The celebrated Nigerian Afrobeats artist and Grammy winner, Burna Boy, made headlines when he disclosed the unexpected reason behind his decision to decline a $5 million performance contract in Dubai.
He cited the strict anti-smoking regulations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the primary factor in rejecting the lucrative offer. Burna Boy emphasized that these stringent Emirati laws extend to various public spaces, encompassing parks and beaches in Dubai, which conflicted with his personal preference for smoking.
He emphasized his preference for being able to smoke and stated, “I can’t go to any place where I would be restricted from smoking.”
