A remix of Jejereje with Screwfaze wouldn’t add any significant commercial value – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has revealed that creating a remix of his latest track, Jejereje, with hiplife artist Screwfaze may not be a financially advantageous move for him.

Speaking on Onua Showtime on November 3, 2024, Stonebwoy shared that although he values the artistic appeal of featuring the Gbalagazaa hitmaker on the remix, he believes the collaboration would generate more excitement among fans than commercial profit. Nevertheless, he hinted at his intention to collaborate with various artists on the track to enhance its musical appeal.

“I have heard people talking about the fact that I should have a remix of the “Jejereje” song with Screwfaze. It is a good idea, but adding him to the song would not add any commercial to the song. It would only be for its niceness,” he said.

Stonebwoy also mentioned that Screwfaze could have created his own version of the song without needing to be approached.

“If the song sparked the energy of a legend, the only thing he could have done was to do a version of the beat without being asked to. I don’t have to reach out to him. We have plans and we can’t go against them,” he added.

Stonebwoy’s recent comments align with those of his team member MC Portfolio, who also argued that remixing Jejereje with Screwfaze wouldn’t be a commercially viable decision.

MC Portfolio had previously suggested that collaborating with Nigerian artist Flavour N’abania or Ivorian singer Freddy Meiway would have a stronger impact, potentially broadening the song’s international appeal.

Jejereje, which Stonebwoy released in September 2024 as part of his Up & Coming album, features guitarist Ginton and has already attracted significant attention, amassing over 1.6 million views on YouTube.
