She explained that there were many times that she has had calls from family members and loved ones following untrue stories about her.

“I’ve told my mother that until I call her or a family member calls to provide an information, she should ignore everything she hears.

After a period of silence, Nana Ama Mcbrown, the host of Onua Showtime, has finally responded to the allegations. She revealed that her mother, who is usually concerned about such rumors, was particularly upset by this specific one.

Speaking on her show, McBrown said she had to comfort her mother and assure her that such a thing can never happen in her home.

She stressed that she isn’t the type of woman that can be beaten in her own house.

“I have heard a lot. The other day, I heard I was beaten, and my mother called me. She asked how it happened and I told her that such a thing can never happen to me. I told her it is impossible for such a thing to happen in my house. Me? Akosua? It can’t happen in my house.

“For some of us, when our parents hear these rumours, they panic. The other day I had to sit my mother down and told her to pay deaf ear to all the stories. I told her that if it’s not coming from me or family members, she shouldn’t listen to it,” she stated.

Nana Ama McBrown’s husband allegedly pushed her down the stairs injuring her arm

The husband of Ghanaian actress and TV personality Nana Ama Mcbrown, Maxwell Mensah, has been accused of being the cause of the injury Mcbrown suffered on her arm.

In an anonymous WhatsApp audio recording, someone accused Maxwell Mensah, of being an abusive husband.

It will be recalled that in the year 2021, Mcbrown had a car accident injuring her arm, narrating what happened, the actress said she had an accident on the N1 Highway with her boyfriend now husband, Maxwell Mensah, while they were driving a Range Rover.

The accident, she revealed had her right hand being stuck in between the car and its door, and when she successfully was able to pull out her hand, she saw that the bone was out and broken.

  • A successful marriage has no formula – Kwaku Manu

A successful marriage has no formula – Kwaku Manu

It was Ghanaian actor, Kwaku Manu‘s hope that he and his lovely wife, Okailey, would remain together “until death do them part” when they got married some 14 years ago.

His dream was, however, shattered two years ago when their nuptials took a nosedive and he and his wife had to go their separate ways, although he believes they did everything to make it work.

This is the reason why the comic actor believes there is no formula for a successful marriage.

“It is the wish of every married man to live happily ever after, with the woman he loves, especially when they have children together.

“I know a lot of Ghanaians want to find out what led to the breakup of my marriage but all I can say for now is that no happy couple will love to break up, especially when they share children between them.

“You see, what might work for one couple may not work for another. I wouldn’t want to go into details about what led to the divorce, all I can say is that I am single for now,” he told Daily Graphic in an interview.

Kwaku Manu disagreed when it was pointed out to him that celebrity marriages often crash because they are in the limelight, and that might be the reason why his didn’t work out.

He explained that marriage itself is an institution whose future no one can predict. “I have come to realise that one cannot predict whether one’s marriage will work or not. So, whether it is a celebrity marriage or not, it depends on the two individuals to make it work. But if it doesn’t, there is nothing one can do but let it go.

“Every marriage has its own challenges and I can tell you for a fact that there is no perfect marriage. Ministers, lawyers, professors and even marriage counsellors all have problems in their marriages. But because we don’t know, we might think everything is kosher with their union,” he added.

My life would have been worse off after the divorce if I didn’t have my children with me

    No more friends

It seems divorce is not the only challenge he has had to deal with in recent times. According to him, due to backbiting and some bad experiences he encountered in the movie industry, as well as from some friends, Kwaku Manu disclosed he didn’t have any friends.

“For the past seven years, it has been me, my children, my family and no friends. As we speak now, there is no one I can call a friend. I am mostly at home minding my business and making sure my children are okay.

“These days, I only step out if work demands I go to shoot skits or do interviews. I am most times at home spending time with my children. In fact, my life would have been worse off after the divorce if I didn’t have my children with me. I forget about my worries when I see them. So I don’t joke with them at all,” he revealed.

    Politics

With the general elections coming off next year, there are no doubts most popular creatives will be approached by political parties to join their campaign train. When asked if he has yet been approached by any political party, Kwaku Manu answered in the negative.

Kwaku Manu, who has acted alongside Agya Koo, Lil Win, Nana Ama McBrown, Vivian Jill, Akrobeto and Emelia Brobbey, among others, said no political party can pay him to campaign for them.

