    This is how a soldier was shot, killed at Kasoa


    An eyewitness recounted the events leading to the fatal shooting of a soldier at Millennium City, Kasoa, situated in the Central Region.

    Identified as Ndego, the man informed journalists at the scene that he had sold a parcel of land to the deceased and two other soldiers.

    “It was one Samed who came to purchase the land for his brother who is a soldier. They (three soldiers) promised to visit their land today (April 30), we met other people working on the said parcel when we arrived.

    “One guy called Fiifi who was overseeing the work said he won’t stop work on the land or sit for mediation. The soldiers said they would rather go to the police station over the disagreement and Fiifi said he would go along in that case.

    He further elaborated that Fiifi, overseeing the work, refused to halt the activities or engage in mediation. Instead, he insisted on proceeding with the work. In response, the soldiers opted to resolve the dispute at the police station, to which Fiifi agreed to accompany them.

    Ndego continued, stating that as they prepared to depart the site, Benlord (the alleged shooter) arrived and threatened him before instructing his associates to assault him.

    “When the soldiers were about leaving to the regional police command to follow up on their complaint, Benlord went to stand in front of the car and fired a direct shot at the vehicle,” Ndego added.

    Meanwhile, the police have provided details on the incident, including the apprehension of a suspect.

    In a statement issued on May 1, 2024, it was revealed that the incident occurred on April 30, 2024, around 4:20 pm. The suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, allegedly discharged shots, critically injuring the soldier.

    Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa, the soldier succumbed to his wounds.

    “Preliminary Police investigation has established that the suspect, Benlord Ababio, allegedly shot the soldier at Millennium City, Kasoa, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at about 4:20 pm.

    “The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Kasoa for medical attention. However, he was later pronounced dead by the medical authorities.

    “Suspect Benlord Ababio is currently in custody assisting Police investigation. The leadership of the Police Service is in touch with the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces as the investigation into the incident continues,” the statement continued.

    The police have assured the public of timely updates as the investigation proceeds.

    Unknown assailants have shot and killed a suspected armed robber, Baba Mohammed, whose lifeless body was later found at Kasoa High Tension in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Central Region.

    The incident occurred at dawn on Thursday, February 8, 2025.According to reports from Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the deceased, with multiple bullet wounds, was abandoned by an unidentified taxi cab.

    Residents who found the body in a pool believe he might have been involved in an armed robbery, resulting in the fatal shooting.

    Promptly, the police from Kasoa Divisional Police Command transported the injured suspect to Kasoa Polyclinic for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival.

    The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the deceased’s body has been deposited at the mortuary.

    A hotel owner Kwasi Amankwaa, widely known as Rasta, has reportedly been fatally shot in Mallam Kokroko, located in the Greater Accra region.

    The sad incident is said to have occurred on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

    According to an eyewitness account shared with Adom News, the assailant allegedly threatened Mr Amankwaa, stating, “If you move, I will shoot.” 

    Shortly after, gunshots were heard, and upon reaching the scene, the eyewitness discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Amankwaa, while the perpetrator had already fled.

    Residents in the area have voiced suspicions regarding the involvement of a Canadian woman engaged in a legal dispute with the deceased over ownership of the hotel. 

    It is alleged that tensions between the parties involved in the legal battle may have escalated, culminating in this tragic incident.

    As of now, the police have not yet arrived at the scene to commence investigations into the matter. 

    The shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting concerns about security and safety in the area.

    The untimely demise of Kwasi Amankwaa has left his family, friends, and the local community in mourning. 

    Calls for swift action from law enforcement authorities to apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice for the victim have grown louder in the wake of this disturbing incident.

    Unknown individual shoots National Service person to death in Nkwanta

    A tragic incident has occurred in Nkwanta, Oti Region, where a National Service person named Gowugade Denis was fatally shot while on his farm with his family.

    The assailant remains unidentified, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the crime.

    Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, Bright Lenwah, expressed his sorrow over the incident and stated that authorities are actively working to reassess and modify their strategies to prevent such incidents in the area.

