I paid GHS30k for use of Independence Square not GHS10k – Cheddar

Ghanaian business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar or Cheddar has pointed out what he says are inconsistencies in the response from the government regarding his much anticipated programme, The Convention, which was eventually canceled.

The programme was scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 7, 2024, however, it was abruptly canceled a few hours to its commencement.

A statement was subsequently issued from the Diaspora Affairs Directorate of the Office of the President, explaining circumstances that resulted in the sudden cancellation of the programme.

“We write to revoke immediately the permission granted per our letter No.OP/PH/02 dated November 11, 2024, which approved your request to use the Black Star Square for the above event.

“This decision has been necessitated by an unforeseen State Event scheduled to take place at the venue,” portions of the statement read.

Government also indicated in the statement that it will refund an amount of GHS10,000 paid by Cheddar to the Diaspora Affairs.

Contrary to details in a statement, Cheddar noted that he paid GHS30,000 to the Presidency and not GHS10,000.

“First of all the receipt that we got is GHS30,000 so if the government is showing GHS10,000, it’s minus two-thirds,” he said.

Feeling shortchanged, he questioned the rationale for the part payment of the money.

“Is this how the whole country behaves in everything that we do? With our taxes, with everything that we do?

However, per Cheddar’s further explanations, he was charged for six days, which according to him, included four days which will be used to set up the Independence Square and also, a day for clearing the Independence after the event.

In a document dated 15th November purported to be a receipt issued by the Diaspora Affairs Directorate of the Office of the President, the directorate acknowledged receipt of payment for the Black Stars Square Venue to be used for a programme from the 2nd January to the 8th January 2024.

Payment details are as follows: “Use of Venue 5000 a day for 6 days = GHS 30,000.” Service charge was waived, however, the Directorate indicated that if any other costs are necessary to be made, Cheddar will be duly informed.

Cheddar said the cancellation of the event has left him frustrated.

Very shameful! – Jacob Osei Yeboah chides govt over ancellation of ‘The Convention’

A prominent political analyst and commentator, Jacob Osei Yeboah, has expressed strong disapproval and disappointment over the government’s decision to cancel ‘The Convention.’

In a scathing critique, he labeled the move as “shameful” and questioned the rationale behind the abrupt cancellation of the event.

“It’s very shameful for Ghana. What happened was shameful and a blemish on us as a people.”

He conveyed that he had previously encountered similar political maneuvers and plots aimed at undermining and besmirching his reputation.

“I have experienced the same destructive mechanism of the duopoly for the past 14 years, since 2010. The sad thing is that Ghanaians will look on because partisanship, patronage and such a selfless sacrifice to help better the lives of citizens will be stopped by the duopoly.”

Continuing, he mentioned that the President had promised to safeguard the freedom of assembly and association during his Constitution Day address.

He added that contrarily, the scrapping of the event on Sunday sends a different message, and it is something that every Ghanaian ought to denounce.

His comments is in reaction to the cancellation ‘The Convention,’ a programme organised by Ghanaian business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar or Cheddar

The Diaspora Affairs Directorate at the Office of the President revealed that it prevented organisers of the pan-African event, ‘The Convention’ from going ahead with the ceremony on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Black Star Square due to a state event at the same venue.

The organisers of the event, the New Africa Foundation, were directed to cancel the event at the last minute despite receiving approval in November 2023.

Speakers for the event included Professor P. L. O. Lumumba, Julius Malema, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, and Peter Obi.

Deputy Director of the Diaspora Affairs Directorate at the Office of the President, Dr. Nadia Adongo Fynn, said in a statement that the decision was because of an “unforeseen” state event scheduled to take place at the venue.

“We write to revoke immediately the permission granted per our letter No.OP/PH/02 dated November 11, 2023, which approved your request to use the Black Star Square for the above event.”

“This decision has been necessitated by an unforeseen state event scheduled to take place at the venue. Under the circumstances, the amount of ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHc10,000.00) paid by your office for the use of the venue will be refunded. We regret any inconvenience this may cause,” Dr. Nadia Fynn added in the statement.

