Persons who engage in gold trading without Goldbod licenses will be prosecuted – Sammy Gyamfi

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Goldbod, Mr Sammy Gyamfi (Esq.) has stressed that persons who engage in gold trading without Goldbod licenses after June 21 will be prosecuted.

He stressed this during a meeting with the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers.

“As we have announced, by the 21st of this month, we shall ensure that only holders of Goldbod licenses are able to buy gold, and so if you are not licensed by the GoldBod, you cannot buy gold after June 21st. It will constitute a punishable offense to do so.”

Mr Gyamfi urged the gold buyers to forge partnerships that will boost compliance with the new GoldBod licensing regime.

The acting CEO noted that the process for registering has been made seamless and is devoid of corruption.

“We have removed the human interface element and so there is no corruption, bribery, inducements, or favoritism. It is a very transparent and competitive process and once you qualify, you get the license. I don’t take or demand bribes before I issue license.”

The Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod) has, for the umpteenth time, extended the deadline for gold traders with outdated licences to reapply under its new regulatory framework .

The May 21 deadline, which was reported to be the final extension, has been extended to June 21 following concerns by stakeholders.

According to Mr Gyamfi, “this new deadline is not extendable.”

The use of a license issued by the defunct PMMC and/or the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to deal in gold is prohibited beyond the new non-extendable deadline of June 21.

A breach of this directive shall constitute a punishable offense under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (ACT 1140).

Under the new Ghana Gold Board Act, all previously issued licences for gold trading have been rendered void. Traders who wish to stay in business must submit fresh applications via the Goldbod website.

Applicants have been advised to pay attention to detail when filling out the forms, as inaccuracies could lead to disqualification.

“If you make serious omissions or errors in the application, it will go against you in terms of the decision that the Gold Board will take on that application,” Mr. Gyamfi warned.

Goldbod will oversee the gold sector, tackle illegal trade, and promote responsible sourcing in line with global standards such as the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) certification.

The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has established the newly constituted Board of Directors of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

Dr Forson extended President John Dramani Mahama’s congratulations to the 13-member board led by Mr Kojo Fynn.

The sector minister also called on the board to deliver their mandate and enhance the country’s gold trade, ensure transparency in dealing, and aid the government’s economic recovery efforts.

GoldBod has no ties with SML – Sammy Gyamfi

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has stated that there is no binding agreement between the organization and the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Recent reports suggest that the SML had commenced new operations in Ghana’s upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors despite its license being revoked.

However, in a Facebook post on Thursday, May 15, GoldBod urged the public to disregard such claims as they are “false”.

“Fake news alert: The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has no dealings, contract, partnership or relationship whatsoever with SML.

“Any such claim is completely false and should be treated with utmost contempt,” he wrote.

The GoldBod’s clarification comes a day after the country’s revenue arm, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), noted that it has not granted permission to expand its revenue to cover the country’s upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.

The GRA emphasized that the SML is still under supervision, GRA in 2024, discontinued two contract transactions (the Audit and External Verification Service Contract (AEVS) with SML, as well as halting portions of the contract agreement.

The GRA also suspended the SML’s Upstream Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Audit until further notice.

The suspension comes after the then-President, Akufo-Addo received an audit report from KPMG against SML’s deals.

  • The problem is not Sammy Gyamfi, it’s Agradaa – DKB

The problem is not Sammy Gyamfi, it’s Agradaa – DKB

Popular comedian Derick Kobina Bonney, alias DKB has shared his opinion on the ongoing Sammy Gyamfi-Agradaa dollar controversey, stating that Ghanaians are reacting furiously over the matter because Agradaa is involved.

According to him, netizens have no problem with Sammy Gyamfi’s act of giving but the individual he gave to.

This is due to several attacks that were leveled against memebers of the National Democratic Congress during their time in opposition.

Thus, the party’s foot soldiers are asserting that Agradaa is not deserving of Sammy Gyamfi’s kindness when loyal party members are struggling.

“Look, I think the main reason why Ghanaians are angry is not because Sammy Gyamfi gave our dollar to anybody. It is because it was Agradaa, and the fact that he associated with Agradaa. Because we witnessed what she did to John Mahama’s name…she desecrated it…and the fact that he is not going to come to power and all those negative things. So it hurts to see NDC people see Sammy Gyamfi give money to such a person.”

He added that: “No bad intentions anyway. I mean, if you are a foot soldier, you have worked hard for the party and are waiting for an appointment or something. The amount of money he gave her could start your business. You won’t be happy with that. You understand me? So it is because it is Agradaa…If it were someone else, it would have been an easy case. Because the painful thing is that they have given Agradaa the dollars you wish you had. And she is not the type who will keep quiet. She will bluff you with the money, too.”

Meanwhile, there have been growing calls for Sammy Gyamfi to be penalized or removed from office following the viral video incident.

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have publicly demaded his dismissal, citing concerns over the image and intergrity of public office .

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has invited him for questioning and many Ghanaians are closely watching to see what disciplinary actions, if any, will be taken against the Ghana Gold Board CEO.

You failed to show a sense of responsibility and focus – KSM tells Sammy Gyamfi

Renowned Ghanaian comedian and social commentator Kwaku Sintim-Misa, popularly known as KSM, has criticized Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, over a viral video that captured him giving money to Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

According to KSM, public figures must demonstrate a sense of responsibility and focus, especially when interacting with controversial personalities.

He suggested that such gestures even if well-intentioned, should be handled more discreetly to avoid misinterpretation.

“You can still be a people person. You can still respect people. But at the very worst, tell the person to call your PA and then come to the office. That shows you have a certain level of responsibility and focus,” he advised.
KSM explained that as a public official, Sammy Gyamfi must be mindful of the optics and the impact of his actions on public trust.

“To Sammy Gyamfi and others who say that there was nothing wrong with what he did, maybe you’re right. But the optics are not good,” he said.

He illustrated his point by saying that if Sammy Gyamfi had helped a vulnerable patient at a hospital, such as someone unable to affor medical bills, the public would have likely applauded him.

“But the optics of Sammy Gyamfi dashing a woman called Agradaa, who has been seen notoriously on record bashing the NDC. Its not good,” KSM stressed.

Meanwhile, there have been growing calls for Sammy Gyamfi to be penalized or removed from office following the viral video incident.

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have publicly demaded his dismissal, citing concerns over the image and intergrity of public office .

  • I never walked out of Newsfile show; Sammy Gyamfi and Samson lied – Ntim Fordjour

I never walked out of Newsfile show; Sammy Gyamfi and Samson lied – Ntim Fordjour

Assin South Member of Parliament (MP), Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly denied allegations that he walked out of the Newsfile programme on JoyNews during a discussion on suspected drug trafficking at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The MP took to social media to refute claims made by Samson Lardy Anyenini, the host of Newsfile, and NPP spokesperson Sammy Gyamfi, who suggested that he abruptly exited the show.

In a post on X, Reverend Fordjour clarified the situation, explaining that he had been scheduled for a specific segment of the programme and had left after his part was concluded. He wrote:

“I never walked out of Newsfile contrary to what Samson Ayenini and Sammy Gyamfi put out. I was billed for only a particular segment and was told another panelist was billed to take over after my segment. I left after my segment fully concluded and break was taken for me to exit while my replacement walked in to take her seat.”

Fordjour further explained that during his exit, he had communicated his concerns about what he perceived to be biased and hostile hosting by Samson Lardy Anyenini. According to the MP, Sammy Gyamfi filmed the exit and subsequently circulated a misleading video on WhatsApp, falsely suggesting that he had walked out in protest.

“While exiting, I indicated to Samson his biased and hostile hosting. Sammy Gyamfi filmed the exit and broadcasted falsely on his WhatsApp with claims of me walking out the show,” Fordjour stated.

He went on to accuse Samson of misrepresenting the events once the break ended, claiming that the host falsely asserted that he had walked out due to reading disingenuous messages on the show. Fordjour also expressed his frustration with the way Samson had portrayed him in the lead-up to and during the segment.

“Samson immediately upon resuming from break to begin the next segment, mischievously stated I had walked out of the show because he had read disingenuous messages,” Fordjour said.

The MP continued, alleging that Samson had made inappropriate and false statements about him before and during the show, which he said were intended to smear his reputation.

“Listen to what Samson said about me before I entered the studio, and while I was in the studio and conclude, what he’s capable of saying when I exited. He pronounced me guilty, to shut up, jail-bound and all sorts of inappropriate false pronouncements, clearly not hiding his prejudices to smear me. So please disregard his claim and the false video of Sammy Gyamfi – it was staged, not coincidence.”

Fordjour concluded his post by reiterating that he had followed the programme’s schedule and had left only after his segment had ended.

“I stayed through the full segment I was billed for and exited after. Have a blessed Sunday!”

You must prove your claims or face arrest – Sammy Gyamfi to Ntim Fordjour

Allegations by Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, about two aircraft allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering sparked intense debate.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, challenged the MP to prove his claims or face legal consequences. According to Gyamfi, such serious accusations should not go unchecked, especially if untrue.

“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted,” Gyamfi said, arguing that false allegations of this nature would attract severe penalties elsewhere.

He insisted the MP should not hide behind parliamentary immunity and must respond to National Security’s invitation.

“If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that.”

Rev. Fordjour, who is also the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence Committee, dismissed the calls for his arrest and responded defiantly.

“Sammy, I dare you to call them to come and arrest me right here in the show,” he said.

The confrontation follows demands by the Minority for answers from National Security over the prolonged stay of a private jet and an air ambulance in Ghana before flying to Gran Canaria, Spain.

Rev. Fordjour alleged, based on intelligence reports, that the aircraft might have been carrying cocaine and significant amounts of U.S. dollars.

