McDan ranks Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale as Africa’s best

Daniel McKorley, better known as McDan, the CEO of McDan Group of Companies, has entered the conversation about Africa’s music scene.

He believes Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale stand out as the most talented artists on the continent.

Speaking on BTM Afrika with NY DJ, McDan made a bold declaration regarding the two iconic musicians from Ghana.

His comments reignite a fierce debate that has often pitted Ghanaian and Nigerian music stars against one another. While Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido continue to soar internationally, McDan’s remarks emphasize the lasting and powerful influence of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, both in Ghana and beyond.

Stonebwoy, who blends Afrobeats with dancehall, and Shatta Wale, a dominant figure in the dancehall genre, have consistently captivated audiences in Ghana and around the world.

Their well-known rivalry, which once made headlines for causing disruptions at events, has only fueled their growth, driving them to hone their skills and set new standards in the industry.

  • Stonebwoy’s team denies stopping DJ Lord from playing Shatta Wale’s songs

Stonebwoy’s team denies stopping DJ Lord from playing Shatta Wale’s songs

The management of Stonebwoy has dismissed claims by popular disc jockey, DJ Lord, that they prevented him from playing Shatta Wale’s songs during the Guinness Accravaganza concert.

In a post on X on April 1, Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz, refuted the allegations, calling them fabricated. He questioned why DJ Lord would push the narrative that Stonebwoy’s team was behind the directive when he had already acknowledged that it was an event organizer who approached him.

“Just got off the phone with DJ Lord, and he admitted it was a lady from the organisers who told him that Stonebwoy’s team wouldn’t be happy if he played Wale’s songs. And just like that, you run with it? C’mon bro, think!” Chief Stylz wrote.

However, DJ Lord stood by his claims, insisting that his version of events was accurate. He maintained that the Guinness representative explicitly relayed that Stonebwoy’s team was not comfortable with a Shatta Wale back-to-back set.

“I have been faultless all my years in this industry, and I have no reason to fabricate stories. The Guinness representative explicitly relayed to us, verbatim from her phone, that ‘Stonebwoy’s team wasn’t comfortable with the Shatta Back-to-Back.’ I’m simply sharing what occurred,” DJ Lord stated.

Amid the ongoing dispute, an audio recording of a conversation between DJ Lord and Chief Stylz surfaced online. In the purported clip, Chief Stylz expressed disappointment over what he described as DJ Lord’s misrepresentation of the situation.

“Lord, what you are telling us right now isn’t what you wrote on social media… It’s like you have an agenda and you know what you are doing. If you were a good person, you wouldn’t have done what you did because we didn’t speak to any organiser,” Chief Stylz was heard saying.

Responding to the leaked audio, DJ Lord accused Stonebwoy’s team of recording the conversation without his consent and selectively editing it to fit a narrative.

“Recording without consent? Selective editing? That’s not how respectful communication works. I spoke openly in trust. Let’s not twist words to fit narratives,” he fired back.

As the controversy unfolds, the disagreement continues to spark debate among fans and industry players.

Being a musician and living a gangster lifestyle are incompatible – Kenyatta Hill to Shatta, Stonebwoy

Jamaican reggae singer Kenyatta ‘Jr. Culture’ Hill has issued a strong caution to Ghanaian dancehall stars Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, urging them to distance themselves from gangster influences.

Following his performance at the Kuchoko Roots Festival in Accra, Hill advised the two musicians to prioritize their artistry, warning that fame and riches could lead to trouble if not managed properly.

“Artists and the gangster lifestyle don’t go together,” he remarked. “They have a huge following, so they need to pause and reflect on their actions.”

His statement adds to ongoing discussions about the impact of dancehall musicians on young people in Ghana.

Hill’s words serve as a call for entertainers to be more responsible with the image they portray.

Kenyatta Hill stressed that music industry rivalries can easily get out of hand, using past clashes between dancehall icons like Bounty Killer and Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and Mavado, and Shabba Ranks and Ninja Man as examples.

He advised Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale to learn from history and not go down the same road.

“If you’re making money, make your money and treat the people good. Don’t buy no guns because that’s where the next problem is. You buy guns with the money you worked hard for, be careful, because it will come back to your doorstep—and when it comes, it won’t be nice. If you’re gonna do music, do music. Leave badman life alone. Gangsters never live past 35. Think about it,” he cautioned.

Stonebwoy single-handedly financed UK concert – Manager

The manager of award-winning dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, Chief Stylz, has disclosed that the musician personally financed his recently sold-out ‘Up and Running’ album concert in the UK.

In an interview with DJ Slim on his YouTube channel, Chief Stylz revealed that a substantial amount of money was spent on organizing and promoting the concert, even exceeding their initial budget.

“The money spent I cannot mention it now. But Stonebwoy is an artiste who doesn’t joke with his craft. I remember during the pre-production meetings, we were reviewing the costs and realized they had exceeded our initial estimates. Some of us suggested cutting back, but Stone insisted that we proceed as planned,” he stated.

He further explained that the expenses covered travel, accommodation, street promotions, production, and payment for the band, among other costs.

“I can’t give a specific figure, but the costs included travel, accommodation, street promotions, production expenses, payment for the band, and more. It wasn’t easy,” he added.

Addressing whether any brand or corporate entity sponsored the concert, Chief Stylz made it clear that all funding came from Stonebwoy himself.

“If we had sponsors, you would have seen their logos plastered across the flyers. Everything came directly from Stonebwoy himself and it was physical cash,” he emphasized.

When asked about the financial outcome of the concert, he noted that while they broke even, the main goal was the exposure and industry relevance the event provided.

“I wouldn’t say we made a loss because the social currency and the value we gained from the event can never be quantified. But on the business side, I can say we broke even,” he concluded.

Stonebwoy’s successful UK concert further cements his status as one of Ghana’s leading music exports, demonstrating his dedication to his craft and his willingness to invest in his artistry.

Our criticisms fueled Stonebwoy’s success at UK concert – Ahsis

Popular artiste manager, Nana Poku Ashis, has refuted claims that Stonebwoy faced sabotage from industry players ahead of his Up & Running album concert in the UK.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Ashis argued that instead of hindering the dancehall star, the criticisms he received pushed him to work harder, ultimately contributing to the concert’s success.

“Nobody sabotaged Stonebwoy. In fact, the criticisms he received only propelled him and his team to go the extra mile. After speaking with some of my people in the UK, I can confirm that the groundwork they did was no joke,” he stated.

Ashis also addressed claims that he dislikes Stonebwoy or any other artist, insisting that his critiques are meant to challenge artists to improve rather than bring them down.

