President of Ukraine replaces high-ranking security official in most recent shuffle

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has changed one of the top security officials with the head of the foreign spy agency. This is happening while Russian forces are attacking Ukraine.

Zelenskyy fired Oleksii Danilov from his job as the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, and thanked him for his work in a video on Tuesday night. He didn’t explain why he made changes and said that Danilov will be given a different job without saying where.

Zelenskyy put Oleksandr Lytvynenko in charge instead of Danilov. Lytvynenko used to lead Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service.

The National Security Council is a group of important officials that work together to make plans, and Zelenskyy leads the group. Danilov has been in his job since October 2019, just a few months after Zelenskyy became president.

Danilov was fired as Ukrainian soldiers are tired and don’t have enough people or weapons. They are also facing more pressure from Russia along a long front line.

The reshuffle happened because in February, Zelenskyy decided to fire the top military officer in Ukraine, Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi is being replaced by Colonel. General. Oleksandr Syrskyi.

  • St. John’s Ukrainian children seeking shelter given special class

St. John’s Ukrainian children seeking shelter given special class

Around 50 kids came together at a St. John will go to a special class on Saturday to learn about the Ukrainian language, culture, and history for the first time.

The weekend program, called Ridna Shkola, is the first one in Newfoundland and Labrador, but there are many other classes like it in the country.

Liubov Hrysiuk, who teaches one of the program’s three age groups, says, “It makes us feel like we belong to this community. ”

“We can chat, we can enjoy our holidays together. ” Perhaps we can assist each other.

Hrysiuk, who used to teach in Ukraine, felt happy and nostalgic during the Saturday classes.

“It felt like I was back in my past, and I was in Ukraine with the best students ever,” she said.

In 2023, she came to Newfoundland and Labrador from Ukraine, like many others who have moved to St. John’sJohn has been sad since his country was taken over by Russia in 2022.

The government of Newfoundland and Labrador tried very hard to encourage Ukrainians who were thinking about leaving their country to come to their province.

Employees at the immigration office in the province set up a desk in Poland to reach out to people looking for asylum. The province also arranged four flights to bring Ukrainians to the country in 2022.

Approximately 700 people moved to Newfoundland and Labrador during those flights. Sofia Dubyk, who works for the Ukranian National Federation in the province, thinks there are now about 3,500 Ukranian people living here.

She and her friends worked to plan the Saturday classes and put them together after a few weeks of organizing.

“Two years ago, we weren’t prepared to move to a different country and start over,” she said. She also mentioned that people from Ukraine, like her, received a lot of help from local officials and people from Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Now I believe many Ukrainians here have a job, a place to live, and we can start helping the local community. ”

The program will help Ukrainian children, even some who are only five years old, to learn more about Ukrainian culture. Dubyk wants to start a pre-school program in the future.

Ridna Shkolas in different parts of the country have been important for connecting Canadians with Ukrainian background and new Canadian residents escaping the war in Ukraine.

Olena Shyian helped start a program in Regina in 2009 to bring back a class that had stopped in the 1970s.

Recently, it has been a place where her kids can learn from Ukrainian kids, and the other way around.

“They both are gaining,” she said. “The children born here, or whose parents or grandparents were born here, are learning Ukrainian, making friends, fitting in, and talking to each other. ”

Stcan be rewritten as “Saint”. John Hrysiuk is teaching his students about Canadian symbols with Ukrainian backgrounds.

“You know a lot of talented and famous people,” she said. “Take Wayne Gretzky, for instance. “

  • Russia continues to bombard Ukraine in attempt to weaken Ukraine’s air defense

Russia continues to bombard Ukraine in attempt to weaken Ukraine’s air defense

Russia shot drones and missiles at southern and eastern parts of Ukraine overnight. This hurt more than a dozen people. The attacks are meant to weaken Ukraine’s defences.

Ukraine’s air force stopped 26 out of 28 Shahed drones using air defence systems. Russian troops fired five missiles last night, it was reported.

The Kremlin’s forces have been attacking Ukraine a lot more lately, with missile attacks on the capital city Kyiv and energy facilities across the country. The attacks are also meant to make Ukrainian people feel less confident and to punish them for attacking Russia.

Russia wants to weaken Ukraine’s air defense, according to a report by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

This would weaken Ukraine’s ability to fight because it is waiting for promised but late military support from the West, including ammunition for its artillery and air defenses.

“Kyiv is facing a problem. If there is a long and drawn-out war in the air, Russia will have an advantage without enough help from the US and its friends,” according to IISS. “Ukraine’s ability to keep Russian planes away and make it hard for the Russian Air forces is very important for the war. “

Ukraine is waiting for its Western friends to give them F-16 fighter jets. This will help Ukraine put pressure on Russia. Ukrainian pilots have been learning how to fly warplanes in the West for several months.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that if Ukraine’s Western allies provide air bases for F-16s to launch attacks against Russia, those bases will be a legitimate target. F-16s need strong runways and hangars to protect them while they are on the ground.

The arrival of many F-16s won’t make a big difference in the military situation, but Ukrainian officials are happy to have them to fight against Russia’s strong air force.

Putin said that the F-16s will not make a difference in the fighting.

“We will destroy their planes just like we destroy their tanks, vehicles and other equipment,” Putin said to pilots during a visit to an air base.

However, Putin said that Russia does not want to start a war with NATO. He said it was “completely ridiculous” to think that Russia would attack a country that is part of NATO after the war in Ukraine.

Officials in Mykolaiv region, near the Black Sea in southern Ukraine, said 12 people were hurt and six homes were damaged in a Russian attack on the city on Wednesday afternoon with a ballistic missile.

During the night, in southern Ukraine, there was an attack in Zaporizhzhia. Shahed drones hit a neighborhood where people live. Two women, aged 72 and 74, were slightly hurt. The regional Governor gave this information.

  • Ukraine increases its expenditure on domestic weapons to counter Russia

Ukraine increases its expenditure on domestic weapons to counter Russia

The Ukrainian government plans to spend a lot more money, around US$1. 4 billion, in 2024 to buy and make weapons in their own country. This is much more than the amount they spent before Russia invaded.

Also, many weapons are now being purchased from private companies instead of government-owned factories. They are growing all over the country and quickly becoming the main players in an industry that used to be controlled by government-owned companies.

Ukraine needs all the help it can get to push Russia away from its land. A good thing that is happening is the small but quickly growing defense industry. The government is giving lots of money to this industry because they hope that making more weapons and ammunition in our own country will help us in the fight.

Over the last year, the US and Europe have been working really hard to send weapons and help to Ukraine. This is because Ukraine is dealing with a strong Russian military and has a strong defense industry of its own.

A factory that makes mortar shells and is owned by individuals started in western Ukraine last year. It makes about 20,000 shells every month.

“I think we are getting closer to winning for our country,” said Anatolli Kuzmin, the 64-year-old owner of the factory. He used to make farm equipment and left his home in southern Ukraine when Russia invaded in 2022.

However, the defense sector in Ukraine has been limited by a lack of money and staff, as well as excessive government bureaucracy, like many other parts of the country’s military system. A stronger business industry could help get rid of problems and make factories produce weapons and ammo even faster.

    The situation is very important.

Russia has taken control of a big part of Ukraine and is moving forward along a long front line by using many troops to make small advances. Ukrainian soldiers often face more enemy soldiers and better weapons, and this has made them feel less motivated.

“We need a mortar right away, not in three years, preferably yesterday,” said Taras Chmut, the director of the Come Back Alive Foundation. They have raised over $260 million in the last ten years to give Ukrainian troops weapons and vehicles.

    Business people during war times

Kuzmin, who owns a factory that makes parts for farm equipment, left the city of Melitopol in the south when Russia took over his factory in 2022. He started making a model of mortar shells right after Russia took over Ukraine in 2014 and annexed Crimea.

Kuzmin took control of a large warehouse in western Ukraine last winter. He wants to make 100,000 shells every month and make engines and explosives for drones.

He is one of the entrepreneurs changing Ukraine’s weapons industry, which was controlled by government-owned companies after the Soviet Union broke up. Today, most of the defence industry is owned by private companies, which is very different from how it was a year ago, and is the opposite of Russia’s defence industry, which is controlled by the government.

Every new projectile is put in craft paper and packed in wooden boxes. Then it is sent to Romania or Bulgaria where explosives are put inside. A few weeks later, they are sent back and sent to the front.

Kuzmin wants to build a factory to make explosives and is looking for a partner to help.

Challenges that stop something from getting bigger.

Ukraine is spending more on its military, but they are not getting the $60 billion in aid from the US and European countries are having trouble giving them enough ammunition.

Ukraine’s defense sector has improved a lot, but they can’t beat Russia without a lot of help from Western countries. This is according to Trevor Taylor, a research fellow at a think tank in London.

“Ukraine cannot make all the weapons it needs for this battle,” Taylor explained. “The delay of $60 billion of American aid is causing a big problem. ”

Russia is spending more money on its military industry, which has helped protect its economy from the worst effects of Western sanctions. The defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, recently said that they have made a lot more tanks, drones and ammunition for the country’s military.

“The whole country is standing up and working to win,” he said.

Ukraine made a lot more mortar shells and artillery ammunition this year compared to last year. This was said by Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukraine’s minister of strategic industries. There are many new drone companies starting up, and the government is spending about $1 billion on the technology, in addition to its defense budget.

“We used to make in a year what we now make in a month,” said Vladislav Belbas, the boss of Ukrainian Armour, which makes lots of military vehicles.

The 28th brigade of the Ukrainian army is fighting near Bakhmut. They have not had any problems with getting weapons from other countries because they can make their own. Major Artem Kholodkevych said that they can cover their weapon needs with what they can make in Ukraine.

However, weapon factories in our country have many problems. These include making sure they have the right weapons for soldiers and being at risk of being attacked by missiles from Russia.

However, the biggest problem right now is not having enough workers.

Yaroslav Dzera, who runs a factory for Ukrainian Armour, has a hard time finding and keeping good workers. Many of them have been sent to fight, which makes it even harder.

Dealing with administrative obstacles or bureaucracy.

Weapons companies say that bureaucracy is making it difficult for them to grow.

The government is trying to work better since the war started. They are also making it clear how they choose companies to work with. However, government representatives say that the country still has a lot of progress to make.

Right before President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took over, Ukraine’s former top general, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, wrote an essay for CNN. He said Ukraine’s defense sector was held back by too many rules and not enough competition.

Despite facing difficulties, Ukraine’s drone industry has been a success story. Sea drones made in Ukraine are a good weapon against the Russian ships in the Black Sea.

There are about 200 companies in Ukraine that are now making drones, and they are making a lot more drones than before. In December, they made 50 times more deliveries than they did a year ago, according to Mykhailo Fedorov, who is Ukraine’s minister of digital transformation.

Russia’s war in Ukraine is not just about who has better drones or missiles, said Serhii Pashynskyi, who is in charge of the National Association of Ukrainian Defence Industries trade group.

“We are only competing with Russia in terms of people and money for the war,” he said. “If we learn to use these two simple things, we will succeed. ” If we don’t, it will be a big issue.

  • Vintage fur coats from Barnsley donated and sent to war-torn Ukraine

Vintage fur coats from Barnsley donated and sent to war-torn Ukraine

Unwanted fur coats have been sent to Ukraine to help people stay warm during the winter, instead of being destroyed.

Vintage clothing seller Glass Onion, based in Barnsley, is working with a charity to send coats to people who need them instead of throwing them away.

“The coats are no longer in style, but they are being used to help people,” explained Alice Leadbetter from the company. The fur coats were very helpful, said Rev Bernard Cocker, who started the International Aid Trust charity.

Over 600 coats were sent to places near Kyiv and given to people and refugees in the Donbas region.

Ms Leadbetter talked to the BBC and said, “We found out about International Aid Trust from Peta. They needed donations to help people hurt by the war in Ukraine. ”

“We can’t take back the mean things done to make these coats, but we can recycle them to help the people who need them the most. ”

Mr Cocker has been working in Ukraine since 1991. He said he met many people who lost everything, not even having a knife or fork.

“When it gets really cold in winter, like -30C (-22F), and people don’t have warm clothes or wood for fires, these fur coats help them stay alive,” he said.

“What was going to be ruined is now helping to keep people alive. It’s as simple as that. ”

He said that when the coats are given to people, their eyes sparkle with happiness.

“He said people are starting to like the coats that were on the animals’ backs. ”

“It’s a lot better than breaking them. “

  • Russia attacks Ukraine’s electricity industry broadly

Russia attacks Ukraine’s electricity industry broadly

Russia launched a big attack on Ukraine’s electric system on Friday. According to Russia, it was in response to recent attacks on them. This could make the war between the two countries worse, especially after Vladimir Putin was re-elected as president.

A lot of people in Ukraine lost power in a few cities. At least five people died and the biggest hydroelectric plant in the country was damaged. This caused the nuclear plant, which has been dangerous during the war, to lose power for a short time.

Russia launched over 60 exploding drones and 90 missiles in a very harsh attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to Ukrainian officials. This is the most brutal attack since the war started in 2022.

Kharkiv, the second-biggest city in Ukraine, suffered the most damage, officials said. The attack happened a day after Russia shot 31 missiles into the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been asking Western countries for more air defense systems and weapons. He has been asking for this for several weeks and during this time, the U.S has given $60 billion. Congress cannot agree on aid, so it is delayed.

“Russian missiles come quickly, unlike aid to our state,” Zelenskyy said. It’s crucial to know how much it costs when things are delayed or decisions are put off.

Russia’s military said that the attacks on Friday were a form of revenge. Ukraine has been firing more shells into Russia’s Belgorod region near its northeastern border. They have also been using drones to attack Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities.

Ukraine attacked Russia on Friday and killed one person and injured at least three, local officials said.

Putin said that Ukraine is trying to scare people and disrupt the election that just ended on Sunday. And he promised to retaliate.

The day after he said he won, Putin said that Russia wants to make a safe area inside eastern Ukraine to guard against faraway attacks and raids from across the border.

Russia has done better in fighting than Ukraine in the last few months. Ukrainian soldiers are tired and don’t have enough people and weapons. The battle line is over 1,000 kilometres long.

When Putin invaded in 2022, he called it a “special military operation,” and his officials mostly avoided saying “war. ” But on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a Russian newspaper that when the West joined Ukraine in the fighting, it became a war for Russia.

During the winter of 2022-23, Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy system, which led to many power outages in the country. Many people in Ukraine and the West thought that Russia might use the same strategy again this winter, but instead Russia attacked Ukraine’s defense industries.

Russia has used advanced missiles and cheap drones from Iran to overwhelm and weaken Ukraine’s air defenses during the strikes.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, leader of Ukrenergo (the national utility company), said that Friday’s attack was the biggest on Ukraine’s energy system since the war started.

“This attack was very dangerous because the enemy used different types of weapons, like kamikaze drones, ballistic and cruise missiles,” he said.

Kudrytskyi claims that Russia tried to destroy important power plants in Kharkiv, which left at least 700,000 people without electricity. He thinks that there are many customers in other areas who also don’t have power, maybe hundreds of thousands.

Oleksiy Kuleba, who works with Zelenskyy, said that 31 people got hurt in the attacks. Also, 200,000 people in Odesa don’t have electricity all the time now. He said that electricity was restored for most of the 400,000 customers in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The big Dnipro hydroelectric power plant, which is the biggest in Ukraine, stopped working because it was hit by at least six missiles and got badly damaged. Ihor Syrota, the leader of Ukrhidroenergo company which manages the country’s hydroelectric plants, said they lost about one third of their power production. This is a big problem for the Ukrainian energy system.