However, several government officials, including Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, have dismissed the claims, describing them as false and unverified.

Sammy Gyamfi calls for arrest of Rev Ntim Fordjour over drug trafficking, money laundering claims

Sammy Gyamfi has called for the immediate arrest of Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, following allegations the legislator made about two aircraft allegedly connected to drug trafficking and money laundering activities.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) insisted that Rev. Fordjour must either provide concrete evidence to back his claims or face legal consequences.

“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted,” Mr. Gyamfi asserted, stressing the seriousness of the matter. He argued that such allegations, if proven false, would not be taken lightly elsewhere and must not be overlooked in Ghana.

He further warned that Rev. Fordjour must comply with any National Security invitation to answer questions about his claims. “If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that,” he declared.

However, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee pushed back against Sammy Gyamfi’s demands, defending the Assin South MP and challenging the calls for his arrest.

  • GoldBod Bill process wasn’t rushed in Parliament – Sammy Gyamfi insists

GoldBod Bill process wasn’t rushed in Parliament – Sammy Gyamfi insists

The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has rejected claims that the GoldBod Bill was hurried through Parliament without proper scrutiny.

He insists that the bill underwent a comprehensive and consultative process before its approval.

According to Gyamfi, who has been assigned by President Mahama to oversee the establishment of GoldBod under the direction of the Finance Minister, accusations that the bill lacked due diligence are baseless. He detailed the various stages of consultation, stakeholder engagements, and legislative reviews that shaped the final version of the bill.

Gyamfi stressed that extensive consultations were carried out to develop a solid legal and operational framework for GoldBod.

“It became clear from our engagements that a broad consultative approach was imperative in creating a legal and operational framework for the GoldBod that is fit for purpose,” he stated.

To ensure a well-structured bill, the Finance Minister set up a technical committee composed of representatives from key industry bodies, including the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners, the Chamber of Bullion Traders, the Bank of Ghana, the Minerals Commission, and the Minerals Income Investment Fund. This committee engaged with stakeholders across the mining and financial sectors to refine the bill’s provisions.

The initial discussions involved experts from the Finance Ministry, followed by engagements with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. Based on these inputs, a legal consultant was tasked with drafting legislative instructions, forming the foundation of the bill.

Once the draft was prepared, further consultations were held with gold traders, small-scale miners, bullion dealers, and civil society organizations specializing in the extractive sector.

To encourage broader participation, the committee extended discussions to various regions, ensuring that diverse perspectives were considered.

“We held three regional programs in Akyem Tafo, Kumasi, and Tarkwa, where chiefs, miners, and traders were taken through the draft legislation and given the opportunity to contribute their views,” Gyamfi explained.

Following these regional engagements, additional adjustments were made before the bill was forwarded to the Attorney-General’s office for formal drafting. Legal experts from the Attorney-General’s department had been involved throughout the process to guarantee legal clarity and compliance. The final version was then submitted for Executive Approval before being presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister.

Gyamfi described the legislative review process as one of the most meticulous in recent history, emphasizing that lawmakers had ample time to examine the bill in detail.

“At the first meeting of the Joint Committee on Finance and Lands and Natural Resources, the NPP minority requested a one-day adjournment to study the bill in detail. This request was granted,” he noted.

Following this pause, the committee conducted a thorough examination of each clause, making several amendments where necessary. Although the NPP, led by Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam, expressed general support for the GoldBod initiative, they sought assurances that the bill was appropriately structured.

One of the key moments in the legislative process was the “winnowing” session, where MPs debated over 50 proposed amendments put forward by the NPP minority.

“At this session, which lasted over four hours, several amendments were accepted, while others were abandoned after extensive discussions,” Gyamfi recounted.

Despite this exhaustive review, the NPP minority later walked out of Parliament, arguing that the bill was being rushed through the process. Gyamfi dismissed this claim outright, asserting:

“A very respected NPP MP confided in me that he had never seen a bill undergo such stringent parliamentary scrutiny.”

GOLDBOD bill expected to be passed today – Sammy Gyamfi

Parliament is set to pass the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) Bill 2025 into law today, Friday, March 28, before proceeding on its Easter recess, provided there are no unforeseen hurdles.

The bill is considered a significant step toward regulating Ghana’s gold industry, with a focus on enhancing transparency, strengthening traceability, and boosting foreign exchange earnings from the sector.

The proposed legislation, which has attracted widespread attention, aims to establish the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD), a body that will oversee and regulate gold transactions, including buying, selling, and export.

Sammy Gyamfi, Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), has expressed optimism about the bill’s approval.

Speaking to Joy News, Sammy Gyamfi revealed that the drafting process involved extensive consultations and engagements to ensure the bill effectively addresses the challenges of the gold industry.

He pointed out that Parliament has made significant strides, incorporating over 40 amendments into the bill.

Additionally, he disclosed that the previous version of the bill was withdrawn to accommodate these amendments, highlighting Parliament’s dedication to refining the legislation before its passage.

Based on current developments, Sammy Gyamfi is confident that the bill will be passed before Parliament adjourns for Easter.

“We have made more than 40 amendments to the bill and relayed it in Parliament and the old one had been withdrawn. From the indications that I am getting, the bill will be passed before Parliament breaks for the Easter.”

“The Finance Committee of Parliament has done a good job and we need to commend them.”

  • GoldBod will halt direct purchase of gold between foreigners, miners – Sammy Gyamfi

GoldBod will halt direct purchase of gold between foreigners, miners – Sammy Gyamfi

Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that the newly established Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) will revolutionize the country’s gold industry.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, March 20, about Ghana’s gold sector and the impact of illegal mining, he emphasized that once GoldBod begins operations, no foreigner will be allowed to purchase gold directly from miners.

Instead, all gold transactions will be centralized through GoldBod, following a structure similar to Ghana’s Cocoa Board.

“And let me sound this caution: No foreigner, and I repeat, no foreigner—be it an Indian or Chinese—will have the right to go and buy gold from a miner once GoldBod commences business. No way. We are cancelling that regime. Ghanaians can buy gold for GoldBod, just like Ghanaians buy cocoa for the Cocoa Board. If you are a foreigner and you want gold from Ghana, we are happy to sell it to you—but at the level of GoldBod. Come to GoldBod,” he warned.

The GoldBod, to be established by the government, will oversee and strengthen Ghana’s gold industry. Its primary goal is to ensure efficient and sustainable management of the sector, driving economic growth while positioning Ghana’s gold competitively on the global market.

Mr. Gyamfi noted that as of 2022, gold exports were primarily handled by bullion traders who held export licenses from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, based on recommendations from the Minerals Commission. There were 61 such licensed traders, the majority of whom were foreigners, mainly Indians and Chinese. As a result, Ghanaian traders, who were in the minority, struggled to compete due to limited financial resources compared to their foreign counterparts.

The initiative to restrict gold purchases to Ghanaians aims to curb illegal mining and smuggling, empower local businesses, and retain more foreign exchange within the country. It seeks to replicate the success of the cocoa sector by ensuring that gold trade benefits Ghanaians directly.

The establishment of GoldBod is expected to bring transparency and accountability to the gold industry, addressing issues such as tax evasion and underreporting of gold production.

Mr. Gyamfi also revealed that Ghana loses between 70% and 80% of the gold produced by small-scale mining companies to smuggling.

Meanwhile, Finance and Economic Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has expressed confidence in the potential success of GoldBod, emphasizing that its effectiveness will depend on sound governance and operational structures.

He stressed that the board’s success hinges on a regulatory framework that aligns with industry standards while ensuring market adaptability. He further highlighted that maintaining commercial viability will be crucial, particularly in a market where gold transactions typically involve discounts ranging from 5% to 15% based on pre-financing terms.

Hosi suggested that if GoldBod integrates these market conditions and offsets the 1.5% gold export tax, it could avoid becoming a government monopoly and instead serve as a strategic commercial partner for small-scale miners and aggregators.

2025 budget will ease burdens – Sammy Gyamfi

The acting CEO of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company, Sammy Gyamfi, has reiterated President John Dramani Mahama’s resolve to avoid imposing harsh tax measures on the public.

Ahead of the 2025 budget presentation by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, Gyamfi characterized the upcoming fiscal plan as one that offers relief rather than additional financial strain.

He emphasized that the budget would prioritize employment opportunities for all citizens, irrespective of their political leanings, underscoring the NDC government’s commitment to revitalizing the nation’s economy.

As the budget is set to be unveiled on Tuesday, March 11, expectations are high that the government will follow through on its pledge to abolish levies such as the betting tax, E-Levy, and COVID-19 levy.

“…I can tell you that this budget will not introduce any draconian taxes like they did when they were in government. This budget is a budget of hope. It is a budget that will ease hardships and not impose hardship on them.

“It is a budget that will be creating jobs, not collapsing them like they did. We do not have to speculate at all,” he stated.

The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has debunked claims that he spent GHS173,940 on purchasing new office furniture and a refrigerator.

In a Facebook post on February 15, Gyamfi dismissed the accusations as “completely baseless,” asserting that he has not made any replacements or upgrades since assuming office.

He clarified that all furnishings, including his chair, desk, and refrigerator, were already in place before he took over the role.

“I have made no changes to my office since assuming office as Ag. MD for the PMMC on 20th January 2025. All the things in my office, including the chair, desk, fridge etc. were there before I assumed office. Not even the A4 sheets or pens on my office desk have been changed. This fact can easily be verified by any reasonable person.”

Gyamfi urged the public to scrutinize such claims before accepting assertions made by communicators and social media operatives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This initiative seeks to enhance transparency, improve revenue mobilization, and ensure equitable distribution of gold-related wealth.

