Salam Mustapha calls out Afua Asantewaa for ‘falsehood and ingratitude

National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has publicly criticized Afua Asantewaa, accusing her of spreading falsehoods and showing ingratitude towards those who supported her efforts.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Mustapha alleged that Asantewaa has repeatedly downplayed the contributions of individuals and organizations that backed her initiatives.

According to him, despite receiving substantial financial and logistical assistance, she has continued to portray herself as having been abandoned.

“This is not the first time she’s twisting facts to fit a particular narrative,” Mustapha stated. “We all rallied behind her, yet she chooses to disregard the efforts made to help her succeed.”

Mustapha further revealed that various stakeholders, including government officials and private sponsors, extended their support to Asantewaa, but she has failed to acknowledge their contributions.

“It’s disappointing to see someone who was given resources and encouragement turn around and claim she was left on her own. This level of ingratitude is unacceptable,” he added.

His comments have sparked mixed reactions among the public, with some defending Asantewaa while others agree that acknowledging support is essential. Meanwhile, Asantewaa is yet to respond to Mustapha’s claims.

Re-electing Mahama will lead Ghana to ruin – Salam Mustapha

The Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned that the re-election of John Mahama and his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, would spell disaster for Ghana.

In a press conference held in the Upper East Region, Salam Mustapha, the NPP National Youth Organiser, criticized Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyeman for their previous policies, which he claims were detrimental to the youth.

He pointed to the cancellation of the teacher trainee allowance as a prime example of their poor governance.

Mustapha also noted that Mahama’s defeats in the 2016 and subsequent elections reflect a widespread rejection of his leadership by Ghanaians.

“Ask yourselves, from Kwame Nkrumah to Akufo-Addo, how come John Dramani Mahama was the only leader in our nation’s history who was rejected by Ghanaian voters when he went for re-election? Indeed, ask yourself how come he has been rejected twice since Ghanaians tasted him both as a vice president and as president?,”’ Salam Mustapha queried Ghanaian youth during the press conference.

He noted that, despite having substantial resources, Mahama’s administration led the country into issues such as dumsor (power outages).

“He inherited an oil-rich economy and without any global crisis to deal with he created his own crisis…Schools did not even have common chalk! The situation was hopeless. The leader himself was rudderless and inept.

“We witnessed his shambolic performance as president which saw your parents losing their jobs or customers because of dumsor. Yes, four years of President John Mahama was four years of dumsor,” Mustapha stated.

The NPP Youth Organiser also criticized the NDC running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman.

“It wasn’t John Mahama alone that was hopeless in office, but his running mate too. Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was equally if not more inept…Madam Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang supervised the monstrous heart-breaking 3-month pay policy, where teachers worked for 3 years and only got paid 3 months.

“This was how mean she was. She supervised the cancellation of the teacher training allowance, forced universities to pay their own utilities, and could not provide common chalk for basic schools,” Mustapha said.

He cautioned Ghanaian youth against voting for Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, arguing that, according to him, their return to power would be detrimental to the country’s future, the “duo portend doom for our country and gloom for the youth who we should be preparing for the fourth industrial revolution.”

  • NDC adopting ideas we’ve already proposed – NPP

NDC adopting ideas we’ve already proposed – NPP

The National Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for allegedly adopting NPP policies as their own.

His comments were in response to the NDC’s recent promise to cover tuition fees for all first-year tertiary students if they are elected into office.

Mustapha argues that this idea was initially put forward by the NPP, and the NDC is now attempting to present it as their own initiative.

“They are taking from some of our policies and adding them to theirs. Bawumia said something in the past, and now they are also saying the same thing. I don’t have a problem if it’s going to help Ghana, which is what we are looking for,” he said.

During a Tuesday interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mustapha expressed skepticism about the NDC’s ability to follow through on their promise.

He mentioned that the Ghana Student Loan Trust already exists to address such financial needs, implying that the NDC’s proposal is neither groundbreaking nor innovative.

He further criticized the NDC’s plan, suggesting that it might be more about winning votes than genuine concern for students.

“But if you didn’t initiate something yourself, it is very difficult to implement it, and that is the problem with the NDC. If they are giving a loan to students to pay their fees, then everyone can go for a loan to pay their fees.

“There is the Ghana Student Loan Trust, so it is not a new thing. This seems like a vote-buying gimmick because they don’t have any genuine intention. There is no integrity in the things that they say,” he added.