Syrota said it’s hard to know how much the plant was damaged because the equipment is buried under concrete and metal debris from the explosions. He also said it will take a long time to fix everything.

The strikes caused a fire at the Dnipro plant, which provides electricity to the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia. This power plant is the biggest one in Europe. The nuclear plant lost its power for a few hours before it was fixed, according to Rafael Grossi, who is in charge of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He said this on Friday. The Zaporizhzhia plant in Ukraine has been taken over by Russian soldiers since the invasion started, and there is a chance that fighting nearby could cause a nuclear disaster.

The dam at the hydroelectric station is not at risk of breaking, according to the country’s hydroelectric authority. A dam breaking could stop the nuclear plant from getting what it needs and could cause big floods like what happened last year when a dam on the Dnieper River collapsed.

  • Gunmen who broke into Moscow theatre tried to escape to Ukraine – Putin

Gunmen who broke into Moscow theatre tried to escape to Ukraine – Putin

People attending a concert in suburban Moscow were targeted by gunmen. The building was destroyed by fire and there were more than 130 people dead. Russian authorities have arrested four suspects. President Putin said that they were caught while trying to leave and go to Ukraine.

Kyiv said it wasn’t involved in the attack on the music venue in Krasnogorsk, and a group from Afghanistan’s Islamic State claimed they did it.

Putin did not talk about IS in his speech, and Kyiv said he and other Russian politicians are lying about Ukraine being involved in the attack to make people more excited about Russia’s war in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years.

US officials who gather information confirmed the IS affiliate’s claim that it was responsible for the attack, a US official told The Associated Press. American spies found out that the IS group was planning to attack Moscow. They told the Russian government about it a few weeks ago. The official was told about the issue but wasn’t allowed to talk about the secret information publicly. They spoke to the AP anonymously.

Putin said that 11 people were arrested for the attack. More than 100 people at the concert were hurt and the venue in Moscow was left destroyed. He said it was a terrible and violent attack by terrorists. The Russian authorities caught four suspected gunmen as they were trying to escape to Ukraine through a prepared route on the border.

Russian news showed videos of people being arrested and questioned. One person said he was paid by someone he didn’t know to take part in the attack.

The Russian news said the shooters were from Tajikistan, a country in Central Asia that used to be part of the Soviet Union. It is mostly Muslim and next to Afghanistan. Around 15 million people from Tajikistan have worked in Russia and some of them are now Russian citizens.

Tajikistan’s foreign ministry said it didn’t know about other Tajiks involved in the raid. They didn’t respond to a request for comment about the arrests on Saturday.

Many Russian people who strongly disagree with Tajik immigrants wanted the government to take strong action against them. But Putin said no, and he believes that no one will be able to create problems or divisions in our diverse society using force.

He said that Sunday will be a day of sadness and that more security rules were made in all of Russia.

The attack was the deadliest in Russia in a long time. It’s a big problem for the Russian leader and happened just a few days after he secured his position in power for another six years. This came after a harsh crackdown on people who disagreed with the government, which was the strictest since the time of the Soviet Union.

133 people died in the attack, making it the worst in Russia in a long time.

The raid was a big problem for the Russian leader and it happened soon after he got more power in the country for six more years. He had cracked down on people who disagreed with him before the vote.

Some people on Russian social media were wondering how the government, which has been cracking down on any opposition and controlling the media, did not stop the attack even though they knew about it. Be careful, be safe, take caution.

The attack happened two weeks after the United States. The US Embassy in Moscow warned Americans to stay away from busy places because extremists are planning to attack large gatherings like concerts. Many other embassies from Western countries also gave the same warning. Earlier this week, Putin criticized the warning as an attempt to scare Russians.

On Saturday, investigators searched through the burned remains of the hall to find more victims. Officials said the number of people who died may increase.

Putin said the attackers tried to escape to Ukraine. Russian lawmakers also blamed Ukraine right after the attack.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, strongly disagreed with Moscow’s accusations. He said that Putin and his team are trying to blame Ukraine for their actions and are not taking care of their own people.

“They are setting fire to our cities and trying to blame Ukraine,” he said in a message on his app. “They hurt and sexually assault our people, and then they say it’s their fault. ” They brought a lot of their fighters here to Ukraine to fight us, and they don’t care what happens in their own country.

Pictures from Russian state media showed that there were still ambulances and fire trucks outside the destroyed Crocus City Hall. The building was able to hold more than 6,000 people and it hosted many important events, such as the 2013 Miss Universe beauty pageant with Donald Trump.

On Friday, many people went to a place to see a concert by the Russian rock band Picnic.

Videos on the internet showed people with guns shooting at close range at the place, and hurting innocent people. Russian news said that the attackers threw bombs that caused a fire in the building. The fire became big and destroyed the building’s roof.

Dave Primov, who was able to stay safe during the attack, told the AP that the gunmen were shooting at the people in the front rows without aiming. He said the hall was a mess because people at the concert started to panic, run, and bump into each other as they tried to get out. Some people fell and others walked over them.

After he and others crawled out of the hall and into nearby rooms, he heard small explosives going off and smelled something burning as the attackers set the building on fire.

IS has been trying to harm Russia for a long time, especially after Russia’s military attack in Syria. IS’s Afghanistan branch said it attacked a big group of “Christians” in Krasnogorsk, in a statement on their Aamaq news agency.

On Saturday, the group said on Aamaq that four men attacked using guns, a pistol, knives, and firebombs. The attackers shot at the crowd and used knives to kill people at the concert. They did this because they believe Islam is being fought against by other countries.

In October 2015, a bomb made by IS caused a Russian plane to crash in Sinai, and all 224 people on board died. Most of them were Russian tourists coming back from Egypt.

The group mostly works in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa. They have also said they did several attacks in Russia’s volatile Caucasus and other areas in recent years. It got soldiers from Russia and other places that used to be part of the Soviet Union.

The Afghanistan branch of the group is called ISIS-K or IS-K. It got its name from Khorasan Province, a place that was big in the past and covered parts of Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia.

The affiliate has lots of fighters who have done many attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over in 2021. They are enemies with the Taliban.

ISIS-K did the suicide bombing at Kabul airport in August 2021. It killed 13 American troops and about 170 Afghans during the US withdrawal. They also admitted to causing a bomb attack in Kerman, Iran, in January. The attack killed 95 people at a memorial procession.

On March 7, the US Embassy warned about possible attacks, and Russia’s top security agency said they stopped an attack on a synagogue in Moscow and killed some members of a group linked to IS near the Russian capital. A few days ago, the Russian government said that six people believed to be members of the IS group were shot and killed in a fight in Ingushetia, a region in Russia.

  • Russia and Ukraine exchange several prisoners of war despite differences over plane disaster

Russia and Ukraine exchange several prisoners of war despite differences over plane disaster

Russia and Ukraine have traded about 200 prisoners of war. This happened on Wednesday, even though there are tensions because of a recent military plane crash. Russia said the plane was carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war and was shot down by Ukraine’s forces.

After January24 planes crashed in Russia’s Belgorod region near Ukraine. Some Russian officials were talking openly about swapping prisoners of war in the future.

Russia’s military said that both countries gave back 195 prisoners of war to each other. After the announcement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 207 Ukrainians were set free. The reason for the different numbers was not explained right away.

We keep in mind every Ukrainian who is being held captive. Both soldiers and regular people. We need to bring all of them back. We are trying to solve it,” Zelenskyy said on X, which used to be called Twitter.

Dmytro Lubinets, the person in charge of making sure people’s rights are protected in Ukraine, said on social media that 50 prisoner exchanges have happened since Russia’s big invasion almost two years ago, and a total of 3,035 prisoners of war have gone back to their countries.

Andrii Yermak, who works for Ukraine’s President, said that some Ukrainian soldiers and police officers were set free. He said that some of them were caught while protecting Mariupol, Azovstal, and Snake Island.

The Russian military said that the Russian prisoners of war were in danger while being held captive. They will be flown to Moscow for treatment and help to recover. But they did not give any details or evidence.

Moscow had reported that 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war were on the military plane that crashed in January. The text is missing, please provide the content that needs to be simplified. Ukrainian leaders said they were supposed to exchange prisoners that day, but it didn’t happen. They also said they didn’t have any proof that the plane was carrying prisoners of war.

President Vladimir Putin met with his campaign team in Moscow to prepare for his reelection. He said that Russian investigators found that Ukraine used air defense systems from the US to shoot down a transport plane. Ukrainian officials did not say no to the plane being shot down, but they also did not admit to it and asked for a worldwide investigation.

Putin said Russia wants an official investigation to happen and will demand it, into what he called a wrongdoing by Ukraine.

  • NATO military officer advises leaders and partners to prepare for unexpected in Ukraine

NATO military officer advises leaders and partners to prepare for unexpected in Ukraine

Ukraine is in a big fight to stay alive in their war with Russia. NATO says that Western armies and leaders need to change how they help Ukraine defend against invading forces.

During a meeting of the 31 countries in NATO, the leader of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that President Vladimir Putin is afraid of democracy and that’s why he started a war.

According to report, in a two-day upcoming meeting in Brussels, NATO’s top leaders will discuss plans for the largest military exercises in Europe since the Cold War. These exercises are scheduled to take place later this year. NATO’s wargames show how strong they are and that they will protect their allies from any attack.

As the war gets stuck and funding for Ukraine’s economy is delayed because of political fighting, Bauer asked for everyone to work together to solve the problem, not just the military.

“We need everyone to change how they think from planning and controlling everything to being ready for anything at any time. ” “Get ready for anything,” he said as he started the meeting.

Bauer said that NATO needs to change how it fights wars in order to be better in the future.

On Monday, the UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said that the government will send 20,000 soldiers to join NATO military exercises called “Steadfast Defender. ” Many of them will go to eastern Europe from February to June.

The UK will send fast fighter jets and planes that can watch and spy on things, along with big boats that fight in wars and submarines.

Allies are sending military supplies to Ukraine, which is causing a shortage of ammunition. The Norwegian government is giving 2 billion kroner to make more ammunition because there is a high demand for it.

Norway’s Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said that it’s important to make the defense industry stronger to help Ukraine and protect our own safety.

Half of the money will be given to a company called Nammo, which is in Norway and makes stuff for the military like bullets and rockets. The Prime Minister wants them to make more bullets.

In Brussels, Bauer said NATO will keep helping Ukraine for a long time.

“Today marks the 693rd day of a war that Russia thought would only last three days. ” “We will continue to support Ukraine every day because the result of this war will affect the whole world,” he said.

Bauer added that the war is not about Russia being threatened by Ukraine or NATO. This war is about Russia being afraid of something much stronger than any weapon — democracy. If people in Ukraine can have freedom to choose their leaders, then people in Russia will want the same.

  • Putin promises to avenge Ukraine over attacks during Russia’s presidential election

Putin promises to avenge Ukraine over attacks during Russia’s presidential election

Vladimir Putin has promised to punish Ukraine for trying to ruin Russia’s election by attacking Russian land and sending 2,500 soldiers to cross into Russia.

On the first day of the election, there were problems like dye being poured into ballot boxes, a Molotov cocktail thrown at a polling station in Putin’s hometown, and cyber attacks.

Millions of people in Russia voted in an election that will probably give Putin six more years as president. The voting took place in 11 different time zones over three days.

The Ukraine war had an impact on the election. Putin said that Russia’s western regions were being attacked and some people from Ukraine tried to enter Russian territory in two different regions.

Putin said that the attacks from our enemies will not go without punishment. He was very angry when he said this at a meeting with important military and government officials.

Putin said that armed groups from Ukraine attacked the Belgorod region four times and the Kursk region one time. There were about 2,500 attackers. He said they had 35 big war machines and 40 heavily protected vehicles, and that 60 out of every 100 soldiers were killed.

Ukrainian officials said on Friday that armed groups from Russia who are against the government attacked in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.

During the war in Ukraine, which is the worst conflict in Europe since World War Two, a 71-year-old leader named Putin has a lot of power in Russia’s politics. The other three candidates on the ballot don’t seem to have a real chance of winning against him.

Over 114 million Russians can vote, including in areas of Ukraine that Russia says belong to them. These areas are controlled by Russian forces, but not completely. Ukraine says the elections there are not allowed and do not count.

Commander of volunteer fighter force from Canada passes away in Ukraine

A leader from Canada who was in charge of a group of volunteer fighters in Ukraine, called the Norman Brigade, has passed away.

The information was first spread online in chatrooms and social media posts and then shared by a Russian-owned news outlet called Sputnik.

Canada’s government knows that a Canadian person has died in Ukraine, but they won’t say who it is or how they died.

“We are thinking of his family and loved ones during this tough time,” said spokesperson Grantly Franklin. The officials are talking to the local authorities to get more information and are helping the family.

More update on this story soon.

  • Macron backtracks on his denial that western forces would enter Ukraine

Macron backtracks on his denial that western forces would enter Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the western countries should not appear weak in front of Russia. He also said that sending troops into Ukraine is an option that should not be dismissed, but he also mentioned that there is no need for it at the moment.

During a TV interview, Macron was asked about sending soldiers to Ukraine. He had mentioned this idea before, but other European leaders disagreed and said they were not planning to do that.

He said, “We are not in that situation right now, but there are many options for what could happen. ”

Macron, who is the leader of the country’s military, did not say when France would be willing to send soldiers. He said it’s Moscow’s job to make the first move, not ours, and France won’t attack Ukraine with Russia.

He also said, “To make Ukraine peaceful today, we must be strong and not weak. ”

Macron said the war between Russia and Ukraine is a big concern for France and Europe.

“If a war happens in Europe, it would only be Russia’s decision and Russia’s fault. ” If we choose to be weak and not respond today, we are already losing. “I don’t want that,” he said.

Macron’s interview on TV comes after the French parliament talked about their plan for Ukraine this week. Both the National Assembly and the Senate said yes to the 10-year security agreement between Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Macron said he will help Ukraine more at a meeting with the leaders of Germany and Poland in Berlin on Friday.

The French president was alone on the European stage after he made comments at a conference in Paris about Ukraine that upset other leaders. Scholz disagreed with Macron and said that European countries have agreed that they will not send soldiers to Ukraine.

French officials tried to explain what Macron said and calm down the criticism. They also said it’s important to show Russia that it can’t win in Ukraine.

Scholz said there are no problems between France and Germany. He has a good relationship with Macron.

France, Germany and Poland are coming together as the Weimar Triangle. This is really important because we are all worried about the bad effects of the Russian war on Ukraine. Scholz said this.

Helping Ukraine means making sure they have enough weapons like guns and missiles and defenses to protect themselves. It’s a real and important thing to do. “We need to talk about and improve this teamwork again,” Scholz said.

  • Russia claims Drone attacks by Ukraine against targets located far within its borders

Russia claims Drone attacks by Ukraine against targets located far within its borders

Officials from Russia have stated that Ukrainian drones successfully hit two oil buildings located deep inside Russia on Tuesday. At the same time, a group of armed people, said to be against the Russian government and based in Ukraine, caused concern in a border area just before Russia’s presidential election.

The drones attack in eight parts of Russia shows that Kyiv is getting better with technology as the war goes on for three years. The attack across the border made President Putin’s claim that the war hasn’t affected Russia seem less believable. Despite this, he is likely to win another six-year term because he has gotten rid of all opposition.