Don’t attack govt institutions – NDC cautions supporters

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to its supporters to refrain from attacking state institutions in the aftermath of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Addressing party faithful, the Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, emphasized that the party has already secured victory and warned against actions that could tarnish this achievement.

“There is no need to attack government institutions or vandalize any public property; there is no need for that,” Mr. Gyamfi stated.

His comments follow reports of NDC supporters storming several state institutions, including the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) office in Ayawaso East and the Metro Mass Transport Limited yard at Kaneshie. Additionally, some supporters have gathered at collation centres across the country, demanding a swift declaration of parliamentary results.

Mr Gyamfi alleged that elements within the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration are likely trying to evade accountability for corruption, and any destruction of state offices could provide them with an excuse to cover their tracks.

“There are many NPP supporters who want to destroy evidence of their wrongdoings and criminal conduct. Don’t give them a smooth excuse to do that,” he added.

Mr. Gyamfi urged NDC supporters to remain calm and celebrate peacefully, cautioning, “Please, we beg you.”

NDC will press charges against Annoh-Dompreh for shooting a supporter – Sammy Gyamfi

The NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has alleged that Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the current Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, shot one of the party’s supporters.

During a press conference on Monday, December 9, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi alleged that Annoh-Dompreh shot the supporter in the leg.

He indicated that the NDC intends to press criminal charges against Annoh-Dompreh, who holds the position of chief whip for the NPP caucus in Parliament.

“As for Annoh-Dompreh, who shot one of our supporters in the thigh, he shouldn’t worry, January 7 isn’t far. The day of accountability is coming. Don’t take the laws into your own hands. We waited for eight years to come, so don’t do the things the NPP did, for which reason Ghanaians have rejected them. Let’s reflect the persona and character of our leader, John Mahama,” he said.

Meanwhile the NDC has denounced the vandalism and looting of state properties in various regions of the country following its triumph in the 2024 presidential election.

In a statement released on Monday, December 8, 2024, the party expressed regret over these actions, labeling them as unlawful and harmful to national stability.

The NDC explained that some of these acts were committed by overly exuberant party supporters, caught up in the fervor of the party’s sweeping victory in the recently concluded Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

“Some of these acts of vandalism and looting of state properties are reported to have been carried out by disgruntled supporters of the New Patriotic Party who believe that their party’s Parliamentary Candidates hoarded state-procured food items, fertilizer, and other materials which were meant to be distributed before the December 7 elections, as part of the NPP’s voter inducement strategy.”

We have won; it’s now your turn to do justice – NDC to EC

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly collate and release the results from the recently concluded 2024 general elections.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Gyamfi stated that the NDC’s internal data shows that their flagbearer has received more votes than any other presidential candidate.

He further noted that the EC is well aware of the standings of all candidates, particularly the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the EC’s delay in releasing the results it has already compiled is surprising, as it is clear that the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has emerged as the winner of the 2024 elections.

Meanwhile the EC has noted that it has not yet received the official results for both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the just ended 2024 general elections from all sixteen (16) regions.

In a press briefing on Sunday, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr Bannor Bio, explained that the results currently circulating are from the regional collation centres and have not yet been finalized at the National Collation Centre.

He emphasized that the EC has not made any statements regarding the current standing of candidates, as the official results are still pending.

The EC reassured the public that it will provide an update once the final results are received and verified.

“Once received the results are also collated in the pool view of the party agents who are here with us and a copy given to each agent present. The results from the National Collation Centre are also posted at the National Collation Centre. Once this is done the returning officer for the presidential election in the person of the Chairperson of the EC declares the winner of the presidential election.

“For the information for the general public as we speak no results have been received at the National Collation Centre from the regions. Our feedback from the field is that the results are trickling in to the regional collation centre hence our inability to publish these results at the National Collation Centre,” he added.

  • NDC has won in constituencies it never won since 1992 – Sammy Gyamfi

NDC has won in constituencies it never won since 1992 – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has revealed that, for the first time, the party has won several constituencies it has consistently lost since 1992.

Addressing the media at the headquarters of the party, he attributed the victory to God’s grace and the united efforts of patriotic Ghanaians, adding that the people have clearly lost faith in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, this unexpected victory has left some of the executives of the party awe over the results tropping in from different constituencies.

He emphasized that the NDC’s victory is certain and urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly announce the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, as the winner of the just ended 2024 elections.

“We have won in constituencies that the NPP has never won since the 1992 elections and it is unimaginable, unbelievable and incredible that even some of us struggle to believe. The scale of the victory that God has graced us with and the people of this country,” he added.

Mr. Gyamfi urged NDC members to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process by closely monitoring the transport of ballot boxes and other election materials to the constituency collation centres.

He highlighted the critical role of accompanying Electoral Commission (EC) officials during this stage, as it is when the results are compiled and announced.

  • No political party can fulfill 100% of their manifesto promises – Sammy Gyamfi

No political party can fulfill 100% of their manifesto promises – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has noted that it is practically impossible for any political party to fulfil all of its manifesto promises.

In a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz, Mr. Gyamfi said, “There is no political party in the world that has been able to achieve all of its promises in its manifesto. Even if you go to America and take the manifesto of Republicans and Democrats, none of them can fulfil a 100 percent.”

He made the comments in reaction to a statement by one of the panelists, an entertainment pundit, Mc Yaa Yeboah, who challenged Mr Gyamfi to explain why some promises to the creative industry made by the flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama, in the 2012 manifesto did not materialise.

“Politicians have taken this sector for a ride for a long time. Clearly, politicians have disrespected this sector for a very long time. As we are about to vote, every politician is running to this sector to trumpet their message. In 2012, President Mahama said he would build a national theatre in Kumasi and you (host) asked where is the national theatre we are building in Kumasi. But I didn’t get an answer,” she added.

She stressed, “When they make some of these promises, they have to deliver.”

In subsquent remarks, Mr. Gyamfi trumpted some of the achievements of the erstwhile Mahama-led administration, saying, “Mahama, for the first time, gave a whopping 2 million cedis to the creative arts sector. He also gave another 2 million cedis to MUSIGA. The NDC even established a ministry for creative arts, a tourism authority, and a tourism development levy.

“So, you cannot compare the ‘December to Remember’ initiative to what the NDC did for the sector. My sister shouldn’t be so defensive. The NDC provided cars on loans through MASLOC to creatives and even helped the old and feeble beneficiaries clear their debts. But when this government came into power, they took back all the cars from them.”

In November, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged that while his administration hasn’t fulfilled every promise made, he believes 80% of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto commitments have been achieved.

Speaking during a tour of the Western North Region on Tuesday, November 5, he highlighted the government’s accomplishments and reiterated his commitment to advancing Ghana’s development.

“I wouldn’t stand before you and say I have delivered on all my promises. That will not be truthful, but I can confidently say that 80% of our manifesto promises have been achieved,” Akufo-Addo stated, pointing to successes in education, health, infrastructure, industrial transformation, agriculture, and cocoa.

Addressing the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, the President emphasized its transformative impact, noting that since its introduction in 2017, over 5.7 million students have gained access to secondary education, breaking financial barriers that previously hindered many families.

He cited this as one of his administration’s key achievements. President Akufo-Addo also expressed his gratitude to the people of the Western North Region for their steadfast support, which he said has been instrumental in reaching these milestones.

He reassured them of his administration’s dedication to fulfilling remaining commitments, despite challenges along the way.

Don’t vote for non-performing Ophelia Hayford – Sammy Gyamfi to Mfantseman constituents

National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has urged the people of Mfantseman in the Central Region to vote out their current Member of Parliament, Ophelia Hayford, in the 2024 elections.

Speaking during community engagements at Abandze and Kromantse, Mr. Gyamfi described the MP as a non-performer who has failed to deliver meaningful contributions in Parliament.

Sammy Gyamfi criticized Hayford, labeling her a “yea yea MP” who merely adds to the numbers without making a significant impact. He argued that this lack of effective representation is hindering development in the constituency.

Highlighting the credentials of the NDC’s 2024 parliamentary candidate, Dr. Prince Kojo Arhin, Mr. Gyamfi praised him as a capable and dynamic individual who would provide quality representation and advocate for the development of the area.

He called on residents to back Dr. Arhin, an HR professional, to ensure that Mfantseman gets the strong leadership and advocacy it deserves in Parliament. Gyamfi emphasized that the incumbent MP’s poor performance has deprived the constituency of needed progress.

During the tour, the NDC delegation, which included the Minority Leader, donated GHS10,000 on behalf of the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, to support the completion of a stalled community center project in Kromantse.

They assured the chiefs and people of Kromantse that the next NDC government would prioritize the project’s completion and other development initiatives in the area.

Mr Ponko, a respected leader known for his dedication and contributions to the community, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed, leaving many shocked and saddened by the unexpected news.

Tributes have began pouring in from various sectors of society, particularly from members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), where Ponko was a prominent figure.

His commitment to public service and the welfare of his constituents earned him admiration and respect, making his passing a significant loss to the Ejisu-Juaben municipality.

The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, took to social media to express his condolences to Mr Ponko’s family.

  • I will accept results if Mahama wins 2024 election with ‘flawed’ voters register – Sammy Gyamfi

I will accept results if Mahama wins 2024 election with ‘flawed’ voters register – Sammy Gyamfi

National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has declared that he will accept the election results if John Mahama wins the presidential election on December 7, even with the voters’ register that the party considers flawed.

This statement comes in light of the party’s demand for a forensic audit of the voters’ register, which they believe undermines the integrity of the electoral process.

As the NDC prepares for the upcoming elections, concerns about the credibility of the voters’ register have become a focal point. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the party’s Director of Elections and IT, voiced his worries in a Facebook post, describing the current register as “unfit for purpose.”