“I am not a hater of Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale. I have no issues with any artiste in this country. I have had back-and-forth conversations with Stonebwoy, and I don’t harbor any hate for any artiste,” he explained.

His remarks come amid discussions on whether industry players genuinely support Ghanaian artists or contribute to their challenges.

Stonebwoy sheds tears of joy while performing ‘My Name’ at sold-out London show

Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy couldn’t hold back his emotions as he performed his song titled “My Name” to a packed crowd at the 2,000-capacity O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on March 8, 2025.

The song, released in 2017, is a fan favorite that tells the story of his struggles and strong faith in God. Sitting on a stool, Stonebwoy delivered a heartfelt performance, pausing at times to wipe what seemed like tears from his eyes.

A video of the emotional moment has gone viral on social media, with many fans linking it to the challenges he reportedly faced while organizing the London concert.

Before the show, his manager had accused three major London promoters—Alordia, Akwaaba UK, and West Coast—of trying to sabotage the event. However, the CEO of Akwaaba UK strongly denied the claims.

Despite concerns that the concert would flop, especially as it clashed with another event headlined by R2Bees, Stonebwoy proved doubters wrong by selling out the venue and putting on a memorable performance.

My TikTok live session with Peller was unplanned – Stonebwoy tells critics

Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent TikTok Live session with Nigerian influencer Peller, stating that the interaction was completely unplanned.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, Stonebwoy expressed disappointment over how a lighthearted moment quickly turned into an issue of public scrutiny, particularly among some Ghanaians.

He explained that while engaging with fans on TikTok Live, Peller unexpectedly joined the session. Initially, he was unaware of who the influencer was and even declined the request twice before finally accepting.

“I didn’t even recognize the name at first. I declined twice before finally accepting. Then we started vibing. I saw an opportunity to turn it into a promotional moment, so I joked about flying him to London,” Stonebwoy revealed.

What was meant to be a fun and engaging interaction, however, soon became a topic of criticism, with some Ghanaians questioning his decision to engage with Peller.

Stonebwoy lamented that instead of capitalizing on positive moments, his team often finds itself having to defend such interactions, which ultimately affects their impact.

“Instead of riding on the positive energy, we now have to defend ourselves. And by the time that’s done, the momentum is lost,” he stated.

He further noted that this was not the first time he had faced such negativity from Ghanaians. He recalled a similar incident at the Grammys, where he introduced himself to a global star but was mocked by some Ghanaians instead of being celebrated for making an important connection.

Stonebwoy called for a shift in mindset, urging Ghanaians to support their own rather than pull them down.

“It’s interesting how the negative narrative always becomes more popular. That’s the sad part. We should be elevating our own people, not dragging them down,” he emphasized.

He encouraged Ghanaians to rally behind their artists, stressing that every achievement by a Ghanaian musician contributes to the growth of the entire industry and the nation.

“We should be supportive of our own. When we win, Ghana wins,” he added.

Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has urged Ghanaians to support their own rather than tearing them down, expressing frustration over the negativity he often faces on social media.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, the award-winning musician described it as “heartbreaking” that positive moments are often overshadowed by criticism.

“It’s interesting how the negative narrative always becomes more popular. That’s the sad part. We should be elevating our own people, not dragging them down,” he emphasized.

His remarks were in response to backlash he received over a recent TikTok Live session with Nigerian influencer Peller. Stonebwoy explained that the interaction was unplanned and was simply a fun moment with fans.

“I didn’t even recognize the name at first. I declined twice before finally accepting. Then we started vibing. I saw an opportunity to turn it into a promotional moment, so I joked about flying him to London,” he said.

However, what was intended to be lighthearted quickly turned into controversy, with some Ghanaians criticizing him online.

“Instead of riding on the positive energy, we now have to defend ourselves. And by the time that’s done, the momentum is lost,” he lamented.

This is not the first time Stonebwoy has faced such criticism. He recalled a similar situation at the Grammys when he introduced himself to a global star, only to be ridiculed by some Ghanaians instead of being praised for making an important connection.

Stonebwoy called for a change in mindset, stressing that supporting Ghanaian artists benefits the entire industry and the country.

“We should be supportive of our own. When we win, Ghana wins,” he stated.

What’s wrong with targeting Grammys with a project? – DJ Slim quizzes Stonebwoy

Popular Ghanaian Disc Jockey cum media personality, DJ Slim has expressed disappointment in dancehall artiste Stonebwoy for stating that he did not create his latest album, Up and Running, with the Grammys in mind.

Reacting to Stonebwoy’s stance, DJ Slim questioned why an artiste of his caliber would not intentionally aim for such a prestigious platform.

“I was so disappointed in Stonebwoy on that day. What is wrong with targeting the Grammys with a project? Or was he afraid that if he stated he was targeting the Grammys and didn’t get a nomination, he would be ridiculed?” he asked.

Stonebwoy had earlier mentioned that while it is good to qualify for awards, he does not create music with the sole intention of winning them.

“I do not really do music targeting an award scheme. It is good when you qualify, etc., but I don’t think it makes sense to think that I am doing this particular album for the Grammys,” Stonebwoy stated.

DJ Slim, however, argued that setting such goals does not diminish an artiste’s credibility but rather pushes them to strive for excellence. He urged Ghanaian musicians to boldly pursue global recognition instead of downplaying the significance of international awards.

In a recent interview with AfroVibes in New York, the celebrated musician passionately expressed his mindset towards challenges and setbacks, sharing insights into his journey in the entertainment industry.

“We don’t give down, or give up. Where we are coming from, we don’t know give up,” he declared, emphasizing his relentless spirit.

“We don’t give down, or give up. Where we are coming from, we don’t know give up,” he declared passionately.

“I’m being honest with you because I’ve been through a lot of things. Give up is not here. You can get tired, of course, but you get right back up after resting.”

Reflecting on his upbringing, he credited his parents for instilling perseverance in him. “It’s the principles. Charity begins at home.

“It’s how my mum and dad brought me up. I see obstacles as opportunities for miracles.”

He also shared a powerful perspective on struggles.

“The moment where there’s give up, that’s where I stand up. The sweetness of life is in the struggles. The earlier we realise that, the better, so we don’t kill ourselves before time.”

  • No one is sabotaging you, do your homework, promote your show – Nana Poku Ashis tells Stonebwoy

No one is sabotaging you, do your homework, promote your show – Nana Poku Ashis tells Stonebwoy

Artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis has advised Stonebwoy and his team to focus on promoting their upcoming UK concert instead of claiming sabotage over clashing event dates.

Speaking on Hitz FM on February 20, 2025, Ashis dismissed the idea that other promoters, such as Dennis of Akwaaba UK and Alordia, were deliberately trying to undermine Stonebwoy’s show. He urged them to concentrate on their own event rather than pointing fingers.

