You’ve come to put there that ‘hey stream my music’. He’ll come and say Look at this Kwasia, why will I stream your music’. It’s not personal. He’s angry inside about something that’s happening in his personal life. He’s just projecting it onto me.

In an interview on 3FM on November 12, 2024, DJ Vyrusky, whose real name is Kofi Amoako, explained that Kuami Eugene was unavailable during the recording of the song, which is why King Paluta’s verse was used instead.

He further clarified, “There was a conversation about having Kuami Eugene on the song, but he was not available at the time, so we never actually recorded his verse. I didn’t remove anything from the song.”

DJ Vyrusky also emphasised that he and Kuami Eugene have several songs together that are yet to be released.

  • KiDi, two other celebrities who have been sexually assaulted by fans

KiDi, two other celebrities who have been sexually assaulted by fans

Fame is not all glitz and glamour, as more celebrities have begun sharing their personal stories of sexual harassment, often at the hands of fans or overly obsessed admirers.

These encounters have escalated beyond online harassment and objectification to troubling physical interactions, with some fans even committing acts of sexual misconduct in public spaces.

While it’s true that many celebrities project a sensual image that attracts admirers, it is vital to understand that this image is often a performance for “show business” and doesn’t necessarily represent their true selves.

Several Ghanaian celebrities, both men and women, who have endured such disturbing experiences, have courageously come forward, describing these incidents as among the most traumatic in their lives.

Let’s take a look at their stories below:

    Mzbel

    Mzbel

Mzbel has often shared her experiences with sexual abuse throughout her career. During a live performance in October 2005 at KNUST, the singer faced sexual harassment from some students. She described how, in a disturbing incident, students groped her, inserting their fingers into her private area and fondling her breasts. This left her with bruises on her face and body, causing severe pain.

Although the case went to court, a subsequent report by a student fact-finding committee cast doubt on her account, suggesting that provocative behavior by Mzbel and her dancers on stage might have influenced the students’ actions.

A year later, Mzbel revealed another traumatic event where she was again robbed by armed robbers who broke into her home.

Mzbel said she was rapped twice by armed robbers on the night in the presence of her son, John.

    Sefa

Sefa also shared a distressing experience during her performance in Kasoa, where she was assaulted after leaving the stage.

The singer said although she has experienced verbal abuse from netizens on social media a number of times, the assault in Kasoa left her terrified and shaken.

Sharing a vivid picture of the incident, she said in her case, both men and women touched her breasts and private parts.

“Yes, I have been harassed sexually,” she stated. “After performing at a show in Kasoa and I left the stage, I felt hands all over me…my breasts, my private parts…like men and women touching me. It was so frustrating … That was where I really felt it,” she stated in a recent interview with Accra FM’s Nana Romeo.

    KiDi

    KiDi

While sexual abuse in the showbiz industry has predominantly affected women, men have also become victims.

Singer, KiDi, also shared his experience from an obsessed female fan.

In May 2022, during an interview with AJ Sarpong, the Ghanaian singer recounted an incident at a birthday party hosted by popular photographers, ‘Twins Dnt Beg’, where the assault took place.

“I went to a birthday party, I wasn’t planning to perform but there are my brothers so I did a couple of things so when I got down, this girl approached me and said she wanna take a picture with me.”

“Obviously she wasn’t from here (Ghanaian), I was like cool ’cause I am a nice guy. When she was crossing to the side she stood in front of me. She was taller than me, I was looking at her and she just grabbed my manhood. After she laughed and said she’d heard things about me,” KiDi narrated.

I stopped wearing tight trousers because of unwanted attention to my private parts – KiDi

KiDi recently shared that he has decided to stop wearing skinny trousers due to the unwanted attention his private area received

The Ghanaian singer explained that people frequently fixated on his lower body when he wore tight pants, even highlighting it in social media comments.

In a Pure FM interview, KiDi revealed, “People always paid attention to my loads anytime I wear skinny trousers. The attention is always down there. They will draw that place out and talk about it the whole time. That’s why I stopped wearing skinny trousers and now opt for the baggy type,” he disclosed.

He also mentioned that loose-fitting pants offer the added benefit of better airflow and comfort.