He has called for a forensic audit or a thorough parliamentary investigation to rectify what he characterizes as “incurably defective” anomalies within the register.

Dr. Boamah highlighted that the NDC’s careful examination during the exhibition exercise uncovered numerous issues with the voters’ register. He warned that if these concerns are not addressed, the credibility of the 2024 elections could be significantly jeopardized.

“The register compiled by the EC is unfit for purpose. Without a forensic audit or thorough parliamentary investigation of the EC’s voter register, the register will remain incurably defective,” he stated.

“Forget about adjudication! It’s obvious the register has deliberately been tampered with!”

On September 23, 2024, the NDC met with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), labor unions, and religious leaders to push for a forensic audit of Ghana’s voter register after presenting its case on the need for the forensic audit of the voter register and the EC’s IT system.

Following the NDC’s persistent demands, the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, in an interview on Asempa FM, was asked the following questions:

“After this advocacy and what you are requesting is turned down by the EC, and we go into the elections with this, in your own words, ‘flawed’ voter register and John Mahama wins the elections, would you reject the results?”

Sammy Gyamfi responded, “Why will I reject the results?” Then the host retorted, “Based on the flawed voter register, as you said.”

Sammy Gyamfi responded: “What are you talking about?” he asked, and the host chipped in, “Are you not the one who claimed the voter register is flawed?”

Then Sammy Gyamfi replied, “Master, what you are saying is neither here nor there.”

The host asked again, “You said the voter register is flawed, and I am asking you if the corrections are not made and we vote with this register and Mahama wins, are you rejecting the results?”

Sammy Gyamfi responded, “I will not reject the results, but I will not be happy with the elections.”

  • EC is jeopardizing the peace, stability and democracy of this country – Sammy Gyamfi

EC is jeopardizing the peace, stability and democracy of this country – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the Electoral Commission for allegedly endangering the country’s peace, stability, and democracy.

During a discussion on TV3’s political show, Gyamfi expressed confusion over the Electoral Commission’s refusal to permit a forensic audit of the voter register.

He argued that if the Commission has nothing to hide, it should accept an audit by an external body.

“I don’t understand why the Electoral Commission is resisting an audit of the voter register. They seem intent on undermining the peace, stability, and democracy of the country. What are they trying to conceal? We demand that a third party scrutinize the voter register,” Gyamfi stated.

In response to the NDC’s planned protest against the Electoral Commission, the Accra Regional Police Command has reached an agreement with the opposition party.

The protest is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

In a letter signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police and Deputy Regional Commander Emmanuel Aryee Akonnor, addressed to the NDC, the police confirmed the demonstration would begin at 7:00 a.m.

The NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, announced a nationwide demonstration on September 17 against the Electoral Commission over its refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register ahead of the December elections.

He cited suspicions due to a lack of transparency from the EC as a key reason for the protest.

Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has presented seven Mitsubishi pickup trucks to the party’s Regional Communication Officers.

This donation, made on behalf of the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, is intended to acknowledge the efforts of the officers and improve their ability to advance the party’s agenda.

The trucks will be allocated to the regions of Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Bono, Bono East, Western, and Greater Accra.

In a post on social media, Gyamfi expressed his hope that this contribution would inspire the officers to effectively promote the party’s policies and help secure a significant win in the upcoming December 7 elections.

He also mentioned that a previous donation of four Mitsubishi pickups to the Savannah, Ashanti, Eastern, and Volta regions is already proving beneficial.

In addition, over 140 motorcycles have been distributed to Constituency Communication Officers nationwide.

Gyamfi conveyed his appreciation to former President John Dramani Mahama for his ongoing support and leadership of the National Communications Bureau (NCB).

NDC reveals approved route for voter register demo on Sept. 17

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed the approved route for nationwide demonstrations set for 17 September, aimed at pressuring the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register.

The demonstrations will take place across all regions of Ghana, with the main protest taking place in the country’s capital.

Confirming the Accra protest route during a media briefing on Wednesday, NDC General Secretary Fifi Kwetey said the march will begin at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, proceed through Farisco Traffic Light, pass through TUC and the Ministry area, and conclude in front of the EC’s headquarters.

“We had a very good meeting with the regional police bosses, and the agreement is that we are going to proceed with our demonstration on the 17th. It’s going to happen not just in Greater Accra but in all other regions of the country at the same time,” Kwetey said.

The announcement follows discussions between NDC leaders and the Ghana Police Service at the Accra Regional Police Command.

National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi and Director of Elections Dr. Omane Boamah were also present at the meeting, where logistical arrangements and police approval were finalised.

The NDC has expressed concerns over potential inaccuracies in the voter register and has been calling for a forensic audit to ensure transparency in the electoral process. Kwetey stressed the importance of a credible voter register for the upcoming general elections, arguing that a thorough audit would be in the national interest.

“There are issues, and we are pressing for a forensic audit to be done, that’s actually the reason why we want to embark on this demonstration. If there is nothing to hide, there should really be no problem at all,” Kwetey added.

The party has called on all Ghanaians to join the protest, emphasising the need to protect the integrity of the electoral process and democracy.

  • NPP came to power to steal, kill and destroy, no intention to fight galamsey – Sammy Gyamfi

NPP came to power to steal, kill and destroy, no intention to fight galamsey – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sharply criticized President Akufo-Addo’s recent claim of risking his presidency to tackle illegal mining, dismissing it as mere deception.

Gyamfi highlighted that illegal mining is severely jeopardizing access to clean water, which could have dire consequences for Ghanaians if not effectively addressed.

He accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of misleading both the media and the public with their promises, suggesting that the NPP’s true agenda was harmful and deceitful.

“What the NPP came to do was to kill, to steal, and to destroy. They had no genuine commitment to the fight against illegal mining, and the flowery talk you heard from President Akufo-Addo about putting the presidency on the line was all a scam. There was no commitment to fight illegal mining in the first place; in fact, there was no fight.”

In a related issue, Dr. Clifford Braimah, Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited, warned of a potential severe water crisis due to inefficiencies in water treatment.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, he expressed alarm at the high rate of water loss during treatment, which is currently between 35% and 50%, far above the acceptable level of 5%. This inefficiency poses a significant health risk.

Gyamfi criticized the NPP’s approach, alleging that their supposed commitment to combating illegal mining was never genuine. He claimed that the real intent was to displace small-scale miners and allow NPP loyalists and government officials to take over the illegal mining activities.

Gyamfi argued that the public, media, and civil society were deceived by the NPP’s promises and failed to scrutinize their true motives, enabling them to execute their alleged harmful plan unchallenged.

“That is why they have been able to implement this evil game plan to the letter: because they were not being checked. But we saw through the deception right from the get-go and we told you, we warned that these guys are not committed to the illegal mining fight.”

  • Ghana is sick, we can’t take care of citizens’ health needs – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has declared that Ghana is in a state of illness due to its inability to adequately care for its sick population.

He argues that a nation that cannot address the health needs of its citizens is itself in poor health.

In an interview on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Gyamfi emphasized the NDC’s commitment to addressing these critical issues under a potential future administration led by John Mahama.

He revealed that the NDC plans to abolish fees for students with disabilities from levels 100 to 400, ensuring that no physically challenged student will have to pay fees under a Mahama-led government.

Gyamfi further highlighted the “Mahama Cares” initiative, which aims to provide support to individuals suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and kidney failure. These individuals, he noted, often struggle to afford the expensive medications required for their treatment.

“Chronic diseases account for the highest percentage of mortality in the country,” Gyamfi stated, pointing out that many of these deaths are not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He added, “A nation that does not take care of its sick is itself sick. The deaths recorded in this country are not covered by health insurance.”

Gyamfi explained that the ‘Mahama Cares Initiative’ Fund would work in tandem with the free primary health care initiative. This would ensure that all individuals, regardless of their health insurance status, receive free treatment when they visit community clinics, polyclinics, or health centers.

Through these measures, the NDC hopes to improve the nation’s healthcare system and ensure that no Ghanaian is left without access to the necessary medical care.

  • Bawumia is clueless about Ghanaians’ struggles – Sammy Gyamfi

Bawumia is clueless about Ghanaians’ struggles – Sammy Gyamfi

The NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has taken aim at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Flagbearer, for his alleged lack of relevance to Ghana’s governance challenges.

During an interview on Onua TV on August 30, 2024, Mr Gyamfi accused Bawumia of being preoccupied with theoretical economic models.

He suggested that this focus has been detrimental to addressing the country’s real issues.

“Dr. Bawumia, all this while, has been focusing on textbook economic theories he learnt in school. He knows nothing about governance issues. He cannot relate to the suffering and hardship Ghanaians are going through. Any time he mounts the stage now, he cracks jokes that he alone finds funny,” he said.

Sammy Gyamfi criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for promising to remove the E-Levy tax solely upon his election to the presidency, asking why the tax isn’t being abolished right now.

Gyamfi argued that Bawumia appears more focused on preparing his 2024 election manifesto rather than addressing the immediate challenges Ghanaians are facing.

“In 2016, Bawumia went to sit on air and said there are too many taxes hurting Ghanaians. Today posterity has exposed him. Today he says when he is elected as president he will abolish the e-levy tax. Why can’t he do it now?

“Recently, he was asked by a journalist why the Akufo-Addo-led government can’t abolish e-levy now. Did you hear his answer? He said if it is abolished, he won’t have a manifesto. So, because he needs a manifesto for the pending elections, Ghanaians should suffer, so if he abolishes all the taxes the NPP introduced, what will the next NPP government do.