The news about fighting at the border was unclear, and it was impossible to be sure about what was happening in Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions. Attacks have been happening on and off in the area since the war started. People have been making different claims about who is responsible for the attacks, and there has been a lot of false information and propaganda spread about it.

Russian volunteers who are fighting for Ukraine, according to Kyiv officials, say they have crossed the border. The Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion posted videos and statements on social media, saying they were in Russia. They said they wanted “Russia free from Putin’s control. ”

The videos couldn’t be checked by someone else to see if they were real.

Ukrainian fighters tried to reach the town of Tetkino near the border, said the governor of Kursk region in Russia, Roman Starovoit. He said Tetkino was being attacked with bombs.

A group tried to sneak in and cause damage. He said in a video message on Telegram that there was a shooting battle, but no progress was made.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the Tetkino attacks were stopped, but didn’t give any more information.

It also said that Ukrainian soldiers tried four times to go into the Belgorod area, but all the attacks were stopped by warplanes, guns, and missiles.

Andrii Yusov from Ukraine’s intelligence agency said that the military groups are made up of Russian citizens.

“He said they do their own thing without anyone telling them what to do in Russia. ”

In May, Russia said that many Ukrainian fighters went into a town on its border in the Belgorod region. They attacked and made people leave, but more than 70 of the attackers were killed or sent back by a operation to stop terrorism. Ukrainian officials say they are not connected to the group.

At the same time, a drone from Ukraine hit and started a fire at an oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region, as reported by the governor, Gleb Nikitin. That area is about 775 kilometers (480 miles) from the border of Ukraine.

In another attack, a small flying robot was shot and destroyed in the area around Moscow. The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, said this. The drone was close to Zhukovsky Airport, one of Moscow’s four international airports, even though it was brought down far south of the city center.

Another flying robot crashed into a place where they store oil in Oryol, which is 116 kilometres away from Ukraine.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last year that his country had made a weapon that can reach a target 700 kilometres (400 miles) away, which seems to be talking about drones.

The Russian military said they stopped Ukrainian drones over several areas in Russia on Tuesday.

Kyiv has been carrying out more aggressive attacks across a 1,500-kilometre (930-mile) front line in eastern and southern Ukraine. It has also been using more sea drones in the Black Sea, saying it has sunk Russian warships.

Kyiv’s soldiers want more weapons and help from Western countries. But right now, they’re having a tough time fighting against the larger and better-equipped Russian army in some parts of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said that Russian progress has stopped and the fighting is now in a much better position than it was three months ago.

“We had some problems because we didn’t have enough weapons and the sky was full of Russian drones,” Zelenskyy said in an interview with France’s BFM TV and Le Monde published late Monday on the Ukrainian presidential website.

On Tuesday, a big Russian military plane called Il-76 crashed while trying to take off from an air base in western Russia. There were 15 people on board. The statement didn’t say if anyone lived through it. The ministry thinks that a fire in the engine when the plane was taking off probably caused the crash.

  • Russian armed groups from Ukraine report attacks into Russia

Russian armed groups from Ukraine report attacks into Russia

Three groups of Russian fighters from Ukraine say they have entered Russia and are now fighting against the government’s army.

The Freedom of Russia Legion (FRL) and Siberian Battalion (SB) shared videos claiming to show their soldiers in the Belgorod and Kursk regions of Russia.

The FRL and a Russian politician who was forced to leave his country said that “liberation forces” now have control of two villages.

Russia’s military department said they stopped the breakthrough attempts.

Ukraine’s military said they were not involved in the raids that happened across the border on Tuesday. Andriy Yusov, who speaks for the country’s military intelligence, said the paramilitary groups are independent organizations made up of Russian people, so they are operating in Russia.

In another situation, Russia said Ukraine sent 25 drones to attack Russia, but the attack was stopped. But, there are videos that seem to show many Russian oil facilities burning.

A military plane crashed near Moscow in the Ivanovo region. There were eight crew members and seven passengers on board. The plane went down shortly after it took off. This information came from Russia’s defence ministry, as reported by state-run news agencies.

The ministry said that the crash happened because the engine caught on fire. It did not say who survived.

Videos have come out showing a plane on fire flying in the sky, and then a lot of black smoke from where it crashed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin started a big war in Ukraine three years ago and it doesn’t seem like it will end anytime soon. It’s the biggest war in Europe since World War Two.

On Tuesday, the FRL shared a video that they said was from the border between Russia and Ukraine.

“We in the Legion want Russia to be free from Putin’s control, just like everyone else. ” But we don’t just imagine things, we work hard to make them happen. “We will slowly reclaim our land from the government,” a soldier with a gun said in the video.

At the same time, the SB reported that there is intense fighting happening on Russian land. They also showed a video of their fighters fighting against Russian government forces.

It also criticized the Russian presidential elections that are supposed to happen from 15th to 17th March, where Mr. Putin is predicted to win.

Voting and voting places are not real in this situation. The SB said that you can only improve your life if you have weapons in your hands.

Another group from Russia that is in Ukraine, called the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), shared videos of its members fighting against the Russian government troops.

“The soldiers in the Kremlin’s army stopped fighting before the battle even began,” it was said.

Tetkino, a small village in the Kursk region, was one of the places attacked on Tuesday. The FRL said they now have full control over the village.

The media has checked and confirmed that the FRL footage showing a strike on a military vehicle in Tetkino is real.

Kursk Mayor Igor Kutsak decided to have all schools in the area switch to online classes from March 13th to 15th because of something that happened recently.

He also said that the city still has a system to let people know if there is a missile coming. The city has more than 400,000 people.

Earlier today, a Russian politician from Ukraine named Illya Ponomarev said that a border village in the Belgorod region called Lozovaya Rudka is now controlled by forces that are trying to free it.

On Tuesday, the Russian defense ministry said its forces, border guards, and FSB security service stopped the Kyiv regime from trying to enter Russia.

The report said that enemy soldiers, with tanks and armored vehicles, tried to invade Russia at the same time in three different areas in Belgorod region.

It also said that there were four more attacks on Tetkino, but they were pushed back.

Russian groups from Ukraine have been attacking across the border into Ukraine since the invasion started.

In May of last year, the Russian military stopped a similar attack in the Belgorod region and defeated the armed rebels.

  • Zelensky celebrates Ukraine’s historic Oscar win

Zelensky celebrates Ukraine’s historic Oscar win

President Zelensky is happy about Ukraine winning its first Oscar for a documentary about Russia’s attack on Mariupol. Mr Zelensky said the movie tells the truth about terrorism in Russia.

The movie shows how the people of Mariupol are suffering while their city is being destroyed. It’s something we don’t see often.

Director Mstyslav Chernov said he felt happy and proud to be the first person from Ukraine to win an Oscar for the best documentary.

“I might be the first director on this stage to say that I wish I never made this film,” he said at the event in Los Angeles.

“I hope that Russia will never attack Ukraine or take over our cities,” he said. He also mentioned that Russia has killed many people from Ukraine.

Mr Chernov wants everyone to make sure that the true history is remembered and that the people of Mariupol and those who have died there are never forgotten.

Movies create memories, and those memories make up our history.

The director ended his speech by shouting “Glory to Ukraine. “, a phrase that many Ukrainians are now using to show support for their country, both at home and abroad.

The movie is getting a lot of attention on social media in Ukraine. A news channel even called it a “historic victory”. This information comes from James Waterhouse, a reporter for the BBC in Kyiv.

Mr Chernov’s group of three reporters recorded the slow surrounding of Mariupol by Russian soldiers in the early months of Russia’s complete attack in February 2022. Their movie shows the harsh reality of what happened to the people who lived there.

The team took a big risk filming there, and somehow they were able to leave the city by passing through many Russian checkpoints with the filmed material hidden under a car seat.

Mariupol, a city in southern Ukraine near the Sea of Azov, was almost completely destroyed by Russian soldiers after a lot of intense fighting.

Russia says it took over something in May 2022 and calls it “liberation”.

  • Two people including 16 years old murdered in Russian artillery strikes in Ukraine

Two people including 16 years old murdered in Russian artillery strikes in Ukraine

The government of Ukraine said that two people, including a young boy, were killed on Saturday in attacks by Russian artillery. Russia also said it had shot down a Ukrainian fighter jet and destroyed a group of drones in different areas.

Russia is winning in the fight, and Ukraine is running out of weapons. This is when the attacks happened.

Ukraine’s friends in the West are carefully considering sending soldiers. Poland’s Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski said on Friday that sending NATO soldiers to Ukraine is possible. French President Emmanuel Macron also said last month that this idea should be considered.

Serhiy Lysak, leader of Dnipropetrovsk region in Ukraine, said a 16-year-old boy was killed and a 22-year-old man was hurt in a morning attack with artillery in the town of Chervonohryhorivka. The town is across the river from the Russian Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is the biggest in Europe. The area is being attacked by Russians almost every day.

In Chasiv Yar, a person was killed by artillery fire, in the Donetsk region. This area is mostly controlled by Russia and has seen a lot of fighting during the three-year war.

The Russian military shot down 41 drones over the Rostov region, which is next to Ukraine and has a big army base. They also shot down two drones in the Kursk region and three in Volgograd. No one got hurt right away.

The government said that the air force destroyed a Ukrainian fighter jet over Pokrovsk, a city in the Donetsk region. This city is important to Russia and Ukraine lost control of another city called Avdiivka earlier in February. This is a big problem for Ukraine in their war against Russia.

The leader of a region in Russia called Belgorod said that drones from Ukraine attacked two villages near the border on Saturday, but no one got hurt. The governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, did not say how much damage the attacks caused.

Ukraine doesn’t want to talk about making peace with Russia, even though it has had some problems in its military. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy visited Turkey and Turkish President Erdogan said his country is ready to hold a meeting for peace between Russia and Ukraine.

However, Zelenskyy is determined not to talk directly with Russia about peace and has stated many times that the country being invaded should be the one to lead peace negotiations.

  • Russia invasion of Ukraine: 2-years on; Ghana’s role in Ukraine’s security system

Russia invasion of Ukraine: 2-years on; Ghana’s role in Ukraine’s security system

A decade after the unprovoked armed aggression by the Russian Federation, Ukraine reflects on the devastating impact that altered the course of its history and sent shockwaves across Europe and the world.

The lack of a decisive international response paved the way for a full-scale invasion in 2022, resulting in widespread violations of international law and human rights.

In the face of Russian attempts to annex Ukrainian territories through dubious referenda and elections, the international community condemns these actions, leading to an arrest warrant for Putin issued by the International Criminal Court.

Despite facing war crimes, Ukraine’s resilient people thwarted Putin’s ambitions, preserving their identity and fighting for democracy.

Ukraine expresses gratitude to global partners for political, military, financial, and humanitarian support against the aggressor state.

The nation remains steadfast in its determination to reclaim territorial integrity and highlights the need for a new international security system.

Ghana’s role in this process is acknowledged, with both nations committed to strengthening diplomatic ties.

Recent high-level discussions between the Presidents of Ukraine and Ghana at the WEF in Davos underscore the shared commitment to reinforcing relations.

Ukraine sees Ghana as a crucial partner in supplying agricultural products to African nations, emphasising its dedication to global food security despite Russian aggression.
Looking ahead, Ukraine anticipates a Global Peace Summit and urges Ghana to join in implementing the Peace Formula for comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace.

The shared conviction is that through collaborative efforts, territorial integrity will be restored, bringing lasting peace to Ukraine, Europe, and the world.

Ukraine is confident in Ghana’s continued support until victory is achieved.

NATO forces in Ukraine “not unthinkable” – Norway minister

The foreign minister of Poland thinks it’s possible for NATO forces to be in the Ukraine, and he’s grateful that the French president doesn’t reject that idea.

Radek Sikorski discussed the matter in a Polish parliament meeting, and his comments were shared in English on Twitter by the Foreign Ministry.
There is a big argument in Europe about how to help Ukraine because Russia is winning the war and Kyiv is low on ammunition. The United States. Congress is not giving Ukraine the help it really needs to fight the Russians, which is making Europe feel more pressure to do something about the war in Europe.

French President Emmanuel Macron said last month that it is possible that troops from Western countries may go to Ukraine. This made other leaders very upset because it is not something they usually talk about. French leaders tried to explain Macron’s words and reduce the negative reaction. They also believed it was important to show Russia that they cannot succeed in their war in Ukraine.

The Kremlin says if NATO sends soldiers to fight, there will definitely be a war between NATO and Russia. Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that doing this could lead to a big war with nuclear weapons all over the world.

Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, said that Poland will not send soldiers to Ukraine, even after Macron’s comments.

But just before two weeks, Sikorski changed his attitude.

“He said that NATO forces being in Ukraine is possible,” according to a tweet from the Foreign Ministry. He said he liked Macron’s idea because it’s about making Putin scared, not us being scared of Putin.

Sikorski’s comment is part of a bigger change to agree with Macron’s viewpoint, according to Phillips O’Brien, a professor at the University of St.

  • Attacks from Ukraine progressively weakening Russia’s Black Sea navy

Attacks from Ukraine progressively weakening Russia’s Black Sea navy

Ukrainian sea robots reportedly destroyed another Russian warship in the Black Sea on Tuesday. This is the latest attack in a series that has weakened Moscow’s navy and made it harder for them to fight in the war, which has been going on for three years.

The Ukrainian military used drones and missiles to successfully attack the enemy. This has made the soldiers in Kyiv feel more confident, especially because they are outnumbered and outgunned by the Russian forces along the long frontline.

Confronting Russia’s naval power has also made it easier for Ukraine to export grain and other goods from its ports on the Black Sea.

Here are recent attacks by Ukraine on Russian naval ships and what happened as a result.

    Non-stop hits

Ukrainian naval drones have attacked a patrol ship near the Kerch Strait. The Kerch Strait connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. This information comes from Ukraine’s military intelligence agency. The attack killed seven Russian crew members and injured six. 52 crew members were rescued. We cannot be sure if this information is true.

The Russian Defence Ministry did not say anything about the claim, but some Russian military bloggers said that the ship was lost and its crew was saved.

If it’s true, the strike would be the most recent time Ukraine’s own Magura drones, small boats that can move fast without any crew, have been used successfully. These drones have become a big problem for the Russian navy. Just last month, drones destroyed Russia’s Caesar Kunikov ship and Ivanovets missile boat. The Russian military has not admitted to the losses, but Russian military bloggers and some media have reported on them.

In late December, Ukraine used long-range cruise missiles to destroy a Russian landing vessel in Crimea’s port of Feodosia. The Russian military said the ship was hurt in the attack, but Russian war bloggers said it was destroyed.

The Ukrainian military has been continuously using cruise missiles and drones to attack Russian radar facilities, air defense systems, and air bases in Crimea, which is a part of Ukraine that Russia took over in 2014. Ukrainian soldiers shot down two Russian planes in the Sea of Azov in January and February. This made it harder for Russia to gather important information.

The attacks happened after Ukraine had already done well in the war. They sank one of Russia’s important ships and also attacked their headquarters.

    Ukraine’s dangerous weapons

Ukraine is using remote-controlled drone boats with explosives to help them win naval battles against Russia, even though Russia has way more firepower. The Magura drones have really good GPS and cameras, and they are hard to detect because they don’t show up much on radar.

