Popular Ghanaian media personality Nana Ama McBrown took to social media to share a heartwarming post on her husband’s birthday.
In the post, she showered her husband, Maxwell Mensah, with praises, describing him as a blessing in her life. This heartfelt tribute reflects the deep love and appreciation McBrown has for her husband on this special occasion.
She shared pictures of her husband of seven years, with the caption,

McBrown’s post comes after she refuted allegations that she is facing abuse in her marriage.
In an earlier development, she refuted rumours that she had traveled out of the country to fix her ‘fractured’ arm after being pushed down the stairs by her husband.

She explained that there were many times that she has had calls from family members and loved ones following untrue stories about her.
McBrown recounted how her mother called one time and was very disturbed about such stories posted online.
“I’ve told my mother that until I call her or a family member calls to provide an information, she should ignore everything she hears.
“When she called to enquire about the stories of my husband beating me, I just asked, “does she think a woman like me will allow herself to be beaten by her husband?’”

A well-known Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame, has stated that he never broke Ghanaian actress and media personality, Nana Ama McBrown’s heart.
The comment was made in reaction to Okyeame Kwame’s Facebook post, in which he invited his admirers to openly apologize to individuals they had mistreated in the past.
In the post sighted by GhanaWeb, Okyeame Kwame wrote, “Let the tough people say sorry. @Adjettey Annan just said sorry. Can you do the same? I am saying sorry to Mavis for breaking your heart 20 years ago. Let the healing begin.”
Among the fans who responded by offering apologies, one named Agnes Bimpong specifically inquired about Nana Ama McBrown.

The husband of Ghanaian actress and TV personality Nana Ama Mcbrown, Maxwell Mensah, has been accused of being the cause of the injury Mcbrown suffered on her arm.
In an anonymous WhatsApp audio recording, someone accused Maxwell Mensah, of being an abusive husband.
It will be recalled that in the year 2021, Mcbrown had a car accident injuring her arm, narrating what happened, the actress said she had an accident on the N1 Highway with her boyfriend now husband, Maxwell Mensah, while they were driving a Range Rover.
The accident, she revealed had her right hand being stuck in between the car and its door, and when she successfully was able to pull out her hand, she saw that the bone was out and broken.
The actress who at that time was the host of United Showbiz on UTV took time off from her job to travel to Germany for surgery to fix a flaw in one of her arms.
“Last year, I slipped and fractured the same hand. Doctors in Ghana have tried their best but I have noticed it hasn’t healed how I expected it so I planned that whenever I get a break, I will travel to treat it”, she posted.
According to the person speaking in the leaked recording,her husband allegedly shoved her off their stairs after they got into a fight, which resulted in the second injury.
He went on to say that Nana Ama was constantly being mistreated by her husband, who he characterised as a major drug user who not only used marijuana but also occasionally sniffed cocaine.
It was Ghanaian actor,Kwaku Manu‘s hope that he and his lovely wife, Okailey, would remain together “until death do them part” when they got married some 14 years ago.
His dream was, however, shattered two years ago when their nuptials took a nosedive and he and his wife had to go their separate ways, although he believes they did everything to make it work.
This is the reason why the comic actor believes there is no formula for a successful marriage.
“It is the wish of every married man to live happily ever after, with the woman he loves, especially when they have children together.
“I know a lot of Ghanaians want to find out what led to the breakup of my marriage but all I can say for now is that no happy couple will love to break up, especially when they share children between them.
“You see, what might work for one couple may not work for another. I wouldn’t want to go into details about what led to the divorce, all I can say is that I am single for now,” he told Daily Graphic in an interview.
Kwaku Manu disagreed when it was pointed out to him that celebrity marriages often crash because they are in the limelight, and that might be the reason why his didn’t work out.
He explained that marriage itself is an institution whose future no one can predict. “I have come to realise that one cannot predict whether one’s marriage will work or not. So, whether it is a celebrity marriage or not, it depends on the two individuals to make it work. But if it doesn’t, there is nothing one can do but let it go.
“Every marriage has its own challenges and I can tell you for a fact that there is no perfect marriage. Ministers, lawyers, professors and even marriage counsellors all have problems in their marriages. But because we don’t know, we might think everything is kosher with their union,” he added.

