3 things I do to deal with critics and criticisms —Stonebwoy details

Reggae and Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has explained how he deals with critics and criticisms in his line of work.

Speaking during an appearance on Onua TV’s Onua Show Time with Nana Ama McBrown on November 3, 2024, the “Bawasaba” singer discussed his music and shared insights about his career and new album, which features his recent hit song “Jejereje”.

Responding to how he deals with his somewhat constant criticisms he noted that, the first thing he does anytime is to take it to the place of prayer.

He seeks divine guidance to help discern when to respond to critics and when to let things go. He doesn’t believe in ignoring all criticism entirely, likening it to someone who, if continually poked in the leg and ignores it, may eventually lose their legs.

Stonebwoy however went on to emphasise the importance of addressing certain criticisms, acknowledging that some responses are necessary for personal and public clarity.

“I don’t believe in just getting used to criticisms and insults. Imagine someone constantly poking your leg, and you decide to ignore it. Eventually, your leg would go numb. For me, I pray for wisdom to know when to respond, when to let things go, and when to stand up for myself.

Almost every morning, I wake up to people talking about me—thousands of comments, sometimes even from the same person. But you have to ignore most of it and focus. As the saying goes, ‘It’s only a ripe pawpaw that everyone throws a stick at,’ and I try to keep that in mind as I move forward