“I am not bragging, but no amount of money can influence me to campaign for any political party, whether NPP or NDC. Unless they are willing to pay me over $1 billion, which I know they wouldn’t. I vote every four years but I believe as a celebrity, it is good not to disclose the political party you support.

    Banned for 5 years

Although he will make the list when Kumawood comic actors are called, Kwaku Manu ‘reigned’ for about only three years in the movie industry, unlike colleague comic actors such as Lil Win, Agya Koo, etc. He attributes it to a five-year ban slapped on him at the peak of his career.

“Till today, I can’t tell you the reason why I was banned from the movie industry. Maybe it was because I was rising so quickly and the movie producers did not like that. They thought that banning me will be the end of Kwaku Manu but God works in a way no one can understand. I am making it today and it is all the blessings of God.”

“There is so much hatred and backbiting in the movie industry and it is about time we stopped it because it doesn’t help in any way. We are supposed to be united and fight for a common goal, but here we are fighting each other all the time. How can we expect it to grow?” he queried.

    Aggressive Interview

When he wasn’t getting roles in movies, he started posting skits on YouTube. However, little did he know it was a stepping stone to something bigger.

Kwaku Manu, who is the host of the popular Aggressive Interview on YouTube, said his fans and followers started asking for interviews anytime he posted short skits and he decided to give it a try.

“I don’t have any regret starting Aggressive Interview. Instead, I have benefited a lot from meeting prominent people through the show. Aggressive Interview is not for only celebrities but anyone who has a good story to tell. I interviewed some celebrities on the show and I had pretty good comments,” he said.

Through his Aggressive Interview, Kwaku Manu has interviewed celebrities like Asamoah Gyan, Funny Face, Kyeiwa, Oboy Siki, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey, Vivian Jill, Wayoosi, Koo Fori, Shatta Wale, Coded, King Promise, Kofi Kinaata, Agya Koo, Shugatiti and Obinini, among others.

He revealed that YouTube pays him a lot of money, hence the motivation to always do more interviews.

“I am motivated to talk to these celebrities because Youtube pays me very well. In addition to the financial rewards, I love to hear the stories my guests tell and it is not surprising how my interviews always make headlines. I am blown away by some of the revelations they make on the show”.

    Who is Kwaku Manu

Kwaku Manu was born in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region to Agya Yaw Nimo, a cobbler, and Madam Afia, a trader.

The second of six children, Kwaku Manu attended Obuasi SDA School but was unable to complete it due to financial constraints.

Kwaku Manu, who has produced movies including Poor No Friend and Don King, said he has one principle he lives by, which is to set targets for himself and make sure he achieves them. He said it had helped him a lot.

“When I plan to do something, I make sure I achieve it even if it takes me several years. I believe setting a target for yourself helps you to plan well,” he said.

Also, Kwaku Manu now wants to live a quiet life and one of the things he has done towards that is to stop posting his children on social media.

  • Sally Mann accuses Mcbrown of being a hypocrite

Sally Mann accuses Mcbrown of being a hypocrite

In yet another instance, the outspoken entertainment commentator, Sally Mann, has once again expressed her strong opinions about Nana Ama McBrown, generating controversy. However, this time, Sally’s criticism stems from the fact that Nana Ama chooses not to respond to her critiques.

Mann, a constant critic of McBrown, took a dig at the Onua Showtime hostess for what she describes as her pretentious attitude towards people who chastise her.

In an interview with Zionfelix, Sally Mann said she finds such an attitude disgusting adding that McBrown by her posturing exudes hypocrisy.

Sally made these comments after Zionfelix questioned whether she has an issue with McBrown.

Zionfelix: Do you have an issue with Nana Ama McBrown?

Sally: “Nana Ama McBrown? Why, has she sent you to come and ask me or what? I don’t. Do I have an issue with you? No. (Speaks pidgin) But I dey talk your matter now? So, you know me that I don’t have an iota of problem with her. What’s there? She is not my friend, she is not my family member, she is an industry person just like you are. You’ve known me over the years and you know I am a very passionate person. When I speak and I am very convinced of my conviction, I am very passionate about it. It has nothing to do with hatred, problem or whatever.

