The aftermath of the untimely passing of former Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah led to the leader of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, sharing insights on the alleged poisoning and condemned the use of violence for political gain.
During a Sunday sermon, Prophet Oduro emphasized that power should not be sought through brutal acts like killing, asserting that leaders are appointed by God.
Expressing concern about the political landscape, he questioned the wisdom of resorting to such extreme measures for power, reminding his congregation that the outcome of elections is ultimately in God’s hands.
“A nation that is 67 years is ready to poison people to death. What are they looking for? Power. How sure are you about that power. Who said NPP will win the next election? It is God who makes leaders.
“You are already killing people’s fathers and their husbands? Look at the pain you have caused this young lady pastor. The wife of the MP is a woman of God. You went to touch the anointed of the Lord when the Bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm,” Prophet Oduro stated.
The prophet drew attention to the broader repercussions of political violence in Ghana, citing economic difficulties and developmental setbacks as consequences of past incidents, including the deaths of politicians such as J.B. Danquah Adu and J.B. Danquah senior.
Prophet Oduro also empathised with the family of the deceased, highlighting the pain inflicted on the wife, who he described as a woman of God.
He urged unity and an end to the cycle of violence that has plagued the nation’s political landscape.
Meanwhile, the late John Kumah’s wife, Lilian Kumah, has vehemently denied rumours of poisoning.
In an interview with Asaase radio, she expressed frustration with baseless claims and called for accountability, particularly in response to statements made by Captain Smart alleging foul play in her husband’s death.
“Why is it that someone has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has serviced his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.
“If it is true that a person who is not dead but alive claims that he knows how my husband (John Kumah) died and that he was poisoned, and that person is still moving around for the past three weeks, it hurts me, it saddens me and I do not know how best to express my frustrations about these false claims by Captain Smart,” she told Accra-based Asaase radio in an interview.”
John Kumah, who served his country for many years, passed away at the age of 45 on Thursday, March 7, leaving behind a grieving wife and six children.