“Why should somebody fight about this one? Do your show and allow the other person to do his show. We have various brands performing on the night. Whoever touches people’s hearts, that’s where they will go. Why are you saying they are sabotaging? Do your homework, do your research, do what you have to do. So he should drop his show for you to go on?” he questioned.

Ashis reminded Stonebwoy’s team that he is a well-established brand with a loyal fan base, emphasizing that the best way to compete is to focus on delivering a great event rather than engaging in unnecessary disputes.

“You’re a mighty Stonebwoy. Stand on your toes, stop the talking, and promote your show. Unless this is a strategic plan to generate noise, it’s unnecessary,” he added.

He also warned against underestimating event organizers like Dennis and Alordia, who have been in the industry for decades and have built strong connections in the UK music scene.

“Dennis has been doing this since 1998, and Alordia UK has a solid database. These are not just anybodies; they are event promoters who know the trade better than you. You cannot rival them; you will fail,” Ashis cautioned.

Instead of seeing them as competition, Ashis advised Stonebwoy’s management to focus on their own strategies and audience engagement.

“If they don’t have a database of the kind of people they can attract to the auditorium, they are wrestling in vain. Dennis and Alordia have held Ghanaian music in the UK for years when there was nothing for us to celebrate. Don’t try to compete with them,” he concluded.

  • We were first to announce date for our album tour – Stonebwoy’s Manager on clash with Akwaaba UK

We were first to announce date for our album tour – Stonebwoy’s Manager on clash with Akwaaba UK

Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz, has addressed recent controversies surrounding the dancehall artiste’s upcoming concert in the UK, clarifying that there was no intention to clash with any other event.

Speaking on the issue, Chief Stylz explained that Stonebwoy’s team announced their show date as far back as October.

However, in January, their business manager in London informed them that Akwaaba UK had raised concerns about their event because they were also planning a show on the same date.

“This year’s Independence weekend is a long one, and every Independence Day is also Stonebwoy’s birthday. Usually, we would be in America, but this time he decided to take it to the UK because, at that time, there was no announcement from anybody,” he said.

He believes that the controversy is an attempt to paint Stonebwoy in a bad light, as though he deliberately planned his show to compete with Akwaaba UK’s event.

“I think it is just some sort of orchestration for people to put Stonebwoy in a bad light, to make him look like he is the one trying to go against them,” he added.

Chief Stylz also pointed out that the situation is creating unnecessary tension between Stonebwoy and R2Bees, who are part of the other event.

“They’re essentially trying to pit the two artistes against each other. Stone is very good friends with R2Bees, and Stone and Mugeez are very close. I respect them; they are legends. But when this happens, it makes the fans believe that something is going on between them,” he noted.

Additionally, he refuted claims that Stonebwoy declined to perform at the 68th Independence Anniversary celebration in the UK, organized by Alordia Promotions and West Coast Entertainment.

“Alordia himself knows very well about the audios circulating… If you have a personal relationship with Stonebwoy and send a request personally, he might not see it on time. They didn’t send a request to the management, so why would they say they sent a request? There wasn’t anything like that,” he clarified.

Chief Stylz assured fans that Stonebwoy remains focused on delivering an unforgettable show and urged everyone to avoid unnecessary conflicts over the matter.

He strangled him – DJ Slim details reasons behind Blakk Cedi-Stonebwoy split

Stonebwoy has once again made headlines, this time due to his past split with former manager Blakk Cedi, which continues to leave fans curious.

Back in 2019, Stonebwoy and Blakk Cedi ended their professional relationship, citing internal issues within the Burniton Music Group. While the exact reasons for their fallout were never revealed, reports suggested that disagreements led to Blakk Cedi’s exit.

Although an official statement was released at the time confirming their separation, many fans believe there’s more to the story.

The partnership between Stonebwoy and Blakk Cedi was not just a business connection but also a close personal relationship, which has fueled ongoing speculation about the real cause of their split.

Given their close relationship, many felt that a mere misunderstanding could not have led to such a permanent severing of ties.

However, the situation took a new turn when Blakk Cedi recently linked up with Stonebwoy’s nemesis, Shatta Wale, prompting further speculation and reactions from netizens.

DJ Slim, a well-known media personality and close friend of Stonebwoy, has made bold claims about the reason behind the split between Stonebwoy and his former manager, Blakk Cedi.

Speaking on his podcast, Street is Watching, DJ Slim shared rumors from trusted sources, alleging that a heated argument between the two at the 2018 Jamaica Sumfest turned physical.

He stated that tensions flared during a meeting with stage management and performers at the event, where Blakk Cedi reportedly disagreed with Stonebwoy over certain issues. The disagreement allegedly escalated to the point where Blakk Cedi physically attacked Stonebwoy by attempting to strangle him.

“When Stonebwoy went to perform at the Jamaica Sumfest in 2018, before soundcheck, stage management, artiste, and artiste management needed to meet. But apparently, it was alleged that Cedi met some of the stage performers and went through rehearsals with them.

“So, when Stonebwoy later joined in the meeting, he disagreed with certain things, and there and then in the meeting, the attitude of Blakk Cedi changed. His attitude changed to the extent that when the Jamaicans left the meeting room, things turned physical between Blakk Cedi and Stonebwoy. He (Blakk Cedi) held Stonebwoy’s neck and strangled him,” DJ Slim stated on his Street is watching the podcast,” he stated.

‘Exodus 14:13’ – Stonebwoy reacts amid victory concert snub

Dancehall artist Stonebwoy shared a cryptic message on X(formerlly Twitter) in response to the buzz surrounding the decision after being removed from the NDC’s victory concert lineup.

The BHIM Nation leader, who often refers to himself as “the Torcher,” posted a Bible verse for his fans that read, “From the TORCHER to BHIMNATION. Exodus 14:13.”

Exodus 14:13 reads: “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.”

This mysterious post followed an official statement from the concert organizers explaining that Stonebwoy was removed due to pressure from grassroots members of the NDC.

According to reports, some supporters expressed concerns about Stonebwoy’s rumored connection to the opposition NPP, which resulted in his exclusion.

Additionally, there is speculation that Baba Sadiq, who has a known rivalry with Stonebwoy, may have played a role in the decision.

Baba Sadiq, an influential figure in the entertainment industry and the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi Central, has been at logger heads with Stonebwoy throughout 2024, further fuelling the belief that his involvement could be a key factor in Stonebwoy’s exclusion from the event.