“I think most of the things she does are hypocritical. Most of the things that she does, and I’ll leave it at that. Zion, when I said something about you sometime ago, you came out to speak about it and I liked that. When I talk about some people, they will never express their opinion about it. They will act like they are cool even when they see you and that’s hypocritical. Nana Ama is one of such people. She is a hypocrite. I met her after my earlier comments about her. I met her somewhere and she said she doesn’t have any problem with me and I told her that’s exactly what I don’t like about her. Whatever I said, she should have an opinion about it.”

Sally Mann further claimed that McBrown once held a meeting with bloggers to discuss her.

“I heard that she called all of you bloggers into a meeting and was telling you she doesn’t know what she has done to me. You were there. The people that were in your midst came to tell me,” she confronted Zionfelix.

Sally Mann had on several occasions lambasted Nana Ama Mcbrown such that people wondered if they had some unresolved personal issues.

It can be recalled that when news of McBrown’s exit from UTV hit social media, Sally Mann lambasted the actress, claiming that it was Despite Media’s Managing Director, Fadda Dickson who resurrected her career at a time the movie industry took a nosedive.

“Nana Ama was the face of several products but the core was acting which had collapsed. It took the special intervention of Fadda Dickson and the Despite Group to raise your image again as a person. We can’t dispute the fact that the platform brought a boost…in my opinion, the person who benefitted more was Nana Ama McBrown because, at the time, her acting career had collapsed, Kumawood had collapsed!” she exclaimed on Power FM.

Also, prior to Nana Ama McBrown admitting that she went through liposuction, Sally Mann had already established that the actress enhanced her butt and did a tummy tuck surgery.

“You all complain and say it secretly but I’ve got the balls to let people know that Nana Ama McBrown has enhanced her butt, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. She knows I don’t hate her, but if she feels I’ve said something about her and she’s offended, I don’t care. You see her pictures, and all of you know very well that she’s done tummy tuck. If she’s not done anything and I’m accusing her, she has every cause to complain or have issues with me. In this case, she’s done it. And it’s an open secret. I just substantiate it,” she earlier stated on OnuaFM.

  • Vim Lady declares McBrown and MzGee as female ‘giants’ hosting most influential TV shows

Vim Lady declares McBrown and MzGee as female ‘giants’ hosting most influential TV shows

Ghanaian media personality, Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has described United Showbiz host, MzGee and Onua Showtime presenter, Nana Ama McBrown, as two ‘giants’ holding the fort for women in the media space.

According to her, these two women have put an end to the trend of men dominating the screens over a long period of time.

Vim Lady’s comments are on the back of McBrown’s maiden launch of her new show, ‘Onua Showtime’, where she was said to have pulled over 10,000 views within some hours.

The number of views accrued from the show has since caused a heated debate on social media where netizens have compared her current show to that of her former, United Showbiz, which is now handled by MzGee.

Netizens have been weighing both shows to see which of them carries more influence, reach and engagement, particularly on social media.

But condemning such mindsets, Vim Lady said the success of both shows shouldn’t be determined by the number of views.

“In Ghana, success and impact isn’t determined by the number of views, so those comparing MzGee to McBrown in terms of views to put a stop to it. Some years ago, men were the ones holding the fort when it comes to television.

“All the powerful show hosts we had by then were men. Today, women are dominating our screens. Two powerful women are hosting two powerful programs and that is the beauty of it. Let’s stop the negativity, our minds are too negative,” she stressed in a video making rounds on social media.

Instead, Vim Lady said the level of their successes should be measured by the number of lives they have been able to impact.

“Our focus should be driven on their impact. How many lives they have been able to impact with their pay cheque. How many people have they been able to educate with their show? That is how we should measure people’s work. Those are their KPIs,” she added.

The foundation’s mission is to support underprivileged individuals and communities in Ghana through various charitable activities such as providing basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter, educational support, and healthcare services. The foundation also focuses on empowering women and children by creating opportunities for them to achieve their full potential. The items which include cooking oils, mini billboard mounted by the actress, bags of rice and sugar, soft drinks, diapers, toiletries, and clothes were presented to staffs of the orphanage at a party organized for the orphans by the award-winning actress.

According to the actress who has been embarking on such worthy causes, there was no better way to have spent the New Year than the quality time she spent with the orphans and positively touching their lives.

According to her, it’s very pathetic to come across kids who have lost their parents and do not experience parental warmth and care from their biological parents. “Drawing close to them, showing them affection, and putting smiles on their faces make them feel loved”, she stated.