Despite the attention, KiDi expressed confidence in his body, stating, “I wear loose trousers now because it doesn’t highlight my goods anymore. It also enables fresh air to blow me down there.

“I like my body type and wouldn’t want to be anything else.”

His well-endowed physique has often drawn notice at events, particularly on red carpets, further contributing to his decision to favor more relaxed clothing.

“My vision for the future and the support from my family my son, my mom are what keep me going,” he said.

“On days when I’m not motivated to sing, reflecting on them gives me the strength to continue.”

KiDi also expressed his deep-seated fear of poverty, which he sees as a barrier to enjoying life and making a difference.

He noted, “My parents taught me that having fun is an important part of life. To live the life I envision with my loved ones and make a positive impact, financial stability is essential. Without it, I couldn’t enjoy life or contribute meaningfully to others.”

We focus on the mind not the body when we become men – Kidi tells women

Ghanaian musician Dennis Nana Dwamena, popularly known as Kidi, has highlighted a profound shift in perspective that occurs as men mature.

Kidi asserts that as men grow older, they move beyond superficial “specs” in women, focusing instead on the substance of their character and intellect.

He emphasizes that fixating solely on a woman’s appearance can be perilous, particularly when considering a lifelong partnership.

In a widely circulated video, he articulates, “As you mature, your preferences change. What truly matters is a woman’s heart and mind. While physical attractiveness is important, it pales in comparison to the depth of her character.”

Kidi underscores the significance of choosing a life partner based on qualities that endure beyond surface beauty. He cautions against prioritizing physical attributes over emotional and intellectual compatibility, stressing the importance of seeking a partner with whom one can envision a lasting and fulfilling relationship.

How creatives can succeed in the music industry – Richie Mensah tells it all

Ghanaian music producer Richie Mensah recently discussed why talent alone is not adequate for musicians to thrive in the industry.

Mensah, known for his work with artists like Kuami Eugene, KiDi, and MzVee, emphasized that while talent is crucial, it’s not the sole determinant of success.

According to him, discipline, marketability, business acumen, and industry knowledge are equally essential for artists to succeed.

He highlighted that these factors often play a more significant role than raw talent.

In a video shared on Titok, Mensah pointed out that many talented artists struggle because they lack these essential skills.

He cited that around 80% of talented artists fail to achieve their desired success due to a lack of understanding of the business side of the industry.

“ Many musicians fail to maintain the spotlight because music is more than talent but factors like marketability, business sense, and industry knowledge.”

Mensah stressed that treating music as a business and mastering these key elements is vital for sustained success.

The discussion sparked varied opinions among netizens in the comments section of the video, reflecting the ongoing debate on talent versus other critical factors in the music industry.

While events serve as a platform for artists to connect with their fans and commemorate a successful year of music, the overall experience is sometimes marred by delays in performances, venue-related issues, security concerns, and other unforeseen challenges.

Regrettably, these setbacks often overshadow the positive aspects of the concerts, with social media becoming a platform for fans to vent their frustrations and draw unfavourable comparisons.

  • Investors aren’t interested in the Ghanaian music industry- KiDi

Investors aren’t interested in the Ghanaian music industry- KiDi

Ghanaian musician KiDi has expressed his concerns about the challenges faced by many creatives in the music industry.

He mentioned that many artists are relying on “vibes and insha Allah” to make their way in the industry. KiDi also recognized that everyone in the industry is doing their best with the resources available.

“We are doing our best with what we have, if you have conversation with Ghanaian creators, you realize that everybody is really doing their best with what they have.

“We wish for catalysts, things that put whatever we’re doing on a wider horizon.
But this is what we have. Even though we are fighting, we won’t fold our arms and complain. We’ll work till we get to that stage where we have what we want,” he said.

He recognized that securing investments from individuals who believe in their vision is crucial. However, KiDi pointed out the lack of a well-defined system within the industry which makes it challenging to attract investments.

“That conversation is a wider conversation because there’s so many things plucked into this one problem. If I’m an investor, and I’m coming to invest in a system. What is the system? There is no system to even be attractive,” he said.

KiDi highlighted that many artists rely on their passion and dedication to overcome challenges in the industry. He emphasized the significance of identifying solutions and maintaining perseverance, rather than fixating on the problems.

