    Police arrived shortly afterward and have promised to launch a full-scale investigation into the incident.

    A container truck lost control and veered off its lane near the Dzorwulu traffic light, close to the Allied Filling Station, on Thursday morning.

    Eyewitnesses reported to Adomonline.com that the driver blamed the incident on a brake failure.

    The truck collided with a streetlight, crossed into the opposite lane, and eventually came to a halt after smashing into a fence at a nearby garage.

    Although no casualties were reported, the accident left at least three parked vehicles damaged, with shattered windows and other visible harm.

    As of the time of reporting, authorities had not yet arrived at the scene, which remained disorganized.

A private vehicle was also caught in the incident. Eyewitnesses, whose voices can be heard in the footage, confirmed that the truck driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

    Reactions on X have sparked concerns about the role of the police in ensuring that only roadworthy vehicles are allowed on the roads.

    One user wrote, “The load was obviously too much for the truck. Why do they keep allowing this, and why doesn’t the police intervene when they see these cars? It’s dangerous, and now someone has lost their life because of it.”

    Battery of govt’s DRIP tipper truck gone missing

    A battery from a tipper truck, which is part of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), was stolen by unknown individuals in Konongo, located in the Asante Akim Central Municipality.

    The DRIP equipment had been stationed at the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly premises while authorities awaited the completion of operator training.

    During a routine check on Thursday, officials were alarmed to find that the battery of the tipper truck had been stolen. Assembly officials promptly reported the theft to the police.

    Municipal Chief Executive Robert Yaw Kwaakye condemned the incident, warning that such acts could hinder government initiatives. He also announced that the Assembly would increase surveillance to protect the equipment.

    Police in Konongo have launched an investigation into the theft.

    The incident occurred after the bus they were travelling in crashed and overturned.

    According to reports, the driver handed the steering wheel to his mate early Friday morning.

    The mate then lost control when the bus struck a speed ramp, causing it to overturn.

    Adam Iddrisu Emmanuel, a passenger recounted “This morning when we were coming from Kumasi to Bawku when we got here, the driver applied the brake and actually I don’t know what happened and the car, it is like it [lost] balance so it came and hit the bridge.”

    “We loaded at Kumasi at Adehyeman near Kejetia and we were going to Garu.”

    A severe accident on the Kasoa-Winneba highway near Gomoa Buduatta Junction in the Gomoa East District left three people critically injured.

    The crash involved a container trailer with registration number GE 8891-18 heading to Takoradi and a tipper truck with registration number GN 2314-21 traveling toward Kasoa.

    The injured include the driver of the tipper truck and two passengers. The accident happened around 1:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024.

    Preliminary reports suggest the tipper truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the collision.

    Upon reaching the Buduatta Goil Filling Station, the tipper truck veered out of its lane and crashed into the trailer truck.

    The injured individuals were rushed to St. Gregory Hospital for treatment.

    The truck, experiencing brake failure, collided with a Toyota Corolla taxi cab registered as GW 5088-11.

    The collision happened when the truck driver lost control while approaching a section of the road at Amangoase, resulting in the taxi cab, with passengers on board, narrowly escaping harm.

    Fortunately, the quick reflexes of taxi driver Bernard Nsiah prevented injuries to passengers, though the taxi sustained significant damage.

    An eyewitness told the media that the truck driver, upon losing control, shouted to warn drivers behind him.

    Mr. Tsikata noted, “the traffic situation will worsen as we get into the day because even if the truck is towed, they will still have to manually clear the things from the road and that will delay people using the stretch.”

    The morning rainfall is anticipated to exacerbate the traffic situation, a common occurrence during rainy weather.

    A 10-year-old hawker, known as Hawa, met a tragic end when a tipper truck, identified by its registration number GM 2312 – 21, struck her in Mankessim within the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

    Reports indicate that Hawa was attempting to cross the Mankessim to Cape Coast Highway when the accident occurred.

    Sadly, she lost her life in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2024.

    Hawa, who was selling mangoes at the time, was swiftly taken to the Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital in Mankessim.

    Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival, and her body has been transferred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary.

    In light of the incident, authorities have detained the truck driver to aid in the investigation.

    Concerned residents are urging the Highway Authority to implement measures, such as installing speed ramps, to address the growing concerns over road safety in the area.

    GNFS officers save driver trapped in truck after accident at Agogo Junction

    In a swift response to a distress call on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, officers from the Konongo Fire Station rescued a driver trapped in a truck after a head-to-rear-end collision at Agogo Junction, Konongo.

    The accident involved a Kia Rhino Truck (BW 164-20) and a MAN Diesel Truck (GT 7613-10), with the latter’s rear remaining undamaged.

    The rescue team arrived at the scene promptly at 16:53 hours and executed a tactful rescue operation.

    They successfully extricated and transported the trapped and injured driver, Yahya Ouatarra, to the Konongo Government Hospital for urgent medical attention.

    Ouatarra’s conductor, who also suffered injuries, was earlier assisted out of their partially mangled Kia Truck’s head before the arrival of the rescue crew.