“This is the mindset of the NPP. Who told him taxes are the only problems Ghanaians are facing? Akufo-Addo has been saying that he is intelligent, so if he is that intelligent as claimed by Akufo-Addo, why can’t he advise the government to cancel the E-Levy and all the other taxes they have burdened Ghanaian’s with?” he stated.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to eliminate four taxes introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government if they win the upcoming election. These taxes include the E-Levy, COVID Levy, a 10 percent levy on betting winnings, and the Emissions Levy.

  • Bottom line is Mahama is innocent, OSP can keep their advice – Sammy Gyamfi on Airbus scandal

Bottom line is Mahama is innocent, OSP can keep their advice – Sammy Gyamfi on Airbus scandal

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has dismissed the advice offered by the Special Prosecutor regarding former President John Dramani Mahama’s involvement in the controversial Airbus procurement deal.

This comes after the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, concluded a four-year investigation into the bribery allegations surrounding the deal, ultimately clearing Mr. Mahama and other officials of any wrongdoing.

Despite this exoneration, Mr. Agyebeng expressed concerns about the former President’s interactions with Airbus officials during the transaction, suggesting that such involvement by a highly elected public official could raise suspicions of a conflict of interest.

“It ought reasonably to have occurred to former President Mahama and the Government of Ghana that the familial relationship between former President Mahama and Foster and the direct participation by former President Mahama in the communications and meetings with Airbus officials were bound to raise reasonable suspicions of improper conduct and dealings notwithstanding any claims to good faith conduct and above board dealings,” Mr. Agyebeng stated.

He further advised that sitting Presidents and Vice Presidents should avoid direct involvement in commercial transactions on behalf of the state.

However, in a firm rebuttal during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show, Sammy Gyamfi made it clear that the NDC is not concerned with the advice given by the Special Prosecutor, emphasizing that the primary focus should be on Mr. Mahama’s exoneration.

“The Special Prosecutor, after revealing his findings, proceeded to give advice. That is his advice; we are not interested in his advice,” Gyamfi stated. “We are not interested in suspicions. We are interested in the bottom line. The bottom line is that there was no evidence found against Mahama in the Airbus Scandal.”

Gyamfi also challenged the expectations placed on Mr. Mahama during his time as Vice President, when the controversial transaction occurred. He questioned whether Mahama should have resigned simply because the military chose to do business with Airbus, a company whose agent happened to be his brother.

“The Military had decided to do business with Airbus, a company whose agent was his brother. What did we expect Mahama to do? Should he have resigned as Vice President?” Gyamfi questioned.

Sammy Gyamfi’s comments underscore the NDC’s stance that the only important outcome of the investigation is Mahama’s innocence, dismissing any additional advice or commentary from the Special Prosecutor.

FULL TEXT: NDC fingers Bawumia in abusing sole-sourced gov’t contracts for his brother

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has leveled accusations against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, alleging the misuse of sole-sourcing for contract awards.

The opposition party claims that the government has granted contracts to members of Bawumia’s family, including his brother.

The allegations were made by the Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi.

He noted that the government awarded two juicy cocoa road projects to Resource Access Limited, a company owned by the Vice President’s brother, in the year 2020.

Below is the NDC’s statement on the subject matter.

  • Sammy Gyamfi accuses AG of causing financial loss to the state

Sammy Gyamfi accuses AG of causing financial loss to the state

National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has accused Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame of inflicting substantial financial loss on the state through his management of the ambulance case.

Mr. Gyamfi claims that the Attorney General’s primary focus in the case should have been recovering the allegedly lost funds. Instead, he argues that Mr. Yeboah Dame prioritized the prosecution of the first accused, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Newsfile, Mr. Gyamfi highlighted that a third party, Big Sea, had initially offered to pay €2 million of the €2.37 million in dispute. However, the Attorney General rejected this offer. According to Gyamfi, this rejection reveals the true intent behind the case.

“It is clear that Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has occasioned a huge financial loss to the state, because any prosecutor who is prosecuting an offence of willfully causing financial loss to the state, your number one goal ought to be the possible recovery of the loss you alleged has been occasioned,” Gyamfi stated.

He continued, “So if a third party says ‘without prejudice to the rights of any of the accused, this matter can impact my reputation so I want to pay this money to you,’ your first inclination is to accept that offer. But you see, because the objective of going after Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson was persecution and not prosecution, he was not interested in the recovery of the money.”

Gyamfi also recounted how Richard Jakpa, the third accused, supported Big Sea’s offer and sought to negotiate a plea bargain, but these attempts were repeatedly dismissed by the Attorney General.

“Jakpa writes to say, we are adopting the offer, and again AG rejected it claiming the terms are not acceptable. And Jakpa writes again to amend the terms to make it more favourable and Godfred Dame says he is not interested,” Gyamfi explained. “And his reason was that ‘until you convince Ato Forson to join this plea bargain, I am not accepting it.’”

With the case recently dismissed by the Court of Appeal, Gyamfi believes the Attorney General’s refusal to accept the plea deal resulted in a financial loss for the state and displayed a clear bias against Dr. Forson rather than a genuine effort to address the financial issue.

“We can confidently say that the person they were targeting was Dr. Forson,” Gyamfi concluded.

Old Testament God would’ve made the earth swallow Akufo-Addo for lying – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has once again criticized the Akufo-Addo administration.

In a heated discussion on Metro TV’s morning show, the officer expressed frustration over the current hardships experienced in the country.

He accused the President of making promises based on falsehoods rather than truth.

Specifically, he cited the National Cathedral Project as an example, arguing that it was founded on lies and deceit.

He asserted, “If we were in the days of the Old Testament, the earth would have swallowed Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.”

I was already focused, but marriage has made me more focused – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has shared how marriage has positively impacted his life and career, highlighting increased focus and discipline.

Married since December 2022, Mr Gyamfi described marriage as a transformative experience that has provided him with stability and reinforced his commitment to his goals.

He acknowledges that while he was already focused before marriage, the institution has significantly deepened these attributes.

“I was already focused, but marriage has made me more focused. Marriage has given me a better half that helps me to execute our plans and objectives. It has been a good experience so far. We are taking it one step at a time and learning a lot thanks to our parents and all the elders. We are making good progress. The thing about marriage is it doesn’t matter how long you have been together; marriage is different from courtship,” he noted.

In response to recent controversies, including a viral video suggesting a lavish trip to Miami funded by the party, Gyamfi firmly denied any misuse of party funds.

In an interview on the KSM show, he dismissed the allegations as part of the challenges in his political role and affirmed his commitment to integrity and transparency.

“It has nothing to do with party funds; some people put it out there for their own mischievous plans. There are aspects of criminality, and I couldn’t let it pass. There are clearly false statements about me. The judicial process is ongoing, and we wait to see what the court will say. I think that my wife has taken it in her stride. I have inculcated in her the need to have a tough skin just like me because of the terrain I find myself in. I know the detractors who put that out there sought to tarnish my image and discredit my voice. It is an old trip I made after I got married. I have never stolen money, and I will never steal money. I don’t know why my private life should remain an issue,” he asserted.

Reflecting on his political journey, Gyamfi traced his passion back to junior high school, where he developed an interest in politics and leadership.

Influenced by his father and inspired by figures like Ghana’s former president, Jerry John Rawlings, he pursued law and economics to improve his communication skills and effectiveness in politics.

“At the JHS level, it was very clear to me I wanted to be a politician and I developed an appetite for reading about political leaders. My father bought me an encyclopedia and installed the Encarta encyclopedia. Rawlings was my ideal, I started following him and took interest in freedom fighters.

In university, I initially studied Environmental Science, which wasn’t my passion. I began engaging in partisan politics at KNUST, and after completing my first degree, I pursued law and later studied economics to enhance my communication skills.

He also reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to serving the NDC and advocating for the interests of the Ghanaian people.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted at a potential impeachment of the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, following her recommendation of five judges for appointment to the Supreme Court.

Speaking to journalists, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, condemned the Chief Justice’s actions as “self-seeking” and unconstitutional.

He criticized her for allegedly overstepping her bounds by recommending specific judges to President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, rather than merely requesting additional justices.

Sammy Gyamfi accused the Chief Justice of bias, suggesting that her nominations favored individuals she could collaborate with closely at the Supreme Court. He emphasized the NDC’s discontent with what they perceive as a lack of transparency and fairness in the judicial appointments process.

“We believe this move undermines judicial independence and seeks to shield the government from accountability post-tenure,” Gyamfi asserted during an interview on JoyNews.

The Chief Justice’s nominations, including Justices Angelina Mensah Homiah, Eric Kyei Baffour, Edward Amoako Asante, Cyra Pamela C.A. Koranteng, and Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, were submitted in a letter dated May 30, 2024. This sparked immediate backlash from the NDC, which claimed the Judicial Council had initially opposed the elevation of these judges but was allegedly overruled.

In response to criticisms, the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, defended the Chief Justice, asserting that her actions were lawful and within her mandate.

However, Sammy Gyamfi remained adamant, stating that the NDC would pursue legal avenues, including potential impeachment proceedings against the Chief Justice.

“We consider this a clear grounds for resignation or removal from office. At the appropriate time, we will activate the necessary constitutional processes,” Sammy Gyamfi declared.

He expressed concerns over the perceived lack of consultation and the potential exclusion of equally competent judges from consideration, raising doubts about the Chief Justice’s decision-making process.

“We know there are other equally competent justices who could serve on the Supreme Court. By what criteria were these particular names put forward?” Gyamfi questioned.

When pressed on the timeline for impeachment proceedings, Gyamfi indicated it would be pursued under a future administration that respects constitutional norms and transparency.

“At present, we have a president who selectively acts on petitions. Our course of action will depend on having a president who upholds constitutional values,” Gyamfi concluded.

The Volta/Oti youth group has criticized the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi for spreading falsehood.