“That’s why a lot of us, it is our passion and passion is what makes the difference between when the thing is weighing you down, you’re still pushing because it’s what you love to do.

“So we’ll keep working hard. I will not come and sit and say, this thing is not working for me. Yes, there’s things that are bad, but my mentality is to always forge on, like, keep going, no matter what the thing is.

“I’ll find a plan to manoeuvre my way around it until I can get it fixed,” he said.

KiDi provided a vivid portrayal of the hardships young Africans must overcome, indicating that they often need to invest significantly more effort and resilience to achieve their goals, especially when compared to those in more privileged circumstances.

He stressed that: “As a kid, if you are born in this part of the world, your dreams and your goals are delayed 10 years. Whatever someone is doing five times, you have to do it times 50. Your effort has to be double; you have to strive, you have to have a monster mentality because you are unfortunate from the start; you’ve lost the race before it began.”

The artist did not shy away from addressing systemic issues prevalent in various sectors across African nations, including challenges within the entertainment industry and agriculture.

“I don’t see pressure; I won’t put pressure there. As much as a lot of things were happening, I wouldn’t say it had to do with that. Many things were happening in the background; I cannot say, they are personal. That, compounded with so many other things, can be a little bit overwhelming,” he explained.

  • KiDi reveals why artists rarely pursue defamation lawsuits

KiDi reveals why artists rarely pursue defamation lawsuits

Ghanaian musician KiDi has opened up about why artists and public figures rarely pursue defamation lawsuits.

On Metro TV’s Entertainment review show, the ‘Sugar Daddy’ star explained that the legal process and its associated stress deter artists and industry figures from pursuing defamation cases in court.

“We live in a country where, to be honest, if we say we are being honest, a lot of our systems are quite strenuous. Okay, somebody has done something to you, want to take it to court, you come out of the court even more stressed than you went in. And considering the circumstance of what I was also going through at that time, coming to add this legal issue was going to be stressful.

“But like you said, I contemplated the idea of taking them on because for how long are these people going to get away with publishing some of these things that are false? But I leave it to God. Yeah, I mean, it was tough for everybody.”

His remarks follow the debate surrounding his absence from the public spotlight and health-related rumours.

In March, reports emerged suggesting that Kidi had experienced a stroke and required hospitalization, leading to the cancellation of his North American tour due to health concerns. However, his manager, Richie Mensah, promptly refuted these rumors, affirming the artist’s good health. Kidi also personally confirmed his well-being in a subsequent statement.

Speaking about the experience, Kidi disclosed that his vacation was caused by the need to take a break from the strain of show business and the performance.

“In that moment, I don’t think anybody will even figure out what to the right thing to even do because there’s so much happening. Like from left, right, everybody’s pulling phone calls. It was just so much happening.

“I had to make all of that simmer down, digest everything going on before coming out…. there were other things that I was trying to figure out and deal with. That is why I had to cancel my tour because I wasn’t myself 100%. There was so much going on. Like I said, I don’t want to go into detail… But yeah. Just know that I’m glad to be back. I’m happy.”

When asked why it took him so long to put an end to the rumours, he responded that he wanted to be ready before returning to the spotlight.

“I wanted to take a little break because there were a few things happening. So once that was resolved, I was ready to come out because if I had to come out because of that and I would have come out a day that thing came out, I was like, I don’t have to until I’m ready to.”

  • Stop comparing Ghana to Nigerian music -KiDi

Stop comparing Ghana to Nigerian music -KiDi

Ghanaian musician KiDi has expressed his frustration over the constant comparisons made between the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries. He firmly believes that the tremendous global and local successes achieved by Nigerian musicians should not be interpreted as a sign of Ghanaian music lagging behind.

KiDi unequivocally emphasized that each country’s music industry holds its distinct strengths, talent, and artistic brilliance, and as such, should be appreciated on their individual merits. He advocates for recognizing and celebrating the unique contributions of both nations’ artists without undermining the achievements of either.

Speaking with Pulse Ghana, the singer said “As a people, I want us to dead this conversation and comparison spirit, It’s embracing and empathetic. We are always crying on the internet about Ghana and Nigerian, stop it it’s embarrassing”.