The new Magura V5 is 5. 5 meters long and weighs up to 1,000 kilograms. It can travel up to 800 kilometers and has a battery life of 60 hours. It can also carry up to 200 kilograms of weight. Ukrainian authorities provided this information. It also sends live video to the people who are in charge.

Ukraine also used cruise missiles given by the U. KFrance and Russia are fighting because France attacked Russian things in Crimea. The missiles were made by Britain and France together and the U. Kcalled them Storm Shadow. France and Ukraine’s old warplanes launch SCALP-EG missiles that can travel more than 250 kilometres.

Western leaders are impressed with how Ukraine has been able to use its limited resources to fight against stronger Russian forces. They have managed to destroy about 20% of the Black Sea fleet, which has weakened Russia’s naval power.

    Stopping the Russian blockade.

The attacks on Russian ships helped Ukraine to increase its food and other exports from the Black Sea, even though Russia stopped guaranteeing safe shipment of Ukrainian grain last summer.

Moscow backing out of the deal could mean that Russian ships may attack ships carrying Ukrainian grain and other products. This could hurt the Ukrainian economy and make food shortages an issue for the world.

However, the constant Ukrainian attacks on Russian warships and other military equipment in the area have caused Russia’s fleet to become defensive, reducing its ability to attack.

    What was Russia’s response.

Russian military bloggers and commentators are mad at the Defence Ministry for not doing enough to protect the navy from attacks by drones and missiles from Ukraine. The Defence Ministry hasn’t said much about it.

The strikes made the Russian navy do things to keep ships safe. They had to move some ships from ports in Crimea to Novorossiysk so they wouldn’t get hurt. This made it harder for the navy to do its work.

Even though the Black Sea fleet was damaged in attacks from Ukraine, it is still strong and can still launch long-distance missile attacks at Ukraine. Russian air bases in Crimea are still working and have planes that are flying missions to help their soldiers on the ground.

Russian military bloggers said that the leader of the Black Sea fleet, Adm. Viktor Sokolov was fired last month because the warships under his command kept getting lost. They did not officially confirm that he was removed from his position.

  • Another Russian warship sunk in the Black Sea – Ukraine

Another Russian warship sunk in the Black Sea – Ukraine

A Russian warship in the Black Sea was reportedly sunk by high-tech sea drones used by Ukraine on Tuesday. This happened as Ukraine’s forces are targeting places far away from the front line of the war. Russian officials did not say if it is true.

The Ukrainian military used small boats with explosives to destroy a big ship called Sergey Kotov. The small boats were made in Ukraine and controlled by a special unit. They did this overnight. Ukraine said a patrol ship near the Kerch Strait was hit. It can carry cruise missiles and has about 60 crew members.

It is not clear if the Ukrainian claim is true, and there has been false information in the fighting that started after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Kyiv’s soldiers are trying hard to keep the well-supplied Russian army from advancing at certain places on the 1,500-kilometer front line. They are also attacking targets far from the battlefield.

Ukraine has defeated Russian warships in the Black Sea, so now they can send grain out by ship.

The Ukraine defense ministry shared a video on X, which was previously known as Twitter, showing a nighttime attack on the Sergey Kotov.

The security company Ambrey reported that the attack happened at the port of Feodosia, in Crimea, which Russia took over in 2014. Ambrey said that they have seen a video taken by someone on a merchant ship in the port, which shows the Sergey Kotov shooting at the drones.

The ship got hit two times. The second hit caused a big explosion, according to Ambrey.

Ukraine said it used drones to sink two Russian warships last month. 1, it said it sank the Russian missile-armed ship Ivanovets, and on Feb. It was reported that the Caesar Kunikov landing ship was destroyed. Russian officials did not say that those statements are true.

Authorities in Kyiv said that around 20% of missile attacks from Russia on Ukraine come from the Black Sea. They also mentioned that it would be a source of embarrassment for Moscow if their ships in the Black Sea were hit.

Just about a year ago, a big ship from Russia’s Black Sea fleet called the Moskva sank because it was hit by missiles.

  • Biden and Meloni of Italy to speak during period of concern over Ukraine

Biden and Meloni of Italy to speak during period of concern over Ukraine

United States President Joe Biden will be meeting with Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni at the White House on Friday to discuss new laws to help Ukraine. Biden is also facing challenges from House Republicans and other problems in his own country.

Biden told European leaders that the U.S will support them. Ukraine’s leader still needs to get approval for extra money from the US. The aid package includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $35 billion for Israel, and Taiwan. The new law was approved by the Senate, but the Speaker of the House, who is a Republican named Mike Johnson, doesn’t want to bring it up for a vote.

Prior to Meloni’s visit, the White House officials said they don’t have good answers for friends about ending the disagreement with House Republicans and giving aid to Kyiv. This aid is really important because Ukraine is trying to defend itself from Russia’s invasion.

However, White House spokesperson Olivia Dalton said it’s clear that this is affecting not only our country’s safety, but also the safety of our friends in other countries.

Biden and other important politicians asked Johnson to approve the foreign aid package, but Johnson said Congress needs to focus on helping America first.

Biden and Meloni are meeting for the second time in about seven months, on Friday. Both leaders are dealing with fighting in the Middle East and Europe and trying to improve their popularity with the public.

Biden is getting ready to face Donald Trump again in November. Trump is expected to be the Republican candidate. Biden wants to be president again, but some people worry he is too old at 81. Some Democrats are also upset with how he dealt with the Israel-Hamas war, and not everyone is happy with how the American economy is doing.

Surveys show that Meloni’s right-wing Brothers of Italy Party got a lot of votes in 2022 and is still very popular in Italy, but its support has gone down in the past year. Her group had a problem this week because the person she supported in the Sardinia regional elections didn’t win.

Meloni will see if people still like her in four more local elections and the election for European parliament in June 2024.

Gianluca Pastori, an expert at the ISPI think tank in Milan, said that Meloni and Biden are both having problems for different reasons. This meeting can show the public that there is a strong relationship with allies that are seen as important.

Meloni went to Kyiv last week to lead a meeting with the Group of Seven leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting was held on the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion. The leaders of Belgium, Canada, and the EU Commission went to Kyiv with Meloni. Biden and other leaders joined them through a video call. In January, Italy started leading the G7 group for one year.

During her recent visit to Kyiv, Meloni confirmed that Italy will continue to support Ukraine and signed a agreement to help Ukraine with security and military assistance until the end of the year. Italy is also dedicated to helping Ukraine rebuild old buildings and structures.

The Biden administration was worried when Meloni became the leader of Italy’s first far-right government since World War II ended. However, both of them agree on supporting Ukraine. When Meloni visited Washington in July, Biden praised her and Italy for their support to Kyiv.

The leaders planned to discuss how the U. S, Egypt, and Qatar are trying to make Israel and Hamas stop fighting, Italy’s plans for leading the G7, people coming to Italy from North Africa, and how their countries deal with China.

Biden said earlier this week that he thinks a cease-fire deal could be made by next week. But he said that a potential agreement might have been delayed because Israeli soldiers shot at a big group of Palestinians who were trying to get food from a delivery of aid in Gaza City. More than 100 people died.

Meloni was very upset and worried about the incident.

“It is very important for Israel to understand what is happening and who is to blame,” Meloni said. She also called for more talks to stop the fighting and to free the hostages.

Meloni is going to Canada to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday.

NATO military officer advises leaders and allies to prepare for unforeseen circumstances in Ukraine

NATO says that Western armies and political leaders need to change how they help Ukraine protect itself from enemy forces.

During a meeting of the NATO alliance, the head of the military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that President Vladimir Putin is afraid of democracy and this is why he started the war. This year, there are many elections happening in different countries around the world.

In Brussels, NATO’s top leaders will discuss plans for the largest military exercises in Europe since the Cold War. The exercises will happen later this year. The wargames are a way for NATO to show how strong they are and to promise to protect all their friends from being attacked.

troop levels slated to decline by the end of the year, American forces need to focus on helping the Iraqis rather than taking control of more cities and regions. Ukraine’s economy is suffering because of the conflict, and the European Union’s money is not getting to the country because of political fighting. Bauer wants everyone to work together to solve the problem, not just the military.

“We need both government and business leaders to change how they think. In the past, they were used to being able to plan, see what’s coming, and control everything to be as efficient as possible. Now, they need to be ready for anything to happen at any moment. ” “We are living in times where we should be prepared for surprises,” he said when he started the meeting.

Bauer said we need to change how NATO fights wars so it can work better in the future.

Monday, United Kingdom Grant Shapps, who is the person in charge of defense, said that the government will send 20,000 soldiers to join NATO’s military exercises called “Steadfast Defender. ” They will be in eastern Europe from February to June.

The United Kingdom will also send highly advanced fighter jets and surveillance planes, as well as warships and submarines.

Due to allies sending military supplies to Ukraine, Norway’s government will spend 2 billion kroner to increase ammunition production because there is a shortage.

Norway’s Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said it’s important to make the defense industry stronger to help Ukraine and to protect our own security.

Half of the money will go to Nammo, a company in Norway that makes weapons and rocket parts. The Prime Minister said it’s to help them make more bullets for cannons.

In Brussels, Bauer said NATO will keep helping Ukraine for a long time.

“Today is the 693rd day of a war that Russia thought would only last three days. ” We will continue to support Ukraine every day because the result of this war will affect the future of the world.

Bauer added that this war is not really about any serious danger to Russia from Ukraine or NATO. This war is because Russia is scared of something that is even stronger than any weapon – democracy. If people in Ukraine can have freedom to choose their leaders and rights, then people in Russia will also want the same.

  • Hungarian minority in Ukraine now enjoys better conditions

Hungarian minority in Ukraine now enjoys better conditions

Under the supervision of their teacher, students in western Ukraine conducted a pig heart dissection for a biology lesson during the weekend. They used a scalpel and forceps to do it. The class was in Hungarian. The students are part of a big group of Hungarian people in Ukraine.

This has caused problems between Hungary and Ukraine. It might make it hard for Ukraine to get money to fight against Russia’s invasion.
Hungarian leader Viktor Orban says Ukraine is not letting students and about 75,000 ethnic Hungarians in Zakarpattia region speak their own language in school and government.

His government has stopped important European Union money for Ukraine and warned that they might make it harder for Ukraine to join the European Union in the future. This has made diplomatic relationships between the two countries very tense.

The argument about language comes from Ukraine wanting to strengthen its national identity after rebels supported by Russia took over two areas in the eastern part of the country in 2014. Also, Russia took control of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula.

In 2017, a law was passed that made Ukrainian the main language in schools after fifth grade. This upset Romanian, Bulgarian, and Hungarian minorities. The law was meant to fight against Russian influence.

In December, Ukraine changed its education and language laws to follow the rules for being part of the EU. This made the Hungarian community in the region very happy.

The new laws basically allowed the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia to keep existing for another 30 years, according to Laszlo Zubanics, who leads a group that represents Hungarian interests in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s government is now trying to include the interests of all groups of people, not just the main one. This is different from before when they mainly focused on building the country.

Many ethnic Hungarians think it’s a good thing that the law changed to let minority groups study in their own languages again. Hungary’s government is not completely happy. This could lead to problems as EU leaders try to convince Orban to change his mind about blocking a 50-billion euro aid package for Kyiv.

The law passed at the end of last year in Ukraine definitely deserves respect. “It helped to stop a bad situation,” said Peter Szijjarto, the Foreign Minister of Hungary, on Monday after meeting with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine in western Ukraine.

However, he said, “We don’t see that the problem of national minorities has been solved at all. We still have a lot of work to do.

After Russia attacked Ukraine, Orban, who is seen as a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been against giving military and financial help to Ukraine and imposing punishment on Moscow. He often uses the Hungarian community as a reason for his not so strong support for Ukraine.

Many Hungarians in Zakarpattia support Orban and also want Kyiv to join the EU. Orban is doubtful about Ukraine joining the EU. He said in November that it is a long way off and he wants Ukraine to guarantee language rights for Hungarians before he supports them.

Zubanics agreed with a letter asking Orban to support Ukraine’s EU membership in December. He is hopeful even though there is tension between Hungary and Ukraine.

“We think of ourselves as being European citizens in our mindset and customs,” he said. “We know that this will take time and it may be difficult for everyone. It won’t happen right away. ”

The government of Hungary has given a lot of money to support the minority in Ukraine, trying to make sure they keep their Hungarian culture and ties to Budapest strong. It made it easier to become a Hungarian citizen, but Ukraine, which does not allow people to have citizenship in two countries, has not liked this.

In a small city called Berehove, in Zakarpattia, near the Hungarian border, the government of Orban helped start a campus for a conservative private school called Matthias Corvinus Collegium. This school has 23 locations in Hungary and nearby countries.

The MCC got more than $1. 5 billion from Hungary’s government and is a place where Orban wants to train the future leaders of the country.

Hungarian students cut up a pig’s heart during a biology class at their school over the weekend. This is part of a special program to help them learn more about biology in Hungarian, which is one of the languages in the public schools in Zakarpattia. They were able to ask questions and get answers in their own language.

MCC says it gives lots of students classes in subjects like robotics, media, and internet knowledge. These classes aren’t taught at Ukraine’s public schools in any language.

Milan Constantinovits, second in command at MCC, said it’s really important for people in Zakarpattia, where there are many different cultures, to think carefully about who they are. “Most Hungarian students who come here are very sure that they think of themselves as Hungarian first. ”

He said that the MCC works hard to teach people from different cultures to be tolerant and respectful. They also offer Ukrainian lessons to Hungarian students who are learning it as their second language. Living together peacefully was always the norm, but then bigger problems started affecting the whole area.

“Ethnic conflicts often come from outside this diverse area,” he said. The people who live next to each other, the original people of this area, don’t really have any issues with each other. Many times this is a made-up increase in tensions.

The meeting on Monday between Szijjarto and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba was their first since the war started in February 2022. There are also plans for Orban to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which suggests things are starting to improve a little bit.

However, Hungary’s government is still not fully ready to support Ukraine, even though the situation for the Hungarians in Zakarpattia is getting better. Zubanics said that both sides will need to work harder.

He said that diplomacy is like a performing art, sometimes more like a play than actual real life. “But we need to focus on the details now. I believe the parties have a lot in common, but we need their willingness to work together.

  • Rumours that commander-in-chief of Ukraine would be fired expose divisions among Ukraine’s elite

Rumours that commander-in-chief of Ukraine would be fired expose divisions among Ukraine’s elite

Ukraine’s top leaders are in disagreement over whether to dismiss the country’s top military leader due to conflicts with the President.

Zelenskyy’s office and the Defense Ministry said Valerii Zaluzhnyi isn’t getting fired. He is still in his job as a top commander and is very popular. But the reports have made people think he might quit soon, which could be good for Russia as the war gets close to two years.

His leaving would be the biggest change in Ukraine’s top military leaders since Russia invaded. The country is struggling with not having enough ammunition and soldiers after a failed attack in the summer. This could also make Ukrainian soldiers feel unhappy and demoralized, they have been fighting tough battles for almost two years.

The USis stopping the important help the military needs to keep fighting. Congress and Ukrainian soldiers are getting ready to protect their positions from Russian troops moving forward.

“Zelensky can fire Zaluzhnyi. ” “Oleksii Haran, who works at a research organization in Kyiv, says that he must have a really good reason for it and explain it well to the people in Ukraine. ”

“We understand that if Zaluzhnyi is fired now, Russian propaganda and other groups, even in the US, will use it to hinder the delivery of weapons to Ukraine. ” Haran said this is not good.