In a flashback video the Volta/Oti Youth group tweeted Gyamfi being rebuked for similar actions on Kwame Sefa Kayi’s program, highlighting what they see as hypocrisy in his reaction.

The video came with the caption and “@SammyGyamfi_is already reaping the fruits of the lies he told against others.”

This comes amidst several speculations about the politician living a lavish lifestyle which Sammy Gyamfi vehemently denied.

Ignore Sarkodie’s wife’s comments on Tema Port sale – Sammy Gyamfi

National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has publicly criticized Tracy Owusu Addo, wife of rapper Sarkodie, over her comments on the ownership of the Tema Port.

Gyamfi dismissed claims that former President John Dramani Mahama sold the Tema Port to a foreign entity.

He clarified that the arrangement was a Build Operate Transfer (B.O.T) agreement.

This agreement allowed a company to finance the port’s expansion and development, manage it for 15 years, and then transfer full control back to the government.

Gyamfi emphasized that this strategy was adopted to save government funds for other developmental projects, which would help alleviate citizens’ hardships.

“I recently heard Sarkodie’s wife displaying ignorance about why Mahama would sell Tema Port. However, Build Operate and Transfer (B.O.T) is not equivalent to selling a port. It’s a financial strategy for government projects that avoids upfront expenditure. The company in question was initially granted a 20-year concession by Kufuor’s administration in 2004.

“With this backdrop, Mahama negotiated for them to use their finances to enhance the port, and by 2030, after 15 years, the state will regain ownership. Currently, the state still retains a percentage. It’s important to clarify this due to the misinformation circulating,” he explained in Twi during an interview with Adom TV.

This clarification came in response to Tracy Owusu Addo’s comments on the impounded Global Fund donation of essential health supplies at the Tema Port. Her statements, intended as an informal explanation, quickly gained a political dimension.

Tracy’s commentary suggested that the government holds only a 15% stake in the Tema Port, with a French billionaire controlling the facility.

She linked a 2021 Africa Confidential report titled: “SPECIAL REPORT: How Vincent Bollor won control of Ghana’s biggest port,” which further fueled the debate.

Reactions to her post were mixed, with some supporting and others criticizing her perspective.

I will sue instigators of Miami trip claims – Sammy Gyamfi

The Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has declared his intention to take legal action against individuals responsible for spreading false allegations about his purported trip to Miami with his wife.

This follows widespread reports and a viral video suggesting Mr. Gyamfi used party funds for a lavish trip to Miami, which he vehemently denies.

Speaking on Adom TV, Mr. Gyamfi dismissed the allegations as ‘ridiculous and baseless’, providing evidence of his activities during the claimed period, such as attending funerals and organizing party events.

He clarified that the video in question likely dates back to a previous trip after his marriage, not a recent visit to Miami.

Mr. Gyamfi has stated his readiness to pursue legal recourse against those responsible for disseminating the misleading information.

“These are just lies from demented minds. At the time they wrote the story, they wrote the story I believe Friday or Saturday. Saturday I was at Mawuena Trebarh’s funeral, Sunday I was at Suame for our regional organiser’s mother’s funeral, even on Wednesday I was in Accra here for hosting NDC 360 and was in the High Court on Thursday with Dr Ato Forson. So when was I in Miami and that NDC had given me 42,000 dollars? So it’s just ridiculous, just purely nonsensical.”

“This is just foolishness because I’ve never been to the hotel they are talking about, I know nothing about that hotel. I’ve never stayed in Miami for two weeks. I’ve been in Miami a couple of times just like other States in the US, including Miami a couple of times.”

“The video circulating has been cut from one of my past trips to Miami with my wife, I believe the immediate aftermath of my marriage. How that can be an issue to a group of people shows how frustrated they are and how fixated they are with Sammy Gyamfi, because I’m not paid by the government so how does my trip with my wife for a break an issue to you?”

“But you know what, there are certain things that you allow to pass because of the nature of our jobs and the fact that we cannot find time for certain things. Some of the people circulating the video, is really they will not even know you.

“These are some unemployed NPP foot soldiers who have been paid to do that so you cannot even hold them responsible however, there are some people who will be taking on relative to this matter and the issues will be settled in court.”

Sammy Gyamfi has irreparably damaged Mahama’s already floundering campaign – Anyidoho

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has launched scathing criticism against the party’s Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi, accusing him of severely harming the reputation and electoral prospects of the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama.

In a social media post, Anyidoho condemned Gyamfi for what he perceives as actions detrimental to Mahama’s political campaign.

Without specifying details or presenting evidence, Anyidoho referenced a video showing Gyamfi and his wife spending time together, suggesting it as evidence of mismanagement and lavish spending of party funds.

“When I warned them about the signs, they sent their minions to insult me. JM and his family nurtured this individual who is now causing their downfall. This man has irreparably damaged JM’s already struggling campaign. I have no sympathy for JM. The true betrayers will soon be exposed,” Anyidoho wrote.

Sammy Gyamfi has faced allegations from some NDC members of misusing party funds allocated to the communications office.

A video circulating purportedly shows Gyamfi and his wife enjoying a luxurious trip to Miami, Florida, where they stayed at the prestigious Betsy Hotel South Beach, known for its lavish amenities and high-end services.

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has accused the party’s Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi, of damaging the reputation of the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama.

In a post on X, he berated Mr Gyamfi for allegedly damaging Mr Mahama’s political campaign. Mr Anyidoho did not indicate the exact reasons for his claim. Neither did he provide evidence to back his claim except a video where Mr Gyamfi and his wife are seen spending time together.

“When I was seeing the signs & warning them, they organized urchins to be insulting me. JM & his family created this monster who is now eating them up. This guy has irreparably damaged JMs already floundering campaign. I shed no tears for JM. We shall soon know the real traitors,” he wrote.

Sammy Gyamfi, has been accused a section of members of the NDC of blowing party cash meant for the communications office.

In a video he is seen with the wife, the duo are said to have embarked on a lavish trip to Miami, Florida, where they are seen treating themselves to good and expensive wines and food whose prices are mind-blowing.

Sammy Gyamfi and his wife are believed to have lodged at the famous Betsy Hotel, South Beach, a 5-star hotel, located on the vibrant Miami Beach. This luxurious property offers a range of top-notch facilities including a fitness centre, a snack bar, a sun terrace, and a concierge service.

Asiedu Nketia sat at the CID’s office for over 6 hours – Sammy Gyamfi on ‘fight’ to get Naa Koryoo released

The Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has fought claims that the party’s Chairman abandoned party supporters that were present at the Cantonments Police Station in Accra, demanding the release of Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the party’s parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya East in the Central Region.

Former Deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has slammed the Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia for allegedly abandoning party folks.

Okunor’s detention on Friday evening sparked widespread outrage among NDC members and sympathizers.

Following her arrest, the party’s flagbearer condemned the police action and called for her immediate release to maintain national stability.

Sammy Gyamfi, the party’s National Communications Officer, urged party members to assemble at the Cantonments Police Station to protest the detention.

The demonstrators, clad in the party’s colors and chanting slogans supporting Okunor, expressed their anger at what they perceive as an unjust and politically motivated arrest.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor

Engaging the supporters, Mr Nketia, in a video shared by Mr Anyidoho expressed his frustration over the police to make known details on the arrest of Naa Koryoo who detained after an order from above.

He noted that he told the officers that he is leaving Deputy Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mustapha Gbande in charge and would not be held responsible for what takes place after his absence.

Reacting to this, Mr Anyidoho in a post on X wrote, “How does a general lead people to battle and tell them that he is abandoning them and will not be responsible for anything that happens to them?”

But engaging the media after her release on Saturday morning, Mr Gyamfi noted that Mr Asiedu Nketia was at the CID office engaging the authorities for over 6 hours throughout the night.

Former President John Mahama issued a statement alleging that the Inspector General of Police, George Dampare, ordered the detention under the instructions of National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah. He suggested this move was intended to intimidate the NDC candidate in her campaign against the incumbent Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hawa Koomson, in the upcoming elections.

Mahama warned that such actions could heighten political tensions and threaten national peace and stability ahead of the crucial 2024 elections. He demanded Okunor’s immediate release and called on the police and government to uphold justice and fairness.

The police station was heavily guarded, with law enforcement officers present to maintain order.

You arrest Naa Koryoo for wielding a registered gun but leave Hawa Koomson who fired a gun – Sammy Gyamfi slams Police

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned the Ghana Police Service for allegedly detaining the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

According to Mr. Gyamfi, the police have not provided any reason for the arrest and subsequent detention of Madam Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

In a social media post, he criticized the development as an attempt to silence the NDC.

Giving more details, Sammy Gyamfi explained that, “Her offense is simply that a weapon (gun) was found in her car. The said weapon is registered in her name. All the necessary registration documents have been submitted to the Police.

“Unlike, Hawa Koomson who in 2020 actually fired a gun at a registration center, Naa Koryoo has not fired any gun or weapon. Yet, the …Police service is hellbent on detaining her.”

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Ghana Police Service announced that three individuals were arrested at Ofaakor for possessing a firearm without lawful authority.

The suspects, including Ms. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, Mustapha Mohammed, and Abdul Aziz Musah, were apprehended while traveling in a Honda CRV with registration number GX-2044-19 near the Electoral Commission Office at Ofaakor.

During the arrest, a pump-action gun with four rounds of ammunition was seized from the vehicle.

Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya East,

In an interview on Wednesday, June 5, Ms. Okunor clarified that she was invited by the police rather than formally arrested.

She stressed that the firearm found in her car was legally licensed and explained that she obtained it for self-protection against the incumbent NPP MP and Minister for Fisheries, Hawa Koomson.