“A lot of you sound bitter, like someone is doing something better and we can not big someone up without bring someone down. It should never be this way”.

Kidi explained that Ghanaian music possesses a unique and distinct identity that sets it apart and makes it worthy of celebration for its originality and creativity. Instead of comparing it to the success of another country’s music industry, it is crucial to appreciate and promote the individuality of Ghanaian music.

He passionately urged everyone to recognize and appreciate Ghanaian artists’ contributions to the cultural landscape and global success.

KiDi’s stance resonates with many in the industry who believe that comparing two distinct music scenes does not do justice to the rich diversity and creativity that each has to offer.

  • Social media trolls do not affect me anymore – KiDi

Social media trolls do not affect me anymore – KiDi

Musician KiDi recently disclosed that his life underwent a remarkable transformation when he made the decision to take a break from music in March of this year.

In an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the renowned artist, best known for his hit song ‘Odo,’ opened up about how this much-needed hiatus provided him with a valuable opportunity for introspection. Specifically, he delved into how he learned to navigate the challenges of dealing with online trolls and false rumors that often circulate on the internet.

During his well-deserved break, KiDi experienced a profound shift in his mindset, leading to significant personal growth and a deeper understanding of himself. He made it clear that the person he is now in comparison to who he was back in February showcases a positive and transformative evolution, all of which happened during his time away from the intense glare of the spotlight.

One major realization KiDi had during his break was learning not to take social media trolls seriously.

According to him, he now understands that many individuals who engage in negative behavior online are likely projecting their frustrations and unhappiness onto others, including celebrities like himself.

“I now know that when people come on social media and say the things they say, it’s not really about me. Some of them are unhappy in life. If you are unhappy, you take that out on anything and everything,” he said.

KiDi also opened up about the difficult choice he had to make a few months ago to cancel his highly-anticipated US tour. The tour, originally planned to cover ten cities in the US, had to be called off to prioritize his health and well-being.

During that time, false rumors began to circulate, suggesting that KiDi had suffered a stroke. Swiftly, he took to his social media platforms to debunk these untrue claims, setting the record straight about his health status.

Recognizing the importance of self-care, both physically and mentally, KiDi took the necessary time to focus on his well-being. Now, with a renewed sense of vigor and determination, he affirmed that he is fully back and more than ready to wholeheartedly pursue his passion for music once again.

I wanted to sue ‘stroke’ rumor spreaders – KiDi

Ghanaian musician KiDi has opened up about the distressing experience he faced when false news about him suffering from a stroke began circulating.

In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz at Hitz FM, the singer admitted that he was tempted to take legal action against bloggers who spread the fake news, as it not only caused discomfort for him but also for his family, friends, and the brands he collaborates with.

KiDi revealed that upon learning about the rumor, he turned to social media only to discover that it had already spread widely. The situation quickly spiraled, leading to an overwhelming number of concerned calls, including one from his worried mother, whom he had spoken to earlier and had to reassure about his well-being, along with others who were deeply concerned about him. The incident shed light on the negative impact of spreading misinformation in the digital age and its consequences on individuals and their personal lives.

“When it happed I called Richie 9CEO of Lynx Entertainment) and asked ‘how many times or for how long will these things happen and we will say it’s nothing? How long will we have to keep doing this? People are taking advantage obviously as you can see’. There needs to be some course of action,” KiDi said.

KiDi took to his social media to inform his fans about the cancellation of his tour, attributing the decision to unavoidable health issues, without delving into specifics. Unfortunately, this lack of information sparked speculations among the public, with some individuals propagating unfounded rumors that he was battling a stroke.

Lynx Entertainment’s CEO, Richie Mensah, swiftly dismissed these rumors, labeling them as clickbait and reaffirming that KiDi’s health concerns were being handled responsibly and appropriately.

Following the incident, KiDi made his return to social media in April, releasing a new single titled ‘I Lied’ shortly after. He also marked his first public appearance at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), which served as an indication that he was on the path to recovery and ready to continue his musical journey.

