Actor Lil Win granted GHC50,000 bail, case adjourned to June 27

Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has been granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court following his arrest on Monday, June 3.

Lil Win was apprehended by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command shortly after his discharge from the hospital.

His arrest stems from a recent accident involving a vehicle he was driving, which tragically resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy.

The family of the deceased had been clamoring for justice, but the police cited health issues as the cause for the delay in his arrest.

Lil Win faces charges of dangerous driving and negligently causing harm.

Security was heightened as Lil Win appeared in court over the accident that claimed the three-year-old’s life. During the court session, the prosecution requested the accused’s availability as the investigation progresses.

Lil Win’s lawyer, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued for bail, citing her client’s injuries, including internal bleeding, and the need for further medical attention. She assured the court of Lil Win’s cooperation with the legal proceedings given his public visibility.

Despite the ongoing investigation and the significant police presence, the judge granted bail and set the case’s next hearing for June 27, 2024.
