Ghanaian rapper, Pappy Kojo, has expressed disappointment over Cecilia Dapaah‘s decision to resign as the sanitation minister.

Amid the scandal involving stolen foreign and local currencies by her house helps, Cecilia Dapaah announced stepping aside to facilitate further investigations.

In her resignation letter addressed to President Akufo-Addo, she emphasized not wanting the matter to distract the government during a crucial time.

During a discussion on the United Showbiz, Pappy Kojo shared his thoughts, criticizing the minister’s resignation as unwise.

He believes resigning in such circumstances might imply guilt, whereas he would have fought to prove his innocence if he were in her position.

Pappy Kojo suggested that the resignation might be due to a guilty conscience and speculated that Cecilia Dapaah, as a woman, might not want to be embroiled in the chaos.

The rapper, however, clarified his lack of interest in politics, stating that such matters do not concern him, and he identifies himself as an Italian.

“She was the victim so I don’t know why she had to resign. Resigning at this point feels like she is guilty of something. She resigned out of guilty conscience, because if I am a victim, resigning won’t be the first thing to do. I will fight to prove that I am a victim. Resigning is like giving up. But then again, she is a woman so maybe she doesn’t want to be caught in the chaos,” he stated.

Background

On Friday, July 21, it was reported that two house helps of the minister were facing charges in an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing a substantial amount of money, including $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis, from Cecilia Dapaah’s residence in Abelenkpe, Accra, in October 2022.

The accused, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei, allegedly committed the theft between July and October 2022.

They have been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and five counts of stealing.
