  • NDC summons Atubiga over Eugene Arhin comment

The opposition National Democratic Congress has summoned its member Stephen Atubiga over comments he made over the alleged properties owned by presidential spokesperson Eugene Arhin.

Mr Atubiga is said to have defended the alleged wealth gathered by the presidential staffer over the last four years.

The party in a letter summoning him said his comments were inconsistent with its values.

“I write in respect of a news item captioned “Only Useless Politicians Retire Poor”, published on Ghanaweb on Saturday the 13th of February, 2021, which was attributed to you. The report indicated that you have allegedly chided Ghanaians criticizing Eugene Arhin of the NPP for amassing wealth in the space of four years. Excerpts from the statements you are alleged to have made include:

” “It is wise that as an individual working, there is the need to amass wealth so you can give back to your parents and society for contributions made to your upbringing” 2. “It is only a politician who led a wayward life who will retire poor”, the summons letter said.

It added: “FEC finds the above statements unfortunate, especially when they are not consistent with the very principles on which the NDC is founded. Consequently, you are invited to meet FEC on Wednesday the 24th of February, 2021 at the Party Head Office, Adabralca at 2:30pm, to explain to FEC why disciplinary actions should not be taken against you”.

Meanwhile, Mr Arhin’s wife has since reversed initial claims she made against her husband, presenting revised documents before the divorce court.,

  • Arrest Stephen Atubiga immediately – security analyst tells police

A Security Analyst is calling for the immediate arrest of Stephen Atubiga for declaring intentions to cause chaos in the country.

Stephen Atubiga according to a news report has said that the National Democratic Congress will be left with no option than to cause commotion in Ghana if their Flagbearer, John Mahama is invited for investigations on the Airbus scandal.

His comments followed pressure and calls by proponents of government for the former President John Mahama to speak on the Airbus saga.

But in an interview on Daybreak Upper East on A1 Radio,Dr.Kwesi Biney said his comments were a security threat which have the potential of causing mayhem.

Dr. Biney has therefore called on the security services not to entertain political distasteful comments to go unpunished.

“Yesterday I read Atubiga making such a derogatory statement which is very sad that if should there be anytime in this country that Mahama the former President is called, will be called or shall be called after the Special Prosecutor might have gathered all the intelligence as the President told him to be in tune with the UK counterparts to gather everything and anybody involved must be brought to book ,Atubiga was saying yesterday if anytime that the President will be invited they will turn the country upside down, they will make it ungovernable”

“What kind of statement is that? Such a person must be arrested immediately because such a statement is a security threat. He must be arrested and interrogated” he stated.

  • Airbus Scandal: Inviting Mahama to answer questions will bring chaos – Atubiga

A failed presidential aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Stephen Atubiga, has threatened that there will be chaos in Ghana if any institution invites Mahama to answer to queries about his involvement in the Airbus saga.

“It is a decision taken by the party that Mahama will not honor any invitation on Airbus, put me on record” Atubiga warned on Neat FM on Monday, 2nd March 2020.

He emphasized that the party has directed that under no circumstances will Mahama speak on the Airbus scandal because the party sees it as a politically motivated agenda and smear campaign against Mahama.

“Any judge who sits on such a case will vanish” he threatened.

“This country will turn upside down if even a letter is sent to John Dramani Mahama on the Airbus matter” Atubiga added while speaking on the Ghana Montie show with Mac-Jerry Osei.

Despite the best efforts of the host to get Atubiga to be mindful of his utterances, the NDC’s activist insisted he should be put on record that Ghana would be ungovernable if the party’s candidate is summoned before any fact finding committee.