  • Cut off my head if NPP doesn’t win 2024 elections – Salam Mustapha

Cut off my head if NPP doesn’t win 2024 elections – Salam Mustapha

National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has asserted his unwavering belief that the party will retain power in the upcoming 2024 general election, going so far as to challenge for his head to be chopped off if they fail to win.

In a viral video Salam Mustapha, who was speaking at an event to party faithful, expressed his absolute confidence that the NPP will secure victory on December 7.

“We are not losing the election; let nobody try to convince you NPP is going to lose. I am telling you, if we lose this election, I keep on telling people, ‘cut off my head.’ That is the level of my confidence going into that election,” he stated.

Mustapha’s conviction is rooted in the NPP’s numerical advantage over the main opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly in the party’s stronghold of the Ashanti Region.

“Greater Kumasi alone, just 11 constituencies cancel about five-six regions. If we take the 47 constituencies, it cancels about eight regions out, and still, there is change. In 2020, the NDC had about 600,000 votes in Ashanti Region, which is more than what they got in their own Volta Region. Numbers; that is why I keep saying we need to keep paying attention to the numbers. If we drop the NDC votes in Ashanti Region and the NPP is able to hit 75%, this election is done. So when I look at the numbers; when I study the trend analysis, nobody can convince me NPP is going to lose the elections in December; we are not losing the election.

“We are not going to lose; there are people who think that NPP is done; we have lost. Check the polls; the NPP is gaining, and the NDC is dropping. Last year or early this year, they said they were going to win the election with 58%, and I told someone these people are mad. It is true, the NDC can never win an election with even 52%; they don’t have the numbers. You can quote me anywhere, and any day I will defend it…” he expressed.

The 2024 general election is expected to be a fierce contest between the NPP and the NDC as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo completes his second term.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, has chosen former energy minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as his running mate.

They will face former President John Dramani Mahama and former Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on the NDC side.

  • NDC can never win election with over 58% in this country; I’ll commit suicide – Salam Mustapha

NDC can never win election with over 58% in this country; I’ll commit suicide – Salam Mustapha

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha made bold assertions regarding the electoral prospects of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mustapha’s remarks were notably daring and focused on the potential outcomes of the upcoming general elections.

During the interview, Mustapha confidently stated that there is no conceivable scenario in which the NDC could secure a victory by a significant margin.

He emphasised that historical data and trends strongly support his position, particularly highlighting the performance of current President Nana Akufo-Addo as a benchmark.

According to Mustapha, Akufo-Addo stands out as the only NPP candidate who has managed to achieve a substantial margin of 54% in an election, indicating widespread support for the party under his leadership.

In contrast, Mustapha argued that the NDC has never demonstrated the ability to command such overwhelming numbers at the polls.

In a particularly dramatic declaration, Mustapha asserted that the NDC’s chances of winning an election in Ghana are practically non-existent if they fail to secure a huge margin over 58%.

“The NDC can never win an election in this country over 58%. If they do, I will commit suicide. It’s only Akufo-Addo who has commanded such numbers. There is data to prove my statements,” Salam Mustapha stated.

Mustapha further supported his claims by referencing data that purportedly validates his statements, suggesting that statistical evidence and historical patterns back up his assertions regarding the electoral landscape in Ghana.

Bawumia has better reputation than Mahama in fight against corruption – Salam Mustapha

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has underscored the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s strong anti-corruption stance.

Mustapha argued that Dr. Bawumia’s track record in combating corruption surpasses that of John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He pointed to Dr. Bawumia’s clean reputation both as a technocrat and a politician, contrasting it with what he sees as a different scenario for Mahama.

Mustapha challenged anyone alleging corruption against Dr. Bawumia to provide evidence, highlighting the absence of such accusations against him.

These comments were made during an interview in the Ashanti Region as part of Mustapha’s National Youth Campaign tour.

The tour aims to engage the NPP Youth Wing in readiness for the upcoming limited voter registration exercise organized by the Electoral Commission.

Additionally, it seeks to rally the youth of the region to support the NPP government in their pursuit of the “break the 8 agenda.”

You can’t run your own office; how can you implement a 24-hour economy? – Salam fires Mahama

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha didn’t hold back in criticizing former President Mahama, branding him as the laziest President Ghana has ever experienced.

Mustapha directly questioned Mahama’s competence in managing his personal office, casting doubt on his ability to effectively lead the nation.

