Prominent member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s campaign team, Sammi Awuku has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer will unveil his running mate to the public in June.
Awuku confirmed that Dr. Bawumia has already chosen his running mate for the upcoming 2024 general elections, dismissing claims of delay and highlighting that they are well within their timeline.
“We are very much within the timeline. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was elected barely six months ago, so we still have time. If you recall, his nomination in 2008 was done somewhere in August. So, for us in the NPP, we are very much within our timelines.
“It can be tomorrow, it can be next week, it can be next month, it can be three days from now. The flagbearer at this point is very clear in his mind who his running mate is going to be, and when he is ready, he is going to announce that. I am certain by June, he will announce his vice,” Sammi Awuku stated.
He reiterated that Dr. Bawumia is focused on campaigning vigorously against his main rival, John Dramani Mahama.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is up against John Mahama. They will be the candidates on the ballot, and we’re familiar with both. Dr. Bawumia’s real contest is with the former president,” Awuku emphasized.
In related news, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially introduced Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as its presidential running mate for the elections.