Other netizens have seen the move as part of what they describe as a broader ‘sabotage’ of Stonebwoy’s career, with the situation unfolding.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress‘ election victory concert, dubbed the ‘Ghana Victory Concert’, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.

  • Baba Sadiq trends; netizens suspects his involvement in Stonebwoy’s drop from NDC’s victory concert

Baba Sadiq trends; netizens suspects his involvement in Stonebwoy’s drop from NDC’s victory concert

After the NDC decided to remove Stonebwoy from their election victory concert, they explained that some of their supporters were unhappy, mentioning concerns about his rumored connections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, many people online suspect that Baba Sadiq, who has had issues with Stonebwoy in the past, may be behind the decision.

Baba Sadiq, an influential figure in the entertainment industry and the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi Central, has had a long-standing feud with Stonebwoy throughout 2024, and they are currently not on good terms.

Some netizens predicted that when the NDC finally comes to power, Stonebwoy may not be favoured under the administration, as Baba Sadiq, an active member of the party, could go to great lengths to block his opportunities.

As Baba Sadiq is currently involved in a legal battle for the Okaikoi Central seat, some online users believe that Stonebwoy’s situation could worsen if Sadiq wins and becomes a Member of Parliament or even the Creative Arts Minister in a John Mahama-led government.

These speculations, along with the recent decision to exclude Stonebwoy from the NDC’s upcoming concert, have led many to feel that efforts to harm Stonebwoy’s career might already be underway.

The Rift Between Baba Sadiq and Stonebwoy

The conflict between Baba Sadiq and Stonebwoy started when Stonebwoy didn’t attend Baba Sadiq’s 3Music Sallahfest event, citing a breach of their agreement. Stonebwoy said that they had agreed not to share flyers for the concert since it was a charity event, not a paid one.

However, he claimed that Baba Sadiq went ahead and shared the flyers, which led Stonebwoy to cancel his participation just days before the event. On the other hand, Baba Sadiq said that Stonebwoy didn’t show up because he was upset that his music rival, Shatta Wale, was also scheduled to perform at the same event.

The Artiste of the Year saga

Baba Sadiq intensified his conflict with Stonebwoy during the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards when he actively campaigned for King Promise to win the “Artiste of the Year” title.

Baba Sadiq argued that Stonebwoy didn’t deserve the award, stating that King Promise was a better candidate.

He used social media, as well as radio and TV platforms, to publicly back King Promise and criticize Stonebwoy’s achievements from the past year.

The alleged threat and Baba Sadiq’s rants

As the online tension between the two went on, Baba Sadiq alleged that Stonebwoy had placed a call to his wife, threatening her to “keep him in check.”

Baba Sadiq expressed his displeasure, saying that Stonebwoy had disrespected his wife by involving her in their feud.

    Further rants, allegations, and lawsuit

Baba Sadiq intensified his attacks, describing Stonebwoy’s public personality as a “facade” and alleging that the BHIM Nation boss was a “privately horrible and arrogant person.”

He also accused Stonebwoy of being a “violent abuser of women.”

In reaction to the accusations, Stonebwoy took legal action against Baba Sadiq, demanding GH¢3 million in compensation for defamation. Meanwhile, Baba Sadiq stood firm, showing no remorse for his comments or actions.

Ghana Victory Concert: Stonebwoy removed from list of artist to perform

Organizers of the Ghana Victory Concert have announced that Stonebwoy will no longer be performing at the event, despite prior plans. They explained the decision was due to concerns from grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In their statement, they apologized to NDC supporters for the oversight and expressed regret over the decision, also offering an apology to Stonebwoy and his team for the unfortunate situation.

The Ghana Victory Concert was meant to celebrate the success of the 2024 elections and promote peace and unity. However, Stonebwoy’s removal from the lineup has sparked debate online, with some questioning if the event is politically motivated.

Some people have even suggested that his exclusion is linked to his perceived support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the election period.

Others speculate that the decision may be tied to his alleged refusal to perform at NDC rallies, suggesting that this might have influenced his omission from the victory celebrations.

Neither Stonebwoy nor the NDC has officially commented on the development, leaving many to await clarification on the reasons behind the decision.

Former manager of dancehall artist Stonebwoy, Blakk Cedi, has been spotted in Jamaica offering his support to Shatta Wale ahead of his performance at Vybz Kartel’s much-anticipated Freedom Street concert.

Videos of Blakk Cedi meeting with Shatta Wale have been circulating online, sparking excitement and discussions among fans. Many see this gesture as a significant show of support for Shatta Wale, who is the only Ghanaian artist invited to perform at the event.

The move has been widely praised as a unifying moment within Ghana’s music industry.

The development comes shortly after Stonebwoy’s controversial remarks, where he downplayed Shatta Wale’s participation in the Freedom Street concert.

In a recent interview, Stonebwoy hinted that Shatta Wale’s role at the Freedom Street concert was limited to being a curtain-raiser, dismissing it as a move to align with international artists for personal gain.

However, his former manager Blakk Cedi’s presence in Jamaica seems to contradict this narrative.

The Freedom Street concert is a major milestone in Jamaican music, returning after a long break due to Vybz Kartel’s incarceration.

Now free, the event’s founder has made a grand comeback, curating a diverse lineup featuring artists from Africa and the Caribbean to mark this historic occasion.

While the dispute sparked heated exchanges and public attention, Samini, who has mentored Stonebwoy, stepped in to address the issue, calling for calm and hinting at a potential resolution to the conflict.

The veteran musician, who appeared displeased with the situation, assured fans that everything would eventually be settled.

Samini, addressing the situation, said, “Order will be restored at home… The second generation will have to study history a bit further to understand. But on the grand scheme of things, we have chosen to let whatever has been against us be for us henceforth.

“Humility alone cannot do it without patience. Allow the offended to heal and be careful not to let entitlement replace loyalty. #HGFBHIM @kelvynboymusic_ @stonebwoy.”

About Stonebwoy and Kelvyn Boy’s split

In January 2019, Stonebwoy parted ways with his mentee Kelvyn Boy after the latter was officially signed to Burniton Music Group in 2018.

Their split was reportedly due to misunderstandings that arose during their time together.

According to reports, although there was an option for Stonebwoy to renew the contract, Kelvyn Boy’s misconduct shown during his time with the BHIM Nation boss led to him deciding to end the relationship.

Kelvyn Boy refutes Stonebwoy’s allegations of attempted murder

Ghanaian musician and Down flat hit-maker, Kelvynboy has broken his silence once again, this time to address serious allegations made by Stonebwoy.

The BHIM Nation boss recently claimed that God saved him from a life-threatening situation involving Kelvyn Boy, saying, “You would have heard I was dead.”

