Ghanaian actor Don Little has made an appeal to Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Addo Dampare for better behavior from police officers in public settings.
Little shared a troubling encounter with an officer who questioned his driving ability based on his stature, leading him to call for a shift in mindset.
He urged IGP Dampare to instill discipline among officers to promote professionalism and tackle the widespread issue of bribery.
“I had an encounter with a police officer who insinuated that I shouldn’t be driving if laws were strictly enforced. Am I less capable because of my size? We’re all human and deserve respect. We cooperate with you, so please speak to us courteously when stopping us.
“Compared to other countries, our police lack respect, and this needs to change. Some act like they’re above retirement. Dampare, please address this issue with your officers. One bad seed can spoil the rest. Many officers are corrupt now. This is not about animosity,” he expressed in a video shared by One Ghana TV on YouTube.
His criticism has been directed at the police service for its behavior, especially in public interactions.
