Whoever will be Ghana’s next president will come from me – Owusu Bempah

Leader and founder of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev. Owusu Bempah, is confident that for one to become president in Ghana, it would be determined “here”, pointing his hands to the ground.

He said this while addressing his church in an attempt to distance himself from some allegations in a recently leaked audio tape linking him to being an accomplice of the current president, Akufo-Addo, in murdering a man at Tema.

“Whether you like it or not, whoever will be Ghana’s next president will be determined here,” he said in Twi.

He acknowledged, however, that aside from the aforementioned allegation, every other claim heard in the leaked tape was his own.

In the leaked recording, Prophet Owusu Bempah is heard issuing threatening statements towards the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare, following his arrests and perceived mistreatment by the Ghana Police Service.

Prophet Owusu Bempah went on to allege that people have lost their lives, suffered accidents, and endured amputations as sacrifices, all of which were aimed at making Akufo-Addo president.

On his part, Dampare wouldn’t have become president if he hadn’t helped him.
Prophet Owusu Bempah claimed that but for his involvement and sacrifices, President Akufo-Addo would not have become president.

The recording also includes instructions for an unidentified person to deliver the message to the IGP, involving specific questions about past interactions with President Akufo-Addo and urging him to seek information from media personality Captain Smart.

Blatant lies: Owusu Bempah’s church refutes allegations of Chief Imam’s visit for spiritual guidance and protection

The Glorious Word Power Ministries International has decried that its founder and leader, Reverend Owusu Bempah, has said the National Chief Imam visits him for spiritual protection and guidance.

According to the church, such reporting is untrue and borne out of malice.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, January 5, it said the publication is calculated to temper the cordial relationship between Sheikh Ousman Nuhu Sharubutu and Reverend Owusu Bempah.

“We wish to state emphatically that Apostle Dr Isaac Owusu Bempah has not at any time claimed that the Chief Imam visits it consults him to look into his destiny.

“The publication was clearly actuated by malice, a desire for profit, sensationalism and calculated to disrupt the peaceful and cordial relationship between the Chief Imam and Apostle Dr Isaac Owusu Bempah,” the church said.

Already, the office of the National Chief Imam has reacted to the issue.

In a press release, the office of the Islamic leader said the National Chief Imam does not seek spiritual protection from “charlatans on the pulpit.”

It has thus asked the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Christian community to advise Reverend Owusu Bempah from making further controversial and false prophecies about Shiekh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu.

“We wish to state that all the claims of Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah contain no iota of truth, but represent the figment of his own imagination.

“Undoubtedly, Shiekh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu is a champion of interfaith harmony and peaceful co-existence. But he does not seek protection and prosperity from charlatans on the pulpit.”

“Conclusively, we stand – at all times – for interfaith solidarity and national unity, as we contribute our quota to the building of a prosperous democratic state of diverse religious communities.

Rev Owusu Bempah is alleged to have claimed that the National Chief Imam seeks spiritual protection from him.

The said allegation was said to have been made on Saturday, December 31, 2022, during his church’s watch night service.

In January 2019, the self-styled pastor thanked the National Chief Imam for his swift action to forestall peace when his church was vandalised recently by some Zongo youths.

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah said he considers Sheik Usman Nuru Sharubutu as his father for the love shown him after a prophecy during his December 31, 2018, church service suggesting the respected Islamic leader will die in 2019.

Irate youth, armed with machetes, stormed Rev. Owusu Bempah’s property after he prophesied that some key leaders in Ghana, including the National Chief Imam, would die in 2019.

Speaking at a meeting at the Chief Imam’s Fadama residence in Accra, he said that but for the centenarian’s timely intervention, the issue would have taken another twist, which could lead to harm and destruction.

  • Charges against Rev. Owusu Bempah withdrawn

The police have dropped their charges against Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, general overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministry.

Along with three other people, the preacher was accused of harming police officers.

Rev. Owusu Bempah, Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene, and Nathaniel Agyekum all entered not guilty pleas to two counts of aiding and abetting the commission of harm and the commission of unlawful damage.

Police prosecutor Insp. Jonas Lawer informed the court on Wednesday that the accusations against the accused were being dropped without giving a justification.

As a result, the Accra Circuit Court deemed the case dropped and ordered the accused to be released.

This occurs two weeks after Owusu Bempah and six other defendants were released by a different Circuit Court on November 30 as a result of a withdrawal for making threats against Nana Agradaa’s life.

In this separate case, the prosecution had all requisite disclosures and witness testimonies on file and served on each of the defendants, with a hearing date of January 19, 2022.

  • Rev. Owusu Bempah spotted at launch of Ama Busia’s book

Founder of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, was spotted at a well-attended and high-profile book launch in Accra last week.

Bempah, known as the Nation’s Prophet, was spotted at the event spotting a rather casual look. He wore a multicoloured long sleeved shirt with black trousers and brown sneakers with dark shades.

Photos on the Facebook handle of Second Lady Samira Bawumia showed that among other dignitarie present were: her husband Mahamudu Bawumia, former president John Agyekum Kufuor and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

  • Why Owusu Bempah has stopped praying for Akufo-Addo

The Leader and Founder of Glorious Word and Power Ministries International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah,  has said he has stopped praying for President Akufo-Addo, the man he spiritually backed in opposition until he ascended unto the highest office of the Presidency in 2016.

According to him, he used to be close to the president, but today, there has been a gap between them.

He said he has stopped praying for a president, and never will he pray for any regime that emerges on the political scene going forward.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, the man of God advised that the president should, as a matter of urgency, gather some men of God to intercede on his behalf because what is happening in the country is not normal.

“This is not to disrespect the president, but I have stopped praying for the president like I used to do. I (used) pray for the president and that God should protect him and make sure that his tenure is successful; to pray for the president like I used to do some time ago, I have stopped doing that,” Rev Owusu Bempah said.

“Like Saul, Samuel and David in the Holy Bible as instances, Nana Addo has turned away from God. He is no longer the man ruling the country because he has become disobedient like Saul in the Bible,” Owusu Bempah added.

He noted that no political party – whether NDC or NPP – can be able to make it without spiritual backing.

“If you claim to be of God, then let the people of God back you with prayers; if you claim to believe in other gods, then let your magicians intercede for you like King Pharaoh because, without power, you can never succeed in life,” he stressed.

When asked what has brought about the ‘bad’ blood between him and the president to the extent that he has stopped interceding for him, he explained that, as a man of God, he is willing and ready to intercede for anybody who approaches him for spiritual help and direction but “when I see that after praying for you, you do not have any belief in the prayer, I will just withdraw and stay within my lane.

“I am human, and if after fighting to do whatever that you want, you decide not to mind and appreciate whatever I have done for you, therefore, you keep disregarding me, [I won’t mind you again].

“It is very painful to go all out and help someone to achieve some status in life, and later the person behaves like you have been rejected; it makes you feel that you have fought and done all that you needed to do in vain. I am not saying if I do something bad, nobody should confront me or the law so be twisted to favour me, no, but at least the person should be able to remember whatever I have done for him; the person should remember that if not for this individual, I would not have achieved such status.

“I do not want the glory or recognition for myself, no. When President Akufo-Addo mentioned my name during his victory speech, I took that recognition for the Lord; what I mean is that when you start with God, you need to finish with him. The battle is the Lords should be the altar and finisher of your faith…,” Rev Owusu Bempah explained further.
