Isabel Mebarak Ripoll popularly known as Shakira and her former Barcelona football partner Gerard Pique are taking decisive steps to shield their two children from an alleged stalker, Daniel John Valtier, who recently gained attention for claiming to be Shakira’s husband.
In a recent development, the Colombian songstress, relieved after Valtier’s arrest earlier this month in Miami Beach, is now collaborating with Pique to ensure the ongoing safety of their kids.
The duo is concerned that the stalker may be released by posting bail, prompting them to take additional precautions.
Sources close to the couple revealed that despite Valtier being in prison, the trial is pending, and he has a bail set at 150,000 euros, requiring only a 10% payment for release.
To counter this potential threat, Shakira has reportedly requested 24/7 surveillance for her Miami residence.
Moreover, the pair is exploring options like increasing the number of security personnel or selling the house permanently to mitigate the risk.
Notably, Shakira and Pique share two sons, Sasha and Milan, from their previous relationship.
Shakira and soccer star Gerard Piqué announced their split in June 2022 after 11 years together.
