Chelsea after Bayer Leverkusen’s Boniface

Chelsea have identified Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface as a target for the summer, according to Bild.

Boniface, 23, has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances this season and the Nigerian international’s transfer is reportedly valued at around €40 million, given that he has a contract until 2028.

The Blues have been linked with Boniface’s Nigeria teammate Victor Osimhen, but Napoli want his release clause of €130 million paid in full to let him go. Ivan Toney of Brentford is also on their shortlist, but his move would cost around €80 million.

Chelsea needs to watch their financial situation after spending over €1 billion across the last three transfer windows, and could be on the lookout for cheaper options.

O Dia reports that Flamengo striker Pedro is another possibility, with the 26-year-old scoring 13 goals from 34 games in the league in 2023 but being booed by his own fans recently after a poor performance.
