seeing such action taken, with The Sun claiming to have been told by a source: “Mason has told them he doesn’t want Jude to be punished and has asked them to drop it. He doesn’t want bad publicity and wants to get on with playing football.

“He was very upset at the time, as he didn’t expect it from someone like Jude. But he knows he’s always likely to be a target for that kind of stuff so he’s accepted that he’ll need thick skin.”

After being out of action for over 12 months, Mason Greenwood saw allegations of attempted rape, assault, and controlling behaviour against him drop in February 2023.

Currently on a season-long loan spell in Spain, he has made a significant impact for Getafe, contributing seven goals and five assists.

This impressive performance has sparked discussions of interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Additionally, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United’s new minority shareholder, has hinted at the possibility of a return for the 22-year-old winger to Old Trafford.
