  • Shut down all witch camps in Ghana Sam Pee Yalley to government

Former Ghana High Commissioner to India, Sam Pee Yalley has called on the government to immediately shut down all witch camps in the country.

According to him, nobody has any right to operate a witch camp in the country.

The former commissioner who was reacting to the lynching of a 90-year-old woman in the Savannah Region, on UTV stated that, “faith and religion is causing this country a great harm…”

He continued that, “Mind you where your faith ends that is where mine begins. It is high time the government closes all such witch camps”.

Adding, “Government should close all witch camps now. It is not the time to go there and feed them, no no no. It is time to take a decision. Nobody has any right to open a witch camp in this country. The district assembly must be empowered to make sure all those operating witch camps are brought to book. It is shameful”, he added.

He also cautioned chiefs who are fond of banishing their subjects to stop with immediate effect.

Mr Yalley believes “if a citizen commits an offence, the best place to seek justice is the court and not taking the law into your own hands. I went to my home town and heard they have banished a whole family from the community. This is a bad practice, a bad practice that this country can no longer tolerate”.

  • NPP can’t dictate to us – NDC’s Sam Pee Yalley

Former Ghana’s Ambassador to India, His Excellency, Sam Pee Yalley has heartedly confirmed he will in any day kick against persons who claim Ghana is not ready to have a lady lead it.

According to him, Ghana is late in joining the race to have a lady lead it since countries who are underdeveloped as compared to Ghana have taken up this mantle.

“Indeed, no one can convince me any day that we can’t have a lady lead this nation. We are even late as a country to make this move,” he emphasized.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion show, the former Ambassador affirmed he perfectly sides with former President John Dramani Mahama to elect a lady as his running mate, specifically Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

However, he has disagreed with alleged reports by some party members that the former Education Minister is not known as far as the NDC is concerned and therefore cannot sell the party to excel in the upcoming elections.

“Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is the best candidate to partner Mahama,” he said.

Sam Pee Yalley advised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop dictating to the NDC on who becomes its running mate.

“It takes a coach to decide which player he will use to win a game. NPP cannot in anyway show us what is good for us,” he added.

    Mahama Selects Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President, John Dramani Mahama has selected Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his Running Mate for the 2020 Presidential elections.

The party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi announced this following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

He disclosed that Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s endorsement was by a unanimous decision of the party’s Council of Elders and the NEC.

“I can tell you that the Running Mate of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the 2020 general election is Professor Jane Naana Agyemang. That choice has been approved unanimously by the Council,” Sammy Gyamfi stated.