In a social media post, Kelvyn Boy expressed disbelief at the accusations, calling them false and defamatory.

“I’ve been shook since I saw the interview. Like how? The lies and defamation have become a bit too much. What go ever give you the impression say I try end you? Everything at all I go fit gyee eye like I have for years. But for this? Nooo,” he wrote in English and Pijin.

While Stonebwoy referenced musician D-Black and talent manager Papa Loggy as witnesses to Kelvyn Boy’s alleged actions, Kelvyn Boy denied having any recent connections with them.

“D Black and Papa Loggy? Haven’t seen D Black in five years or more. You know the things Loggy tell me two years ago? Me and dem no be friends. So what exactly?” he questioned.

The controversy follows years of tension between the two artists, with Kelvyn Boy previously accusing Stonebwoy of sabotaging his career after their fallout.

Despite his frustrations, Kelvyn Boy maintained he could overlook the mistreatment but would not accept claims that he tried to harm Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy, in a separate statement, insisted he bore no grudge against Kelvyn Boy but vowed never to let him back into his life. “I don’t hold anything against him, but he will never get close to me again. It will never happen. It was God who took me out of whatever happened between us,” Stonebwoy said.

The feud continues to spark debates among fans, with both sides adamant about their versions of the events.

What Stonebwoy recently said About Kelvyn Boy

After years of silence following their fallout, Stonebwoy was recently asked during a discussion with Angel FM’s Ike De Unpredictable why he has not accepted Kelvyn Boy’s “peace offerings,” despite several attempts from the ‘Down Flat’ hitmaker.

In his response about his former protégé, Kelvyn Boy, Stonebwoy said, “Take your eyes off that situation. I don’t want to dwell on it. Call D-Black and have this conversation with him. He’ll tell you everything you need to know. Call Papa Logy and D-Black; they will give you a full rundown of how everything unfolded.”

He continued, “I don’t hold anything against him, but he will never get close to me again. It will never happen. It was God who took me out of whatever happened between us. God saw that my heart was pure, and He took me out. It was God who saved me. You would have heard that I was dead.”

“Can you marry a doctor if you don’t have sense?” – Stonebwoy quizzes

Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy recently caused a stir during an interview with Angel FM, where he proudly spoke about his wife, Dr. Louisa, and made a bold statement regarding marriage to a doctor.

His comments followed the host mentioning that people had been referring to him as “the doctor’s husband.” Stonebwoy responded by saying that only sensible men are capable of marrying a doctor, a remark that quickly went viral on social media.

“Can you marry a doctor if you dont have sense?” he quizzed rhetorically.

The statement has sparked mixed reactions online. While some agreed with Stonebwoy, seeing it as a lighthearted comment about the qualities needed in a partner, others felt it was unnecessary and controversial.

Stonebwoy hits back amid Shatta Wale’s Jamaica Concert buzz

Stonebwoy has reignited his feud with longtime rival Shatta Wale, raising questions about Shatta’s upcoming performance at Vybz Kartel’s much-anticipated concert in Jamaica.

The announcement that Shatta Wale would perform alongside one of Jamaica’s top international stars, Vybz Kartel, thrilled fans, who saw it as a huge milestone in Shatta’s music career.

Supporters celebrated the news, hailing it as a major breakthrough for the Ghanaian dancehall scene.

Some fans of Shatta Wale used the opportunity to take jabs at Stonebwoy, suggesting that Shatta’s inclusion in such a high-profile concert proves he is now the preferred choice for international opportunities.

They highlighted Shatta’s recent achievements, like his feature on Beyoncé’s project, as evidence of his growing global recognition.

However, Stonebwoy, often referred to as the “face of reggae and dancehall” in Ghana, has spoken out to set the record straight. In an interview with Ike De Unpredictable on Angel FM, he defended his own accomplishments, emphasizing his long-standing contributions to the genre.

Stonebwoy reminded fans of his history of collaborating with top Jamaican artistes and even facilitating their performances in Ghana. He specifically mentioned bringing dancehall star Spice to the country, underscoring his efforts to bridge the gap between Ghanaian and Jamaican music.

“Can he fly someone home? What he is now going to do in Jamaica, I’ve done it several times. It was in 2018 that I performed at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica. Reggae Sumfest is the biggest reggae festival, alongside Rebel Salute. Go and check and see. Our big brother Samini even went to perform at the Champions in Action festival. I don’t know how many of you remember this,” Stonebwoy fumed.

He added, “Just recently, I brought a whole dancehall queen, Spice, to Ghana.”

The host then pointed out, “People say you’ve been bringing Jamaican acts to Ghana, but in Shatta Wale’s case, he has been prestigiously flown to Jamaica for this show. Have you heard?”

Stonebwoy, visibly irritated, responded, “Is it Jamaica that I haven’t been to before? I’ve gone past that stage. Now, I’m the one bringing them home. Check and see which one is more expensive.”

Stonebwoy went on to downplay Shatta Wale’s role in the upcoming Vybz Kartel concert, claiming that Shatta Wale’s involvement is just minimal. He described Shatta as a “curtain raiser” for the event.

“This is just his second time going to Jamaica, and even at that, he’s just going to raise the curtains at Vybz Kartel’s show,” Stonebwoy said.

The host, clearly taken aback, asked, “Did you say he’s going to raise the curtains?”

Stonebwoy replied, “Ghanaians hate the truth so much. I have so much to say.”

Stonebwoy’s recent statements about Shatta Wale have seemingly revived their long-standing rivalry and fueled intense online debates between their fans.

About Vybz Kartel’s ‘Freedom Concert’ and Shatta Wale’s role

Shatta Wale has been confirmed as the sole Ghanaian performer at the highly anticipated Freedom Street concert, headlined by Jamaican dancehall legend Vybz Kartel.

Scheduled for December 31, 2024, at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, the event will mark Vybz Kartel’s first live performance in over 14 years, following his recent release from prison.

The concert will also feature international stars such as Skillibeng, Busta Rhymes, Popcaan, and Spice.

People like Dr Likee should be supported with prayers and not fought against – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy has come out in support of comedian and actor Dr. Likee, urging people to appreciate him for his unique contributions instead of engaging in any form of conflict.

Stonebwoy described Dr. Likee as a one-of-a-kind individual, comparing him to iconic figures who define their time.

During an interview on Angel FM, he said, “The way he is and what the boys say about him show that he is a special human being and I will plead that people should not fight him. They should rather pray for him because people like him are special. He is special like Agya Koo and all of that. Every season and every era you find people.

“It is like a football team, someone can be captain, but if you take the goalkeeper out, it is not a whole. If you take the number 9 out, it doesn’t end well,” he said.

