Ghanaian rapper Medikal has humorously claimed responsibility for the Black Stars‘ underwhelming performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Pharaohs of Egypt held Ghana to a thrilling 2-2 draw on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in their second group match.
Despite a stellar performance by Mohammed Kudus, scoring a brace and putting the Black Stars in the lead, lapses in defence allowed Egypt to snatch a late point through Omar Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed.
With just one point from two games, Ghana trails behind Cape Verde (with one game played) and Egypt in the Group B standings.
Another setback against underdogs Mozambique on Monday could see Ghana exiting the tournament at the group stage.
In a lighthearted social media post, Medikal jokingly suggested that his decision to pursue music over football might be the cause of Ghana’s struggles. “I’m sorry Ghanaians, all this is my fault, I should have stuck to football,” tweeted the rapper.