“You can’t run your own office but yo want to run a whole country. You are lazy, that’s why your office close by 5pm. How do I know that information because my friend uses your route everyday. You are othe laziest President Ghana has ever had,” Slam Mustapha stated.

Mustapha’s criticism extended to Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, with Mustapha arguing that Mahama’s inefficiencies would hinder the successful implementation of such an ambitious plan.

“You can’t run your own office yet you are talking about a 24-hour economy. You cant;t possibly do it.”

According to Mustapha, Mahama’s office closes promptly at 5 pm, highlighting what he perceives as a lack of commitment and capability to sustain a continuous operational model for the country.

These strong words from the NPP’s National Youth Organizer indicate a significant critique of Mahama’s leadership approach and policy proposals, setting the stage for intensified political discussions leading up to the next elections.

  • Do you have amnesia? Sheer hypocrisy! – Salam Mustapha slams Mahama over ‘One Student, One Tablet’ criticism

Do you have amnesia? Sheer hypocrisy! – Salam Mustapha slams Mahama over ‘One Student, One Tablet’ criticism

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has strongly criticised John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for his remarks on the government’s ‘One-Student-One-Tablet’ initiative.

Mustapha took to social media to express his disapproval of Mahama’s stance, calling for the public to regard such comments with contempt.

Mustapha argued that while the NPP government prioritises the welfare of students as the future of the nation, Mahama views them merely as potential voters in upcoming elections.

He questioned Mahama’s credibility and the NDC’s right to criticise the initiative, reminding them of a similar project implemented during their tenure.

“John Mahama says that the current program to give 1student 1Laptop under the Ghana Smart School Project is an attempt to bribe the SHS students for votes. Such horrible thinking should be treated with scorn and disdain.

“These are SHS students, most of whom have no votes, so as to how it constitutes a bribe attempt beats every imagination. It’s clear to us that in the mind of Sgt Lee, he doesn’t see them as human beings but rather ballot papers,” Mustapha remarked.

“Has John Mahama suddenly developed amnesia too, to forget his own RLG (formerly Roagams Link Ghana Ltd ) project with his bosom friend Roland Agambire? Or is it just sheer hypocrisy or dishonesty?” he questioned.

John Dramani Mahama, speaking at a student forum at Wisconsin University in Accra, criticised the government’s allocation of tablets to high school students, labelling it as a tactic to influence votes.

Mahama argued, “you bring a new curriculum; the children have no textbooks in basic schools for the last four years, and you think that giving pre-tertiary students tablets is more important. Of course, everybody knows the political expediency.”

“The pre-tertiary students are going to register in May because some of them are going to be 18 and above. Some are 18 already, and they are going to be the ones voting. So, this is a gift to entice them to vote for the current government. It’s a bribe for them to vote for this government, but I mean, the students do not exist in isolation. They live in households and families,” Mahama added.

In 2010, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology in Ghana contracted RLG Communications Limited to manufacture and distribute over 103,181 laptops. The NDC government at the time paid GH¢51,257,500.00 for these laptops.

However, RLG was only able to produce 90,448 laptops, leaving a balance of 12,733 pieces worth GH¢6,366,875.00 undelivered. This discrepancy led to violations in the execution of the contract, as highlighted in a 2015 Auditor General’s Report.

As a result, RLG Communications Limited agreed to repay GH¢6 million to the government due to its failure to supply the remaining laptops under the Free Laptop Distribution Programme in 2010.

“Dr Bawumia will not be your chewing stick! Keep his name out of your mouth!” – Salam Mustapha ‘warns’ Hopeson Adorye

The National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Salam Mustapha, has issued a stern warning to Hopeson Adorye, the Director of Special Duties for the Movement for Change, regarding his criticism of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a recent Facebook post, Salam Mustapha condemned what he described as harsh attacks by Hopeson on Dr. Bawumia, who is the NPP’s flagbearer.

Referring to their past association during Hopeson Adorye’s tenure as an NPP member, Salam cautioned that he would not hesitate to set aside their relationship in response to Hopeson’s assaults on Dr. Bawmumia.

“Myself and you have known each other for a very long time, at least since 2011 there about. We have done so many operations together, some were very sensitive. We worked together in the famous Young Patriots team which took on the NDC in those vile days of vitriolic language on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with the likes of the late John Kumah. In short, you know so well.

