Ghanaian entertainment expert Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng has urged the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to consider gifting a traditional stool to Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus for his goal celebrations.
Kudus, the 23-year-old West Ham forward, has not only impressed with his on-field performance but has also garnered attention for his creative celebrations, such as sitting on advertising boards with crossed arms.
During a recent match against Newcastle United on Saturday, March 30, Kudus faced resistance from a ball boy when he tried to execute his celebration, highlighting the need for a dedicated prop.
In a TikTok video shared on April 1, Vida proposed, “Ghana Tourism Authority, get a stool or chair adorned with patriotic and cultural symbols and send it to Kudus. Whenever he scores, it can be brought out for him to sit on.”
She emphasised the potential international media attention and tourism promotion such a gesture could bring, likening it to the famed Golden Stool in Ghanaian history.
“Do you know the number of times that stool would be promoted by the international media and how it would promote our local tourism?
“I am pleading with you, get Kudus a befitting stool, and I bet it’s going to be the most talked-about stool in Ghana after the Golden Stool,” she said.
Vida’s suggestion aligns with Ghana’s broader efforts, led by the Government and Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, to enhance tourism, as seen through initiatives like the ‘Year of Return’ and ‘Beyond the Return.’