    2. Maureen Biniyam – Hallelujah

The American-based Ghanaian gospel minister is making a return with Hallelujah, after the release of her last single, W’ayem Ye in September 2022. Hallelujah is a song which she says was borne out of her “understanding and personal experience that when Christians lift up a hallelujah to the Lord even in unpleasant situations, the Supernatural happens to move things in our favour”. The song is expected to inspire and motivate Christians to keep a cool head and maintain their faith in God even in the face of life’s adversities.

Hallelujah is set for release on streaming platforms on Friday, July 28, 2023.

    3. Perez Musik – Walatse (Life Giver)

Perez Musik has established himself as a breath of fresh air in the gospel music fraternity, while maintaining a cordial relationship with his seniors. It’s been a good run since his emergency unto the music space. His last record, Mibobaahe, is still topping charts and doing well across many platforms. Prior to that, his song, Fresh Fire had become a go-to worship song for many, thus many are looking forward Walatse, which is a Ga word for ‘Life Giver’.

The song which is set for release on Friday, July 25, is based on Genesis 2:7, “then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”.

  • KiDi shuts down rumours of his ill health and explains his new song ‘I Lied’

KiDi shuts down rumours of his ill health and explains his new song ‘I Lied’

KiDi, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) ‘Artiste of the Year’ 2022, has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons.

The GoldenBoy singer has faced a lot of speculation and concern about his health after he postponed his North American tour and released a song that subtly suggested concern for his liver, thus making fans and critics alike speculate that he could be dealing with ill health related to his liver.

But fear not, KiDi fans. The Lynx Entertainment star has come out to clear the air and assure everyone that he is absolutely fine and healthy.

It all started when KiDi announced on social media that he was postponing his GoldenBoy North American tour, which was scheduled to kick off on March 1 and end on March 19, 2023.

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the postponement of my Golden Boy North American Tour…’ ‘I’ve had to make this decision to postpone the tour due to health issues and I want you to know that this decision was not made lightly. A tour of this magnitude and level of commitment it will take may put me at risk of further damage to my health.’ ‘I want to ensure that whenever we meet on tour, it will be an experience worth everything you’ve given me as an artist and I can only do that if I am in much better health than I am now. Apologies to all of my fans and Duke Concept…’” he wrote on Instagram.

He cited “ill health” as the reason for the postponement, but for some unknown reason, rumours spread like wildfire, suggesting that the ill health KiDi referred to was him suffering a stroke.

KiDi and his team quickly debunked these rumours and said that he was in good shape and that the tour would resume soon.

However, just as the dust was settling, KiDi dropped his first single for 2023, titled ‘I Lied’. The song, which is a catchy afrobeat tune, has some lyrics that raised eyebrows among listeners.

    In the chorus, KiDi sings: “I lied when I said I’m okay / I lied when I said I’m not in pain / I lied when I said I don’t need you / I lied when I said my liver’s fine…If I show you my liver / You go take me to prayer / Don’t wait till I’m under / 6 feet I’m gone…”

Many people interpreted these words as a confession from KiDi that he was suffering from liver disease and that he was hiding his true feelings from his lover.

The song sparked a lot of sympathy and prayers for KiDi online, especially after his stellar performance at the 2023 VGMAs.

But in a recent interview with Sika Osei on her show ‘Unstripped’, KiDi set the record straight once and for all.

He said that he did not have any liver disease or any other health issue and that he was feeling great.

He also explained that the song ‘I Lied’ was not about him, but about anyone who was going through a tough time and pretending to be okay.

He said that he wrote the song to inspire people to be honest with themselves and their loved ones, and to seek help when they need it.

So there you have it, folks. KiDi is alive and well, and ready to rock your world with his music. Don’t believe everything you hear, unless it comes from the GoldenBoy himself.

  • “I’m can willing to donate my liver for you” – Ayisha Modi tells KiDi

“I’m can willing to donate my liver for you” – Ayisha Modi tells KiDi

Ayisha Modi has said she will be willing to donate her liver to Ghanaian musician KiDi should the need arise for an implant, if indeed reports of him battling with health complications are true.

The young musical artiste, known for his 2022 hit song “Touch It,” got many people worried after he shared a teaser of his new song scheduled for release on 27th April 2023, with a video of him making some inferences about his health.

This comes on the back of earlier reports that he was down with a stroke – rumours which have been debunked by his management and himself.