Ms. Okunor claimed that the police had failed to protect her during previous altercations, where the MP allegedly attacked her and even fired gunshots.

“I have never been arrested. Yes, I was invited to the police station. I was not arrested. I was there because I had to go there.

“My driver was arrested, and my security guard was arrested because a licensed gun was found in my car…It was far away from the registration centre,” she said.

Prior to the arrest related to firearm possession, a clash between NDC and NPP supporters occurred at the EC’s office in Ofaakor during the ongoing votes transfer exercise.

This altercation resulted in the stabbing of Ato Koomson, son of the incumbent MP and Minister for Fisheries, Hawa Koomson, who was subsequently hospitalized. The suspect involved in the stabbing has also been arrested and detained.

It remains unclear whether the subsequent arrest of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate is connected to the stabbing incident or solely pertains to the firearm possession charge.

  • Ambulance case: Some decisions made by trial judge are unlawful in my opinion – Sammy Gyamfi

Ambulance case: Some decisions made by trial judge are unlawful in my opinion – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, praised the trial judge for providing a thorough judgment in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial involving Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and the third accused, Richard Jakpa.

However, Mr. Gyamfi also expressed reservations about certain decisions made by the judge, stating that the NDC does not agree with them.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, June 6, the NDC Communications Officer said; “As a student of law, as a lawyer interested in the development of the law, I am excited and it is something that we need to encourage.

“Now as to the certain decisions that the trial judge made, which in our opinion were totally wrong because those decisions are not borne out by the law and the fact that were before her,” he said.

His remark follows the High Court Judge, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, recommending that the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, step down from the ambulance procurement case due to accusations of professional and prosecutorial misconduct.

According to JoyNews’ Latif Iddrisu, Mr. Dame rose to explain himself, but the judge held firm in her position.

This decision came after separate motions filed by the first accused, Dr. Forson, and the third accused, Richard Jakpa.

The motions sought various orders, including an investigation into the Attorney-General’s conduct, citing Jakpa’s allegations that the Attorney-General had been contacting him at unusual hours.

However, the judge declared that the request for an inquiry into the Attorney-General’s behavior in the ongoing ambulance case lacked merit.

In response, Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that the NDC disagrees with the judge on several rulings.

Addressing the issue of mistrial, where the judge indicated she found no legal grounds to grant the relief the applicants sought, Mr. Gyamfi commented, “It is one of the points we disagree with the trial judge on.”

“We think that the court had the jurisdiction and the power to make an order for mistrial or an order for an inquiry into the conduct of the Attorney-General.”

He contended that according to Article 140 of the Constitution, the High Court, within the limits set by the Constitution, holds authority over all criminal and civil cases.

He emphasized that once such authority has been granted to the High Court, unless there exists a specific law that explicitly removes the court’s jurisdiction to issue orders for mistrial or inquiry, the NDC holds the view that the court possesses that inherent jurisdiction.

“You have the jurisdiction in all criminal matters and so in hearing a criminal matter, the court has the responsibility to ensure that these processes are not abused and the rights of the accused persons are respected and the prosecution is done in good faith,” he said.

The NDC Communications Officer further stated that when issues are presented to the court indicating a breach of prosecutorial conduct by the Attorney General, these should be the concerns the court focuses on, emphasizing that the court exists to ensure justice.

  • Sammy Gyamfi disputes Court’s interpretation of his remarks in ambulance case

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, acknowledges a general warning from a judge at the Accra High Court, emphasizing the need to moderate political discourse regarding an ongoing trial.

Mr Gyamfi, however, maintains that the judge’s specific warning to him regarding a recent statement in the case of Ato Forson versus The State was a misinterpretation of his remarks.

“In principle, the caution of the court was in order, we, in the NDC agree with it, that is why from the outset, we in the NDC have been very circumspect in what we say and have ensured that the court is not in any way or form scandalized,” he said earlier this week.

Justice Afia Asare-Botwe addressing the court on May 28, 2024, expressed discomfort with Gyamfi’s remarks suggesting that “if somebody can call an accused person without his lawyer, then that person can call a judge.”

Gyamfi clarified his statement in the courtroom, affirming that he did not specifically mention the judge overseeing the case or her tribunal.

“I think the particular reference to me was something that in my humble opinion the court got wrong. I took the opportunity to draw the court’s attention was not about this court or the presiding judge in this trial,” he told pressmen outside the court.

A-G Godfred Dame faces mounting pressure to step down following the release of an audio clip purportedly capturing a conversation between him and an accused individual in the ambulance procurement trial.

In the recording, Jakpa, the third defendant, engages in various discussions with Dame, with some portions suggesting Dame may be coaching Jakpa to incriminate the first defendant, Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister.

Forson and Jakpa stand accused of causing a €2.37 million financial loss to the state through a contract to purchase 200 ambulances between 2014 and 2016.

They are charged with willfully causing financial loss to the state, abetment, violating the Public Procurement Act, and intentionally misusing public funds, to which they have entered not guilty pleas.

Sammy Gyamfi provides date, time, call duration on Jakpa-A-G recording

The National Communications Officer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi, has disclosed that the party has more damning evidence of out-of-court interactions between the Attorney-General (A-G) and an accused person in a high-profile financial crimes trial.

A-G Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa, the third accused person in the ambulance purchase trial were captured in an audio published earlier this week by the NDC, as evidence of the A-G’s unethical conduct.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has defended the A-G, describing the NDC’s 16-minute audio as fake and pieced together.

Sammy Gyamfi insists that the NPP are taking Ghanaians for fools with their flip-flops on the tape.

Speaking on the Thursday, May 30, 2024 edition of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme, he gave details of the audio, which was a telephone call between the two persons (Dame and Japka).

He spoke about the date and time it was recorded while confirming that the recording was done by Jakpa.

Gyamfi also disclaimed the A-G spokesperson’s claim that Dame met Jakpa without his lawyer because at the time of the meeting, the accused did not have a substantive lawyer.

He gave the following new details about the tape:

    a. It was recorded on April 9, 2024.

    b. The call was placed by A-G Dame to Jakpa, hours before the accused was to appear in court.

    c. The call was placed at 7:12 am and lasted for 26 minutes in total.

Regarding Jakpa not having legal representation during their conversation, Gyamfi emphasized that the available records indicated Jakpa had engaged the services of Thaddeus Sory at the time. He stressed that even if Dame had approached him regarding plea bargain matters, it should have been done through legal counsel.

In the meantime, Jakpa has filed an application with the Accra High Court, urging for the dismissal of the charges brought against him by the state or a halt to the proceedings, citing the conduct of the Attorney-General.

    What Sammy Gyamfi said:

The Attorney-General deceived, akin to a thief caught unaware of the evidence against them, confessing prematurely.

We informed them of our evidence, so they anticipated a tape, assuming it would implicate them in the Supreme Court judge’s residence, featuring Jakpa and the Attorney-General, hence their preemptive action.

Therefore, we resolved to outsmart them, withholding that particular tape deliberately, as we possess many more. Their subsequent actions contradicted their initial deceit, assuming everyone to be naive.

We held our press conference, presenting evidence of a recorded phone conversation initiated by the Attorney-General himself.

On April 9, 2024, he made a call at 7:12 am to Mr. Jakpa, the same day Jakpa was scheduled to testify in court.

Some claim Jakpa lacked legal representation, but that’s inaccurate; he was represented by Thaddeus Sory. Yet, the Attorney-General conversed with him for 26 minutes, a conversation Jakpa recorded when it veered into criminal territory, which we have made public.

Don’t cast a slur on the judiciary – Judge warns Sammy Gyamfi amid Ambulance trial

During the trial of Republic v Ato Forson & Richard Jakpa & Anor, an incident occurred involving Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which led to a stern warning from Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe.

Sammy Gyamfi was called to approach the Bench, but Justice Asare Botwe redirected him to the dock, where she questioned him about his conduct during a previous court session. She noted a difference in his demeanor inside and outside the courtroom, referring to his behavior during political speeches.

Lawyers for Dr. Ato Forson clarified the timing of Gyamfi’s entrance to the courtroom, following which Gyamfi made comments to the press about the proceedings. Satisfied with the timing, Justice Asare Botwe discharged Gyamfi from the dock.

The judge then addressed both parties and counsel, warning them against making prejudicial comments on the case. She reminded them of the need for responsible statements, particularly in relation to the reputation of the court.

Gyamfi attempted to clarify a statement he was alleged to have made, but Justice Asare Botwe emphasized the importance of respect for the court. She instructed Gyamfi to be more responsible in his statements, emphasizing that lawyers should not engage in disrespectful behavior towards the Bench.

The court adjourned to the 4th of June, 2024, after which Justice Asare Botwe instructed Deputy Attorney General Dr. Bassit, learned Tuah Yeboah, Mrs. Marrietta Oppong, and Mr. Sammy Gyamfi to report to her chambers.

    Background

The incident stemmed from comments made by Sammy Gyamfi during a press conference on the 23rd of May, where he sought to impugn the integrity of the Attorney General following claims made by Richard Jakpa, the second accused in the Ato Forson trial, that the Attorney General sought his cooperation in convicting Dr. Ato Forson.

NDC attack dogs like Suhuyini, Sammy Gyamfi should refrain from attacking my personality – Martin Amidu warns

Former Special Prosecutor Martin A. B. K. Amidu has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership, including prominent figures Alhassan Suhuyini and Sammy Gyamfi, of launching a targeted smear campaign against him.

Amidu claims these attacks, led by NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, are based on unverified allegations about a petition he allegedly submitted for the removal of the current Special Prosecutor.

Amidu expressed his bewilderment over the situation, questioning why NDC leader and flagbearer John Dramani Mahama would initiate such an aggressive campaign against him.

