I’ve had the calling to be a pastor since childhood – Victoria Lebene

Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Victoria Lebene recently revealed that her journey to becoming a pastor has been a long time coming, with the call to ministry being present since her childhood.

During an interview with Joy Prime TV on August 16, 2024, she reflected on how, as a child, pastors often told her mother that she was destined to become an “Osofo Maame” (pastor’s wife).

At the time, Lebene assumed this meant she would one day marry a pastor, not realizing that she herself would take on a significant role in the ministry.

Lebene’s transition into preaching surprised many when, on April 22, 2024, she began sharing biblical teachings and heartfelt messages during an Instagram live session.

She has since made it clear that her ministry is not for social media attention but stems from a genuine calling she has felt deeply for years.

“Yes, I knew. I had that call for a very long time. When I was very little, pastors would tell my mom, ‘This child will be Osofo Maame’ and I actually thought I was going to marry a pastor to be that kind. Never did I know that it would toll towards that line where I would particularly be in the middle of the whole picture as a woman of God,” she said.

But speaking with Showbiz Graphic, Lebene vehemently asserted her dedication to serving and ministering was not for clout or social media attention, but a genuine calling she had been nurturing for some time.

She emphasised the authenticity of her calling, adding that while the calling has been present for a long time, she needed to accept it and give herself the necessary time and space to execute it properly.

“My calling is real and not for social media engagement or clout. Yes, it has been there, but you know, I’ve been involved in a lot of things and so I needed to give myself the pace and time to execute that role, so that I will not end up putting too much pressure on myself.”

At 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, actress and entrepreneur Victoria Lebene surprised her followers by assuming the role of a preacher during her Instagram live session titled The Word.

Transitioning seamlessly into her new role, she commenced the session with a heartfelt song before sharing biblical verses from the Book of Isaiah, aligning with her chosen theme, “Accelerating God’s Speed in Life.”

This wasn’t a scripted scene from a movie; instead, it marked a significant moment where the actress affirmed her commitment to serving and dedicating herself to ministry, spreading the word of God and leading souls to the kingdom.

Since then, Lebene, now a ‘minister of the gospel,’ has attracted attention, as anticipated. While some applaud her for embracing her calling, others view it as a mere attempt to garner social media engagement and attention.

In an interview with Showbiz Graphic, Lebene firmly asserted that her dedication to serving and ministering was not driven by a desire for clout or social media attention but by a genuine calling she had been nurturing for some time.

She stressed the authenticity of her calling, stating that although it had been present for a long time, she needed to acknowledge it and allocate the necessary time and space to execute it properly.

“My calling is real and not for social media engagement or clout. Yes, it has been there, but you know, I’ve been involved in a lot of things and so I needed to give myself the pace and time to execute that role, so that I will not end up putting too much pressure on myself.”

“The call comes very strong, and you need to heed it, or else you don’t know the next thing that may happen to you. Life is too short. A moment, you’re here and the next, you’re gone. And I guess you would be disappointed if you do not fulfil your purpose on earth,” she said.

  • “I have nothing against Yvonne Nelson’s book”- Victoria Lebene

“I have nothing against Yvonne Nelson’s book”- Victoria Lebene

Ghanaian actress Victoria Lebene has reaffirmed her position on the remarks she made concerning fellow actress Yvonne Nelson.

It will be recalled that back in June, Yvonne Nelson unveiled a candid autobiography in which she shared significant moments from her life, including her quest to find her biological father, her pregnancy with rapper Sarkodie, and the subsequent abortion.

Victoria Lebene, on the other hand, criticized Yvonne Nelson for her memoir. She suggested that Yvonne was presenting herself as a saint by divulging personal secrets in her book, underscoring that everyone has their own stories and experiences with others but doesn’t always choose to disclose those details publicly.

In a sit-down interview with media personality Abeiku Santana on UTV’s ATUU programme, Victoria Lebene insisted that her comments shouldn’t have been taken personally, as she was just sharing her “harmless” opinion and didn’t deserve to be blamed.

She added that she had tried to make peace with Yvonne Nelson on multiple occasions but was ignored.

“That message I wrote wasn’t targeted at her. It was just an opinion. When the book came out, everybody had something to say. She’s my older sister and I know her. We’ve had a few encounters where she’s not happy and all that. I’ve even tried to appeal to her to let it go. I even tried to get in touch but she didn’t open up.

“So if everyone talks, am I not allowed to speak too? I just shared my opinion. I still stand by what was said. It’s harmless, at least for me. Maybe it wouldn’t sit well with others.

“I have nothing against all that she wrote; that is her business. But what I’m saying is that I shared my opinion, just as everybody shared theirs. I also speak out.

“I do advocacy, so when I feel the need to share my opinions, I don’t think that I should be castigated for that,” she stated.

  • ‘I do not hate Yvonne’ – Victoria Lebene after trashing her memoir

‘I do not hate Yvonne’ – Victoria Lebene after trashing her memoir

Since the recent release of Yvonne Nelson‘s autobiography titled ‘I am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ actress and entrepreneur Victoria Lebene has engaged in a series of criticisms directed at Yvonne Nelson.

Victoria openly chastised Yvonne for certain chapters in the book that delves into her previous relationships and sexual experiences, deeming it sensitive information that should not have been made public.

Lebene’s remarks have fueled speculation that she harboured a long-held grudge against Yvonne and was using the book’s contents to launch personal attacks.

However, in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Lebene clarified that she holds no animosity towards Nelson but believes that her colleague should have exercised more caution when discussing such delicate subjects in her book.

The mother of two argued that it was highly inappropriate and insensitive for Yvonne to disclose such intimate details to the public, particularly considering the potential damage it could inflict on the reputation of those involved and the negative impact it could have on their families.

Lebene stated, “I do not hate Yvonne, not at all. I just feel she went overboard with some of the intimate details she shared. I am not saying Yvonne shouldn’t express her feelings, but she should have been more sensitive in her approach.”

She further expressed that it would have been more appropriate for Yvonne to tone down certain admissions made in the book without divulging explicit details.

Victoria emphasized the importance of considering the healing process for all parties involved, as what may be cathartic for one person could potentially cause pain and require healing for others.

Referring to one of the individuals mentioned in the book, Sarkodie, she highlighted the significance of considering a person’s reputation, particularly in the case of a married man with children.

She acknowledged that not everyone possesses the emotional strength to handle such revelations, further emphasizing the potential consequences on spouses and children.

Lebene clarified her stance by stating, “I don’t believe in the past. I only believe that whatever happened then should be able to make me strong and put me on the right path to becoming a better version of myself. If I were to write a book, it would be one that empowers and advises people.

“I don’t think I would want to give a memoir detailing my sexual experiences or the number of times I have had an abortion. It simply doesn’t make sense. However, this doesn’t mean I hate Yvonne; it’s just my opinion. It’s okay if it’s a strategy to sell the book, but we should always consider the sensitivity of our words and actions.”
