Accra Hearts of Oak supporters are expressing discontent with Ghana coach Chris Hughton for omitting star midfielder Salifu Ibrahim from the provisional squad for the upcoming AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Hearts of Oak fans argue that Ibrahim’s performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League surpasses that of Asante Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey, who is included in the provisional squad.
Some fans also advocate for the inclusion of midfielder Manaf Umar from Nsoatreman FC. Despite the omission of Salifu Ibrahim, Ghana’s provisional squad features other domestic players, including Lamptey, John Antwi, Razak Simpson, and others.
Ghana is in Group B alongside Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde, with their first match scheduled against Cape Verde on January 14th, 2024.