“It wasn’t genuine” – Stonebwoy on Shatta Wale’s effort in 2019 to be at peace with him

Stonebwoy has opened up about his infamous feud with Shatta Wale in 2019, revealing that he never believed in Shata Wale’s effort to smoke the peace pipe with him.

In a recent interview on Angel FM before his Legacy Nite performance at Miklin Hotel in Kumasi on Sunday, December 29, 2024, the BHIM Nation boss expressed his doubts about the authenticity of his effort.

“I knew from the start that it wasn’t genuine,” Stonebwoy said bluntly. “Shatta and his team had their own agenda.

They weren’t really interested in making peace; it was all for show.” His remarks shed light on his skepticism about the reconciliation, particularly after years of public insults from Shatta Wale.

Although Stonebwoy had doubts, he chose to attend the peace conference, saying it wasn’t about him, but about the fans and the country as a whole.

“This is someone who has insulted me countless times,” he continued. “I had my doubts about reconciling with him, but I went ahead for the sake of our fans and the country. It wasn’t about me-it was about the bigger picture.”

Stonebwoy took the chance to set the record straight about his involvement in the legendary Asaase Sound Clash in 2020.

Although Asaase Radio is often credited with organizing the event, Stonebwoy firmly stated that the idea for the clash was originally his.

“That clash? It was my idea,” he revealed. “Shatta Wale can twist the story all he wants, but the truth is, I proposed it. Asaase Radio came on board later to support. People need to know the facts.”

Stonebwoy renders apology to his wife for stage misconduct at BHIMFEST

Multiple Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has issued a public apology to his wife, Dr. Louisa Ansong Satekla, following a performance at the 2024 BHIM Festival where he danced provocatively with Jamaican dancehall star Spice.

The incident, which took place on December 22, 2024, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, sparked controversy especially since he was a married man.

During the performance, Stonebwoy and Spice delivered an energetic rendition of their hit song “Jiggle and Whine” from Stonebwoy’s 2024 album “Up and Runnin6.”

Their on-stage chemistry included a moment where Stonebwoy danced closely with Spice, a move that was highly condemned by the majority of the public and it was deemed inappropriate.

In a video that circulated online, Stonebwoy is seen addressing his wife directly after the performance, saying, “It was all for showbiz.” He emphasized that the dance was purely for entertainment purposes and held no deeper significance.

This light-hearted apology was met with cheers from the audience, and Dr. Louisa, present at the event, appeared to take the gesture in stride.

Some found the moment entertaining and a testament to Stonebwoy’s showmanship, while others debated the appropriateness of such interactions given his marital status.

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist Stonebwoy says he is currently mulling an invitation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to perform at one of their campaign rallies ahead of the 2024 polls in December.

Making an appearance on Hitz FM on November 28, 2024, the “Bawasaaba singer” revealed multiple political parties have knocked on his doors to perform, including the NDC.

Stonebwoy clarified that although he has not personally engaged in discussions with NDC representatives, there has been communication from the party.

However, he asserted that his acceptance of these invitations would be primarily based on the party’s ability to settle his financial demands.

“There are a few offers I’m considering. I believe there’s one from the NDC. To clarify, I haven’t spoken directly to anyone from the NDC, but there has been a call from them.

We’re negotiating the financial terms, and if they are favourable, I’ll perform for my fans and use some of the money for the BHIM Festival,” he added.

He also emphasised the importance of peace during the election period, stating, “December is coming, so peaceful elections are all we seek.

Whenever you see me on any platform, I’m performing for peace, whether it’s for NPP, NDC, or CPP. It’s all for peace because we are all one Ghana. Ghana first, Ghana must win in the end,” he concluded.

I’m staying quiet for now, but not for long – Shatta Wale on Sally Mann attacks

Shatta Wale has addressed the ongoing criticism and disrespect directed at him by media personality Sally Mann, who has consistently been outspoken against him.

Sally Mann, known for her blunt remarks, has frequently labelled the dancehall artist a “failed musician” and used various media platforms to criticise his career. She has repeatedly claimed that Shatta Wale’s musical influence has waned, often expressing support for his rival, Stonebwoy.

In one instance, Sally went as far as daring Shatta Wale to a physical fight, asserting that he wouldn’t stand a chance against her.

Recently, she alleged that there is a deliberate effort to elevate Stonebwoy while undermining Shatta Wale’s career, accusing the dancehall star of disregarding the importance of traditional media.

But in response to all these, Shatta Wale, during an interview on Angel FM, explained that he has refrained from taking action against Sally Mann’s constant attacks because any response would likely see him labelled as the villain.

“Look at how Sally Mann has been attacking and disrespecting me. If I strike back, people will say I don’t respect. I’m staying quiet for now, but I won’t let these attacks on my character go unchallenged anymore. I’m doing my own thing in my corner. Nobody should come and disturb me. If you worry me, I won’t respect the law because the law isn’t working in Ghana,” he fumed.

Shatta Wale further stated that he hasn’t taken legal action against anyone, particularly critics like Sally Mann, yet because he believes he won’t gain anything financially substantial from it.

“Look at how I’m disrespected all over radio stations in Ghana. I haven’t sued anyone because I know I won’t get a dime from them. They don’t have money,” he added.

  • The plan was to ‘pension’ Shatta Wale, you are that difficult – Sally Mann tells Stonebwoy

The plan was to ‘pension’ Shatta Wale, you are that difficult – Sally Mann tells Stonebwoy

Entertainment pundit and show host Sally Mann has revealed that she, along with other media figures in Ghana, had devised a plan to undermine the career of dancehall artist Shatta Wale.

In an appearance on Adom TV on November 10, 2024, Sally explained that their main goal was to elevate Stonebwoy and support his path to winning a Grammy, deliberately sidelining Shatta Wale in the process.

She further claimed that their actions were driven by what she described as Shatta Wale’s lack of respect toward media personalities in the country.

“We held caucus meetings to push Stonebwoy towards winning a Grammy. The agenda was clear: we are supporting you (Stonebwoy) because Shatta Wale doesn’t respect traditional media. But now, you (Stonebwoy) are deviating from the plan by responding to Shatta Wale. How dare you respond to him?” she said.

“The agenda was to take you to the Grammys, and as for him (Shatta Wale), his career is over. He is now a pensioner. Look at how well you’ve done over the past three years, even with your 5th Dimension album. But now you’re making things difficult for us. Don’t be a puppet for Shatta Wale,” she added.

Sally also raised concerns about Stonebwoy’s habit of responding to matters that could be left ignored.

She warned that his frequent comments, particularly his statement that the Jejereje remix with Skrewfaze isn’t ideal, could damage his brand and hinder some opportunities.

