Albion Rovers defeated Elgin 3-0 at home thanks to a second-half hat trick from Charlie Reilly, improving their chances of staying in Scottish League Two.
After a scoreless first half, Reilly scored twice, the second from the penalty spot, and Ayrton Sonkur added Albion’s third goal with a header.
Prior to the break, Max Wright’s header for Albion went over the crossbar, and Reilly’s goal from inside the box shortly after the restart gave them the lead.
After Elgin midfielder Evan Towler’s foul on Joe Bevan, Reilly doubled Albion’s lead from the spot, and Sonkur added a third goal with a header in the 64th minute.
Albion increased its lead over the bottom-dwelling Bonnyrigg Rose to four points, while Elgin only managed one league victory in 2023.