No more friends
It seems divorce is not the only challenge he has had to deal with in recent times. According to him, due to backbiting and some bad experiences he encountered in the movie industry, as well as from some friends, Kwaku Manu disclosed he didn’t have any friends.
“For the past seven years, it has been me, my children, my family and no friends. As we speak now, there is no one I can call a friend. I am mostly at home minding my business and making sure my children are okay.
“These days, I only step out if work demands I go to shoot skits or do interviews. I am most times at home spending time with my children. In fact, my life would have been worse off after the divorce if I didn’t have my children with me. I forget about my worries when I see them. So I don’t joke with them at all,” he revealed.
Politics
With the general elections coming off next year, there are no doubts most popular creatives will be approached by political parties to join their campaign train. When asked if he has yet been approached by any political party, Kwaku Manu answered in the negative.
Kwaku Manu, who has acted alongside Agya Koo, Lil Win, Nana Ama McBrown, Vivian Jill, Akrobeto and Emelia Brobbey, among others, said no political party can pay him to campaign for them.
“I am not bragging, but no amount of money can influence me to campaign for any political party, whether NPP or NDC. Unless they are willing to pay me over $1 billion, which I know they wouldn’t. I vote every four years but I believe as a celebrity, it is good not to disclose the political party you support.
Banned for 5 years
Although he will make the list when Kumawood comic actors are called, Kwaku Manu ‘reigned’ for about only three years in the movie industry, unlike colleague comic actors such as Lil Win, Agya Koo, etc. He attributes it to a five-year ban slapped on him at the peak of his career.
“Till today, I can’t tell you the reason why I was banned from the movie industry. Maybe it was because I was rising so quickly and the movie producers did not like that. They thought that banning me will be the end of Kwaku Manu but God works in a way no one can understand. I am making it today and it is all the blessings of God.”
“There is so much hatred and backbiting in the movie industry and it is about time we stopped it because it doesn’t help in any way. We are supposed to be united and fight for a common goal, but here we are fighting each other all the time. How can we expect it to grow?” he queried.

When he wasn’t getting roles in movies, he started posting skits on YouTube. However, little did he know it was a stepping stone to something bigger.
Kwaku Manu, who is the host of the popular Aggressive Interview on YouTube, said his fans and followers started asking for interviews anytime he posted short skits and he decided to give it a try.
“I don’t have any regret starting Aggressive Interview. Instead, I have benefited a lot from meeting prominent people through the show. Aggressive Interview is not for only celebrities but anyone who has a good story to tell. I interviewed some celebrities on the show and I had pretty good comments,” he said.
Through his Aggressive Interview, Kwaku Manu has interviewed celebrities like Asamoah Gyan, Funny Face, Kyeiwa, Oboy Siki, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey, Vivian Jill, Wayoosi, Koo Fori, Shatta Wale, Coded, King Promise, Kofi Kinaata, Agya Koo, Shugatiti and Obinini, among others.
He revealed that YouTube pays him a lot of money, hence the motivation to always do more interviews.
“I am motivated to talk to these celebrities because Youtube pays me very well. In addition to the financial rewards, I love to hear the stories my guests tell and it is not surprising how my interviews always make headlines. I am blown away by some of the revelations they make on the show”.
Who is Kwaku Manu
Kwaku Manu was born in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region to Agya Yaw Nimo, a cobbler, and Madam Afia, a trader.
The second of six children, Kwaku Manu attended Obuasi SDA School but was unable to complete it due to financial constraints.
Kwaku Manu, who has produced movies including Poor No Friend and Don King, said he has one principle he lives by, which is to set targets for himself and make sure he achieves them. He said it had helped him a lot.
“When I plan to do something, I make sure I achieve it even if it takes me several years. I believe setting a target for yourself helps you to plan well,” he said.