  • I’m glad Nana Ama McBrown left UTV – Shatta Wale

I’m glad Nana Ama McBrown left UTV – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has projected some factors which according to him, caused Nana Ama McBrown’s exit from UTV.

According to him, McBrown was working under toxic conditions at her former workplace coupled with intense pressure from her former bosses.

It can be recalled that in January, Shatta was attacked on social media for claiming that the actress was ineffective as the host for the United Showbiz.

He made such comments while tasking Fada Dickson to reconsider his objectives for the show which he (Shatta) finds absurd.

Nana Ama McBrown is an actress, Nana Ama McBrown doesn’t know anything about presenting. Sometimes she can present and someone can counter her. Fada Dickson, I beg, I respect you and Despite so much because the innovations, the idea, the vision that you people have for this country is helping a lot of people.”

“Please check your radio stations and TV stations. The programmes you are doing are nonsense. It’s nonsense, it’s stupid. We have boys from Legon who have some ideas. Let them bring it on board,” he earlier stated in a Facebook live video.

But two months down the lane, Nana Ama McBrown has left UTV to Media General, a move Shatta Wale has applauded.

Reacting to it, he said in Pidgin English that it was the best move, adding that the controversial structure of the show would have landed her into more chaos.

“Everybody for pick my stone for me. I talk Nana Ama McBrown en matter you said I shouldn’t talk, not knowing there are problems. When I talk, you’ll say I am talking too much. God will direct the thing. What I am seeing is what I am talking about. When I spoke, everybody was complaining but you see Problem dey there.

‘They worried the woman. They worried the woman, they gave her some nonsense pressure. Nana Ama McBrown, you did very well by leaving UTV to Media General. That’s what I wanted. Find your path,” he stated during a recent Facebook live.

Big Akwes threatens McBrown on her show

Kumawood actor, Christian Akwasi Asamoah, popularly known as Big Akwes, has barred Nana Ama McBrown from associating with people he regards as enemies.

Earlier in a video that went viral, McBrown was seen hyping Frank Naro’s new song ‘Kom’ at an event.

This did not sit well with Big Akwes who stormed social media with tantrums.

Big Akwes, who had always felt Frank Naro’s ‘Kom’ is a diss song to him, warned celebrities to desist from endorsing it.

This was after he slapped Naro at a football gala in Kumasi.

Akwes was invited to McBrown’s Kitchen where the issue was brought up for discussion and he made some bold utterances.

The host, Nana Ama McBrown, asked why Big Akwes has resorted to public attacks instead of resolving his issue with Frank Naro amicably.

“He is your brother, if he does something you don’t like, why don’t you privately confront the issue?” McBrown asked.

Big Akwes: He owes me, if you offer to pay the money he owes, then I’ll kill this issue. If you don’t pay, I won’t end this issue today or tomorrow.

Mcbrown: Frank never mentioned to me that he owes you, so you can’t tell me that. The other day, when I recorded a short video to hype Frank Naro’s song, you came out throwing indirect jabs. Although you didn’t insult me, you created the impression that we cannot help each other in this industry.

Big Akwes: I have seized some people in Ghana from recording videos to promote Frank Naro’s song and you are part of them. If they come out to do that, I will come at them with full force. I have respect for you, that’s why I didn’t come out to insult you the other day. But I’m telling you, this is your first and last warning!

McBrown: You are issuing a first and last warning to me? Me? Are you not all my younger siblings if not my children? So, what is wrong if we are all in the same industry and I decide to help one of us? Even if he owes you money, this isn’t the right way to go about it.

Fada Dickson spent $10,000 on Nana Ama Mcbrown’s second arm surgery – Kwaku Manu alleges

Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu made some allegations while addressing the trending opinions from some Despite Media staff that the actress Nana Ama Mcbrown is ungrateful because she left the media house despite everything she enjoyed from Despite Media.

This comes after Abena Moet, Ola Michael, and Kwame Nkrumah Tikese used their shows to drag Nana Ama McBrown while calling her ungrateful.

During his show, Ola Michael said;If there is anybody who ever worked here and should be grateful to the owners of this company, it should be our sister nana ama. we carried you to a higher pedestal but because of disloyalty and ungratefulness, that has been reduced to class one,” “if there is anybody who ever worked here and should be grateful to the owners of this company, it should be our sister nana ama. we carried you to a higher pedestal but because of disloyalty and ungratefulness, that has been reduced to class one,”

These shades from the staff of UTV made Kweku Manu disclose during his show that many people are tagging Nana Ama as ungrateful because the company took all her medical bills when she was up for another arm surgery. “Fada Dickson spent $10,000 on Nana Ama Mcbrown’s second arm surgery” he alleged.