Zaluzhnyi is liked by many people and the military, but he doesn’t get along with Zelenskyy because of a comment he made about fighting with Russia. The president said it wasn’t true.

Ukrainian media said there might be a chance that Zaluzhnyi could lose his job. Ukraine’s newspaper Mirror of the Week reported that the president asked a general to leave his job, according to sources close to Zelenskyy and Zaluzhnyi. Zaluzhnyi was asked to be an adviser, but he said no, according to the reports.

The Associated Press was not able to check if the reports are true. Ukrainian officials, the president’s office, and Zaluzhnyi’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

Russian government media were happy on Wednesday about rumors from Western sources. They talked about the rumors many times during the main discussion show “60 Minutes” on Russia 1 TV and also during news updates on Russia 24.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the Kremlin is definitely keeping track of the news about Zaluzhnyi.

“Many questions remain,” Peskov said, according to Tass, and he added, “It’s clear that the government in Kyiv has a lot of problems and things are not going well there. ” This is easy to understand.

“It’s clear that the failed attack and the problems at the front have caused more fighting. ” “In both the high-ranking military and civilian people in Kyiv,” Peskov said. He said that more fighting will happen as Russia’s military operation keeps going well.

Supporting Ukraine is the best thing you can do – Foreign minister to Canadian electorates

Ukraine’s foreign minister has asked Canadian voters to help his country by giving more support as it’s been two years since Russia invaded.

Dmytro Kuleba talked to Vassy Kapelos on CTV’s Question Period in an interview that will be shown on Sunday. He said that the war in Ukraine is about the future of a free country and the way the world works together.

“You have your own problems at home, you have your own fights at home,” Kuleba said when asked about how worried he is about Canadian Conservative MPs voting against a new trade deal between Canada and Ukraine.

“This is your business, but I want to talk to the people in Canada who vote for different parties,” he said. “The most helpful thing you can do is to give your support to Ukraine. ”

He also said to Kapelos that Ukraine cannot afford to be concerned about the politics of other countries.

“We’re not in a time of peace for politics, when politicians can choose a problem and use it for their own benefit,” he said. “We’re not using it for fun because the situation in Ukraine is about people’s lives. ”

Kuleba gave an interview right after European Union countries agreed to give Ukraine a new aid package worth 50 billion euros (C$81 billion).

He said that the United States Congress is stuck on whether to give more help to Ukraine. The writer hopes that American lawmakers will do what the EU is doing and give more support.

Kuleba hopes that people in Washington will wake up and read the news from Europe this morning. “The EU’s decision will make talks in the US better. “

When asked how probable he thinks that is, Kuleba said he wouldn’t guess.

“I’m not very good at reading tarot cards. ” Kuleba said, “I don’t guess. ” “I work hard every day to make things happen. ” -> “I work hard every day to make things happen.

“People were starting to question if the decision made today would work,” he said. “People are questioning the Congress’s decision, but we are still working hard to make it happen. ”

Kuleba also said the Ukrainian government will work with whoever becomes the next president of the United States. The vote happened, even though Donald Trump didn’t want a new aid agreement.

The foreign minister said Ukraine supports the decision of American voters and his country can’t afford to focus on other countries’ domestic choices because it’s too busy dealing with war.

“He said we don’t have enough money for that. ” “We are in a battle. “

  • European Union to give Ukraine $54 billion

European Union to give Ukraine $54 billion

EU leaders have agreed to give Ukraine 50 billion euros ($54 million) to help its economy, which has been badly affected by the war. This happened after Hungary decided to no longer block the measure.

The help package is mostly loans that have to be paid back and some grants. It will be given over four years. It is not meant to pay for weapons, which will be covered by a different EU plan. Instead, it wants to make Ukraine’s economy stable after almost two years of fighting, pay for rebuilding, and prepare the country to join the EU in the future.

The package will help Kyiv with money while making sure prices don’t go up a lot like they did after Russia invaded in February 2022. Ukraine’s economy was severely hurt by war and being taken over by Moscow. Many factories in the east were taken by Russia.

The central bank needed to make more money to pay for government expenses, and as a result, prices went up a lot, reaching 26%. Last year, the economy got a little better, but Kyiv uses almost all of its tax money for the war.

As of Saturday, President Zelenskyy’s office and the Ukrainian finance ministry have not said how they will spend the money. However, EU authorities, Ukrainian lawmakers and diplomats have mentioned important things that worry them.

Zelenskyy was happy to receive help and he posted about it on a social media platform called X, which used to be called Twitter. He said that if the EU keeps giving money to Ukraine, it will help their economy stay strong in the long run. This is just as important as the military help and sanctions against Russia.

Russia’s economy has been able to withstand the economic sanctions from Ukraine’s Western allies better than expected. This is despite the fact that there is a limit on the price of Russian oil and natural gas, and other countries are looking for alternative energy sources instead of relying on Russia.

In late November, Moscow approved its largest federal budget, with more money going to the military than to social programs for the first time in modern Russian history. Low unemployment, higher pay, and more money for social programs have helped the Russian government deal with the effects of focusing the economy on preparing for war.

Some experts believe the government’s spending plans are not sustainable for a long time. They think taxes will go up after the presidential election in March.

  • Putin cautions the West from deploying forces in Ukraine

Putin cautions the West from deploying forces in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the Western countries not to send soldiers to Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin said that the results of that decision would be very bad.

In his yearly speech to the country, President Putin said that the West is trying to get Russia into a competition to build more weapons. He said that Russia needs to make its defenses stronger on the western border because Sweden and Finland are joining Nato.

President Putin said that the West started the fighting in Ukraine and keeps lying by saying that Russia plans to attack Europe.

Perhaps talking about what French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier this week, President Putin said that sending Nato ground troops to Ukraine is not out of the question. He also said that there will be consequences for anyone who tries to intervene. Sad and unfortunate.

“We also have weapons that can attack targets on their land,” he said.

This could lead to a big fight using nuclear weapons and the end of society. Do they understand that.

Many Nato countries, like the US, Germany, and the UK, said they won’t send soldiers to Ukraine.

President Putin said that Russia has very advanced weapons, like super-fast planes and unmanned vehicles that can go underwater. He also said that Russia’s nuclear forces are ready for action.

President Putin called the conflict in Ukraine a “war” even though he usually tries to say it’s a “special military operation. ”

He said most Russians agreed with his decision to invade Ukraine, and that the Russian people were now working together to resist the Western countries trying to make Russia weaker.

He also criticized the US for accusing Russia of making nuclear weapons for attacking satellites in space.

The speech happened a little more than two weeks before the Russian president election. Many people think President Putin will win a fifth time.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the speech could be seen as Putin’s plan for the upcoming election.

Yes, a lot of the speech talked about things happening in Russia, like changing the tax system and helping people save for retirement. It also talked about trying to increase the number of babies being born in Russia.

He also said we need to make our nation healthier. He announced plans to help Russians live longer because right now, they don’t live as long as other Europeans.

Encouraging people to exercise more and drink less alcohol, he made a joke: “Quit drinking and go skiing. ”

President Putin is skiing while wearing a red outfit.

The speech went on for a very long time, two hours, and was heard by important politicians, the leaders of big oil and gas companies, and religious leaders from all different beliefs.

It was shown on big screens in Moscow and some cinemas in Russia showed it for free.

As expected, they didn’t talk about the death of Alexei Navalny, the opposition leader who died in a prison in Siberia two weeks ago. Many people thought he was President Putin’s biggest enemy.

Navalny will be laid to rest in Moscow on Friday. He died on February 16th under circumstances that are still not fully understood. His wife Yulia says that President Putin was to blame.

  • Prime minister of Britain visits Ukraine to provide relief

Prime minister of Britain visits Ukraine to provide relief

The UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced new money for Ukraine’s military when he visited Kyiv. His goal is to show that the West is still helping Ukraine for almost two years after Russia attacked.

The UK will get Ukraine a big package of 2. 5 billion pounds (US$3. 2 billion) next year. The British government has given Ukraine more money since the war started, which is 200 million pounds (US$233 million) more than before.

I am here today with one message: The U. K”Will” means that something is going to happen in the future or that it is a possibility. “Do not hesitate,” Sunak said. “We will support Ukraine during difficult times and in the future. ”

The package will cover the costs of buying long-range missiles, thousands of drones, air defense, artillery ammunition, and maritime security, according to Sunak’s office. This happens when the U. Sgives money for other things. Europe is caught up in political arguments and disagreements.

“We’re not leaving,” Sunak said at a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukrainian leaders are happy that the U. K”The announcement shows that Western support for its fight against a bigger neighbor is not getting weaker, as some people thought. ”

Zelenskyy said, “This is a message to the world: Ukraine has support. ”

Sunak and Zelenskyy agreed to work together on keeping their countries safe for the next 10 years. “It will stay in place until Ukraine joins NATO, Zelenskyy said. ” Officials said they will tell us more about the agreement at a later time.

Kyiv has been asking Western countries to send more help like the U. KThe war is still going on and not much is changing at the front. Both sides are now using long-distance attacks.

Sunak said he went to Ukraine for his first trip of the year to show strong support and to stand with Ukraine, as the situation there is serious and they need international attention.

Russian leader Putin has to understand that we are staying here.

“We want Ukraine to succeed,” said Sunak, who mentioned that helping Kyiv is a way to keep the world safe. “If Putin wins in Ukraine, he will keep going. ”

Sunak visited shortly after the British and U. SleadersThe army attacked Yemen, hitting over 12 places used by the Houthis, who are supported by Iran.

Thursday’s attacks reminded us of the long-lasting war in the poorest country in the Arab world. The attack also had the potential to start a bigger fight in the region because of Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza.

The worries have made people focus on something else instead of Ukraine’s problems, but Zelenskyy is working to solve this through talking with other countries.

Sunak went to Ukraine in November 2022, not long after he became prime minister. Britain strongly supports Ukraine. It is the second largest giver of military help to Ukraine after the U. SIt has given a total of 4. 6 billion pounds (US$5. 8 billion) in 2022 and 2023.

Ukraine and Russia are trying to get more weapons this year, say military experts. They think there might be big fights on the ground in 2025, so the countries want to be ready.

Sunak said that the United Kingdom (U. K) Aid is the largest amount of help one country has given for drones, which are important weapons in the battlefield.

The front line in Ukraine and Russia is about 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) long. It has not really changed during the winter. Both countries need weapons like artillery shells, missiles, and drones to attack from far away.

Ukraine says that Moscow is getting artillery shells and missiles from North Korea and drones from Iran.

Poland urges allies to “stay engaged” in Ukraine conflict

The ambassador of Canada to Poland is urging other nations to continue providing support in the conflict taking place nearby for the past two years.

Two years after Russia invaded Ukraine, Catherine Godin said that the war is a serious and current danger for the people of Poland.

She made this comments after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went to Ukraine to show support. He promised more help with money and weapons, and said he will keep supporting Ukraine for a long time.

Godin said that Poland and Canada have worked closely to train soldiers and provide help.

She says Poland is thankful for Canada‘s help in protecting NATO’s eastern side in Latvia.

However, as other western countries are becoming less supportive of Ukraine, Godin wants Poland to ensure that they continue to take the war seriously.

The Pentagon runs out of funds for Ukraine as it prepares to host summit of fifty allies

The US has said it doesn’t have any more money to help Ukraine and can’t send the guns and missiles they need to defend against Russia’s attack.

The Biden administration didn’t have anything to offer at a meeting for about 50 countries that help Ukraine because they were focused on politics at home. The team was created by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in April 2022.

While waiting for Congress to agree on sending more money to help Ukraine, Washington will ask other countries to help cover the costs in the meantime.

I encourage this group to work hard to give Ukraine more air defense systems and interceptors that can save lives. Austin said this during a speech from his home, where he’s recovering from prostate cancer surgery.

The first time Austin, who is 70 years old, appeared in public was in a video, and he looked a little thin. He had to stay in the hospital for two weeks because he had problems after the surgery.

After the meeting, Celeste Wallander, who works for the defense department, told reporters that Ukraine’s defense ministry is getting reports from its front lines that “soldiers do not have enough ammunition. ”

Wallander said, “That’s why we have been focusing on answering Congress’ questions, so they can make a decision on passing legislation with help. ”

Ukraine is waiting to see what Congress will decide, but European friends are already taking action to help Ukraine.

In Brussels, the leader of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said that they will spend $1. 2 billion to buy more than 222,000 rounds of 155 mm bullets. The bullets are very important in the war, and the contract will help allies who need more bullets for fighting in Kyiv.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas has been in the news a lot, but Russia is still attacking Ukraine.

Russia attacked Ukraine on Tuesday with over 40 missiles in the two large cities, causing damage to homes and killing at least five people. The attack happened after Moscow refused to agree to any deal supported by Kyiv and its Western allies to end the war that has been going on for almost two years.

Ukraine stopped at least 21 missiles with its air defences. But the attacks hurt at least 20 people in four parts of Kyiv, the main city.

The Pentagon said it will stop giving security help to Ukraine in December. At the age of 27, a $250 million gift included 155 mm rounds, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and other items that are in high demand from the U. SinventoryStockpiles are large collections or reserves of goods or materials.

The United States They can’t buy more weapons because they don’t have enough money, and Congress hasn’t approved more funds.

Over $110 billion in help for Ukraine and Israel is delayed because Congress and the White House disagree on other important issues, like making the U. S-Mexico border more secure.

Senators from both political parties are working together to make a deal. This deal would give Ukraine almost $61 billion in help and also change the country’s border rules. Republicans want to reduce the help that Ukraine is getting. They think that European countries can give money to Ukraine instead.

“I want to see smaller portions,” said Senator. John Thune from South Dakota, who is second in command among the Republican senators, told reporters on Tuesday. “I think the number is very big and there are a lot of things paid for with it. ”

However, even if the Senate agrees on a deal, the plan will still have to face strong opposition in the House. Many Republicans in the House have consistently voted against supporting Ukraine in the war.

America Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, they have given Ukraine more than $44. 2 billion in security help. Approximately $236 billion was taken from the military’s current supplies, and about $19 billion was used for long-term contracts to buy military items that will take a few months to get. Although there is no more money, some weapons that were bought before will still be delivered.

Putin kills priest at a church bombing in Ukraine

At least four people including a priest were killed after Russian soldiers detonated a large bomb on a church in Ukraine.

Several days following the commencement of a significant conflict by Russia, they unleashed large bombs on the Kharkiv region.
A Ukrainian priest was found under the debris of a church in the front line city of Kupiansk. He was one of the victims.

His name was Yuriy Klymko and he was 58years old. He was also a chaplain in the Ukrainian military.

The Church of Jesus Christ was reported to have been struck. A 58year old pastor was found trapped under the collapsed building, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.

The body of a 39-year-old man was found near the church, in a damaged café. His body had blood on it.

Kharkiv’s leader, Oleh Synehubov, said five people were hurt in the city, which is about 40 miles from the border with Russia.

A little girl and her grandpa, who were 48yearsold, were killed in the village of Velykyi Burluk.

Earlier today, at least 12 houses were damaged in the attack.

Before the war, Kupiansk was a busy train station with around30,000 people living there.

Russian forces briefly took over the area, but Ukraine was able to take it back later that year.

  • Ukraine downs 10 Russian jets out of the sky in 10 days

Ukraine downs 10 Russian jets out of the sky in 10 days

Ukraine’s military has announced that it has shot down 10 Russian military jets in the past 10 days, a dramatic rise from the previous months.