“Just leave everything to God and move. As a human being, you will fall. I am not perfect as I am seated here but the bible said in the sight of God, we all fall short but he renews his love for us daily. Every day, change a little bit for good,” she observed.

Mann, a constant critic of McBrown, took a dig at the Onua Showtime hostess for what she describes as her pretentious attitude towards people who chastise her.
In an interview with Zionfelix, Sally Mann said she finds such an attitude disgusting adding that McBrown by her posturing exudes hypocrisy.
Sally made these comments after Zionfelix questioned whether she has an issue with McBrown.
Sally: “Nana Ama McBrown? Why, has she sent you to come and ask me or what? I don’t. Do I have an issue with you? No. (Speaks pidgin) But I dey talk your matter now? So, you know me that I don’t have an iota of problem with her. What’s there? She is not my friend, she is not my family member, she is an industry person just like you are. You’ve known me over the years and you know I am a very passionate person. When I speak and I am very convinced of my conviction, I am very passionate about it. It has nothing to do with hatred, problem or whatever.
“I think most of the things she does are hypocritical. Most of the things that she does, and I’ll leave it at that. Zion, when I said something about you sometime ago, you came out to speak about it and I liked that. When I talk about some people, they will never express their opinion about it. They will act like they are cool even when they see you and that’s hypocritical. Nana Ama is one of such people. She is a hypocrite. I met her after my earlier comments about her. I met her somewhere and she said she doesn’t have any problem with me and I told her that’s exactly what I don’t like about her. Whatever I said, she should have an opinion about it.”
Sally Mann further claimed that McBrown once held a meeting with bloggers to discuss her.

“Our focus should be driven on their impact. How many lives they have been able to impact with their pay cheque. How many people have they been able to educate with their show? That is how we should measure people’s work. Those are their KPIs,” she added.

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has projected some factors which according to him, caused Nana Ama McBrown’s exit from UTV.
According to him, McBrown was working under toxic conditions at her former workplace coupled with intense pressure from her former bosses.
It can be recalled that in January, Shatta was attacked on social media for claiming that the actress was ineffective as the host for the United Showbiz.
He made such comments while tasking Fada Dickson to reconsider his objectives for the show which he (Shatta) finds absurd.

Actress Nana Ama McBrown has adopted a one-year-old girl from her church after discovering the infant had tragically lost her biological mother.
The movie star cum TV presenter, who is known for her kind heart and a sweet tooth for various acts of charity, fell in love with the kid when she spotted her happily wandering about in the church auditorium.
Out of love for the girl, she resolved to give out some of her 4-year-old daughter Baby Maxin’s used clothes and shoes which she has now outgrown to the little girl.
Upon enquiring about the whereabouts of the girl’s mother to receive the items, McBrown discovered to her dismay that the little girl is a maternal orphan.
Saddened by the development, she decided not only to donate to the child but also to take full responsibility for her welfare from henceforth.

