Glen Johnson worried about Chelsea star Levi Colwill’s positioning

Glen Johnson has expressed significant concerns regarding Chelsea’s rising star, Levi Colwill, for the current season. He has also issued a warning to Mauricio Pochettino regarding the young defender.

Colwill has been an ever-present figure in the Premier League this season for Chelsea, not missing a single minute of action.

His consistent performances earned him a spot in the starting lineup following a successful loan spell at Brighton.

Mauricio Pochettino holds a strong admiration for the player, and it’s believed that the Argentine manager rejected the possibility of a permanent transfer to Brighton during the summer transfer window.

At just 20 years old, Colwill possesses versatility, capable of playing both as a center-back and a left-back. He has showcased his abilities in both positions under Pochettino’s guidance.

But former Chelsea defender Johnson has urged Pochettino to stop using Colwill as a left-back because he could get ‘found out’ and ‘isolated’ in the position.

‘If you asked Levi Colwill, he’d probably tell you he doesn’t want to be playing left-back,’ Johnson told Compare.bet.

‘He’s not the quickest and for me to be a full back, you have to have some pace and so he looks like he’s playing out of position.
‘It’s great that the manager trusts him enough to give him minutes but it would be best to play him where he plays best, which is at centre-back.

‘He’s technically good, good at passing it through the lines, and reads the game well but he just needs the right players around him.

‘He could get found out at left-back because he could get isolated out there.’