    Akrobeto comes to McBrown’s defense

Reacting to McBrown’s move, Akrobeto in a radio interview announced that there is nothing wrong with the actress’ move adding that the station does not own her.

“It is a business, we all moved from somewhere to our current job. We’ve seen couples divorce and remarry. People relocate to different countries, UTV hasn’t bought Nana Ama, they don’t own her.

“She came to work and has decided to move. Maybe she loved the offer she got and felt it was okay and so if she is leaving, there is nothing wrong,” he explained in Twi.

Akrobeto also debunked claims of Despite Media sacking McBrown as the host of United Showbiz. According to the actor, their employers had no option but to let her go when she confirmed her decision.

“Footballers in various clubs play for the money. The team doesn’t belong to anyone reason why we witness transfers. Nana hasn’t wronged anyone, and neither is UTV.

On Monday, March 13, the popular actress and show host was unveiled as the latest member of Media General, confirming her move from Despite Media where she hosted United Showbiz for over 3 years.

Recalling her life struggles on 3FM with Johnnie Hughes, the award-winning media personality took credit for her growth in acting and every aspect of her life.

“It didn’t start today, I started this long ago. I knew and saw this picture long ago. I am not impressing anybody, I am working for myself…it is part of the job when people come after me. How about the blessings? It is the same way when the ambassadorial deals are coming.

“Whoever is saying what about me, I leave that person to God because I know myself and I know I have worked my way through here. I didn’t come here just for the sake of my beauty or maybe my smile. I have worked to make my smile impactful. I am here because I have worked, oh Jonnie I have worked!” she hammered with pride.

A Plus speaks on McBrown’s exit, pokes Abena Moet, Ola Michael

Kwame Asare Obeng, known in showbiz as A Plus, has given his ‘two cents’ about the brouhaha surrounding Nana Ama McBrown’s exit from Despite Media.

McBrown was on March 13, 2023, unveiled by Media General as the newest addition to the brand. The development courted controversy as some staff of Despite Media, including Ola Michael and Abena Moet labelled her ungrateful.

Abena Moet of Okay FM recalled some sacrifices Despite Media made for McBrown stressing that Despite Media groomed McBrown to become one of Ghana’s seasoned show hosts. According to her, Despite Media should be given plaudits for nurturing McBrown who had no proper education.

“For her to transition from acting to the media without having any proper education is impressive. Whatever goods she gives you Media General, just know that we gave it to her first because we made her a TV host. We are the ones who groomed her, the credit goes to us. We groomed her into a better host,” Abena Moet said.

Commenting on the issue on Instagram, A Plus who is a regular guest on UTV’s United Showbiz, the show McBrown used to host on the Despite Media platform, said: “If UTV made her a great presenter, then we should be excited to be part of her success story. Do yours and wish others well.”

She asserted that the owners of the Despite Media Group do not object to McBrown quitting the company and that she [Vim Lady] is consequently baffled as to why some of her coworkers are criticizing McBrown.

Vim Lady pointed out that the critics were only acting in this way just to attract favour from their bosses.

Borga Sylvia explains why she kissed Nana Ama McBrown at a funeral

Borga Sylvia, the actress who kissed Nana Ama McBrown during the funeral of her (Sylvia) sister in January 2023, has given a reason for her action, saying it was a harmless kiss.

Sandra Adu, as she is known in real life, told Deloris Frimpong Manso on The Delay Show that it did not come to her as a surprise when she read articles on major news portals about the incident.

According to her, a kiss is a common gesture of greeting a friend or close associate, hence the hullabaloo that greeted her kiss to McBrown was misplaced.

“I gave her a hug. It’s like meeting your friend, giving her a hug and a peck; that’s what happened,” said Borga Sylvia. “In this industry, you hear stuff about you and you know it’s untrue so I wasn’t surprised.”

Commenting on her sister’s demise, Borga Sylvia said Cynthia Amankwa Gyamfi fell sick for a while before her unfortunate death. She had arrived in Ghana for their mother’s funeral and decided to stay in Ghana for a while after the occasion, only to depart.