“As a sensible person, you should know that your fans alone can’t get you a Grammy. If Skrewfaze jumps on a track, he can bring his fans into the mix too. You talk too much; PR work isn’t for everyone. Stop trying to do the job of a PR person. That’s why you have someone in charge to handle that for you,” she advised.

    Background

Sally Mann’s comments follow recent remarks from Stonebwoy, who stated that a remix of his new song Jejereje with hip-hop artist Skrewfaze would not be commercially advantageous for him.

The BHIM Nation president has recently faced backlash, with some accusing him of making unnecessary comments and excessively promoting himself during international interviews.

In a recent interview on the streets of London, Stonebwoy claimed that some Ghanaians often mistake him for a foreigner, especially a Jamaican.

He also drew criticism after estimating the value of his “expensive” outfit, noting that he purchased it from the same stores frequented by artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid.

  • Shatta Wale responds to Sally Mann’s ‘Stonebwoy Grammy agenda’ confession

Shatta Wale responds to Sally Mann’s ‘Stonebwoy Grammy agenda’ confession

Shatta Wale has fired back after Sally Mann claimed that she and several other key figures in the industry met privately to push Stonebwoy’s interests, sidelining Shatta Wale in the process.

In a recent appearance on an Adom TV show, Sally Mann revealed that she, alongside a few others, held a behind-the-scenes discussion with the aim of boosting Stonebwoy’s career.

She explained that the meeting was necessary because Shatta Wale, in her view, has shown little respect for traditional media.

Sally also used the opportunity to criticise Stonebwoy, accusing him of speaking excessively and unnecessarily in recent times.

“For the past three years, we’ve held caucus meetings to push your agenda because Shatta Wale doesn’t respect traditional media,” Sally said.

“We came together to push you towards winning a Grammy. But now, you’re deviating from the plan by responding to Shatta Wale. How dare you respond to him? The agenda is to sideline Shatta Wale and elevate you, but you’re making it difficult for us. Don’t be a puppet for Shatta Wale,” she added.

Sally Mann’s remarks have sparked a significant online debate, particularly given the ongoing rumours about efforts to marginalize Shatta Wale in the industry.

Shatta Wale has long voiced concerns about what he sees as a concerted effort by industry leaders to undermine him, claiming they’ve been sabotaging his career and blocking his access to opportunities. He has even highlighted that some media outlets have placed a ban on his music.

In light of Sally Mann’s recent comments, Shatta Wale, feeling vindicated, took to social media to share his thoughts on the matter.

“Dem say dem do meeting to bring me down, ooo,” he wrote in a mix of Pidgin and English, alongside a post on Twitter.

‘My little brother Stonebwoy, I am not anxious for any feature on your Jejereje song’ – Skrewfaze

US-based Ghanaian musician Skrewfaze has voiced his disappointment over remarks made by dancehall artist Stonebwoy about his song “Jejereje.”

During a live TikTok session, the “Gbalagazaa” hitmaker clarified that he’s in no hurry to join Stonebwoy’s track “Jejereje.”

Skrewfaze explained that his live video discussing a potential collaboration with Stonebwoy was purely in response to frequent requests from his fans.

“My little brother (Stonebwoy), I want to say I am proud of your achievements. But let’s get this straight, I want you to understand that I am not anxious for any feature. The only reason why I did that live TikTok freestyle of your (Jejereje) song was because of the messages I was receiving in my inbox from my fans.

“I respect your decision, but one thing you should know is I am one of the people who laid the foundation for you,” he said.

Skewfaze added that he is, however, open to a possible feature if the “Jejereje” singer approaches him.

“But one thing you should also understand is that I don’t know the plans you have with your team on that song. That’s why I said if your team should reach out, I wouldn’t mind doing a verse on it. Because of self-respect, that is why I asked you to call me. As an artist, you should know how things are done in the industry,” he added.

3 things I do to deal with critics and criticisms —Stonebwoy details

Reggae and Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has explained how he deals with critics and criticisms in his line of work.

Speaking during an appearance on Onua TV’s Onua Show Time with Nana Ama McBrown on November 3, 2024, the “Bawasaba” singer discussed his music and shared insights about his career and new album, which features his recent hit song “Jejereje”.

Responding to how he deals with his somewhat constant criticisms he noted that, the first thing he does anytime is to take it to the place of prayer.

He seeks divine guidance to help discern when to respond to critics and when to let things go. He doesn’t believe in ignoring all criticism entirely, likening it to someone who, if continually poked in the leg and ignores it, may eventually lose their legs.

Stonebwoy however went on to emphasise the importance of addressing certain criticisms, acknowledging that some responses are necessary for personal and public clarity.

“I don’t believe in just getting used to criticisms and insults. Imagine someone constantly poking your leg, and you decide to ignore it. Eventually, your leg would go numb. For me, I pray for wisdom to know when to respond, when to let things go, and when to stand up for myself.

Almost every morning, I wake up to people talking about me—thousands of comments, sometimes even from the same person. But you have to ignore most of it and focus. As the saying goes, ‘It’s only a ripe pawpaw that everyone throws a stick at,’ and I try to keep that in mind as I move forward

A remix of Jejereje with Screwfaze wouldn’t add any significant commercial value – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has revealed that creating a remix of his latest track, Jejereje, with hiplife artist Screwfaze may not be a financially advantageous move for him.

Speaking on Onua Showtime on November 3, 2024, Stonebwoy shared that although he values the artistic appeal of featuring the Gbalagazaa hitmaker on the remix, he believes the collaboration would generate more excitement among fans than commercial profit. Nevertheless, he hinted at his intention to collaborate with various artists on the track to enhance its musical appeal.

“I have heard people talking about the fact that I should have a remix of the “Jejereje” song with Screwfaze. It is a good idea, but adding him to the song would not add any commercial to the song. It would only be for its niceness,” he said.

Stonebwoy also mentioned that Screwfaze could have created his own version of the song without needing to be approached.

“If the song sparked the energy of a legend, the only thing he could have done was to do a version of the beat without being asked to. I don’t have to reach out to him. We have plans and we can’t go against them,” he added.

Stonebwoy’s recent comments align with those of his team member MC Portfolio, who also argued that remixing Jejereje with Screwfaze wouldn’t be a commercially viable decision.

MC Portfolio had previously suggested that collaborating with Nigerian artist Flavour N’abania or Ivorian singer Freddy Meiway would have a stronger impact, potentially broadening the song’s international appeal.

Jejereje, which Stonebwoy released in September 2024 as part of his Up & Coming album, features guitarist Ginton and has already attracted significant attention, amassing over 1.6 million views on YouTube.

