Renowned Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang, has emphasized the importance of young people in the creative industry understanding the intricacies of their profession. In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, he highlighted that many individuals, particularly young creatives, tend to overlook the business side of showbiz.

Adjetey Anang pointed out that the solution to this issue lies in dedicating time to learn and acquire the necessary knowledge. By grasping the business aspects of the entertainment industry, young talents can better navigate their careers and make informed decisions, leading to greater success in their chosen field.

“One of the ways through which we can is if our younger generation gets to stay in the process. Because before you can make business out of something you have to be baked. You can’t be in a certain craft and not be baked,” he said.

“People come to my dms and say they are passionate about acting, I should give them a chance and they will prove it. Sometimes I just take a stroll to their social media handles and all I see is selfies of their food and designer wears,” Adjetey Anang added.

Adjetey Anang expressed his belief that those who claim to be passionate about their work in the creative industry should actively showcase their endeavors on social media platforms. He observed that many young people are not effectively utilizing these platforms to promote their talents and projects.

In his newly released book titled ‘Adjetey Anang: Faith, imperfections, and resilience,’ he addresses the lack of business-mindedness in Ghana’s entertainment industry. Adjetey Anang pointed out that often, individuals in the industry focus solely on gaining money and fame without investing in continuous education, improving their craft, or exploring innovative approaches to filmmaking.

To bring about positive change and growth in the arts, he encourages those involved to educate themselves in various business and marketing fields. By combining their artistic talents with a keen understanding of business strategies, the industry can thrive and reach new heights. Adjetey Anang’s hope is that this collective effort will lead to a more prosperous and sustainable future for Ghana’s entertainment sector.
