The music promoter Sam Larry claims he is unaware of Mohbad, the rising singer, passing away.
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, died on Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday. He was 27 years old.
Shortly after his passing, an old video that depicted the singer being ejected from a music video shoot with the rapper Zlatan surfaced on social media.
Sam Larry and a few other men can be seen showing up at the location of the shoot to demand that Mohbad be removed.
It took Zlatan’s intervention to prevent Larry from striking Mohbad with what appeared to be a stick.
On Thursday, a copy of the petition the late singer filed against Larry alleging a threat to his life and property damage appeared online.
In the petition, dated June 27, 2023, Mohbad claimed that around fifteen people “invaded the premises with dangerous arms like guns and cutlasses, led by Sam Larry Elegushi.”
However, in a video on Friday, Larry said he “loves Mohbad so much” and “I cannot kill him.”
In the footage, the music promoter said the videos circulating on social media happened in the past.
Larry said in the case of any disagreement between himself and Mohbad, he still would not wish for the singer’s death.
“Mohbad is my brother and I liked him so much. Even when he was signed to Marlian Records, he knew that I had love for him,” he said in Yoruba language.
“His wife and everyone knows that I have love for Mohbad. Every time I travel, whether to Kenya or Dubai, I usually tell Mohbad to come with me.
“And that I will pay Marlian Records so that we can have our shows. So even if we had any misunderstandings, I still would not wish him dead.
“I cannot kill Mohbad. I love him so much and God sees my heart. I know nothing about the death of Mohbad.
