Alexander Djiku withdraws from Black Stars team for Nigeria and Uganda friendlies

Defender for Fenerbahçe, Alexander Djiku, has withdrawn from the Black Stars squad for their upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.

Reports indicate that he requested to be excused and thus did not join the team for the matches scheduled to take place in Morocco.

Djiku’s decision makes him the fifth player to opt out of the squad for various reasons, joining Thomas Partey, Joseph Paintsil, Mohammed Kudus, and Inaki Williams.

While the Ghana Football Association has not officially confirmed Djiku’s absence, 23 out of the 26 invited players are currently available for selection.

The friendly against Nigeria is scheduled for today, March 22, 2024, followed by a match against Uganda on Tuesday, March 26.

Both games will be held at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco, with kickoff set for 16:00 GMT.
