Ghana’s national team head coach, Chris Hughton, reportedly turned down a request from West Ham for Mohammed Kudus to join the Black Stars after their game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to the gathered reports, the coach declined the request to avoid risking injury to his key player.
In compliance with FIFA regulations, players are to be released on New Year’s Day for travel to training camps beginning on January 2, ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Consequently, Mohammed Kudus will be unavailable for selection in West Ham United’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday, January 1.
The Black Stars forward is expected to travel to Ghana to join the national team’s camp, initiating preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The camp will open in the afternoon, following an announcement of the final AFCON squad by Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton, during a morning press conference in Ivory Coast.