The decision of actress and television host, Nana Ama McBrown to move from Despite Media where she worked as the host of United Showbiz has triggered some people.
On March 13, McBrown was unveiled as the latest staff of Media General. The move has resulted in backlash from some staff of her former employers.
Abena Moet of Okay FM is the latest to drum home to the world all the sacrifices Despite Media made for the media personality who has been tagged as ‘ungrateful’.
On the account of Abena, it took the effort of their media house to unearth one of McBrown’s talents adding that she was groomed to become one of Ghana’s seasoned show hosts without any “proper education”.
“Nana Ama McBrown also known as Mrs Mensah has moved to Media General. I don’t know if they do that often but they had a whole ceremony with a cultural display just to welcome her.
“For her to transition from acting to the media without having any proper education is impressive. Whatever goods she gives you Media General, just know that we gave it to her first because we made her a TV host. We are the ones who groomed her, the credit goes to us. We groomed her into a better host,” these are the words of Abena Moet.
Meanwhile, Ola Michael has publicly questioned Nana Ama McBrown for leaving her ‘family’ to join another media station considering the sacrifices owners of Despite Media made for her.
“We have lifted you to a high pedestal but because of disloyalty and ungratefulness, you have been reduced to class 1, we thank God,” he said.
The departure of actress Nana Ama McBrown from the Despite Media Group to work for another media organization has angered some employees of the Despite brand.
Nana Ama McBrown, who hosted United Showbiz on UTV, has left to join the Media General Group, owners of TV3, Onua TV, and others.
On Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Media General’s premises in Kanda, Accra, the well-known television personality was formally unveiled.
She joins the Onua brand.
Following the development, some presenters of Okay FM, Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie and Ohene Nana Kwame Amo, while on the “Ade Akye Abia” morning show, blasted McBrown for leaving the Despite brand.
In addition to that, Ola Michael, a presenter at Neat FM also fired McBrown for leaving UTV to a different station.
For these people, Nana Ama McBrown has been unthankful to the company and its Managing Director, Fadda Dickson, who provided her the opportunity by teaching her the ability to host shows.
But, in response to the criticism, Afia Pokuaa, nicknamed Vim Lady, a staff of the Despite Media Group, has noted that the criticism made against Nana Ama McBrown by her coworkers are improper.
She said in a Facebook post that the action was not cool and that it would reflect poorly on the Despite Media.
She asserted that the owners of the Despite Media Group do not object to McBrown quitting the company and that she [Vim Lady] is consequently baffled as to why some of her coworkers are criticizing McBrown.
Vim Lady pointed out that the critics were only acting in this way just to attract favour from their bosses.
“The owners of Despite Media are okay with McBrown but the disciples are always shouting to gain favor from the bosses,” she fired.
She took advantage to caution McBrown to be careful as according to her, there are “bad colleagues” and an “imperfect system”. She advised her to refrain from conducting interviews about her former employers.
Vim Lady also told her to enjoy her new position while remaining attentive and alert.
Ola Michael, a presenter at the Despite Media Group has accused former co-worker Nana Ama McBrown of ungratefulness and disloyalty to the Group.
In a broadcast on Neat FM (March 13, 2023) Ola suggested that the former hostess of United Showbiz on UTV (a subsidiary of Despite Media Group) should not have left for rival group, the Media General Group.
In a clip circulated on social media, Ola I heard saying: “If there is someone who has worked in this house (Despite Media Group) and has to be very very grateful to the owners of this business, Nana Aba will be the first. But have you seen what has happened?
“We have lifted you to a high pedestal but because of disloyalty and ungratefulness, you have been reduced to class 1, we thank God,” he added.
He explained why he was openly critiquing the actress cum entrepreneur: “If it happened elsewhere, we will talk about it. It has happened to us and we are stating it because we are not hypocrites. We have said it as it is. Let’s be grateful, let’s stop being ungrateful.”
McBrown was welcomed to the Media General Group with an elaborate ceremony that included new colleagues lining up to receive her before a musical show was held as part of the welcome party.

Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama Mcbrown has publicly revealed how she was deported from the United States of America for the first time.
The actress and television presenter made this revelation whiles speaking with Captain Smart during her unveiling at ONUA TV on March 13.
As disclosed by the actress, she was deported from the US in 2001.
She refused to go into details as to why and how she was actually sent packing from the US but used her real-life story to encourage the youths who are going through life struggles.
She said: “I’ve never said this anywhere before but today I’ll say it to inspire somebody.
“My uncle returned from the US and met me as a footballer who had returned from playing at Kwadaso (a suburb of Kumasi). I went to play table tennis after that so when my uncle saw me, he promised to take me abroad. Truthfully I was in America in January but to put it short, I was deported,”
“So I want to tell whoever is listening to me that of your dream is to travel and things are not going as expected, that is not the end of your life. God has a plan for you because I didn’t know I would become who I am today if it wasn’t for the deportation.”
In January 2023, Borga Sylvia and Nana Ama McBrown trended on news portals and social media after they shared a kiss at the latter’s sister’s funeral.

