Renowned rapper and entrepreneur Desmond Blackmore known popularly as D-Black has recently criticized the entertainment industry for its self-serving nature, highlighting the reluctance of artists to collaborate for concerts and share opportunities.
During his ‘Uncut with D-Black‘ show, he expressed frustration over the limited income sources in the industry and the prevailing attitude among artists to prioritise individual gain over collective success.
D-Black emphasised, “Selfish! That’s really how our industry is like, nobody really wants to share wealth because in this entertainment space, the revenue streams are very limited.”
He pointed out a common scenario where artists prefer to keep all earnings to themselves, even when offered opportunities to recommend other performers for collaborative projects.
In contrast to this mindset, D-Black shared his strategy for success, emphasising the importance of collaboration and teamwork to create outstanding performances.
He stressed the need for artists to work together and support each other for the growth of the entertainment sector.
His remarks echo recent appeals from industry stakeholders for greater cooperation and solidarity among Ghanaian performers to foster a healthier and more vibrant entertainment ecosystem.