    The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The rapid response and efficient rescue efforts led by STNO II Odjer Jonathan of the GNFS received praise.

    A video capturing the moment a Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train collided with a parked Hyundai truck on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line has surfaced.

    The incident, which occurred on Thursday, April 18, shows the train cruising along the railway line around 12:09 pm.

    As the train rounded a curve at around 12:10 pm, it encountered the Hyundai truck blocking the track.

    Despite attempts to stop, the train crashed into the abandoned truck at around 12:11 pm, dragging it along the railway line before coming to a halt.

    The driver of the vehicle, Abel Dzidotor, 41, was arrested and has been sentenced to six months in prison for his role in the accident.

    Abel Dzidotor could face further penalties if he fails to produce his driver’s license as ordered by the court.

    Truck driver involved in new train accident sentenced to 6 months imprisonment

    The driver allegedly responsible for the recent train incident involving a newly imported train from Poland, Abel Dzidotor, has been sentenced to six months in prison.

    Reportedly, Mr Dzidotor confessed to three of the four charges brought against him, including careless driving and causing unlawful damage.

    The initial charge was for reckless driving, a breach of Section 3 of the RTA Act 683 (2004), amended by Act 761 of 2008. Dzidotor admitted guilt and was fined 100 penalty units, equivalent to a potential 20-month jail term if not paid.

    The second charge was for unauthorized stopping, a violation of Section 19 of Act 683 of 2004, amended by Act 761 of 2008. Dzidotor confessed and received a sentence of 20 penalty units, or a five-month prison term if unpaid.

    The third charge was for causing unlawful damage, contrary to section 172b of Act 2960. Mr Dzidotor admitted guilt and received a six-month hard labor sentence.

    The fourth charge was for failure to produce a driver’s license, contrary to regulation 47(2) of LI 21(80). MrDzidotor pleaded not guilty, stating that his license was in the damaged vehicle.

    He has been ordered to present the license to the court by May 9, 2024, or face potential consequences.

    The Ghana Police Service apprehended the driver of the Hyundai truck with registration number GS 9018 – 20 for allegedly causing the accident involving the newly imported train on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line on Thursday.

    The newly imported train from Poland was involved in an accident during a test run.

    According to a statement by the Police, their preliminary investigation revealed that the driver left the vehicle unattended on the railway line, resulting in a collision with the train.

    The truck driver purportedly went to deliver cement blocks when the truck became stuck on the rail after he failed to utilize a pass-through under the bridge.

    On Monday, January 15, 2024, enraged residents of Sabronum, Ashanti Region took matters into their own hands, blocking and setting a truck ablaze amid suspicions that it was transporting an excavator for illegal mining within a forest reserve.

    Allegedly supported by unidentified individuals with local authority backing, the excavator was brought to the forest, causing alarm among residents who feared potential illegal mining activities.

    Resisting the truck’s departure, the residents obstructed its path and set it on fire as a form of protest, expressing their determination to oppose any unlawful mining activities in the area.

    During the confrontation in Sabronum, an individual named Bismarck Ankamaah reportedly faced an attack, sustaining severe machete wounds. He was accused by alleged thugs of inciting the arson against the truck transporting the excavator to the forest reserve.

    Ankamaah, who suffered injuries to his leg, arm, and back, recounted the incident, stating that he received an announcement from the Assembly Member at around 2 am on Monday about the arrival of an excavator for mining purposes. As the truck arrived, residents gathered and blocked the road, leading to the subsequent incident.

    “I was threatened by one of them. I later realized the vehicle was set ablaze, then my wife asked me to get my kids from her mother’s room. While at my wife’s shop, the thugs known as A Thousand Robbers pounced on me. As I struggled with them, they used machetes and sticks to beat me up and inflicted wounds on me,” Ankamaah explained.

    The residents expressed concerns about potential pollution of a crucial water source for domestic and irrigation needs if illegal mining persists. They issued a warning of decisive action if the excavator remains within the community.

    Despite government efforts, illegal mining continues to pose challenges in the Ano South East District, creating tension in the area, which is currently deemed tense.

    A pedestrian has been killed at Assin Fosu Masalakyi “Roud About” by an articulated truck filled with hardwood boards.

    According to eyewitnesses, the long vehicle with registration number, AS 5942-10 which was moving at a high speed, fell on its side after taking a sharp curve on the Assin Fosu N8 highway.

    The wooden load in the vehicle, fell on a man who was using the pedestrian walk way, killing him on the spot.

    The body of the victim which has been sent to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital morgue by a joint team from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police command in Assin Fosu.

    The driver of the accident vehicle whose name is currently unknown, has been picked up by the police to avoid a possible mob attack and also help in Police investigation.

    A video has emerged on social media of a trailer truck burning to ashes on the Accra-Tema Motorway.

    The video, shared by UTV on its Twitter handle, shows the truck abandoned on the inner edges of one side of the Motorway, while the fire blazed uncontrollably.

    It is unclear what may have caused the fire and as seen in the video, there were no first responders on sight.

    Traffic on that stretch of the road was however moving at a slow pace.