#TheNewForce: I come with a good purpose, and a great vision – Cheddar speaks after cancellation of ‘The Convention’

The mysterious ‘Man in the Mask,’ identified as Nana Kwame Bediako, who revealed himself on Sunday, January 7, 2024, has indicated that he has come to save Ghana.

Stepping into the spotlight at an impromptu press conference prompted by the last-minute cancellation of the ‘Convention 2024’ rally organized in Accra by the Government of Ghana, Kwame Bediako found himself addressing a situation where influential African thought leaders, including Professor PLO Lumumba, Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao from Zimbabwe, and Peter Obi, had gathered to discuss critical challenges facing the continent’s development.

In response to the unexpected turn of events, Kwame Bediako asserted his fearlessness, emphasizing that he was not a person to be intimidated by the circumstances. The hastily convened press conference became a platform for Bediako to express his resilience and determination, despite the setback of the canceled rally that had brought together prominent minds to deliberate on pressing issues affecting Africa’s progress.

“I am nothing to be scared of. I came to you as your salvation. I don’t invest in myself alone. I am investing in you,” he said, adding later on that he has a great vision for both Ghana and Africa.

Sounding rather poetical, Bediako, the founder of ‘The New Africa Foundation,’ said he has for the past 21 years dedicated himself to the service of the nation.

“We need to educate. We need to uplift our children. We need to voice out to them. You are about to find out about this man in the mask because I never spoke a word, you were looking for me. I didn’t tell you whether I am into politics, whether I am an evangelist, whether I am a conventionist or a revolutionist. After this day, you will have to wait for me to share my policies and my visions with you.

“And if I’m the reason why the country or the government is not happy about these great voices coming to educate not only Ghana, but also Africa, then I take this moment to sacrifice myself, to unveil myself, because I have much respect for these great leaders beside me. I would have taken my own time to tell you that I am. But for this very moment, I am sacrificing myself to let you know that I’m that man.

“But I’m that man with a good purpose, with a great vision. I have a plan, and I have a vision for this nation. And not only this nation, I have it for Africa too. But I know Africa is the next biggest thing because out of all the continents that have been developed in this world, there is only one continent that is not developed and I am sent to do that,” he said to applause from the gathering.

He passionately discussed the significance of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding as fundamental pillars for constructing genuine wealth. He underscored the importance of extracting value from one’s surroundings, emphasizing the role of these key elements in the process.

Cheddar’s pet tigers still being housed despite Accra court order

Despite a court order mandating their removal, two tigers at the centre of a dispute between neighbours in Accra, Ghana, continue to be housed in a cage on one of the properties.

The controversy arose when businessman Nana Kwame Bediako imported the tigers, expecting public enthusiasm for the presence of non-native wildlife.

However, his neighbours were not impressed and took legal action against the decision.

“My family and I feel very unsafe and terrified any time we see these tigers,” Pamela Agba said.

They were brought in from Dubai as cubs last year but now the wild cats appear to be fully grown.

Mr Bediako has not said how much the process cost him but described what he had done as an “achievement”.

“I went through the right process, and I brought experts from outside to create a safety cage for them so that they don’t become a danger to the public,” he told reporters last year.

“I can guarantee you that there’s millions in Africa who have never seen a tiger and that’s the common yellow and black. Now we have the white tigers, which are very rare in this world.”

Mr. Bediako keeps the tigers enclosed in a pen adjacent to his residence within a gated compound that includes five other houses in an upscale section of Accra.

Ms. Agba and her family share a garden with Mr. Bediako on his Wonder World Estate, and her decision to pursue legal action garnered significant attention in the country.

According to the Agba family, in addition to the fear of the tigers, the animals are noisy and emit an unpleasant odour.

The court sided with the Agba family, instructing the Forestry Commission, responsible for wildlife, to remove the pet tigers within three days in November of the previous year.

Forestry Commission lawyers informed the court that the animals could only be removed once Mr. Bediako completed a new enclosure in a different location to house them.

In February, three months after the initial ruling, the Forestry Commission requested an additional three months, but the tigers have yet to be relocated.

Mr. Bediako explained to the BBC that he needed more time as constructing a new enclosure in a different part of Accra, away from residential areas, has taken several months.

“We have written to the Forestry Commission to give us a month because we are almost through with the shelter to house the animals.”