According to her, during her interaction with Miracle Films, the moviemaker politely asked her to star in his movie but she initially declined. He later succeeded when he sent McBrown and Kwame Owusu Ansah to her. The first movie they shot was titled ‘He’s Mine’.

She has siblings, including a twin sister. Unfortunately, one of her sisters is late. Her mother is also late.

She went to Australia when she was nine years old. This was made possible by her mother’s sister. Her father had died at the time. She schooled in Australia and is currently at the university.

Borga Sylvia, the actress who kissed Nana Ama McBrown during the funeral of her (Sylvia) sister in January 2023, has given a reason for her action, saying it was a harmless kiss.
Sandra Adu, as she is known in real life, told Deloris Frimpong Manso on The Delay Show that it did not come to her as a surprise when she read articles on major news portals about the incident.
According to her, a kiss is a common gesture of greeting a friend or close associate, hence the hullabaloo that greeted her kiss to McBrown was misplaced.
“I gave her a hug. It’s like meeting your friend, giving her a hug and a peck; that’s what happened,” said Borga Sylvia. “In this industry, you hear stuff about you and you know it’s untrue so I wasn’t surprised.”
Commenting on her sister’s demise, Borga Sylvia said Cynthia Amankwa Gyamfi fell sick for a while before her unfortunate death. She had arrived in Ghana for their mother’s funeral and decided to stay in Ghana for a while after the occasion, only to depart.
“It’s been three years since my mother died. My sister was not sick during my mother’s funeral,” Borga Sylvia said. “She became sick for less than a month and died.”
Meanwhile, Borga Sylvia has said she is in a relationship after her estranged husband, DJ Turbo B remarried.
She mentioned that she had two children with the famous DJ and does not regret spending fifteen years with him.
She further mentioned that they are not divorced but since they are not together anymore, he is at liberty to do whatever he wants with his life.
Following the widespread speculations and some keen observations made by some media houses, we can say on authority that truly, Nana Ama McBrown has parted ways with the Despite Media Group, owners of United Television.
A fortnight ago, it was reported that McBrown – who has been the host of the show for almost 3 years – has parted ways with UTV, and had reportedly been replaced by MzGee.
The rumours grew rife on social media after McBrown’s multiple weeks of absence from the screens, even though the reports had been treated as mere speculations. But it’s now evident that MzBrown will not be returning to hosting duties.
McBrown exits UTV as MzGee takes over her show
Avid viewers of the show would attest that Empress McBrown was the face of the station’s flagship entertainment show ‘United Showbiz’ since its inception in 2020.
Her images were all over posters which were widely distributed on social media ahead of the weekend. The show’s montage had her face while her picture was also boldly displayed on a giant screen in the background during the show.
But on Saturday, March 11, 2023, it was observed that some minute things have seemingly changed about the show – with reference to the montage and interludes.

The Montage: When McBrown was away in Germany to realign her dislocated arm following a domestic accident at home, she was assisted by temporal hosts who were rotated on a weekly basis until she resumed work.
Nothing about the show changed. Her face was still used on flyers alongside that of the guest hosts. The show’s montage remained the same as was since its inception.
However, the recent episode on Saturday saw McBrown’s face replaced with MzGee, which would have been highly unlikely to happen if McBrown will be returning.

Ghanaian entertainment journalist, Emmanuel Kwame Sarpong known popularly as Olele Salvador, wants Media General to transform actress and TV presenter, Nana Ama Brown into the likes of Oprah Winfrey or Ellen DeGeneres.
According to him, this would be possible as Nana Ama McBrown is likeable and has a remarkable brand that attracts investors.
In a tweet briefly after her move from UTV to Media General, he wrote: “I’m not too sure what the plan is for Nana Ama McBrown at Onua TV/Onua FM but I think she will best fit the ‘Ellen Degeneres/Oprah” profile or typa show. McBrown is joining the Onua brand under the Media General group.