    In a related development, reports indicate that agitated youth, previously involved in protesting the deaths of two youngsters at the office and residence of Kadjebi District Chief Executive Wilson Agbanyo, have allegedly vandalized the COCOBOD office at Papase in the Oti Region.

    Former NDC Vice Chair in Upper East region shot dead by unknown gunmen

    A former Upper East regional vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was fatally shot by unidentified attackers, as reported by Accra-based Asaase Radio.

    The victim, Williams Akanyele, was killed at his residence in Nabango, situated in the Kassena-Nankana West district of the region. He was discovered in his room on Thursday morning, with gunshot wounds to his neck and abdomen, according to the Asaase Radio report.

    The incident occurred Wednesday night and is suspected to be an assassination related to an ongoing chieftaincy dispute. Regional police, under the leadership of DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey, have launched an investigation into the matter.

    A similar episode unfolded in late August, where three out of seven assailants attempting to attack the NDC constituency chairman for Binduri were killed. The attackers besieged the chairman’s residence and fired indiscriminately, prompting community members to come to his aid.

    During the confrontation, three assailants were fatally injured. One of them died on the scene, while the others fled and later succumbed to their injuries in different locations.

    According to a report from TV3, the deceased assailants were identified as Nashiru Razak, 32, Abdul Bashid, 23, and Muniru Bashiru, 22, hailing from Sagabo, Patrame, and Pusum in the Bawku municipality. DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey, the Upper East Regional Police Commander, and his team visited the crime scene in Bazwa to gather information about the attack.

    Unknown gunman opens fire in Wa East, kills one

    One person dead and several others injured after unknown man opened fire at the Wa East District of the Upper West Region.

    According to reports, the residents effected an arrest of an unknown man, who was armed, in the area. But suddenly other armed men emerged from the bushes and opened fire on the gathered residents.

    The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday, April 2.

    The victims were all taken to the Wa Regional Hospital, where the survivors are responding to treatment.

    Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency Godfred Seidu Jasaw confirmed the incident but said information is “sketchy”.

    Speaking on Midday News on 3FM on Wednesday, April 5, Mr Seidu Jasaw said relative calm has returned to the area, according to the Assembly member he talked to.

    He said the matter has been reported to the Upper West Regional Police Command, which is now handling the case.

    A manhunt to arrest the gunmen has been launched.

    “The police in Wa municipality were alerted and they got on to the scene but the activities had taken place and the assailants had left.

    “At the moment, my information is that the case has been reported to the regional police CID.”

    There are suspicions that the case may be as a result of simmering chieftaincy and land disputes.

    The MP also said some residents suspect the assailants may be galamseyers who are trying to assert their control of the area.

    Reports say the shooters fled after shooting him “five times.”

    According to some reports, AKA was the only person shot during the drive-by incident.

    A video of the attack scene is going viral on social media.

    The scene shows paramedics around a figure covered on a pavement.

    The scene is cordoned with a screen.

    Meanwhile, it is yet to be confirmed whether the rapper survived the attack.

    The incident happened in Monterey Park, located about eight miles (13km) east of Los Angeles, after 22:00 local time on Saturday (06:00 GMT on Sunday).

    Thousands of people had earlier gathered in the city for the Monterey Park Lunar New Year festival.

    It is not clear yet how many people were shot or whether anyone has died.

    Videos on social media showed a large police presence in the area.

    The annual Lunar New Year festival is a weekend-long event that has previously drawn crowds of more than 100,000 visitors.

    Saturday night’s festivities were scheduled to end at 21:00 local time.

    Nigerian Catholic priest shot dead by gunmen

    Armed men have shot and killed a Catholic priest at his church in Kafin Koro, northern Nigeria, leaving his rectory set on fire.

    The body of Father Isaac Achi was found in the charred ruins of the building.

    Another priest, Father Collins Omeh, was shot as he tried to escape the blaze and subsequently taken to hospital.

    He told local reporters that Father Achi was shot dead by the gunmen, who he said were shouting jihadi slogans.

    In a separate incident, a gang in the north-western state of Katsina kidnapped at least five people as they prepared for a church service.

