West Ham midfielder George Earthy has been released from the hospital following a head injury sustained during his Premier League debut against Fulham.

West Ham confirmed on Monday morning that Earthy, who was substituted and taken to a local London hospital, has been discharged.

He will now undergo monitoring as per concussion guidelines before returning to action.

Earthy, brought on by Hammers boss David Moyes in the 82nd minute of Sunday’s home defeat to Fulham, collided with teammate Edson Alvarez shortly after his introduction.

He lost consciousness after hitting his head on the ground.

Extensive on-pitch treatment, including oxygen, was administered before Earthy was stretchered off, causing concern among spectators at the London Stadium.

In a club statement, West Ham said: “Earthy will now follow FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return to play. West Ham United wishes to place on record its thanks to our own medical team, as well as their counterparts at Fulham and Medics24, our pitchside rescue team, for the immediate response to yesterday’s incident.

The club also extends its thanks for the many messages of support sent to George. Everyone at West Ham United wishes George a safe and speedy recovery.”

Earthy’s health and well-being take precedence as he recuperates from the serious head injury. Once he receives clearance to resume playing, the young midfielder aims to continue gaining valuable first-team experience.

Previously, he made a brief appearance in a Europa League clash against Freiburg last month and has been a consistent presence in the Premier League matchday squad since February.

While he is unlikely to be ready for selection against Bayer Leverkusen this Thursday, West Ham has upcoming matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Chelsea in the next three weeks.
