  • FIFA U20 World Cup coach Sellas Tetteh recovers from illness

    Coach Sellas Tetteh, who led his team to victory in the FIFA U20 World Cup, is fully healthy after battling a long-term illness.

    Tetteh led Ghana’s coaching staff at the 2009 African Youth Championship. He assisted Ghana’s under-20 team in winning the match for the first time since 1999, earning them a spot in the World Cup.

    The Ghana under-20 squad was led to the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup by Tetteh, making them the first African side to triumph in the event. Tetteh thus received the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Coach of the Year Award and the CAF Coach of the Year Award.

    Tetteh left his dual roles as manager of the Ghana under-20 national team and Ghanaian club side Liberty Professionals in February 2010 to take control of the national team of Rwanda. Tetteh left her position as manager of Rwanda on September 6, 2011.

    In preparation for the 2013 African Youth Championship in Algeria, Tetteh was once more given control of the Ghana U20 team in December 2012. After losing in a penalty shootout to Egypt in the championship match, he led the squad to second place. At the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Tetteh was in command of the Ghana U20 team once more. At the conclusion of the competition, he guided the squad to a third-place finish.

    The celebrated youth coach received a three-month temporary contract on August 14, 2015, to serve as interim manager of the national team for Sierra Leone. He stepped down from his role as manager of Ghana’s under-20 team in March 2016 to continue serving as interim manager for Sierra Leone.

    Tetteh and Andy Sinason served as co-interim coaches for Liberty Professionals for the second round of the 2020–21 season beginning in April 2021.

  • Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan tips Dreams FC coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu for greatness

    Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan believes Dreams FC trainer Ignatius Osei-Fosu has the potential to become a world-class coach.

    Speaking to Kumasi-based Pure FM, Gyan hailed Osei Fosu’s preparation towards games while tipping him to attain greater height of his coaching career.

    Osei Fosu began his career at Liberty Professionals, and has since coached Eleven Wonders, Medeama, and Dreams.

    “I know Ignatius Osei-Fosu very much and I watched him grow as a coach and I know he will become better and better,” Gyan told Pure FM.

    “I like his personality and his commitment and for me, he has the potential to become a top-class coach.

    “He knows how to prepare his team for games and he has everything to become a top coach in the future.”

    Osei-Fosu has a CAF License A certificate and previously worked as a scout for Asante Kotoko under Mas-Ud Didi Dramani who won the Ghana Premier League twice.

    Dreams have six points after three games this season.

  • Legon Cities ‘machomen’ fire shots at Liberty Professionals after defeat – Reports

    Legon Cities FC ‘macho men’ are reported to have fired gunshots at Liberty Professionals on Sunday where they lost 1-0.

    According to multiple reports, the macho men fired the shots in protest to what they describe as poor officiating.

    The incident happened after the final whistle when the ‘thugs’ removed the rifles from the Hummer vehicle and started firing in the air.

    Liberty Professionals were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute which was converted by by Abraham Wayo.

    After Week 7 of the Ghana Premier League, Legon Cities are the only side without a win and yet to score a goal in open play.

  • Liberty Professionals unveil six new players ahead of new season

    Ghana Premier Side, Liberty Professionals have announced the signing of six new players ahead of the 2020/2021 season.

    The club announced the new signings via their official twitter handle on Thursday.

    Attacking Midfielder, Razak Boame joins the club from Bechem United.

    Liberty have also announced the acquisition of striker, Emmanuel Paga from Vision FC on a two-year deal.

    The 21-year old scored 9 goals in 11 appearances for Vision FC before the season was brought to a halt due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

  • Liberty Professionals star Elvis Kyei Baffour jets off to UAE to seal Al Ain FC move

    Liberty Professionals youngster Elvis Kyei Baffour has left Ghana to seal a move to Al Ain FC in UAE, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

    The 21-year-old attacker left Ghana on Friday and is expected to arrive in the Emirati capital on Saturday.

    Baffour was a delight to watch in Ghana Premier League last season where he netted 8 goals in 13 matches before its termination.

    He also provided four assists in the process.

    The Ghanaian top-flight was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

    Baffour will undergo a 14-day quarantine before completing the other details on his transfer.

  • Liberty Professionals confirm the departure of goalkeeper Fatao Dida Alhassani

    Ghana Premier League outfit, Liberty Professionals have officially confirmed the exit of Togolese goalkeeper Fatao Did Alhassani.

    The shot-stopper who spent six seasons with the Dansoman based lads is joining Congolese side AS Simba Kamikaze.

    “Our Togo international goalkeeper Fatao Dida Alhassani has joined AS Simba Kolwezi in the DR Congo. He has been an outstanding member of our family for six years and we thank him for his service. He will always be welcomed back with open arms,” the Scientific Soccer Lads wrote on Twitter.

    Fatao lost his first choice place with the Ghana Premier League side before competitive fixtures in the country was halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

    Local boy Ganiwu Shaibu was the preferred number one goalkeeper for the Dansoman-based side.

    The lanky goalie joined the Ghanaian club in 2014 after arriving from Togo.

  • Liberty Professionals record massive 5-2 win over Aduana Stars

    Liberty Professionals hammered Aduana Stars 5-2 at the Carl Reindorf Sports Stadium in this match day 10 fixture of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

    The scientifc soccer lads came from behind to pick this important win at home.

    Aduana Stars took the lead through Yahaya Mohammed in the 10th minute.

    The home side got the equalizer through Mubarak Alhassan who scored with a good finish.

    Yahaya Mohammed scored again to put Aduana Stars in the lead some few minutes later which was his 10th goal of the season.

    Liberty Professionals were relentless and scored the equalizing goal in the 26th minute as Elvis Kyei-Baffour scored from the penalty spot.

    Abass Nuhu scored with his first touch of the game for Liberty Professionals to put his side in the lead in the 70th minute.

    Elvis Kyei Baffour got his brace as he scored late in the game to secure the points for Liberty Professionals.

  • Liberty’s Carl Reindorf Park ready to host Ghana Premier League game

    Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals have their home venue ready for this weekend’s match day 10 fixture against League leaders Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League.

    The Carl Reindorf Park was closed down by the Club Licensing Board after it license was revoked after the game against Hearts of Oak.

    According to the Club Licensing Board the venue failed to meet the requirements of the board.

    Liberty had to move their next home game to Dawu against Dreams FC as a result of the ongoing works at the venue.

    Pictures shown by the club on its social media handle indicates that the venue has been brought back to life and will be ready to host their next Premier League game should the Club License Board approve the venue.

    Liberty Professionals currently sit 12th on the league log with 10 points after match day nine.

  • Liberty Professionals were superior than us – Maxwell Konadu

    Coach of Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu has praised Liberty Professionals for their brilliant display against his side.

    The Porcupine Warriors were hoping to continue their fine form against the Scientific Soccer lads at their home grounds on Sunday.

    However, a late equaliser from William Opoku Mensah as they drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals.

    “We are not happy we lost points at home,” Maxwell Konadu told the press after the game.

    “We came strong in the second half but Liberty are a strong team but were hoping to get the three maximum point.

    “In general, it was a good match and I think Liberty played better than us but we will work hard and bounce back in our next game.

    The stalemate leave the Porcupine Warriors at the 6th position with 13 points.

    Kotoko will travel to Sogakope to play WAFA in the matchday eight fixtures.