Through the lyrics of the song, KiDi suggested he was battling a liver-related condition which would live his fans in tears if it’s exposed to them.

On the back of this, many of his fans are hoping and praying that the lyrics of the song should not be the reality of his health.

One such person is Ayisha Modi who has come through with a message of consolation for KiDi to overcome whatever he’s currently battling behind closed doors.

Additionally, the socialite – whose name is seemingly tied to all forms of benevolent acts in this world – assured KiDi of her unflinching support should he need a liver donor.

“Dear @kidimusic I pray it’s not tru but if really it’s tru and you want a donor I could help if we compatible, she wrote sharing a video of the snippet. “This lyrics are scaring me. I pray and hope it’s just a lyrics and there is nothing more to it.

“This song we won’t sing along because the message it carries is heart breaking and we as Ghanaians are not ready to accept this.”

Ayihsa Modi reacts to KiDi liver complications

Without a shred of doubt, KiDi’s upcoming song will talk about his personal life and the predicaments he has suffered in recent times concerning his health.

Amidst the reports that the singer is allegedly suffering from liver cancer, some Ghanaians have emotionally reacted to the sad-trending story.

    Read the statement below:

A little under two months ago, I made the painful decision of cancelling my tour to take care of my health that included taking time off social media. In that time, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from family, friends, fans and the brands I work with. You all made me feel incredibly loved in this difficult period and I can’t appreciate you enough.

Unfortunately, a few bad actors took this as an opportunity to spread false stories that got a lot of you very concerned. While I do not want to give it any more attention, I want to categorically address that those stories were false.

I am glad to be back to doing what I love most; creating music and performing for you. Thanks for sticking it out with me.

    Love, KiDi

My father stripped me naked because I was stubborn – Kidi

Ghanaian afrobeats and high-life singer-songwriter, KiDi, has shared some of his childhood stories, making it seem he had a troubled childhood.

In an interview on The Doreen Avio Show, he stated that his intransigent behaviour led him to many troubles at home and school.

KiDi stated that this incident pushed his father to order for+ his clothes to be stripped off of him and for him to parade around the neighborhood.

He further noted that he had that punishment imposed on him because his father was done with his troubles and wanted him to change for the better.

“My dad called my big sister. He was like, ‘strip him naked; everything. No supporter, nothing, and then, when you’re done, put on his church shoes. So picture this: a young kid, naked, wearing only church shoes,” he said.

The Lynx Entertainment signee added that he was reported to his father for eating his teacher’s food without permission.

The Golden Boy, as he is affectionately called, explained that after that punishment, he had to change his poor ways.

Despite his poor behaviour, the ‘Gyal Dem Sugar’ further stated that he was a highly driven person who participated in several extracurricular activities at school, such as sports, art, and entertainment.

  • The reason KiDi was once stripped naked

The reason KiDi was once stripped naked

Touch It’ hit maker, KiDi has emphasized the reason he was stripped naked by his father back in the day.

The Ghanaian artiste shared with the public how his father stripped him naked for causing trouble in school. KiDi was interviewed on the Doreen Avio Show on Joy Prime TV and speaking with the host, he shared how it all came about.

According to the highlife artiste, he was as stubborn as a mule and adamant growing up and as a result of this, he didn’t really have a good relationship with his father since he always brought trouble home.

He continued by saying that, the number of beatings and punishments rendered on him by his father never made him change his bad ways until one day, his father decided to teach him the lesson of his life by stripping him naked.

He said that, it all came about when he was reported to his father for taking his teacher’s food without the teacher’s consent. His father was very furious at what he did thus he ordered for such punishment on him.

The musician added that, his father did not do it himself but rather asked his sister to perform the act.

KiDi explained to Doreen Avio, “My dad called my big sister. He was like strip him naked, everything, no supporter, nothing and then, when you are done, put on his church shoes. So picture this, a young kid, naked, wearing only shoes”.

He later admitted that, this punishment and the threats made up his father to let him out of the house brought a sudden change in his behavior.

“My dad said since you want to act all grown up, leave my house and go and live in your own house. I started crying and walking out, and he called me up and things have never been the same. So I feel like that punishment stuck with me more than any beating I have ever received, the musician shared his pain.