Stonebwoy says many Ghanaians see him as a Jamaican

Renowned Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has revealed that many people in Ghana often mistake him for a foreign artist, particularly from Jamaica, due to his dancehall style and extensive international collaborations.

In a recent fashion interview circulating on social media, the BHIM Nation president addressed a popular misconception about him, saying, “People in Ghana often think I’m Jamaican. Many believe I’m actually from abroad.”

Stonebwoy’s Caribbean-influenced sound and collaborations with iconic Jamaican artists, like Morgan Heritage and Sean Paul, have contributed to this perception.

In a previous interview, he shared that he has worked with over 47 artists globally, with more unreleased projects still on the way.

Stonebwoy refutes rumours regarding a Grammy nomination for his new album

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artiste, Stonebwoy, has dismissed speculation that his latest album, “Up & Running,” was released with the primary goal of winning a Grammy Award.

At the album’s release party on October 23, Stonebwoy, who is the current TGMA Artiste of the Year, noted that prioritising an award over his fans’ satisfaction would be a “great disservice.”

He clarified that while a Grammy nomination and win would be welcomed, it was not the driving force behind the album’s creation.

“Really and truly God knows my heart…If it does happen to qualify and win, it will be part of the things that will speed up my art and craft but then it is not my sole intention that I am creating this album for the Grammys else if it doesn’t win then I think that I will be doing a lot of disservice to the people who are beyond award schemes; the fans, the loved ones and those who relate to the music for their personal life.

“I do not really do music targeting an award scheme. It is good when you qualify, etc but I don’t think it makes sense to think that I am doing this particular album for the Grammys.

“If it does qualify for all the features that I have done, of course we must receive it because it’s worth it,” Stonebwoy said.

Despite his successful career, Stonebwoy, whose real name is Livingstone Etsa Satekla, remains one of Ghana’s leading musicians without a Grammy nomination to his name.

The only Ghanaian artist to have received multiple Grammy nominations is reggae musician Ricky Dawuni. However, after four attempts, he has yet to secure a Grammy Award.

I accept Efia Odo’s apology, she did an honorable thing – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artist Stonebwoy recently shared his thoughts on reconciling with socialite and video vixen Efia Odo.

The two mended their relationship during the All-Black Party at Ridge Condos in Kumasi, following a period of tension.

The disagreement arose after Efia Odo publicly backed King Promise for the 2024 Artiste of the Year award, a move that appeared to overlook Stonebwoy.

In an interview with MC Portfolio, Stonebwoy addressed the situation, acknowledging that Efia Odo’s support for King Promise was a result of her strong friendship with him.

He noted that her actions, while perhaps an overreaction, were well-intentioned, and that she later recognized her mistake and offered an apology.

“She was expressing her opinion, and it was clear to everyone on social media that she was advocating for a friend. She realized she had overstepped and took the necessary steps to apologize,” Stonebwoy remarked.

Stonebwoy also expressed his surprise at the initial conflict, considering his long-standing relationship with Efia Odo. He mentioned that their long history made the situation more unexpected but appreciated her decision to make amends.

“It was surprising. I’ve known Efia Odo for years, and we even talked about our past when we met again. I think she made an honorable move by apologizing, but it would be interesting to hear from her what prompted her to change her stance,” he added.

Stonebwoy suggested that understanding Efia Odo’s reasons for her actions could provide valuable insight and potentially reflect positively on him in the end.

I’m fully confident in my achievements and the recognition from the Ghana Music Awards.”

He questioned the need for additional proof, highlighting that key figures like Kwame Sefa Kayi and DJ Black are aware of the situation.

  • I didn’t buy GIMPA certificate, I worked hard to earn it – Stonebwoy

I didn’t buy GIMPA certificate, I worked hard to earn it – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has expressed frustration over allegations that his GIMPA (Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration) certificate was obtained through improper means.

In a recent interview with GTV’s Kafui Dey, Stonebwoy addressed the accusations, dismissing them as the result of a “daft mentality.”

He highlighted the stringent measures at GIMPA, including surveillance cameras in exam rooms, which make cheating virtually impossible.

“I want to address these naysayers because sometimes their noise drowns out the truth. There are cameras in the exam halls, which shows how difficult it is to cheat. You have to study; you can’t beat the system,” he said.

Stonebwoy emphasized that success at the institution requires genuine effort and study.

The musician also took aim at those perpetuating these claims, accusing them of undermining his achievements with negativity.

“Ahwenepa nkasa [‘quality beads’ don’t make much noise], but when we stay silent for too long, it allows foolishness to prevail. Claiming GIMPA gifted me the certificate, what poverty-stricken mentality is that? What kind of failure mentality is that?” he asked.

Stonebwoy further elaborated that he had to attend evening classes to accommodate his busy schedule.

“I had to attend evening classes because the morning option didn’t fit my schedule. It’s not easy, there are even cameras in the exam hall, let nobody lie to anyone,” he stated.

He reassured listeners that the rigorous examination environment, including surveillance, ensured the integrity of his academic accomplishments.

  • “I don’t like throwing money at fans, it’s disrespectful” – Stonebwoy

“I don’t like throwing money at fans, it’s disrespectful” – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy, the acclaimed Reggae Dancehall artist, has explained why he chooses not to throw money at his fans during performances.

He shared that while tossing cash into the crowd may appear generous, it often fails to achieve its intended purpose.

This method can result in uneven distribution, with some fans receiving more money than others.

Furthermore, the rush to grab the money can lead to injuries, undermining the gesture’s goodwill.

Stonebwoy emphasized that he prefers to distribute money directly to individuals when the timing is appropriate, rather than throwing it into the crowd.

“I don’t like throwing money at fans, but we are Ghanaians, so sometimes our perspectives differ. I think it’s disrespectful. If I throw money into the crowd, one person could get more than the others. So, I prefer giving it to people individually when the time is right rather than throwing it. Even then, many people suffer casualties that we don’t hear about.

“As we throw money from a convoy, people get injured all the time. People accuse me of not throwing money, but it’s for these reasons. So, I time it and give the money at the right moment. It’s good to throw money at fans, but it doesn’t really fulfill the purpose of giving,” he said in Twi in a video shared on Instagram by aba.the.great.

He believes that tossing money can be disrespectful and potentially harmful, as it can cause accidents and create disparities among fans.

He acknowledged that some may criticize him for not adopting the more flamboyant approach of throwing money but defended his choice by highlighting the potential for injury and inequality.

Stonebwoy’s approach aims to ensure that his contributions are more considerate and impactful.

Currently, Stonebwoy is the reigning Artiste of the Year at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, a title he has won twice.