The statement comes in spite of the shortages faced by Ukrainian forces due to delays in Western supplies.

Ukraine claims that it has destroyed a total of 342 Russian planes and 325 helicopters since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

These numbers cannot be confirmed independently. Russia remains silent.

“Another one! In addition to the one in the morning!” Ukraine’s General Staff posted on Facebook on the afternoon of 27 February.

“Oops, we did it again!” the Ukrainian defence ministry joked on X (formerly known as Twitter). “And now it’s 10 ruined Russian planes in 10 days!”

Ukrainian Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk says that the latest two Russian aircraft to be shot down are Su-34 bombers – both downed in the east of the country.

“Considering such losses of fighter and special aircraft, the Russians should think twice and stop their aviation meat grinders for a while,” he said.

Gen Oleshchuk was referring to a Russian military strategy that involves sending large numbers of troops into combat with no care for their lives.

Ukraine says that it has shot down some of the best aircraft that the Russian air force has to offer between 17 and 27 February.

They include a highly advanced and rare A-50 military spy plane. If true, this would be the second A-50 to be shot down in just over a month, a humiliating loss for Russia and a major victory for Ukraine.

The other Russian planes that Ukraine says it has shot down in that period are seven Su-34s and two S-35 fighter jets.

One weapon that Ukraine is likely to have used is the US-supplied Patriot surface-to-air missile.

The higher number of Russian planes that Ukraine says it has shot down recently suggests that “Ukraine is being more aggressive with risking Patriot launchers close to the frontlines in order to engage Russian jets,” Justin Bronk, a senior research fellow at the London-based think-tank Rusi, told the BBC.

The recent surge has several possible reasons, such as increased deployment of such aircraft by Russia and more effective air defence systems used by Ukraine.

But without precise information on resources deployed on the battlefield, it can be hard to fully explain the increase in Ukrainian claims.

Such an increase, however, is still noteworthy.

Despite the French President Macron, suggesting considering all options to send soldiers to Ukraine, some Nato countries such as the US, Germany, and the UK have stated they will not deploy troops to Ukraine.

According to Mr Macron, Western countries are struggling to reach a decision about dispatching their military forces to Ukraine.

The Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, warned of a potential conflict if Nato troops were to enter the area.
The Russian army has advanced into Ukraine recently, and the capital city, Kyiv, is asking for more weapons quickly.

Mr Macron said at a news conference on Monday night that we should consider whether we need security that would require deploying some elements.

“I have already explained to you what France’s position is, which is a strategic ambiguity that I support. “

The French leader spoke in Paris at a meeting to help Ukraine, with leaders from Europe, the US, and Canada also there.

Russian President Vladimir Putin started a big war in Ukraine three years ago. It doesn’t seem like the war will end anytime soon. It’s the biggest war in Europe since World War Two.

Mr Macron’s words made other countries in Europe and Nato say something back.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, thinks that the best way for Ukraine to win is by giving them military aid. This means giving their troops the weapons and ammunition they need to protect themselves.

President Biden said that the US will not send soldiers to Ukraine to fight.

The German leader, Olaf Scholz, said that Europe and Nato have agreed not to send troops to Ukraine. This decision has not changed.

The UK Prime Minister’s spokesperson said the country is not planning to send a lot of soldiers to Ukraine, just a few to help train their forces.

The Italian Prime Minister’s office said that Italy does not support sending troops from European or Nato countries to Ukraine.

Mr Peskov, speaking for the Kremlin, said that Mr Macron’s suggestion is very important, but it does not benefit Nato members.

“He said we would have to talk about how likely a conflict is to happen. “

Before, the leader of Nato, Jens Stoltenberg said they were not thinking about sending soldiers to Ukraine, but they would still help Ukraine even though it’s not in Nato.

Several Nato countries, like Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic, agree with that stance.

Russia has a lot of weapons and a bigger military than Ukraine. Ukraine’s army relies on modern weapons from Western allies, especially the US.

    Reallly intense gathering.

On Tuesday, Mr Biden asked leaders in Congress to agree to a $95bn US aid package. This money includes $60bn for Ukraine. They had a meeting in the Oval Office.

The package is having a hard time in the US House of Representatives. Republican leader Mike Johnson stood firm in the meeting, saying that they need to make more changes to the border before anything else.

Mr Johnson said the problem on the border between Mexico and the US is really important to him. Mr Biden has offered to include changes in the plan, but the Republicans are not agreeing.

Chuck Schumer, who is the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, said that the meeting in the Oval Office was the most intense one he has ever been in.

The US gives the most military aid to Ukraine. They have promised to give$45billion as of January15th,according to the Kiel Institute.

Germany is in second place, giving €17. 7bn of military help. The UK is next, giving €9. 1bn of military aid.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky talked on video during the meeting in Paris on Monday. He said that working together to protect against Russian aggression will make our countries safer for many years.

Macron claims European security depends on Russia’s defeat in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron said it is important for Europe’s safety to stop Russia in Ukraine and Ukraine is asking for more weapons to do so.

During his speech in Paris, he announced that a coalition of European leaders had pledged to provide Ukraine with weaponry capable of reaching both short and long distances.

According to him, the decision to send troops to Ukraine is causing disagreement among people, and weighing all options is important.
Russian soldiers have recently gained more territory in Ukraine, which is struggling to find enough weapons.

Kyiv needs weapons and supplies from the US and other Western countries to keep fighting Russia, which has a much bigger army and lots of ammunition.

The House of Representatives has to agree on giving$95billion in aid, with $61billion of it going to Ukraine. But it’s going to be difficult for them to agree on it.

Over the weekend, Ukraine’s defense minister said that half of the aid from Western countries to Kyiv was late, which has caused the loss of lives and territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin started a big attack on Ukraine three years ago. The war, which is the largest in Europe since World War Two,does not seem like it will end soon.

On Monday, European leaders, like Germany’s Chancellor and the UK’s Foreign Secretary, met to help Ukraine.

Representatives from the US and Canada were also there.

President Macron said that it is important for Europe to defeat Russia for safety and stability.

He called Russia the “main attacker” and said, “We are not fighting with the Russian people. ” We don’t want them to win.

Mr Macron said a group of countries will give Ukraine long-range missiles and bombs to make big attacks. He didn’t say when those weapons will arrive.

He didn’t say no to sending soldiers from Western countries to Ukraine, but he admitted there are disagreements among the allies.

“He said that today, there was no agreement to officially send troops to the ground in any way. ” “But everything should be included in the dynamic. ” We will work hard to make sure Russia doesn’t win this war.

“He said we shouldn’t rule out the possibility that security might require deployment of some elements. ” “I have clearly told you what France’s position is, which is strategic ambiguity and I still support it. “

The Prime Minister of Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, said that his country does not plan to send its troops to fight in Ukraine.

He was responding to comments made by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, who said that some countries are willing to send their soldiers to Ukraine, some countries are not willing to send soldiers, and some countries are still thinking about it.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that working together to defend against Russian aggression makes our nations safer for many years. He said this during a meeting on Monday.

Russia said many times that if Western troops go to Ukraine, it will start a fight between Russia and Nato.

  • Biden certain on military aid deal for Ukraine after approval of $60 billion

Biden certain on military aid deal for Ukraine after approval of $60 billion

Joe Biden has assured the President of Ukraine that $60 billion in military assistance is on its way.

The decision still needs to be approved by Congress, but Mr. Biden told Volodymyr Zelensky that he believes it will pass.

Mr Zelensky asked for more weapons to prevent a very bad situation in Europe.

The US says Ukraine stopped fighting in Avdiivka because they didn’t have enough support from Congress.

Capturing Avdiivka, which is an important entrance to the Russian-seized Donetsk regional capital in the east, is the first significant advancement for Russia since they took control of nearby Bakhmut in May.

“The soldiers in Ukraine had to leave Avdiivka because they didn’t have enough bullets. This happened because the government didn’t take action,” said the White House.

Earlier this week, the US Senate agreed to give $95 billion in foreign aid. This includes $60 billion for Ukraine. It took a long time for this decision to be made because of political disagreements. However, it is still difficult for the bill to pass in the House of Representatives because the Republican Party members cannot agree on it.

“Mr Biden said Ukrainian people have fought bravely and heroically. It’s absurd to walk away when they are running out of ammunition. ”

“I think it’s wrong and goes against our country’s values,” he added. “So I will keep fighting until they have the weapons and resources to defend themselves. ”

The president of Ukraine asked American lawmakers to give the okay for the money help.

“I’m happy that the American president fully supports me,” he wrote on Telegram.

Mr Zelensky went to Germany and asked for more weapons to avoid a very bad situation in Europe.

“He said that by not giving Ukraine enough weapons, especially artillery and long-range weapons, it helps Putin in the current war. ”

“Ukrainians have shown that we can make Russia back off,” he said. “We can reclaim our land. ”

“Don’t ask Ukraine when the fighting will stop. ” Ask yourself, why can Putin still be in charge.

Ukraine needs weapons from the US and other Western countries to fight against Russia, which has a much bigger military and lots of ammunition.

UK’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that if the UK, the EU, and the US help Ukraine, it will really help in their fight against Russia.

In an interview with the BBC, Ukrainian politician Oleksiy Goncharenko said he was disappointed by the American leaders.

“He said that if you can’t trust your partner, because America promised to support Ukraine for as long as necessary, where is that support now. ”

“We are dying every day. ”

Avdiivka has been in a lot of fighting for many months and has been a town where battles have been happening since 2014. Russian-backed fighters took control of large parts of the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The capture of Avdiivka is the most significant event on the front line in over 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) since Russian soldiers took control of Bakhmut in May 2023.

Denis Pushilin, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic, was happy that Russia gained more land.

The city of Avdiivka in Russia’s Donbas region has now gone back to Russia, the mayor announced in a video on Telegram.

“I want to thank the Russian military, our army, and our president for helping us continue to free the Donetsk People’s Republic. This is a big deal for all of us living in Donbas. ”

On Saturday, the leader of the Ukrainian military, Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, said they made the decision to leave early to protect their soldiers from being surrounded and to keep them safe and healthy.

“Our soldiers did their job well in the military. They tried hard to defeat the Russian army and caused a lot of damage to the enemy’s soldiers and equipment,” he said.

  • Putin destroys Ukraine’s healthcare system with devious strategy

Putin destroys Ukraine’s healthcare system with devious strategy

Medical workers in Ukraine joke that Vladimir Putin‘s soldiers see the Red Cross on ambulances as a target.

When Russian tanks entered Ukraine on February 24, 2022, it was clear that the rules of war were ignored, marking a new era in Eastern European history.

The Kremlin is targeting hospitals, medical centers, pharmacies, and paramedics in the conflict.

Every day for the past three years, Ukraine’s health system has been attacked almost two times per day, totaling 1,336 attacks.

The media found nearly 1,000 attacks like this, showing Russia’s plan to ruin important buildings and systems.

The data shows that 699 attacks harmed or ruined hospitals and medical facilities. 75 of these attacks affected hospitals for children and 54 affected hospitals for women’s health.

Meanwhile, 198 people who work in health were attacked and killed, and 137 were hurt.

Canadian volunteer combat medic Brandon Mitchell almost died two times while he was in Ukraine.

His team had to leave a medical checkpoint in Zaporizhzhia because they heard on a captured radio that the Russian military was going to bomb it.

Less than a day later, the center was burned in the attack after escaping from the position.

“Russia knew it was a medical area, so they destroyed it, but we had already left and that’s just usual,” he told Metro. couk

Brandon drove an ambulance through two enemy mines during an evacuation and set off an explosion.

It’s amazing that the 37-year-old person lived. He got very hurt and had to stay in the hospital for six weeks to get better. Until now, the attack still makes him feel very scared and upset.

Before the explosion, the paramedic saved four children, but he still felt bad about it.

‘After I got out of the ambulance, I felt like I had done enough. ‘ Brandon said he doesn’t have to do anything else.

I don’t need to show that I am a man again. I was really afraid that week, it was hard.

Afterwards, I felt bad for feeling relieved and happy, but it’s normal for people to feel that way.

I don’t know how you write that stuff. I’m sorry for using that language, but it’s true.

Russia often waits for 30 minutes after bombing civilians, then attacks again when the first responders arrive.

Just like in the war in Syria, Brandon said that this “double tap” attack is what often causes emergency workers to get killed or hurt.

This is how some of his friends died in the attack at the train station in the city of Kramatorsk in April 2022.

Brandon came to Ukraine not long after the invasion started. He brought help like food, medicine, and other things from Lviv to Kharkiv.

In the end, he joined a group of volunteer medics called the Hospitallers. They help injured Ukrainian soldiers in the war area by giving them first aid and bringing them to safety.

He took a short break from working on the frontline to go to the UK. He toured cities with a bombed ambulance from Kherson that was brought over for the two-year anniversary.

Kateryna Pryimak, who started a group for Ukrainian women veterans, went to London to work with a team of paramedics. She was seen holding a sign that said, “I am a medic from Ukraine and I brought this ambulance that Russia tried to destroy. ” There are many more.

In 2014, when there was a war in eastern Ukraine, she didn’t want to stay at home, so she joined the Hospitallers.

She worked as a paramedic for 11 months in the areas near Donetsk airport that were very hot.

In 2022, when Putin came back strong, she started giving humanitarian help instead.

Kateryna has seen some really scary things during the invasion – like women soldiers carrying grenades to protect themselves from the Russians, and attacks on ambulances carrying injured people.

She said: “We live in a world that your mind can’t understand. ” It’s similar to a video game, like Call of Duty. We are very sad.

As a medic, you can’t do much when big bombs come every 10 minutes. I didn’t have a gun to keep myself safe.

Kateryna remembered a time in 2014 when Russians took a Ukrainian radio and used it to ask for medical help in the east.

When they got there, the enemy soldiers started shooting at them using a strategy that the Russians used a lot during the war.

She said: ‘If soldiers kill all the medics, then nobody will be able to treat Ukrainian troops and civilians. ‘

Russian soldiers are not only attacking the health system, but also arresting and scaring healthcare workers.

People in Ukrainian territories that are controlled by another country have been forced to change their citizenship in order to get medical treatment. This process is called “passportization”.

Hundreds of people attend London Ukraine March for peace

Many people who support Ukraine walked through central London to show that it has been two years since Russia invaded Ukraine.

People met at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park and then walked to Trafalgar Square for a vigil.

Many people were wearing Ukrainian flags and some were holding signs asking Russia to stop the war.

Since February 2022, the UN says that 10,582 people who are not in the military have died in Ukraine because of Russia’s invasion.

As people marched in the streets, some yelled “support Ukraine” and women wore traditional Ukrainian head wreaths.

Nataliia Rusinko left her husband in the UK to fight against Russian forces. She said it was really difficult because she didn’t know how long she would have to be away and had to leave her husband behind.

Anna said that it was difficult to leave because her friends were still there and they were the only friends she had.

A church service for people of different faiths also happened at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London.

The Bishop for Ukrainian Catholics in Great Britain, Reverend Kenneth Nowakowski, said: “Today, we need to focus on two things. ” I hope that the war will end soon, not just with a ceasefire, but with a win and peace with fairness.

The Church said the events in London and the UK on Saturday were very important. They are asking everyone to come together and stand united against aggression from other countries.

