Renowned Nigerian entertainment journalist and media personality, Adesope Olajide, recently expressed admiration for the accomplished Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, hailing him as a source of inspiration for numerous artists and music enthusiasts across Africa.
During an interview with Joy News at the Rapperholic Exhibition in Accra, Adesope lauded Sarkodie’s resilience, success, and significant impact on the African music scene.
He also praised the team responsible for the exhibition, acknowledging their efforts in spotlighting Sarkodie’s achievements.
“Sarkodie has always been a very special artist to me, an inspirational artist who represents people and uses his talent. He’s one of the very few examples in rap in Africa that’s found a way to do what brings everybody in, either by his instrumentation, his choruses or by what he’s talking about.
“We’ve all spoken to Sakordie over the last decade, and watched interviews, he talks about his start in the industry, Tema, music etc But to come into this exhibition and see the incredible work that the team has done to actualize, to put a picture together of how that man has started and carried on in his career. From humble beginnings to the biggest awards in the world, seeing it physically touching the outfits that we’ve seen on stage completely brings a whole new meaning to Sarkodie’s journey,” he said.
The ‘Rapperholic Exhibition,’ a pioneering event, was organized through a collaboration between Sarkodie’s Sarkcess brand, Eagle Plug, and Mix Design Hub. This exhibition, drawing creative influence from the ‘Book of HOV’ showcase, strategically highlighted an artist of immense acclaim, Sarkodie. The timing of the event was meticulously planned to coincide with the lead-up to the 10th-anniversary celebration of the ‘Rapperholic Concert,’ aptly themed ‘Rapperholic: The Rebirth.’
The Mix Design Hub in Osu played host to the exhibition, welcoming attendees for a concise five-day period. Among the distinguished guests were notable personalities like Dr. Osei Kwame, Dr. Ofori Sarpong, Nadia Buari, and members of Sarkodie’s family.
The esteemed Amakye Dede added to the grandeur of the exhibition on Tuesday, engaging in a tour and captivating the audience with a performance. The event schedule encompassed a Student Tour, Fireside Chat, Curators Dialogue, and a Podcast session.
