Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith known popularly as Chef Smith has successfully clocked an impressive 516 hours and continues to push boundaries.
Commencing his extraordinary cooking marathon, dubbed the “cook-a-thon,” on February 1st, 2024, Chef Smith’s quest has garnered widespread attention on social media, attracting a diverse audience, including prominent celebrities, who have flocked to the venue to show their support.
This culinary feat follows the recent endeavour by Chef Faila, who embarked on a 10-day cook-a-thon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale from January 1, 2024, aiming to surpass the current 119-hour record set by Irish chef Alan Fisher. Chef Faila, aided by assistant Chef Malik Eric, sought to outdo Fisher’s achievement.
A graduate of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the National University of the Philippines, Chef Smith is now on a mission to establish a new benchmark with a 360-hour attempt for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
As of Friday, Chef Smith, who initiated his groundbreaking project on Thursday, February 1, has accumulated an impressive 516 hours and counting. Encouraging people to join him on this daring adventure, Chef Smith aims to dethrone Irish Chef Alan Fisher, who currently holds the record with a cooking time of 119 hours and 57 minutes.