In a sad and meaningful gesture, there were 528 paper angels hanging from the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral’s balcony, one for each Ukrainian child who died in the conflict, as reported by Ukrainian authorities.

Many people at the event wore blue and yellow ribbons or sunflowers, which are symbols of peace and strength. Some also held Ukrainian flags.

As of February 20th this year, over 252,600 visas have been given to people from Ukraine in the UK under different programs. Many people have come to London.

Iryna Terlecky from a group that helps Ukrainians who come to a new place, told the BBC, “The people are very emotional. ” Many of them have experienced very painful and difficult experiences.

“Some people had to move inside Ukraine three or four times. ”

Speaking to BBC London, Housing Minister Felicity Buchan said, “Now is the time to show that we will never let tyranny win. We will support Ukraine today and in the future. ”

“We will help Ukraine as much as we can, for as long as they need us. ”

Ms Rusinko said she will always be thankful to the people in the UK for helping Ukraine and allowing refugees to come live there.

Two kids named Sofia and Katia, with their moms, went to the protest. Sofia is nine and Katia is 12.

Sofia told the BBC about the scary time when she had to leave Kyiv, and Katia remembers running away from Kherson when Russian soldiers took control of the city.

At 4am, my mom told me that the war had begun. Katia said, “I was confused and didn’t understand the war, so I didn’t believe it. ”

She put her things in a bag and was told she couldn’t bring her dog.

After some time, she found out that her grandfather was killed, and people said Russian soldiers did it.

Both the girls are in the UK now, and they are thankful to the country for its support.

“While we were in the car, something exploded close to us and I got scared. My mom told me it was just some fireworks. ” After we were safe, she told me that the shelling was from Russia.

Since February 24, 2022, 10,582 people from Ukraine have died and 19,875 have been hurt, according to the UN. The real numbers could be even higher.

  • Zelensky optimistic Ukraine will triumph on its second anniversary

Zelensky optimistic Ukraine will triumph on its second anniversary

The Ukrainian president Zelensky has expressed optimism about his country’s ability to triumph, pointing to the two-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion.

“We won’t let Ukraine be destroyed,” said Volodymyr Zelensky in a speech in Kyiv.

Western leaders stood together with him in a show of support.

Ukraine is having a hard time getting Russia to leave its land, and this is happening around the time of the anniversary.

Mr Zelensky said on Saturday that he wants the war to stop, but it can only be on Ukraine’s terms.

“That’s why we always say ‘end of the war’ on our own terms. ” That’s why we always say ‘peace’ and ‘fair’ together.

We are working hard to achieve it. We have already lived for 730 days. “We will win on the happiest day of our life. ”

The leaders of Italy, Belgium, and Canada, along with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, all met with him in Kyiv.

They placed flower garlands at a wall to remember people who died in the war.

However, some important visitors were missing. None of the older US leaders were there, but last year President Joe Biden came to the anniversary.

Mr Zelensky met with a group of Democratic senators led by Chuck Schumer on Friday. He said this showed that Washington supported Ukraine.

Ms von der Leyen said good things about the Ukrainian soldiers who defended their country at the start of the invasion. They surprised people by being able to resist Russia’s invasion force.

“You stopped Russia from attacking the main part of Ukraine. ” She said, “You protected your country, you protected all of Europe. ”

Italy and Canada said they signed agreements with Kyiv to help Ukraine join Nato. This is good for Ukraine’s safety.

After, the G7 countries – Canada, Italy, the UK and US – promised to help Ukraine and agreed to impose new penalties on Russia during a video meeting.

Marches have happened in Europe to show support for Ukraine. The participants asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war.

At least four people were taken by the police in Moscow on Saturday at a protest against the war. The protest was organized by wives of soldiers who had been called to duty.

Protests like this don’t happen often because there are many laws in Russia that punish people who speak out against the government.

Ukraine is struggling as the anniversary of Russia’s invasion approaches. Just a week ago, it was announced that soldiers had left the fighting town of Avdiivka, which was a big victory for Russia.

Ukraine’s attempt to fight back didn’t work and they are having trouble getting more help from the US. This is a big problem for them.

At the same time, the battle is still going on. At least four people died in the recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Kyiv hit one of Russia’s big steel factories with a drone on Saturday.

Ukraine has won some battles in the war by sinking Russian warships and shooting down spy planes. But President Zelensky’s promised victory still seems a long way off.

  • UK reiterates support for Ukraine on war’s anniversary

UK reiterates support for Ukraine on war’s anniversary

UK leaders have once again promised to help Ukraine two years after Russia invaded them.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak promised to do whatever is necessary and dedicated nearly £250 million to make artillery shells.

King Charles said Ukrainian people are very strong and are facing a lot of difficult times.

It happens one day after the UK said they will punish Russia more.

Mr Sunak, who went to Kyiv recently to make a new security agreement and promise £2. 5bn of military help to Ukraine over the next year, said “we must stay strong and determined” on this “sad anniversary”.

“This is the time to show that we won’t let tyranny win, and to say that we will support Ukraine now and in the future,” he said.

“We are ready to do whatever we need to do, for as long as it takes, until they win. ”

The Defense Secretary, Grant Shapps, said that the UK government is really committed to supporting Ukraine.

He said Ukraine really needs ammunition right now, and Parliament is all in agreement on supporting Ukraine, even if they disagree on other issues.

Mr Shapps said bad things will happen if Western countries don’t help Ukraine. He also said the world won’t be safe unless we stop leaders like Putin.

The leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, said that President Vladimir Putin’s “being scared and cruel” will not win.

Leaders from countries like Canada, Italy, and Belgium, as well as the head of the EU Commission, went to Kyiv to show their support.

Previous leader of the UK, Boris Johnson, also joined them. Mr Johnson said that during his visit to Kyiv, he is confident that the Ukrainians will succeed in getting rid of Putin’s forces.

He said that Ukraine can only do it with the military, political, and economic help they need.

A new package was announced on Saturday. It includes £245m to replenish Kyiv’s artillery ammunition reserves. This is important for Ukraine’s resistance, as there have been shortages of ammunition recently.

Mr Sunak said Ukraine has pushed back the Russian invaders and recaptured half of the land that Putin took, despite facing difficult circumstances.

The Royal Air Force finished delivering anti-tank missiles, as they said they would.

The prime minister said something after the Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron told the United Nations to be careful and not give up.

He spoke at the UN in New York and said we need to understand the consequences of giving up.

Putin said there won’t be peace until Russia reaches its goals.

The leader of another country asked the US Congress to support giving more military help to Ukraine.

The US has given the most weapons and money to Ukraine during the fighting, says the Kiel Institute.

However, a bill that would provide nearly $60 billion in military support may not be approved by Congress because some Republicans in the House of Representatives are against it.

This week, the UK put in place new punishments for people and groups that are supporting Russia’s military. They also targeted six prison leaders after the death of a critic of Russian president Putin and his war in Ukraine.

Although, Sir Keir Starmer is aiming to become the Prime Minister after the upcoming general election this year. He said that the UK will help Kyiv, no matter who is leading the country.

“He said the strength of the Ukrainian people has impressed and touched the world. ”

“The UK and our friends will support them until they win. ”

On Saturday, the First Minister of Scotland, Humza Yousaf, said that Scotland strongly supports Ukraine. He will be joining other political and religious leaders at a service.

He said Ukrainians are fighting for freedom, fairness, and the right for European countries to live together in peace and safety.

The fighting in Ukraine has been at a deadlock for a while now, but it looks like Russia has made some progress lately.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian soldiers left the city of Avdiivka in the east. They had been fighting against a strong Russian attack for four months, even though there were not as many of them and they did not have as many weapons.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is going to talk to leaders from G7 on the computer. He wants countries like the US and UK to give Ukraine more weapons. If they don’t, Russia might feel more confident to do bad things.

More than 50 countries, including the UK, are asking Russia to stop fighting Ukraine and remove all of its military forces and weapons from Ukraine’s territory.

  • Types of weapons Ukraine is using to fight Russia

Types of weapons Ukraine is using to fight Russia

Even before Nato started giving military help to Ukraine, there were stories of bravery in the first weeks of Russia’s big war. This shows that Vladimir Putin won’t win quickly like he wanted to.

No one was as impressive as a grandmother in Kyiv who reportedly took down a drone by throwing a jar of pickles at it, causing it to crash to the ground. It’s not clear if this really happened.

In Ukraine, regular people used Molotov cocktails as a way to fight back when their cities were attacked.

Two years later, the Russian army, which is still powerful despite being damaged, just had a big win in the city of Avdiivka. Ukraine now needs more help from the West.

The Russian warship, the Caesar Kunikov, sank after sea drones attacked it near occupied Crimea. At least 89 enemy soldiers were killed in Makiivka when a building they were in was hit by HIMARS rockets.

Ivan Stupak, a person who helps keep Ukraine safe, said to the media that weapons from the West have helped Ukraine in fighting, but having a lot of them is important.

The specialist explained which weapons have really helped in the conflict.

    First Person View Drones

Russia and Ukraine make many FPV drones every year.

In the beginning of the year, Volodymyr Zelensky said that a new part of the military called the Unmanned Systems Forces will be created just for drones.

Mr Stupak has talked media many times about what his country needs to stop Putin’s aggression, and he always says the same thing: FPV drones.

He says it is one of Ukraine’s best weapons, often used in the Kherson region, because it is cheap and easy to make, costing up to $800.

They have different jobs, like spying and watching, but Mr Stupak said they are usually used together, which Russians don’t like.

“It’s a terrible noise in the sky, Russians are not happy about the buzzing,” he said.

Ukraine’s plan is to use two drones together – one to wait for the enemy’s bus and the other to film what happens.

If the first doesn’t work, the second one will do it.

Mr Stupak said we want to make a lot of drones, up to a million by 2024. Regular people can also build them at home with YouTube videos.

FPV drones from different brands and models can fly up to a mile away. This lets pilots see and gather information, and also launch attacks.

The speed usually goes from 19 to 50 miles per hour, and they fly from a few hundred meters to a mile above the ground. Most of the time, about two out of every three soldiers are killed by the enemy’s gunfire.

    HIMARS
HIMARS stands for High Mobility Artillery Rocket System. It is a mobile rocket launcher that can launch missiles from a vehicle.

Made by an American company called Lockheed Martin, HIMARS is short for High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.

The White House gave 39 rocket-launchers with wheels, and Russian forces have not destroyed any of them yet.

We don’t know the exact cost of the rocket system now, but back in 2014, one unit of HIMARS cost about $5. 1

This is a problem that has been causing trouble for Russians in Ukraine.

A few days ago, a Ukrainian attack near the village of Trudovske in occupied Donetsk killed 63 Russian soldiers who were waiting to meet their commander.

HIMARS can shoot rockets and missiles that can travel up to 186 miles. It is put on a very movable M142 Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) vehicle.

This helps the military move quickly and change position easily, making it more likely to survive and be able to adapt in battle.

Mr Stupak said that unlike old Soviet equipment, HIMARS almost always hits its target on the first try.

    Cluster munitions

Ukraine used cluster munitions from the US to continue their summer offensive, even though they are banned by over 100 countries because of human rights issues.

In August 2023, Ukraine used cluster bombs to free the village of Urozhaine in Donetsk.

Video from a drone showed Russian soldiers leaving while there were at least 12 explosions nearby.

Cluster munitions are big weapons that release lots of smaller bombs.

Mr Stupak said they are usually used against enemy soldiers coming towards them and the small bombs can spread out over an area as big as a football field.

One big problem with cluster bombs is that they can hurt or kill many people without being careful about who they hit.

Submunitions may not explode when they hit the ground, and they can stay there as a danger to people even after a war is over.

Drones that can move in the ocean.

Ukraine’s Sea Baby drones were used for the first time to attack the Russian-built Kerch Bridge in 2022.

Sea drones are different from flying drones. They work in or under the water and have been getting better since the start of the war.

Mr Stupak said they were very advanced but also cost a lot of money.

Some reports say that just the communication system costs around $300,000.

But he said that Ukraine is at an advantage because a sea drone attacked the $300 million Caesar Kunikov in the Black Sea.

‘There was no way to compare.

As Vladimir Putin continues to attack Ukraine for the 2nd year, families have little hope of getting their kidnapped children back soon.

At least 20,000 kids were taken from their homes and brought to other countries where they were hurt, starved, and kept away from their families.

Russia has been accused of taking a lot of children from their families, and people think that the actual number is even bigger.

Maria Lvova-Belova, who works for the Russian government, said proudly that the state has moved 300,000 Ukrainian children from their destroyed homes.

Putin’s forces even attacked orphanages, so now many children are being brainwashed by the Russians without anyone looking for them.

“It will take many years and continue for generations,” said Wayne Jordash, a top prosecutor for war crimes, to Metro.

Mr Jordash spends his time listening to parents who lost their children to Putin’s forces.

He said the stories he hears are really terrible and will always be in his memory.

He said that it’s hard to forget when a parent talks about their missing child.

But the saddest part is when the parents are no longer alive to tell Mr. Jordash about their children on their own.

“I talked to the neighbors to find out what happened to the children who may have been taken to Russia because their parents died in a missile attack,” he said.

‘Sometimes grown-ups talk about their sadness, fear, and worry in a way that is even more surprising than how kids talk about it. ‘

We are still learning about what is happening to children, but it is clear that they are being made to have a military-style education to make them stop feeling at home.

Kids have said they can’t get things they need, and only older kids can tell people what’s going on at home.

The International Criminal Court said that Russia tried to make the children learn new things and threatened to hurt them if they didn’t.

A teenager was told that he would be taken to a boarding school where he would learn and understand everything.

We were sitting in the hall when someone yelled, “Glory to Ukraine. ” Then they were removed from the hall. I don’t know what happened to him.

One mom, Inesda Vertosh, said her son doesn’t want to talk about his time in the camp yet.

“He looks at me and says, ‘Mom, I don’t want to tell you because it would keep you up at night. ‘”

“We are hearing that the kidnapped children are being treated badly. They don’t have enough food, medical care, or love. They know that their families in Ukraine miss them. ”

‘These kids have been very hurt mentally and are scared they won’t see their families again. ‘

Only 300 children who were taken have come back, and it doesn’t seem like more will come back.

In March, the International Criminal Court put out warrants for Putin and Lvova-Belova for moving children unlawfully.

This is the first time a court has issued an arrest warrant for the leader of a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, but bringing them back home is taking a long time.

Many people have forgotten about the children who were taken from their parents. This is one reason why the problem still exists.

Mr Jordash said that the media is not giving enough attention to the terrible crimes and it doesn’t seem like they are treating it with the horror it deserves.

‘There are many bad crimes happening, and people are losing interest because the news is always on. ‘

It’s really important to understand how children can be brainwashed and treated badly by invading forces, especially now with the threat of World War Three hanging over Europe.

In 2017, a report showed that 1,600 children were taken and made to fight by a group called Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

In the early 2000s in northern Uganda, the Lord’s Resistance Army kidnapped children and sexually assaulted them.

Mr Jordash said that taking children is not only happening in Ukraine. Many times in wars during colonial times, we have seen the same thing happen again and again, and it’s dangerous for us.

The Ukrainians are going through a tough time because they are facing the same crimes and horrors. The US Congress is delaying military aid to help them.

  • Ukraine claims to have shot down second Russian A-50 spy jet

Ukraine claims to have shot down second Russian A-50 spy jet

Ukraine says it shot down a Russian military spy plane called A-50. This is the second time they have made this claim in just over a month.