She mentioned that she had two children with the famous DJ and does not regret spending fifteen years with him.

She further mentioned that they are not divorced but since they are not together anymore, he is at liberty to do whatever he wants with his life.

UTV remove McBrown’s pics from United Showbiz to confirm her exit

Following the widespread speculations and some keen observations made by some media houses, we can say on authority that truly, Nana Ama McBrown has parted ways with the Despite Media Group, owners of United Television.

A fortnight ago, it was reported that McBrown – who has been the host of the show for almost 3 years – has parted ways with UTV, and had reportedly been replaced by MzGee.

The rumours grew rife on social media after McBrown’s multiple weeks of absence from the screens, even though the reports had been treated as mere speculations. But it’s now evident that MzBrown will not be returning to hosting duties.

Mzgee reportedly takes over from Mcbrown at UTV
McBrown exits UTV as MzGee takes over her show

Avid viewers of the show would attest that Empress McBrown was the face of the station’s flagship entertainment show ‘United Showbiz’ since its inception in 2020.

Her images were all over posters which were widely distributed on social media ahead of the weekend. The show’s montage had her face while her picture was also boldly displayed on a giant screen in the background during the show.

But on Saturday, March 11, 2023, it was observed that some minute things have seemingly changed about the show – with reference to the montage and interludes.

Watch the difference between McBrown’s old and MzGee’s new montage

The Montage: When McBrown was away in Germany to realign her dislocated arm following a domestic accident at home, she was assisted by temporal hosts who were rotated on a weekly basis until she resumed work.

Nothing about the show changed. Her face was still used on flyers alongside that of the guest hosts. The show’s montage remained the same as was since its inception.

However, the recent episode on Saturday saw McBrown’s face replaced with MzGee, which would have been highly unlikely to happen if McBrown will be returning.

    Background display picture:

If you still doubt all these elements which point to the fact that McBrown has officially parted ways with UTV, then you may be daydreaming.

    it’s time to move on!

Make Nana Ama McBrown Ghana’s Ellen DeGeneres or Oprah – Olele Salvador

Ghanaian entertainment journalist, Emmanuel Kwame Sarpong known popularly as Olele Salvador, wants Media General to transform actress and TV presenter, Nana Ama Brown into the likes of Oprah Winfrey or Ellen DeGeneres.

According to him, this would be possible as Nana Ama McBrown is likeable and has a remarkable brand that attracts investors.

In a tweet briefly after her move from UTV to Media General, he wrote: “I’m not too sure what the plan is for Nana Ama McBrown at Onua TV/Onua FM but I think she will best fit the ‘Ellen Degeneres/Oprah” profile or typa show. She’s likeable. & Her brand attracts all sorta products that can have her easily do these in-studio audience giveaway etc.”

McBrown is joining the Onua brand under the Media General group.

“Akwaabaa…. From the entire Media General family, we welcome the beautiful and amazing Nana Ama McBrown to the Onua family. You are welcome home Nana Ama,” the media house wrote.

The two international women Olele Salvador want McBrown to walk in their footsteps have worked hard to become who they are now, just as Nana Ama McBrown who started with her “archrival” Suzzy Williams of blessed memory.

    Ellen DeGeneres

After starting out as a stand-up comedian, Ellen DeGeneres rose to fame when her sitcom “Ellen” premiered on television in 1994.

Nine years later, her eponymous daytime talk show first aired, making DeGeneres a household name, Forbes notes.

In addition to the eight-figure check she gets from hosting her show, she has earned millions more producing shows like “Little Big Shots.”

In 2021, she announced she would end her show after its 19th season, following various reports came out detailing the show’s toxic workplace.

Since coming out as gay in 1997, she’s been an activist in the LGTBQ community, supporting to the Trevor Project, Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD.

    Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey has transitioned her hit talk show, which ran for 25 years, into a media and business empire.

According to Forbes, she reinvested the profits from her show plus profits from films like The Color Purple, Beloved and Selma (which her Harpo Productions coproduced) add up to more than $2 billion.

In 2011, Winfrey launched cable channel OWN. Her 25.5% of the network is worth more than $65 million.

The ‘Oprah effect’ has spread to Weight Watchers: she bought a 10% stake in 2015 (since lowered to 7%) and acts as a brand ambassador.

In March 2020, she returned to the small screen on Apple TV+ for an interview show about Covid-19 as part of her multiyear pact with the streamer.
