28-year-old model, Gigi Hadid, was arrested in the Cayman Islands last week after cannabis was discovered in her luggage.
Hadid and her friend arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport on 10th July via a private plane, and their luggage was searched by customs officials.
Both of them were arrested and later released on bail.
Two days afterward, during a court appearance, Hadid and her friend pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined $1,000 each, as reported by local outlet Cayman Marl Road.
Hadid’s representative stated that the marijuana was legally purchased in New York with a medical license and clarified that it has been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. The spokesperson assured that Hadid’s record remains clear, and she continued to enjoy her time on the island.
Despite the arrest news, Hadid posted pictures of her holiday on Instagram, including one of her sunbathing on the beach with friends, accompanied by the caption: “All’s well that ends well.” She also shared two more pictures on 14th July, two days after the court appearance.
Gigi Hadid started her modeling journey at the age of two when she was discovered by Paul Marciano, the co-founder of Guess and a Moroccan-born fashion designer.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with prestigious brands such as Versace, Chanel, Fendi, and Marc Jacobs. Additionally, she has graced the covers of over 30 editions of Vogue from various countries.
Furthermore, Hadid shares a daughter with Zayn Malik, a former member of the popular boy band One Direction.