The plane got hit between two Russian cities, over 200km away from where the fighting is happening, according to military sources from Ukraine.

Emergency responders found pieces of a plane near Kanevskoy district and successfully extinguished a large fire.

Russia hasn’t said anything about the statement. This Saturday is the two-year anniversary of Russia starting a big invasion.

Mykola Oleshchuk, the leader of Ukraine’s Air Force, thanked his team and military intelligence for shooting down a plane on Friday. He also mentioned that the incident happened on an important Russian military holiday.

“Happy Defender of the Fatherland Day to all the soldiers,” he said on Telegram.

A video on the internet shows a plane getting shot down in the sky. There were big flames and a lot of dark smoke after the plane crashed.

Krasnodar’s emergency officials said a plane crashed near Trudovaya Armenia village, Kanevskoy district, and a fire was put out later. It didn’t give any more information.

At least one Russian military-related Telegram channel hinted that the plane may have been shot down by accident. Fighterbomber said: “We don’t know who shot it down right now. ”

Ukraine said they shot down an A-50 plane on January 14th.

The UK’s ministry of defence said Russia likely has six working A-50s in use.

The plane finds air defenses and helps Russian jets attack targets. It can cost a lot to make—hundreds of millions of dollars.

Ukraine has been having a hard time making progress against Russian soldiers in the southeast.

Last month, the Ukrainian army said that a plane called Il-22 control centre and another plane called A-50 were destroyed in an incident.

  • Russian pilot “shot dead” in Spain after defecting to Ukraine

Russian pilot “shot dead” in Spain after defecting to Ukraine

A man was shot and killed in Spain. There is speculation that he is the Russian helicopter pilot who traveled to Ukraine last year.

In August, Maxim Kuzminov flew a helicopter into Ukraine and turned himself in.

The Spanish police have not said who the man is, but he was killed near Alicante last week.

But, Ukrainian spies said that Mr Kuzminov died on Monday.

“We confirm that he died,” said a representative to the Ukrainian news outlet Ukrayinska Pravda. He chose to go to Spain instead of staying here.

“He asked his former wife to come with him, and later he was found dead from a gunshot. ”

Spanish police told the media that the person who got hurt might have been living using a fake name.

According to the Spanish news agency Efe, the body of Mr. Kuzminov was found near a house in the town of Villajoyosa on the eastern coast of Spain. His documents matched his nationality, but had a different name on them.

A burned car that might have been used by the attackers was found close to where the crime happened, the intelligence agency’s press service said.

Last year, Mr Kuzminov told the Ukrainian secret service that he wanted to leave and join them.

The “Operation Synytsia” allowed him to fly his Mi-8 helicopter over the border and land it in eastern Ukraine on 9 August.

Two more people on the helicopter didn’t know what Mr. Kuzminov was going to do. They were shot and killed when they tried to run back to the border after the helicopter landed. Kuzminov, who was also shot in the leg, said that the Russian forces were responsible for the killings.

In September, Mr Kuzminov said in a news conference that he changed his mind and joined the other side because he didn’t agree with Russia’s war on Ukraine.

He also said that Ukraine agreed to give him $500,000 (£397,000) in government payments, new documents, and protection for his family.

The Ukrainian government said they gave Mr Kuzminov the chance to stay in Ukraine.

The person in charge of keeping Ukraine safe said that the person would have been safe here. “He said they didn’t behave as badly here as they did in Spain. ”

Russian officials have not made a statement, but Sergei Naryshkin, who runs Russia’s spy agency, called the person a traitor and criminal.

A few months after Mr Kuzminov left, Russian TV showed a man who is supposed to be a Russian spy saying, “I don’t think he will live long enough to go to trial. “

  • Ukraine war: Russia arrests US-Russian woman on suspicion of treason

Ukraine war: Russia arrests US-Russian woman on suspicion of treason

A woman with citizenship in both the US and Russia has been arrested in Russia for allegedly betraying her country and giving money to Ukraine’s army.

The woman from Los Angeles was collecting money for a Ukrainian group that supports the armed forces in Kyiv, according to the Russian security agency FSB.

She was also accused of going to rallies in the US that support Ukraine.

The 33-year-old was held by the police in Yekaterinburg.

The FSB stated that the woman has been gathering money for the Ukrainian organization since February 2022, when Russia began its big military operation in the country.

It said that the money was later used to buy things like medical supplies, equipment, and weapons and bullets for the Ukrainian army.

The video from RIA Novosti, a Russian news agency, showed a woman with her face covered and blurred, walking with a police officer.

She was put in handcuffs and taken to a police car. Then she was taken to a small room in the court and later taken out.

The FSB stated that the woman was working against the safety of our country and was supporting the Ukrainian army while in the US.

Last year in April, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, made a new law that gives a longer jail sentence for treason. This is part of his plan to stop people from speaking against the government.

The FSB arrested a woman in Yekaterinburg, which is 1,600km east of Moscow. This is the same city where US journalist Evan Gershkovich was arrested for spying last year.

Mr Gershkovich, who knows a lot about Russia, was working for the Wall Street Journal at the time.

In January, Russia decided to keep him in jail until the end of March for trial. He could go to prison for up to 20 years if he is proven guilty.

The US government says that the reporter was kept in custody unfairly.

Last week, Mr Putin told US host Tucker Carlson in an interview that he thinks they might be able to make a deal to release Mr Gershkovich.

A few more Americans are currently in jail in Russia. One of them is Paul Whelan, a former marine who has been in prison there since 2018. He was found guilty of spying and has to spend 16 years in prison.

Ukraine war: Attack on Russia’s Belgorod commercial complex close to border

At least five people died in an air attack on the Russian city of Belgorod, according to the governor of the region.

Eighteen people were hurt in the attack near the Ukrainian border.

Videos on social media showed many ambulances outside a shopping center with broken windows.

Russian officials said their defense systems shot down 14 missiles from Ukraine in the Belgorod region.

Russian Zvezda TV, which is connected to the military, reported that one missile hit a shopping center and one landed on the city’s sports stadium.

Belgorod is about 30 kilometers (19 miles) away from the Ukraine border.

Ukrainian forces have been attacking it since Russia invaded Ukraine nearly two years ago.

In December, a drone and rocket attack killed 25 people and hurt 100 others in Belgorod, marking the deadliest attack in the city.

Yesterday, Russia shot 26 missiles at Ukraine. It killed a 66-year-old woman in Chuguyiv, near Kharkiv in the east, and hurt many other people.

At the same time, fighting continues in the eastern town of Avdiivka in Ukraine.

A few Ukrainian soldiers told the media that the town might be taken over very soon. They said they don’t have enough weapons and ammunition.

NATO boss Jen Stoltenberg said Thursday that if the US doesn’t keep helping Ukraine’s military, it will hurt them in fighting.

Avdiivka is an important place because it is a way to get to the city of Donetsk, which is controlled by Russia. It has been active on the front line since 2014 when the fighting in eastern Ukraine began.

  • Ukraine perseveres in destroyed city of Avdiivka despite dire lack of firearms

Ukraine perseveres in destroyed city of Avdiivka despite dire lack of firearms

The man’s hand looked very different and hard to tell what it was. Like a peach that’s been cut and damaged.

“The Ukrainian army surgeon tapped the frozen fingers and said they were as hard as a rock. ”

That morning, he treated the second person with frostbite. He was in a small cottage near Avdiivka, a town under attack in Ukraine, standing next to a table where he did surgeries.

“The surgeon looked sad and said that he will likely lose both of his hands. ”

As Russia has been invading Ukraine for almost two years, the mood among Ukraine’s defenders is getting worse. They are tired, frustrated because they don’t have enough weapons, and they know the war won’t end quickly.

“My friend died today,” a soldier with a beard yelled as he burst into the 47th Brigade’s hidden hospital, swearing and letting in a blast of cold air.

A short time later, two more injured men were brought in through a different entrance for help. Vadym, 48, got hit in the arm by metal pieces while his group was attacking a Russian position in Avdiivka during the morning.

“It’s really difficult,” he said, as the surgeon, a senior lieutenant named Vitalii, came over to check the wound and two army medics removed Vadym’s dirty uniform.

“We don’t have the weapons we need. ”

It’s “The enemy has a lot of different kinds of equipment, while we have almost nothing,” said the other wounded man, 24-year-old Andrii, before showing signs of pain. An explosion from a Russian shell hit his trench while he was sleeping and a piece of shrapnel injured his ankle.

The doctor, Vitalii, worked at a hospital for kids before the war. He was tired as he talked about cutting off people’s arms and legs last year in Ukraine when they tried to fight back against Russia. He also talked about the injuries from pieces of metal that were causing him a lot of pain all the time.

“He said the West should help Ukraine more because if they don’t, their soldiers will have to fight against the evil that has invaded our country. ”

Up north, two big Ukrainian tanks drove on a dirty and snowy country road, then turned and went through another village that was badly damaged. They were heading towards the closest Russian military position, which was about 2km away.

After fighting for many months, the Kremlin’s forces seem like they could soon surround the ruins of Avdiivka. Some Ukrainian soldiers are saying that the town, where some of the worst fighting of the war has happened, could be taken over at any time.

“A Ukrainian soldier named Oleksii from the 110th Mechanised Brigade said that they are very unhappy, while standing next to a big mobile artillery piece and hearing the sound of Russian guns in the distance. ”

The artillery from the Czech Republic can hold and shoot up to 36 shells at once. Last year, it was regularly shooting 80 shells a day at Russian positions near Avdiivka. Not today

“We have two shells right now, but we don’t have any explosives for them, so we can’t shoot them. ” “We don’t have any more shells right now,” Oleksii said. He said that there were not enough of some things in many places, and this was causing big problems for the fighting in Avdiivka.

“We feel very responsible for our soldiers fighting in the town with only assault rifles. It reminds me of earlier in 2022 when there wasn’t enough ammunition and I got hurt. ”

Oleksii said he is afraid there will be a lot of people getting hurt like he saw in the hospital before.

In the hospital, the two injured men were now wrapped in bandages. The man named Vadym wanted to leave, but the doctor said he needed to stay for at least a week.

The doctor, Vitalii, laughed at the thought that some Ukrainian soldiers might be purposely getting frostbite injuries to avoid the terrible conditions on the front lines.

“That’s ridiculous” You must be really really stupid. We don’t have people leaving our group like that, and I’ve never experienced a situation like that. Instead, our fighters are very determined to stay strong,” he said.

The weather is very cold and they have to sit in holes in the ground without a heater when it’s -15 or -20C. If they use a heater, the Russians will be able to see them using special cameras.

  • Russian landing ship Caesar Kunikov sank off coast of Crimea – Ukraine

Russian landing ship Caesar Kunikov sank off coast of Crimea – Ukraine

A large Russian ship called the Caesar Kunikov has sunk near Crimea. Ukraine’s armed forces reported this.

There were loud explosions on Wednesday morning, as per local social media. They said that the ship was hit not far from Yalta town.

Ukraine has attacked Russia’s navy in Crimea several times.

Satellite pictures from last year showed that most of the ships had left the peninsula.

Ukraine’s intelligence agency said on a messaging app that they used Magura V5 naval drones in the attack.

Russia has been at war with Ukraine for almost three years. Ukraine’s military leader says the situation is very difficult.

Last week, Col Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi became the top commander. On Wednesday, he went to the front line after a Russian missile killed three people in Selydove.

Russia’s navy did not confirm that the Caesar Kunikov ship was sunk in the Black Sea. They only said they destroyed six Ukrainian drones. A video showing the aftermath of the Ukrainian attack was recently uploaded and verified by media.

Russian military bloggers acknowledged that their aircraft had been hit, but said that the crew had survived. The Russian military doesn’t often tell about big defeats and Russians listen to just a few popular bloggers for news.

The Caesar Kunikov was made at the end of the Soviet period. If it’s confirmed that the ship has sunk, it would be the second time a ship has been successfully hit in the Black Sea this month. A little ship called Ivanovets was attacked by drones about two weeks ago.

In December, the Novocherkassk, a Russian landing ship, was hit while parked in the port of Feodosiya.

  • US Senate approves a $95 billion aid package for US, Israel, and Ukraine

US Senate approves a $95 billion aid package for US, Israel, and Ukraine

The US Senate has finally agreed to give $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan after arguing about it for a long time.

The Democrats wanted to pass the bill, but the Republicans couldn’t agree and had voted against it before.

The package has $60 billion for Kyiv, $14 billion for Israel’s fight against Hamas, and $10 billion for help in places where there is war, like Gaza.

The bill will now go to the House, where we don’t know what will happen to it.

The package passed the Senate even though some Republicans, like House Speaker Mike Johnson and former President Donald Trump, criticized it. It also includes over $4bn for Indo-Pacific allies.

Lawmakers said yes to the package with a vote of 70 to 29. In the end, 22 Republicans and most of the Democrats voted for the law, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“MrMcConnell said that history will make things clear,” in a statement after the vote. “Today, history will remember that the Senate did not waver in its belief in the importance of American leadership and strength. ”

The president of Ukraine thanked the senators for passing it.

“In Ukraine, the help we get from the US keeps people safe from Russian attacks and saves lives. ” This means that life will keep going in our cities and will win over war. This was written by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on X, also known as Twitter.

The vote happened after the Senate stayed up all night and some Republicans made speeches against the measure.

The group of right-wing Republicans led by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky promised to delay the process, so it took a long time to think about the bill.

“Shouldn’t we focus on fixing our own country before anything else. ” he said in a long speech to delay the bill from being passed.

Some lawmakers who want positive change, like Jeff Merkley from Oregon and Bernie Sanders from Vermont, voted against the bill because they are worried about supporting Israel’s bombing of Gaza.

The aid package is a smaller version of a $118 billion package that Senate Republicans rejected last week.

Republicans first wanted to make sure that any help given to other countries was connected to making the southern border more secure. However, after Mr. Trump opposed the plan, Republicans could not agree on whether to support it.

Some lawmakers want to put border security back into the current version of the law.

MrJ ohnson said on Monday night that the Republican-controlled House wouldn’t approve the new bill without those rules.

“The Republicans in the House said right away that any national security law must focus on our border security,” he said.

Mr Johnson said that the lawmakers need to start over and work on the law to make sure the border is secure.

Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, who leads the majority in the Senate, praised the approval of the bill on Tuesday. He said the Senate was warning Putin that he will be sorry for doubting America’s determination.

The US gives a lot of help to Ukraine. The White House requested Congress to pass a bill with foreign aid a few months ago.

This might be the last chance for Congress to give Ukraine help. Ukraine says it might not be able to fight off Russia without support from the United States.

Cambridge to welcome student from Ukraine to study maths

A 17-year-old student from Kent, who is from Ukraine, got accepted to study math at the University of Cambridge.

David came to Kent two years ago because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He has been studying at Skinners School in Tunbridge Wells since then.

He told media in the South East that he thought he was good at math, so he applied. I thought I had an equal chance of getting in.

David’s math teacher said he was the best student he had ever taught.

“Laurence Satow, who has been a teacher for 30 years, said: “He is the best student I have ever taught. ” Success is certain.

The school’s principal, Ed Wesson, said: “He has worked really hard and fit in well, especially considering he couldn’t speak the language when he first started. ”

“I am very impressed and fascinated by his talent. ”

David’s mom remembered: “He always liked numbers, not pictures. ” He enjoyed numbers since he was little.

He will start studying at Cambridge in the fall.