“Today, my message to you is simple. Take Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia out of your mouth. He will not be your chewing stick. No. He will not. I will put my brotherhood with you aside and we will do it the young patriots way if you attack our Flagbearer again,” excerpts of his post read.

The youth organiser also stated that while he holds respect for the Flagbearer of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, a former senior member of the NPP, he is prepared to reciprocate Hopeson Adorye’s actions.

“You have a presidential candidate, we have not attacked him. It is just out of respect for him but that can be thrown to the dogs. And he will feel taste of the medicine you’re giving to our Flagbearer. You know me, this is the nicest I can be,” he added.

Responding to this, Hopeson Adorye challenged Salam Mustapha, saying “Bring it on my brother.”

Hopeson Adorye recently criticised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his inability to stabilize the Ghana cedi against major trading currencies, despite promising to do so while in opposition.

In a Facebook post on March 25, 2024, he directly targeted Bawumia, remarking, “He was restoring the value of the cedi in 2014 in opposition but cannot restore the value in government.”

NPP will win 2024 election whether rain or shine – Salam Mustapha

The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has stated that the party will emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 elections by all means.

After concluding a three-day tour of the Upper West region, he revealed his observations.

During his visit to constituencies like Nandom, Lambusie, Wa East, and Wa West, he interacted with several youth groups, stressing the significance of backing Dr. Bawumia.

Mustapha reiterated the party’s determination to secure victory in the 2024 elections during discussions with the media.

“By hook or crook, we are going to win the December elections. We are going to campaign like we have never done before and that is why I am extremely confident about our victory and nothing is going to stop it.”

  • Berla Mundi, Naa Ashorkor team up to grill NPP Youth Organiser

Berla Mundi, Naa Ashorkor team up to grill NPP Youth Organiser

Ace broadcaster, Naa Ashorkor Doku-Mensah has teamed up with colleague, Berla Mundi, to grill NPP Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, over comment he made against #OccupyJulorBiHouse protestors in the past three days.

Salam had labeled the protest’s results, along with other initiatives done by civil society organizations to pressure the government into addressing problems plaguing the populace, as “rhetoric” and “bordering on politics” in that statement.

During a live phone interview on the New Day Morning show on Tv3, Berla Mundi responded to Mr. Salam’s remarks and strongly criticized him for characterizing the protest as mere rhetoric without substance.

“Don’t you find that disrespectful to the young people who voted for your president and vice president to come into power. Reason why you also proberly occupy the position that you had occupied even before within the party you began your job as the National Youth Organizer?

“Berla, I don’t know where you’re coming from with the word ‘disrespect’ because there’s no disrespect as far as opinions are concerned. If we express our opinions, you can’t call that disrespect,” he answered.

But disgruntled Naa Ashorkor quickly butts in with her concerns by pointing out the issues Salam had labeled as rhetoric, which included concerns about the Motorway, road repairs, the cost of living, and related matters. She then directly questioned Salam, asking if he personally uses the Accra-Tema Motorway.

“Of course, I do,” he responded, quickly followed by the question, “What is the state of the Motorway in your opinion?”

However, Naa Ashorkor appeared visibly frustrated, her body language clearly conveying her impatience as she rolled up her sleeves in preparation to respond. She interrupted once more:

“If you use the Motorway today, you’ll see that work is ongoing, especially from the interchange being done from the Spintex to East Legon, to the Motorway. So, if you see what we did in 2019 when the second stage was commissioned, we said we’re starting the third phase, which includes the interchange…” he argued.

“OK, let me tell you. I was on the Motorway yesterday and I noticed there is work around the Accra Mall end of the Motorway – before the toll booth. The actual Motorway, which has been the cause of countless accidents over the, I don’t know how many years, I was afraid for my life while I drove on the Motorway yesterday. The potholes are endless. There’s been a constant call by young people, in fact, all Ghanaians, asking for the Motorway to be fixed.

“I do not think that if people are out on the streets, calling for these things to be fixed, that it is okay for you to write a very long letter, calling these things rhetorics bordered on political lines. I do not think that just as you have agreed that the Motorway is bad, you should throw it off as a rhetoric. I also do not think that the many things that who feels it knows it, perhaps because of your position, or because of the experiences you have in your little world, you probably do not experience the things that people out on the streets experience. And because it is their fundamental human right – the freedom of expression, that means that they can say what they feel, in a peaceful protest, I do not think that it is alright for you, for the lack of the same challenges that they’re experiencing, that you don’t experience, I don’t think it’s ok for you to come out to call them rhetoric bordered on political lines.

