  • Richard Ofori aiming to finish PSL season on a high note

Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, says he is hoping to finish on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) on a high note after the return of the PSL.

PSL football is set to return this weekend following a four-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions placed on sport, and football in particular.

Maritzburg, who currently occupy the fifth spot on the league log will re-start their campaign against Black Leopards at FNB Stadium next Sunday.

“The team is very strong and solid because we have been training individually during the lockdown but we need to start smart because of match fitness, and hopefully finish the season in a good position,” he told the official club website.

“Of course, we can finish the season strong because we are highly motivated after our great start to the season.

“We have worked very hard since the start so we shall finish strong,” he added.

  • Edwin Gyimah speaks against signing of pre-contracts in PSL

Ghana international Edwin Gyimah believes the signing of pre-contracts by players in the Premier Soccer League does nothing but distract clubs.

His Black Leopards teammate Lesedi Kapinga is believed to have signed a pre-contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs’ George Maluleka is on his way to Sundowns and Grant Margeman became a Mamelodi Sundowns player this season but will join his new club next season.

Black Leopards star Gyimah is of the view this is not good for the league.

“When it comes to players who have signed pre-contracts it sometimes also affects a team depending on the situation the team is in,” he told KickOff.com

“Especially us in the relegation, in the bottom of the league, it really affects us because those players who have already signed pre-contracts were playing a key role in the team.

“It’s really, really painful because of where we are in this situation… because the kind of players that we’ve lost at this moment is a big blow for us.”
