Choice for running mate left to Bawumia; he’ll let us know when ready – Nana Akomea

Former Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has disclosed that the party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will announce his running mate by May.

Contrary to media reports suggesting that certain personalities have already been settled on, Akomea clarified that Dr. Bawumia has not yet made a decision regarding his running mate. He emphasized that several factors, including gender, origin, originality, and personality, will be considered in the selection process.

“The choice of the running mate is left to the flagbearer. He will consider a lot of factors… When he’s got a name or two, he will bring it to the political party,” Akomea stated.

He projected that Dr. Bawumia might make the announcement in April or May, allowing ample time for deliberation and decision-making.

Discussing the dynamics of the upcoming 2024 elections, Akomea highlighted the NPP’s majority presence in the Northern Region, attributing this success in part to Dr. Bawumia’s influence. He underscored Bawumia’s significance as a presidential candidate and noted the perceived threat he poses to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Akomea asserted that Bawumia’s candidacy has caused panic within the NDC, as evidenced by their focus on him during the election campaigns.

As Dr. Bawumia continues to engage with the nation and promote his ideas, Akomea predicts a further decline in the NDC’s influence.