“I think the least you could have done was to go ahead to mention the achievements of the party, which you did, which is fair, but to downplay, to water down, or to call irrelevant the things that the people are complaining about is a tad bit unfair. And so when Berla asked you earlier whether in hindsight, you would like to reconsider your position, especially in point number 3, I, honestly, expected you to come again, but for you to consistently say that after three days of the protest, you are unable to take home the most salient reason and demand for the protest and consider them as nothing concrete, I beg you to come again. Have you been to Korle-Bu in recent times? Do you not understand the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian?” she stated.

  • NPP National Youth Organiser preaches unity ahead of primaries

NPP National Youth Organiser preaches unity ahead of primaries

National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has called for unity among party members.

He said unity remained the most important element that the Party needs towards Election 2024.

He said with a united front, the Party was assured of a resounding victory in the 2024 elections.

Salam Mustapha was speaking at the Bono Regional Youth Conference and Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) Orientation programme organised by the Regional Youth Wing of the Party in Sunyani.

It was attended by National, Regional, and Constituency executives, the youth wing, TESCON members, and some party faithful across the region.

Mustapha urged the Party members not to be disappointed of things they had not been able to obtain from the Party but must try and leave a legacy by ‘breaking the eight’ for future generations to know that historic achievement was attained in Ghana’s political history during their time.

He noted that if they continued to work together everyone was going to have his/her due reward because the most important thing now was for the Party to claim victory in the upcoming elections.

Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, the NPP Director for External Affairs, reminded the youth about the responsibility ahead to help the Party win next year’s election.

He said the NPP youth wing had a long-standing tradition and anytime the wing was active the Party won an election, saying there was a high responsibility on them going into the 2024 election.

Nana Ayeh urged TESCON members to redefine their role in the Party by spending time to be abreast with the Party’s achievements and programmes and propagating to the people to help it break the eight.

Paul Apraku Twum-Barimah, the Dormaa East Member of Parliament, charged the youth to work hard because the Party was going to rely on them to deliver the mandate in 2024.

Politics does not fix your financial problems – NPP Youth Organiser tells Ghanaians

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised young people against entering politics with the intention of making money.

According to Mr Salam Mustapha, politics  is “hard work” and requires so much sacrifice to the extent that some costs made are not recovered.

He said it is “a difficult enterprise to venture into and young people should not think it’s a quick fix because it’s not.”

“If you go into politics because you want to make money, you’ll be disappointed,” he added.

It is the notion by many that politicians are well to do due to their undertakings. Therefore many have expressed interest in becoming politicians.

On his part, Mr Mustapha explained “he loves politics because it gives him an understanding of human nature and the country in general.”

Born and bred in Tamale among 10 siblings, the NPP National Youth Organiser said he started and completed his primary education in Tamale.

He continued to Tamale SHS, University of Development Studies, and then, to the University of Salford – Manchester, UK.

He’s a Project Management and Development Specialist by profession.

  • Anger by Ghanaians a manifestation NPP is held in higher standards than NDC – Salam Mustapha

National Youth Organiser of governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Salam Mustapha says the widespread disaffection by Ghanaians against government in the wake of heightened economic difficulties is evidence that Ghanaians hold the governing party to high standard as compared to the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC).

Following recent unprecedented hikes in prices of fuel, transportation, food and general cost of living, Ghanaians have expressed displeasure and angst at government as political watchers say the prevailing economic conundrum narrows the chances of the NPP to win the next election.

There have been reports of booing at both the President and Vice President at public functions as a demonstration of disapproval of the management of the economy.

But reacting to the recent booing incidents and general expression of frustration and displeasure amongst Ghanaians, the National Youth Organiser of the ruling party said Ghanaians hold the NPP in high esteem and expect more of the party as compared to the opposition NDC, a reason there is widespread uproar amidst the current economic challenges.

Speaking in an interview on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he argued that Ghana’s economy was growing significantly until the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia and post-COVID-19 challenges.

“It [booing] gives me a different impression. I think the Ghanaian people have higher expectations of the NPP. They believe that we are more capable and they hold us higher than the NDC. If they [Ghanaians] feel that we are letting them down of a sort, it is natural to protest,” he said.

He described the acts of booing at government officials by some citizens as politically contrived acts perpetrated by elements of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