“What has really baffled me, and which is what I have been trying to understand, is the reason for which John Dramani Mahama, who is the leader and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has unleashed his NDC attack dogs such as Alhassan Suhuyini, Sammy Gyamfi, and to crown it all, the Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, on me since 17 May 2024,” Amidu stated in a release on May 26.

The controversy centers around a purported petition dated April 30, 2024, allegedly calling for the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. Amidu has challenged the authenticity of this document, claiming it lacks proper verification.

“I cannot understand why the NDC will collaborate with Kissi Agyebeng’s preferred rented media house and his chief executioner, Sampson Lardy Anyenini, to make allegations against me without publishing the alleged petition on which the allegations are based to provide me the opportunity to confirm or deny my signature and rebut or admit the accusations,” he said.

Amidu also questioned the role of the Chief Justice in this matter, casting doubt on the legitimacy of a document attributed to her. He outlined several inconsistencies and procedural errors that led him to believe the document might be a forgery.

“I have every reason to question the authenticity of the document attributed to the Chief Justice because I established with mathematical precision with the assistance of information and communication technologies (ICT) that a Joint Statement published at the instance of Kissi Agyebeng as a Joint Statement by the OSP and the Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) was a forgery by the OSP,” Amidu asserted.

Furthermore, Amidu criticized the media’s handling of the allegations, particularly targeting Joy FM for what he perceives as biased reporting.

“Joy FM and the NDC have refused or failed to publish the letter from the Presidency to the Chief Justice or the alleged petition for purposes of authentication to enable a reasoned response from me as the Joy FM’s accused in its trial in the court of public opinion,” he argued.

Amidu concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to fighting corruption and defending the 1992 Constitution, despite the personal attacks and public scrutiny.

“I will continue to defend the 1992 Constitution against all greedy bastards abusing the rights of citizens under the guise of law enforcement,” he declared.

You deserve a 5-year ban from voting – Sammy Gyamfi tells Ahiagbah

National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has criticized Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communication for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), suggesting that he should have faced prosecution for his participation in the 2020 general election.

Gyamfi alleged that Ahiagbah committed a crime by voting in the 2020 election despite his name not being on the voters’ register, and furthermore, he publicly admitted to this offense. He emphasized that electoral laws in the country explicitly prohibit individuals from voting if their names are not listed on the voters’ register.

“This is a very serious matter. It doesn’t only border on the commission of a crime; it borders on a confession by Richard Ahiagbah that he has committed a crime… Voter registration in Ghana is governed by law. You cannot engage in registration and voting per your own whims and caprices.

“He himself has confessed to voting in the 2020 elections, both the presidential and parliamentary, when his name was not on the voters’ register. He said that he turned up at the polling station to vote on 7th December 2020, but his name was not on the register. In Ghana, you can’t vote in any public elections unless your name is on the voters’ register,” the NDC national communications officer said during a panel discussion on the Good Morning Ghana programme on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

He added, “If you check regulation 32 of CI 127, this is what it says: ‘(1) A polling assistant may, before delivering a ballot paper to a person who is to vote at the election, require that person to produce a voter identification card in order to establish that the person is the registered voter whose name and voter identification number and particulars appear in the register. (2) In the absence of a voter identification card, the polling assistant shall identify the name and particulars of the voter as recorded in the Names Reference List… If your name is not on the register, then it means there is no remedy for you; it means your card cannot be authenticated. It is useless. You are not entitled to vote.’”

Sammy Gyamfi said that the law states that Ahiagbah should have been imprisoned and/or fined and banned from voting for five years after serving his sentence.

    Background:

Richard Ahiagbah confirmed claims that, despite possessing a legal voter identification card that was granted to him upon completing his voter registration in 2020, his name was not on the register when he went to cast his ballot in an interview with Accra-based Neat FM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

“I voted in the 2020 election. You have to ask officials of the EC why I was able to vote even though my name was not on the register.

“Because I have a voter’s ID card which bears my name. I got it in 2020 when we were asked to register for a new voters’ register. I have the card, and it has the polling station number where I have always been voting,” he said in the Twi dialect.

He added, “I went to queue to vote on 7th December 2020, and when it got to my turn, the officials said my name was not on the register. So, I asked why my details were not on the register and showed them my documents.”

The NPP communications director added that the EC official on election day agreed that he should be allowed to vote, but he does not know why they allowed him to vote even though his name was not on the voters’ register.

In an interview with Accra-based Neat FM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Richard Ahiagbah affirmed that despite possessing a valid voter identification card issued to him after completing his registration in 2020, his name was absent from the voter register when he attempted to cast his vote.

A-G is plotting to jail Ato Forson – Sammy Gyamfi on Ambulance case

The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has alleged that the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, is plotting to imprison the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, by all means.

Sammy Gyamfi made this claim following revelations during the cross-examination of the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, in the ongoing ambulance case on Thursday, May 23.

In a statement to the media after Thursday’s court session, Mr. Gyamfi revealed the efforts being made by the A-G, including contacting the third accused person at unusual hours, all in an attempt to obtain incriminating testimony against the Minority Leader.

“We have times without number explained why we think that Hon Ato Forson is innocent. And that this case is needless. The minority leader has opened his case and closed it. Currently, the 3rd accused is being cross-examined by lawyers for a minority leader who is the first accused.

“We were all in court to monitor the proceedings, but we were shocked to the marrow when the 3rd accused under cross-examination disclosed to the court that the Hon Attorney General has been reaching out to him, calling him over the phone that he has reached out to him and met him in person.

“That the Attorney-General has been asking to give false testimony to the court and skew his testimony in such a way that corroborates the AG, against the first accused so that the first accused can be convicted and jailed. He said this in open court.”

  • Ambulance case : AG wants to adopt every means to imprison Ato Forson – NDC

National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi has shockingly revealed details of how the Attorney General, Godfred Dame is scheming to jail the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson at all cost.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, this emerged during the cross examination of the third accused person, Richard Jakpa during the continuation of the ambulance case today.

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made startling claims about Attorney General Godfred Dame’s alleged efforts to ensure the imprisonment of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Gyamfi asserted that these revelations came to light during the cross-examination of Richard Jakpa, the third accused, in the ongoing ambulance case.

Speaking to the press after the court session, Gyamfi detailed the Attorney General’s alleged attempts, including contacting Jakpa at odd hours, to secure testimony that could incriminate Dr. Ato Forson.

Speaking to the media moments after today’s court proceedings, Mr Gyamfi disclosed the overtures being made by the AG and the calls to the third accused person at odd hours all in an attempt to get incriminating testimony against the Minority Leader.

“…He[third accused] said this in open court and asked that it should be put on record and Her Ladyship directed that same should be captured by the record. So what we are talking about is something which is on record. We as a political party are totally scandalized and disgusted by this development.

“But we are not surprised because we have always known that this is the stock in trade of Godfred Yeboah Dame. This is not a man who is interested in Justice or the rule of Law. This is not a man who is an Attorney General and Minister For Justice.

This is a devious character with no honour whatsoever, no respect for justice, no respect for the rule of law and the rights of accused persons and who always goes about manipulating judicial processes to get his way at all cost and so we are not surprised that today, his sins have found him out. We are not surprised today that his cup is full, we are not surprised that today, his day of reckoning has come.”

Sammy Gyamfi added: “He has been doing this over and over again and we have had cause to lament this to the media and the good people of this country time and again. You have been asking for evidence, here is your evidence. Godfred Dame is not the Minister of Justice but Minister for Injustice. He is not interested in the rule of law, but interested in persecuting innocent people.

He is interested in bending the law to have his way at all cost, and if he can go to a witness and seek to influence the witness to coerce the witness to testify in a manner that will help him achieve his aim, then he is capable of talking to a Judge, a Registrar or any officer of the court to have his way.

A dollar crossing GHC20, It Is Possible – Sammy Gyamfi jabs Bawumia

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has taken a jab at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), using his own campaign slogan “IT IS POSSIBLE.”

In a Facebook post on Friday, May 17, Gyamfi highlighted several perceived failures of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, framing them within the context of Bawumia’s “IT IS POSSIBLE” slogan.

Gyamfi stated, “Folks, one profound campaign message of the NPP and Alhaji Bawumia that I agree with, is their campaign slogan, ‘IT IS POSSIBLE’. This is because:

    1. IT IS POSSIBLE for one dollar to cross GH¢20 under the watch of Bawumia, having increased from GH¢4 in 2016 to over GH¢15 already.
    2. IT IS POSSIBLE for the rate of unemployment to cross 20% under the watch of Bawumia, having increased from 8.4% in 2016 to 14.7% already.
    3. IT IS POSSIBLE for the price of a gallon of petrol to cross GH¢100 under the watch of Bawumia, having increased from GH¢14 in 2016 to over GH¢68 already.
    4. IT IS POSSIBLE for the public debt to cross GH¢1 trillion under the watch of Bawumia, having increased from GH¢120 billion in 2016 to over GH¢630 billion already.
    5. IT IS POSSIBLE for Ghana to lose over $10 billion to corruption under the watch of Bawumia, having lost $2 billion dollars through the stinking PDS scandal he personally orchestrated.
    6. IT IS POSSIBLE for deceptive Bawumia to hoodwink some unsuspecting Ghanaians with his plagiarized promises to scrap the E-Levy, Bet levy, and the emissions levy, having failed to move the nation from taxation to production.
    7. And oh, IT IS POSSIBLE for Bawumia to deceive drivers with his promise to provide them with electric cars, having failed to deliver the concrete roads he promised them in 2017.”

Mr Gyamfi concluded his post by stating, “Indeed, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE!!! #Bawuliar is spot on on this one.”