    A 35-year-old Assistant Headteacher of Ekumfi Akra Methodist Basic School in the Central Region, Shadrach Frimpong has been shot while easing himself in a bush near the Teachers Bangalow which has no toilet facility.

    The incident happened on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 around 5:30am.

    Bullets fired missed him by a whisker and rather hit a tree infront of him saving the victim from being shot dead instantly.

    The bullets, however, ricocheted and hit his left eye and hand.

    He was rushed to the Mankessim Roman Hospital for treatment by some teachers who heard him screaming for help and went to his aid.

    The father of the victim, Richard Anaman in an interview with Kasapa News, suspects the assailant had tried killing his son for canning a student.

    He revealed that his son had a misunderstanding recently with some parents for canning a student for misconduct but the issue has been settled.

    The case has been reported to the Ekumfi Essiohyia Police for an investigation.

    A man believed to be in his late 50s has been shot dead and dumped at a construction site at the Gomoa Ojobi Estate in the Gomoa East District in the Central region.

    Preliminary investigation by the Assemblyman indicates the man was allegedly shot in his jaw, with some body parts missing. The Assemblyman suspects that the parts may have been removed for rituals.

    According to the reports gathered, the deceased may have been intentionally shot dead by the land guards in the area.

    The residents claim they are living in fear and panic and have called on the Inspector General of Police to deploy personals in Kasoa and its environment to protect them.

    In an interview with EIB News Yaw Boagyan, the Assemblyman for Gomoa Ojobi/ Akotsi electoral area Geoffrey Panin Nkum said the body has been conveyed to Police Hospital while Police is conducting investigations into the matter.

    The Chief Executive Officer of Sky Petroleum filling station at Asuadei in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti region, Alhaji Abubakar Sadick, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.

    The incident occurred on Wednesday, 28 October 2020 around 5:00pm.

    The four unmasked men stormed the fueling station with pump action guns, according to a worker of the company, name only given as Eric, who narrated the incident.

    He said the deceased together with him struggled with the armed men before he was shot dead.

    The gun wielded men, he said, made away with only GHS350 sales they had done for the day.

    The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Mankranso government hospital morgue for preservation.

    Superintendent Richard Boahen, the District Police Commander, said investigations have commenced into the crime.

    District Chief Executive for the area who doubles as the Chairman of the District Security Council, Joseph Agyemang Dapaah, said emergency security meeting will be held on the incident.

    He bemoaned the inadequate number of police officers in the district.

  • Printing press owner shot by unknown assailants

    A 29-year-old printing press owner is currently battling for his life at the Bole District Hospital after he sustained gunshots wounds from three unknown assailants at his home at Bole in the Savannah region.

    Kanodia Haruna, family sources say was allegedly shot several times on his arm just after he returned home from work in the early on Wednesday.

    The victim had walked home in the company of his wife and a mobile money merchant, Joy News Isaac Nongya reports.

    But upon reaching home, three unknown assailants onboard a motorbike appeared from nowhere and opened fired on Mr Haruna before snatching and bolting away with his wife’s handbag.

    Bole police are yet to comment on the matter as doctors are seriously working on him to remove all the bullets.

    Philadelphia police say it’s “miraculous” that a man shot 16 times was able to walk into the hospital two miles away.

    Early Friday morning, the 27-year-old was wounded in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. Police say it’s unclear why he was shot so many times. They haven’t been able to interview him yet.

    Investigators found large caliber shell casings at the scene.

    Philadelphia Police Department spokesman Sgt. Eric Gripp told CNN the man was shot:

    -five times on his right side;
    -two times in his left hip;
    -three times in his upper chest;
    -once in his right shoulder;
    -once in the right side of his neck;
    -three times on his left forearm;
    -and once on his right forearm.

    Police are not identifying the man who somehow made it to Temple University Hospital and admitted himself.
    “For him to be hit that many times throughout his body … even though he’s critical, he’s expected to survive,” Chief Inspector Scott Small said. “That’s pretty miraculous.”
    Police told CNN that he was in critical but stable and was undergoing surgery.
