A video shared by Joy News on Twitter captures the tense moment when Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) personnel re-arrested Shalimar Abbiusi, the spokesperson for the New Force.
The footage shows GIS officials pushing her into a service vehicle, while her legal team, led by Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, attempts to intervene.
Chaos ensues in the video, with reported parents of Abbiusi seen crying and trying to prevent the arrest. The visibly upset lawyer Francis Xavier-Sosu, attempting to resist being pushed, confronts a GIS official physically.
According to a Joy News report, the Ghana Immigration Service has revoked Abuissi’s residency permit, leading to her scheduled deportation later in the day.
The grounds for the revocation allege that she obtained a student residency permit through false declaration.
Notably, earlier on the same day, all charges against Abbiusi were dropped by the state prosecutor. The court also directed the National Investigations Bureau to release her seized iPhone 13 Pro, as no incriminating evidence was found during a thorough check.
The recent legal battles of Ms. Abbiusi, as highlighted in the New Force’s December 7 press release, raise concerns about power abuse, persecution of perceived political opponents, and multiple human rights violations.
The unfolding events and confrontations underscore the intensity of the situation surrounding the New Force spokesperson’s legal troubles.