He said any attempt to forcefully move the tigers would only harm them or create danger for society since there is currently no facility available to keep them.

“It took us almost five months to get land and another four months to build the facility. We want to be the first country in Africa, apart from South Africa, to successfully manage those animals,” he told the BBC.

Last month, the Agba family returned to court, which found the head of the Forestry Commission in contempt of court and issued a warrant for his arrest.

This has not yet been carried out. The Forestry Commission’s lawyer told the BBC it needed more time to remove the tigers. One of the possible reasons for the delay is that the commission does not have the expertise to handle these dangerous animals as it has never dealt with them.

For Mr Bediako, all that matters is the safety of the animals.

On the issue of his neighbours being afraid, Mr Bediako said he was surprised. He said none of the other people who have bought apartments in the complex he owns have complained.

“They have lived with them for the past few months since the animals were brought and there hasn’t been any problem.”

Ms Agba’s lawyer said that other residents had moved out because of the tigers.

Ms Agba just wants the whole issue to be over.

She said she was fed up seeing the tigers every time she opened her window.

  • I made my first million pounds at the age of 21 – Freedom Jacob Caesar

Ghanaian businessman and real estate developer, Nana Kwame Bediako better known as Freedom Jacob Caesar has once again shared his humble beginning to encourage young men and women.

According to the famous businessman nicknamed Cheddar, he made his first million pounds at the age of 21 when he travelled to England for educational purposes.

Speaking in an interview with Samuel Leeds, the owner of the No.1 Oxford Street Hotel detailed how he started his small business back in college at the back of his car boot.

Cheddar sold fake Versace and YSL clothes and made some good profit out of it.

“I made my first million pounds at the age of 21 and I will tell you exactly what happened. I was living in England and I was sent there to go to college and I was selling fake Versace and YSL shirts in the back of my 205 GTI which I bought for 499 pounds.

“My capital when I was going to London was 6000 dollars. My mum, my brothers and everybody gave me 130 pounds which they taught was big money for me but I was laughing in my head…It was in 1994, I remember very well and I bought a Panasonic chip phone and so I was like the new kid on the block. Then I met Johnny Prescott, he was selling the jeans and the shirts. I just wanted to buy one pair of jeans and one pair of shit but when I saw the prices, 30 and 20 pounds, I offered him 20 pounds and 15 for the shirt and I put it at the back of my boot and I was selling it for 50 and 40. So I started making money from the boot but I fell into the streets because I already understood what business was. At that point, business was me from where I was coming from,” Cheddar disclosed.

Young Cheddar started buying scraps from salvages to resell. This also fetched him some good income, contributing to his million pounds at the age of 21.

In a motivational message to the public, he said: “The beginning of business can start from a bad corner, you just need to turn it around and establish it…the naked truth of Freedom Jacob Caesar is coming out in the book that is about to come out.”

He also described how he sold knockoffs of Versace and YSL clothing and made a tidy profit.

“I made my first million pounds at the age of 21 and I will tell you exactly what happened. I was living in England and I was sent there to go to college and I was selling fake Versace and YSL shirts in the back of my 205 GTI which I bought for 499 pounds.

  • Cheddar’s message to Kanye West

Ghanaian businessman and entrepreneur, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has given Kanye West an alternative on how his millions of dollars can be used to save some African countries whose currencies are losing to the dollar.

In a tweet he put out on November 6, 2022, Cheddar told the rapper that World Bank was holding some African countries at ransom for the economic crisis they are going through.

“@kanyewest IMF and the world bank are holding countries at ransom for economic crisis in Africa.

“Ghana, my country, is one of them. My advice for you is if they don’t want your billions in their banks then use some of the funds to save countries in Africa with currency depreciation,” he shared.

This comes after US banking giant, JP Morgan Chase, cut off its ties with the rapper and designer, who presently goes by the name Ye.

The bank gave Mr West until November 21, 2022, in the letter, to move his business.

Mr West had recently taken to social media to condemn JP Morgan’s administration and said they wouldn’t give him access to the bank’s CEO, Jamie Dimon.

The move by JP Morgan comes as Mr West’s business organizations have gone under expanded examination.
