Ghanaian dancehall sensation Epixode, also known as Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, has expressed his willingness to create campaign songs for any political party that approaches him.
The artist lamented the stigma attached to musicians in Ghana when they reveal their political affiliations, emphasising that in other countries, such declarations are embraced.
Epixode clarified that while he prefers to keep his own political leanings private, he is prepared to compose campaign anthems for political parties as long as it contributes positively to the discourse without causing controversy.
He emphasised that creating such anthems is part of his job, and he sees no reason why musicians in Ghana should face backlash for their political beliefs.
The dancehall musician acknowledged the challenges and disadvantages associated with publicly declaring political affiliations in the Ghanaian context but highlighted the importance of the message being positive and uplifting.
Epixode concluded by asserting in an interview on Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz , “If a political party comes to me for an anthem knowing that the message is positive, I would do it. Not to give the people hope and later be disappointed.”
